George W. Bush’s Nightmare Before Christmas.

Noting that President George Bush is “doing a last minute end-run, jamming as many rules through the executive branch as he can during his waning days in power,” Brave New Films has released “George W. Bush’s Nightmare Before Christmas.” A “satirical spin on the famous poem, ‘Twas the Night Before Christmas,” the film highlights Bush’s last-minute regulatory push:

While children are dreaming of toys, dolls and ponies,
I’m out here scheming how to help out my cronies.
Yes to all my pals in the big corporations.
Here’s my gift to you: some new regulations.

    – - George is treating the presidency as a thesis that he’s cramming for the night before it’s due, and he hasn’t even started it yet.

While I am a self professed progressive who was lucky enough to have Russ Feinghold as my senator at one time and yellow dog Democrat…one thing that is deceptive about this regulatory issue involves the trucking industry. I have heard the concerns about this “change” to the regulations about trucking several times and on several different media outlets. I work only in the trucking industry from a regulatory/legal perspective, and the fact is that the regulations that Bush has solidified via executive order have been in place since 2004. There were many court battles over the regulations, but they have been basically in place for 4 years. The current hours of service regulations (yes – those in the executive Order) actually REDUCE the number of hours that a driver can work consecutively (the previous regulations allowed a driver to work 15 consecutive hours after an 8 hour break. The current limit is 14 hours. To say “per day” as I have seen in the media is incorrect and misleading.) It increases the number of hours a driver can drive consecutively from 10 hours to 11, but requires a 10 hour break between driving instead of an 8 hour break. Truck driving regulations are very involved about what “working” or “on-duty” actually is vs. actual driving. Fatigue studies have consistenly held that the new regulations are an improvement on the previous regulations. While I work on behalf of trucking companies, the company I am with has petitioned for rule changes to the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration to restrict many aspects of trucking to make the highways safer. If the changes to the regulations made fatigue (which is second in the cause of truck accidents to poor driving by non-commercial vehicles) less of an issue, I would support them whole heartedly regardless of who put them forward. But criticism of the whole effort by Bush is undermined by mis-information. Just my thoughts on one of these issues…

The Cronies better work fast as they can because Jan. 20th at 12:10 pm the laws will change with the stroke of the pen. Daddy Bush is stilling crying and Barbara got sick because the worman’s group is laughing at her two dumb son’s Jeb and George. Laural is getting as much money as possible as she moves on with her rich Texan boyfriend. The twin Barbara can now out the close as she’s gay. Jenna doesn’t want anyone to know she’s related to the Bush Family. Jenna’s husband is looking to see what rewards the Bush Family will give him for marrying Jenna. The Days of our Bush lives continues.

Just over one more month to go. I hope we can make it to the finish line at least somewhat intact.

In the spirit of the holidays….his post has got it all wrong!!

Bush is not making a play on “The Night Before Chrismas,” he’s actually -, probably! – unwittingly, making a play on Tim Burton’s “The Nightmare Before Christmas.” In which, Sandy Claws makes a play on the event that brings cultures together….CHRISTMAS!!

Well, Bush made a play – and he was so, so wrong.

    Such a shame.

I hope the Obama’s never, ever feature their new pooch the way Barney has been exploited by the Bush’s in their Christmas warfare against our eyes and minds.

Someone please put that dog in the hands of PETA or the Red Cross. He’s an obvious victim of torture.

And yet, we do not hear one single Democrat coming out against these last minute rules. Even though they probably cannot change what Bush is doing, they can at least make the public aware of this war criminals last minute efforts to further sabotage this country. You can be sure the Republicans would be on every channel blasting a Democratic president

    The Democrats are spineless wimps
