The Washington Post reported this week that the McCain campaign is selling surplus office and computer equipment. Reporters from Fox’s Washington, DC affiliate went over to the “fire sale” and bought several Blackberries from the campaign. When the Fox employees turned the devices on, they found that Blackberries still “contained more than 50 phone numbers for people connected with the McCain-Palin campaign, as well as hundreds of emails.” Contacted by Fox News, one of the former Blackberry owners said, “They should have wiped that stuff out. … Given the way the campaign was run, this is not a surprise.”
HAH!!!
December 12th, 2008 at 7:06 pmDoes it surprise anyone, really, that a poorly directed campaign putting forth the likes of Senator McCain and Governor Palin—who doubtlessly have little respect for privacy and security of sensitive information—would turn to morons to dispose of such devices?
December 12th, 2008 at 7:07 pmPsst: how about the numbers for that styling and hair team for the Governor, eh? I could use a makeover of sorts, don’t ya know, and I’ll bet they actually need the work…
December 12th, 2008 at 7:09 pmI smell lawsuits. Stupid is as stupid does.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:12 pmSo how many of those e-mails contain f-word laced messages or like expletive rants that are related to Obama, Palin, Keith Olbermann or any of the debate moderators?
December 12th, 2008 at 7:12 pm- – Any doubt we elected the right gang? Geeze, whadda buncha Luddites in the GOP.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:17 pmOh, this is going to be fun….lots of surprises coming up!!!
December 12th, 2008 at 7:19 pmHahahaha!
December 12th, 2008 at 7:20 pmmkkkain invented the things…..you’d think he would know how to wipe info off of them.
in light of all the stuff happening with the economy etc etc … every time i think about the prospect that johnny mcdiapers could have been headed to the whitehouse….it shakes me to the core with fear and a sense of relief at the same time.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:21 pmI’d love to buy the blackberry with Caribou Barbie’s email and phone number on it….this assumes of course she has the mental capacity to answer a call.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:29 pmNow why does this not surprise me?
December 12th, 2008 at 7:31 pmThey probably don’t know how to erase. It’s not like McCain even know how to e-mail.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:32 pmDon’t you get the feeling that they all got up and walked out of their offices the day of the election and never looked back? No one stayed behind to purge the laptops and blackberry’s of critical information.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:33 pmAnd over 47 million voted to keep this Bush/Cheney style incompetence going. Scary to think where our country would have ended up after 4 more years of that.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:42 pmYou’re right, Bilbo, they probably wanted to make the break as quickly as possible and forget the election ever happened.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:48 pmWith a little luck some the e-mails will contain some REALLY good dirt on slimy republicans that are still in office.
December 12th, 2008 at 7:57 pmNow that’s a bone head move.
I’d be interested to read those emails…
December 12th, 2008 at 8:15 pmA TP poster nailed this one. When I read his/her post I was thinking, nobody could be that stupid as to not clean all electronic devices before selling.
the repugs have done it again. Stupid as f0ck.
AGREE, AGREE, AGREE with the above posters.
These idiots could have been in the wh
December 12th, 2008 at 9:19 pmThere are 27M idiots.
“McCain campaign sells surplus Blackberries with ‘hundreds of emails,’ phone numbers still on them.”
It’s hard out there of the GOP pimp. ;)
December 12th, 2008 at 9:24 pmDid this violate any federal laws? What about violations of the Privacy Act? (Do we still have a Privacy Act?)
December 12th, 2008 at 9:32 pmOuch. I take it that the McCain campaign didn’t think it worth the money to hire competent IT support ?
Unfortunately, do I understand that the reporters were from Faux News. If anyone else, I’d look forward to the reporters reporting on salient details. But Faux is the cheerleader for the conservative.
December 12th, 2008 at 9:38 pmI don’t know about that, MapleStreet. If any of the e-mails trash Sarah Palin and support Carl Cameron’s reports of internal strife over her, they might go ahead and reveal them. Then they might be in trouble, too.
December 12th, 2008 at 9:49 pmIt reminds of the time I just left a rental car in a hotel parking lot and took a cab to LAX because I could not get out of town fast enough.
It was a sweet ride too. I still wonder what happened to that car.

December 12th, 2008 at 10:03 pmAndrew Sullivan Is A Fraud
What did you expect?
Take a closer look at the picture.
McCain is trying to talk to a calculator.
“Operator? Operator? Dang… how do I get a dial tone on this thang?”

December 12th, 2008 at 10:54 pmBlackberry’s too complicated, even if he did invent it. McCain’s really just talking on his Jitterbug
December 12th, 2008 at 11:33 pmAlmost makes me feel sorry for the guy. They didn’t care. He lost. They weren’t getting any more money. Screw him.
December 12th, 2008 at 11:57 pmBetcha lots of 900 sex line calls, eh?
December 12th, 2008 at 11:58 pmAnacher, any ride that gets me the hell out of LA is also a sweet ride…
December 12th, 2008 at 11:59 pmIncompetence trickles down.
December 13th, 2008 at 12:31 amHey, anybody else wondering when one of these “campaign contributor grab bag” Blackberrys shows up on eBay?
December 13th, 2008 at 12:43 amTypical!!
December 13th, 2008 at 1:12 amThere’s a stupidity with this story. Fogs News would show up for a fire sale of McCain Campaign communication devices? They make it sound like a garage sale, and no one else saw the ad. Was it on Craig’s List? Which Republicans should be scared now? I think the Republican Party is eating itself alive. They’re all asking each other, “Can you hear me now?”
December 13th, 2008 at 1:18 amLushy, hold it while I get my AR15.
December 13th, 2008 at 2:15 amGod Dog, Lushy, what have you been drinking?
I sure hope, for OTHERS’ sake, you’re not driving tonight.
December 13th, 2008 at 2:18 amAnd people wonder how the Chinese will rise to superpower status.
The GOP should just post their old e-mails on billboards while they’re at it at this rate.
December 13th, 2008 at 2:22 amIncluding, presumably, the Lush.
No matter, it’s simply another in an unending string of examples of wingnuts projecting.
December 13th, 2008 at 2:57 amAlthough I am 58, I’ve been with IT since I was a child. Dad sat me in front the UNIVAC in 1958 and I learned how to play “Mary Had a Little Lamb” on punch cards by the end of that Saturday afternoon. Okay my point. I teach IT now to kids. My admins are in their fifties and see a PC as only a fancy typewriter that no longer needs white-out and sends out a letter magically without a stamp. Nothing more. They don’t get it. They are clueless as to what a server is, why digital media is the future (YouTube); why QWERTY board typing is nearly extinct (thumb typing is now far more important and speech recognition is nearly there); why kids NEED video gaming for spatial visual reasoning (medical robotics); and on and on. They are totally clueless about where IT is headed. I approach IT as “mess with the machine to figure out how to make it do your task”…in other words, learn to teach yourself where to go and what to do.
Sorry for this long post but the point is, on this McCain story, he should have been keeping up with technology in his adult life instead of wasting time on a golf course or buying houses for Ms Thang Cindy and her tacky wardrobe. Palin has no excuse: she is too young to be that moronic.
December 13th, 2008 at 6:08 amI really hope alot of truth seekers have purchased these items..there could be some real gems on there..
December 13th, 2008 at 6:33 am50 Blackberries with all the information and messages on how to lose an election? None for me, thanks. Though IT may not have been McCain’s thing, he certainly should have put a few people on it who did understand. McCain didn’t lose because he did not understand IT–he lost because he was the face of a GOP with nothing for America. Just ask Mitch McConnell.
December 13th, 2008 at 7:34 amI would search for emails and suspicious phone numbers relating to voter fraud. I cannot (or dont want to) believe that truly 27 Million people are that evil. I will be the first to say that I do not have enough rope to hand all of them.

December 13th, 2008 at 8:07 amOH and BTW, Lushy, OBAMA is GONNA KICK YOUR EVER LOVING MUTHERFCUKING ASSSS!
December 13th, 2008 at 8:07 amMaybe if you had paid some attention to history about 8 years ago we would have had a president that had learned from history that invading and occupying countries is a failed forign policy and that torture is counter-productive and damages your society.
You might also have understood that the unregulated free market economy was doomed to failure. You could have known these things if you had paid attention to history.
Many of us knew ahead of time where bush was leading us……..history, who’d have thought that you might learn something from it.
December 13th, 2008 at 9:22 amI wonder whether Sarah Palin’s Blackberry had Sarkozy’s private email address in it.
December 13th, 2008 at 9:49 amPoor misunderstood LushInterior, (and I mean that sincerely). It seems that the never-ending search for “wingnuts” and “trolls” has caught him in its drift net. Maybe after the waters are cleansed of all but good right-thinking lefties these methods could be applied to finding WMD in Irag or nuclear warheads in Iran.
Barack Obama is in a monumental struggle with his extreme right wing enemies, the Democratic party is making a pig’s breakfast out of their “leadership” position and this blog’s endless preoccupation with trashing the Righties over trivia is a dangerous distraction from the real work at hand.

President-ELECT Obama is ok. The only group trying to make this bs stick are the repugs and msm. Then again, all I’m hearing from most msm is that President-ELECT Obama is not involved.
why don’t you attack jj jr, he’s the one that played the game. you won’t go after jjj because he isn’t popular enough for your trash. you phony ass shiteater.

December 13th, 2008 at 10:55 amTo think that the Reich wing morons have been running this country for the last eight years………and this is just another blunder for the Anti American Party.
December 13th, 2008 at 11:01 amAnd 57 million Americans voted to give him and Bible Spice control over the nuclear codes. Scary!!!

December 13th, 2008 at 11:11 amI bet there are many unhappy people whose names and phone numbers are so available now.
December 13th, 2008 at 11:46 amJeesh! You’d have thought the campaign had smarter people than that – oh, wait, they did select Palin didn’t they?
Lush Interior, we ARE aware of the subterfuge and deceitful tactics around to destroy the middle class – we just have to change the subject some times. Read the previous post about Rice and the Republicans — I put a lengthy post there this morning.
