I think Obama could have made a better choice for the Invocation…but the Invocation is a symbolic gesture. If Rick Warren can help Obama get Full Civil Rights for Gay couples…even if it is Not Called Marriage….then Obama will have once again demonstated his Political Savy.

i may be mistaken, but i don’t recall that this announcement came from Obama himself… at least that’s not how i first heard it…

i think that if he had made a special announcement about it – something like, ‘i have made a decision about something that i’m aware could be controversial and i want to explain why i have decided the way i have…’ – maybe, MAYBE, that decision would have been better received… it kinda felt like an underhanded move, a bit too much of that ego determining such…

besides being a mistake in the WHO, it was a mistake in the HOW.
a little too much authoritarian determination there… i wouldn’t have liked it any better, but at least wouldn’t feel like i’ve been blindsided…
