Markey: EPA has been ‘the most successful witness protection program’ in U.S. history.

The House Select Committee on Global Warming held a hearing today on Bush’s last-minute attempts to weaken environmental regulations. Chairman Ed Markey (D-MA) commented on EPA head Stephen Johnson’s refusal to appear before Congress and recalled that, in the first six years of the Bush administration, neither Johnson nor his predecessor ever appeared before the House Energy and Commerce committee, even though it has legislative jurisdiction over the EPA. Markey then joked, “[I]t was the most successful witness protection program in the history of the United States.” Watch it:

Only 41 more days and this infantile error of American politics will no longer be there. Can we speed up the calendar?

    Bush: “America’s Skid Mark.”

    Pure poetry.

Watching Stephen Johnson lie to Congress repeatedly was one of the lowest moments I’ve ever seen from the EPA.

Now Bushco’s are fighting to eliminate emission standards for Calif. as part of the automakers bridge loans.

You can bet that the EPA, Johnson in particular, were spearheading that effort.

Yeah buddy, you’re a regular laugh riot. Resign from the job you’re not doing and you’d be an instant hit as a stand-up comedian.

And like, how hard did any of those Republikan controlled committees ask to see them during the Bush years? Both sides have plenty of folks thinking their above the law and can do what ever they like. How about us. Where do we get justice. Where do we get clean water and uncontaminated food? I’m fed up with partisan politics and just want a responsible government – and I don’t care who is in what office as long as they are willing to do their job the way it needs to be done.

  9. Leftside Annie says:

Why stop with the EPA? Hell, the whole Bush administration has been a witness protection program…
