Senate Democrats unanimously call on Blagojevich to resign.

Huffington Post’s Sam Stein reports that all 50 members of the Democratic Senate caucus have signed Majority Leader Harry Reid’s (D-NV) letter calling on Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich (D) to “step down from his post and refrain from appointing anyone to the vacated Illinois Senate seat.” The signatories include Vice President-elect Joe Biden and Secretary of State nominee Hillary Clinton. President-elect Barack Obama has also called on Blagojevich to step down.

    – - That, and $1.85, will get the Dem. Senators a venti drip at Starbucks.

  2. Shayne says:

The problem with Blagojevich is that he doesn’t listen to anybody. And he doesn’t have any money and if he resigns he doesn’t get a paycheck to pay his legal bills. And his wife is crazy, they call her Lady Macbeth.

  3. Game of Life says:

Oh look how fast reid moves when it one of his own. Too bad he and palosi aren’t fast when it comes to impeachment.

  4. Tim Vaculik says:

Wait a second, here. He’s aDEMOCRAT for crying out loud! He doesn’t have to resign!

Don’t you people know that since he’s a Democrat, it’s different?

  5. spencers mom says:

Um, TP? I’m curious. How are there 50 Dems in the Senate right now? Are you counting Lieberman as a Democrat? Because if so, STOP IT!

    Thank you.

    PEACE

Vaculik- Only Repugs would settle for this type of criminal behavior with no legal morality and standards. People like you, in other words, who supported criminal actions from the current potus and his cronies. The Hague is waiting for them.

  7. Fred says:

Lone, don’t acknowledge the troll. His post makes it clear what he is here to do……….that’s my opinion.

You can play if you like.

Yeah, if he was a rethug, like DeLay, we could change the rules and allow him to continue governing while under indictment. But it is different, and he’s going to be thrown out on his ass.

Wow all the Democrats voted for G-Rod to resign yet none of these Democrats had the guts to impeach another criminal George W. Bush. These Law Makers better be careful as G-Rod has some rich powerful former Senate friends and other who deal with the pay to play. G-Rod changed the route of Rrairie Parkway so Dennis Hastert would be paid big bucks for cheap property he brought. Illinois Attorney General Lisa Madigan who’s Father Michael Madigan is Speaker of the Illinois House of Representatives is working hard to get her in the Govenor’s office with his pay to play. Yes the Madigan’s had an investigation of campaign fraud they had done stopped. It was cool as Lisa Madigan’s huband gave employees bonuses then told them to give the bonus money to his wife’s campaign. It worked well as Lisa got the history making total of 1.5 million dollars to buy her AG job. She made money more then all the campaign candidates together plus some. Republicans are just loving this as Bush gets his get out of jail pass.

Tomorrow’s news: Blago says “boo,” Reid withdraws the letter and apologizes for any trouble.

Friday’s news: Senate Dems fast-track Blago’s Senate self-appointment, put him in charge of the Appropriations Committee.

  11. sectionop92 says:

How come I now think Blagojevich will be given his own show on Faux News?

A criminal record/scandal is diamonds and gold there.

  12. calavzma says:

lets be fair and not look at the too distant past, lets try to stay focused on the last few months… maybe if something like this happened with a republican governor or senator they’d unanimously ask him to resign too.

doh! i forgot… TED STEVENS! hahaha

at what point will republicans drop the elephant in favor of a giant dick?

  13. EugeneDebs says:

OK Timmeh thanks again for dropping by to prove you are still a liar and a fool

You’re right — it’s different because he’s a Democrat. Do you recall such a groundswell among the GOP calling for Tom Delay’s ouster when he was indicted? How about for Larry Craig when he was arrested?

Democrats aren’t fans of such blatant corruption, no matter what party the perpetrator is from.

  15. Tim Vaculik says:

You folks are at least good for a hearty laugh! The ONLY reason Dems are calling for the governor to step down is that it’s politically expedient for them to do so.

I have LOST COUNT of all the corrupt, law-breaking democrats that have gotten away with everything just shy of murder.

    GMAFB…
