Palin-appointed commission recommends $25,000 raise for the governor.

The new Alaska State Officers Compensation Commission has recommended that Gov. Sarah Palin (R) receive a 20 percent raise, pushing her salary up from $125,000 to $150,000. However, the five-member commission was appointed by the governor, with two of them selected “from lists recommended by legislative leaders.” At the same time, Palin has proposed cutting the state’s “general-fund spending” by 7 percent to “help cope with revenue shortfalls, in large part due to the free-fall in oil prices.”

Oh, thank goodness. Palin will be able to meet her wardrobe needs for the next three months.

  2. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

    Beat me to it, Zooey!

Maybe the extra money will help keep her in Alaska and away from the rest of us. Although, I suspect that she’d have to have something to give her more attention also.

Mama needs a new pair of shoes!

  4. Uncle Ho says:

Surprise, NOT! Cut state services, but raise the salary for the Bible Bimbo. Makes perfect sense to me.

    SNARK

  5. Bozo The Neoclown says:

I wonder if she’ll ask for fifty grand then tell her moronic followers on the campaign trail, “I said thanks but, no thanks”

  6. House of Roberts says:

Don’t ETHICAL states require salary increases to become official after an election? Never mind.

  7. Zimzone says:

Oh boy, Todd can get a new snowmobile.

Bristol can get a new boyfriend.

And Sara can give Bristol back her baby…

  8. lokidog says:

    I can hear Palin now:

“Todd, can you believe this? And we didn’t even have to threaten or fire anyone!”

  9. Jackie says:

Obama should look at how well Alaska is doing having enough money to give Sarah a 25,000 raise with taxpayers money. Looks like Alaska isn’t in a recession like the rest of the States. Now Sarah need not look for any money from the Obama Administratiion as I’ll make sure Rahm Emanuel and VP Joe Biden get this information.

  10. Bozo The Neoclown says:

ten to one says that “raise” isn’t coming from the budget. “raise” is the new republiscum code word for bribe.

  11. Chocolate Jesus says:

Dude, come on, how is she going to keep up her “soccer/moosehumping mom” imagine without 25,000 dollars more of clothes from the bargain bins..

    OT but hilarious: http://www.boingboing.net/2008/12/15/iraq-shoe-tosser-guy.html

  12. deebaser says:

That’s about 5 cents per resident. Pretty nice raise.

    About 30 cents per contituent.

THe mayor of NY doesn’t make that much per head.

    – - Plus a generous clothing allowance and per diem rate for living in her own house.
Btw, isn’t the baby due in mid-December? Like now?

  14. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Wait a minute! Alaska can’t afford to hire police for the rural areas of their state but they can afford to increase the gov’s salary by 25K?

There’s something wrong with that picture.

  15. Bozo The Neoclown says:

Dr. Hussein Matt you were being kind. the noun I was thinking of isn’t used in polite company outside of a kennel.

  16. Badmoodman says:

    – - Just a little reminder. There are people in rural Alaska who cannot afford heat. Alaska’s budget is based on $76/barrel oil. Oil, right now, is less than $40/barrel.

The budget does not adequately fund AK State Troopers, even on the most basic level, among many many other things. The national media is talking about facing the next Great Depression. And Governor Sarah Palin is going to get a raise?

  17. barracks9 says:

How far does 20K go as Hush Money in Mooseland? It must get pricey to keep all her dirty laundry out of the “press”…

  18. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

No cronyism here. Palin may be the new face of the republican party, but she is old school corrupt. She learned from the best in Don Young and Ted Stevens.

  19. Bozo The Neoclown says:

Dr. Hussein Matt Says: “According to the reich-wing, “socialist” is a dirty, dirty word.”

But torture isn’t. Ironically enough, their ever-lubbin’ Jeebus was a socialist but not a war criminal go figure.

these are some seriously f-ed up people.

  20. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >According to the reich-wing,
    >“socialist” is a dirty, dirty word.

Right, and according to the reich wing, “socialists” have the government take over successful businesse…while good capitalists only have the government take over failed businesses whose entire model is doomed to failure..

  21. ElBruce says:

The Commission also supplemented the standard governor’s perk package with “Mike Wooten’s head on a silver platter,” and “a FABULOUS $50,000 shopping spree!”

Said Palin, “it’s good to be da queen.”

  22. Bob says:

Yea, but it’s no VP salary, thank GOD.

  23. liz09 says:

someone please throw a snowshoe at her…

  24. APEC not OPEC says:

Palin caught shopping during working hours last week. This is a good for all things Palin and corrupt in Alaska.

  25. Chocolate Jesus says:

the more and more I find out about the fire at the Palin church, sounds like it was an inside job.. the MO of almost all arsonists is to strike late at night, when no one is around, to minimize the chance of being seen. apparently this arson was done when people were in the building, yet there was no attempt made to enter the building or start the fire inside the building itself…which would seemingly be the only reason a arsonist would risk trying to burn something down when people were around.

also, someone who knew the routines of the people inside the church would be much more likely to be so brazen as to set the fire when people were there.. a stranger would have no clue when people would be going in and out of the building..its pretty apparent the arsonist knew the scheduel of the people inside the building..

i’ll bet you anything the fire was done by a palin sypathizer, and given how violent and crazy the crowds she attracts are, im suprised no one in the media has discussed this possibility..come to think of it, knowing this media, i guess im not surprised..

  26. RWeSafer says:

Same commission she appointed that let her off the hook for Trooper-gate??

  27. cwarddc says:

Why would she get a $25,000 raise? Weren’t the legislators wearing “Where’s Sarah” buttons because she was never there? Maybe she should get a pay cut, but she probably convinced them that she needs a clothing allowance.

  28. Buckie Boy says:

She needs to do some clothes shopping in NYC…

…where are the receipts for the materials for their house on the lake?

…the one that was built by Todd and “some friends” in two months…

…at the same time the Sports Center was being built by the same contractor that bribed Ted Stevens..

…who also happen to be the “friends” that helped Todd…

    …the Palin’s are corrupt thieves.

  29. Bob says:

Seems like salaries of elected officials should be tied to the salaries of those they represent somehow. Did Alaskans’ salaries increase by 20% in the last year? Did their state revenue increase by 20%? Is there a surplus that she is solely responsible for?

It’s weird that rookie Congress people make over three times the national average. They wouldn’t be so out of touch if their pay were more equal to their constituents. You think minimum wage would be voted down if that’s what they made?

  30. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

I like the “throw snowshoes at her” line but I think “moose droppings” on them would be thematically better than dog sh*t.

  31. Razor_Boy says:

You may not know this, but this multi-tasking “mom” had a full time nanny the whole time that they were on the campaign trail.

Oh, and isn’t this the same lap dog panel that exonerated her about Trooper=gate one day before the election?

    R_B

  32. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

No, JK, but thanks for playing. You seem awfully proud that you found the bold tag and the question mark key. Good on ya’, little fella. Maybe one of these days you’ll find a clue.

  33. pete says:

Good. Now Boble Spice can afford that dream wedding for Bristol and Levi. Wait a minute. Where’s Levi?

  34. pete says:

    Oops! “boble”=Bible

  35. Leftside Annie says:

    How *very* nice for her!

  36. dasm says:

the five-member commission was appointed by Palin

What a surprise they want to increase her salary– I guess at least it will pay for her make-up & hair for 5 days.

    December 17th, 2008 at 5:01 pm

    Well, not really.

    Actually, not at all.

Totally lame…..now I’m sad for the John Kerry troll. :(

    Well, not really.

  38. Chocolate Jesus says:

    >Is this kinda like Brotha Obama coming to
    >the conclusion that he and his handlers

No, this isnt like when the PROSECUTOR whose prosecuting Blago
came to the conclusion that Obama had nothing to do with it..

  39. SP Biloxi says:

“Palin-appointed commission recommends $25,000 raise for the governor.”

Yup, you betcha. Palin is the new GOP party darling and the new Uncle Ted Stevens with lipstick.

  40. impeachcheneythenbush says:

I’m assuming that the legislature has to approve ALL pay raises, and considering that Palin rarely shows up in her office to work, plus the short-fall in Alaska’s budget due to cuts in the price of oil, it will be interesting whether it gets approved. Depends, I suppose, on whether or not those legislators also receive a “recommendation” from the commission for pay raises..

  41. roscoe says:

She’s worth every gosh darn penny doncha know.

  42. Leftside Annie says:

My company’s passing out 3% raises – and that’s for exceptional merit – this year.

    Just sayin’.

  43. Chris L says:

In other news, water is wet. I bet the “Palin-appointed” commission also thinks she should be president.

  44. curious says:

Golly, who could have seen that coming.

  45. mercury6966 says:

F**k Palin I hope she chokes on that bloody moose meat she hunts.

Sarah Palin is a corrupt corporatist.
