Cheney: I told Leahy to ‘f*ck’ himself because ‘I thought he merited it.’

This morning on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked Vice President Cheney about his now infamous June 2004 exchange with Sen. Pat Leahy (D-VT), when he told Leahy to “f*ck yourself.” Cheney confirmed that he used the obscenity, saying, “I thought he merited it at the time”:

WALLACE: Did you tell Senator Leahy, “bleep yourself”?

CHENEY: I did.

WALLACE: Any qualms, second thoughts, or embarrassment?

CHENEY: No, I thought he merited it at the time and we’ve since patched over that wound.

Later in the program, Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol remarked that he thought Cheney’s comments represented “a beautiful statement, really, of justice.” “Dick Cheney is going out defending justice in the end,” Kristol concluded. Watch a compilation:

    Unfu(kingbelievable.

  3. DNFP Says:

    How nobly Christian.

    Jesus must be so proud.

  4. Marie Says:

I forced myself to watch most of the interview with this
em-effer. The lying s.o.b. is arrogant as ever, re-writing history, refusing to back down on anything, and being generally disagreeable, peevish; and certainly deserving of criminal prosecution for his deeds.

  5. valletta Says:

if you haven't read it already get John Dean's book "Conservatives without Conscience" where he talks about "authoritarianism" and the Republican party.

Cheney is a classic "double high" socially dominant/right wing authoritarian. No remorse ever, arrogant, cheasting liar. And those are just a few of his traits.
Oh and Bush is his perfect puppet, which we all knew back in the fall of 2000...

  6. Badger Says:

When commenting on the "Justice" of Cheney's Statement, Mr. Kristol said he thought people should get What They Deserved.

    Amen

  7. jb Says:

Bill Kristol wouldn't know Justice if it bit him on the ass. And I hope it does.

  8. suziq Says:

billy-goat would change his tune if he was on the wrong side of cheney-style justice.

  9. gummitch Says:

“Dick Cheney is going out defending justice in the end,” Kristol concluded.

Cheney has been doing something to justice in the back end for eight years now.

I just feel sorry for whoever it is that feels the need to watch these idiots on FauxNooze and report back to the real world.

  10. Buckie Boy Says:

we’ve since patched over that wound....

    ....no, we haven't...

    ....go fcuk yourself....WAR CRIMINAL.

  11. ucsbclassics53 Says:

You forget when Republicans say the f word, it becomes a paean to the angels on high...

  12. impeachcheneythenbush Says:

Bill Kristol has been wrong about everything, and he's wrong about this as well. Cheney defending justice...only in their version of an alternate universe!

  13. GL2814 Says:

Kristol has his nose so far up Cheney's a** I swear he must be Pinnochio!

I think I heard that line in the movie Platoon, but man, it sure applies here! What an a$$hole.

  14. jb Says:

Could some please throw a shoe at Cheney.....and Kristol too. The message just isn't getting through. You crooks are guilty and we all know it.

  15. jb Says:

    some=someone....sorry

  16. Bozo The Neoclown Says:

"CHENEY: No, I thought he merited it at the time and we’ve since patched over that wound."

was that before or after you sent him the letter full of anthrax, scumbag?

  17. The Republic of Stupidity Says:

A statement of justice? Kritol, you're a human colostomy bag.

Leahy was lucky on 2 counts...

    1. Cheney hadn't been drinking.

    2. Cheney forgot his shotgun.

  18. Jackie Says:

Leahy remembers the Watergate years very well and let's see if this smart lawyer turned Senator has what it takes to bring down the next Nixon. Cheney like Nixon seems to feel no one can get him in the crimes he committed. The United Nations can bring charges of War Crimes and Leahy can file a civil suit of the trillions Cheney has stole for Halliburton and other Oil Companies. Then there's the young AG who hasn't learned the old school politcs game of pay to play. Cheney knows the old times like Reid, Pelosi, Feinstein, Dodd, Shumer and others know the DC game and play it well. Power of the President and VP brings kick back money in the backroom deals. Many Republicans and Democrats have gotten paid very well to pay to play over the 8 years. But Obama and other young new elected Law Makers see it differently. Republicans like Senator Specter quickly closed the case on the murder of JFK and explain the Magic Bullet that even Harry Potter wouldn't believe. Obama learned his history and what Republicans will do and how far they will go. Even Prescott Bush and friends plotted to kill FDR because he was doing to much for the people. Rove is so scared he resorted to death threats to a fellow Ohio insider and surprise the young man is dead. Mafia style with a GOP touch.

  19. Game of Life Says:

bloodyk doesn't know the difference between death's cya and justice.

  20. Zooey Says:

Weekly Standard Editor Bill Kristol remarked that he thought Cheney’s comments represented “a beautiful statement, really, of justice.”

Yeah? How fast would Kristol's head spin off his neck if Obama told ANYONE to go f uck themselves?

  21. Alecto Says:

The outgoing traitor-cabal has only the down-fall of America as its interest. Since Max Headroom Ronnie Raygun spewed forth his traitorous 11 words for all to be afraid of: "I am from the government and I am here to help." No one has listened to the continuous traitorous vile GOP eminations and their desire to circumvent the Constitution at every possible turn. All Rightwing radio, Christ-fascist preachers, K-street "think tank", and crap like Grover UNdies-in-a-twist, "I want to shrink government to the size it fits in a bathtub and then drown it. HELLO!!! that is MY government, and the ONE your Heir Leader has sworn to defend and uphold. Yeah right. ANd then we have the LOVELY PNAC.

The GOP needs to be executed, entombed in concrete, have lye poured into the tomb, and then blasted off in a rocket to the sun.

    The GOP is TREASONOUS.

    New 11 words:
"I am from the GOP, and I know how to govern."

  22. Fred Says:

    The bizzaro world of cheney...

  23. questionauthority Says:

Okay, Mr. Cheney. You believe Senator Leahy 'merited it at the time.' Well then, let me have just a moment to share with you what you merit at the moment; AND FOR ALL ETERNITY.

YOU CAN BET THERE WILL BE A VERY SPECIAL PLACE IN HELL JUST FOR YOU!!!

What you and your cronies have done to America, and the world is beyond words. You are, and will be, the most despised Vice President, of the most despised Administration in America's history. You've ruined your Party for decades to come, and nearly ruined our Nation with your arrogance, obstinance, and incompetence (however, you did manage to enrich yourself in the process.) Nice legacy; hope you're proud of yourself. Your petty, obscene, and utterly insignificant pride is all you'll ever have.

  24. 5150 Says:

Cheney can return home to a wife and a dog but Senator Leahy should just beat it.

  25. kasinca Says:

Dick Cheney is the lowest form of individual the USA has to offer...a lying, chickensh$t, chickenhawk, five deferment, cowardly, thug who cares nothing for the USA, it's citizens or it't constitution.

Bloody Billy Kristol continues that he can be wrong about everything imaginable. What great examples of the scumbag spokespeople for the GOP. Disgusting cowards, both.

  26. LiberalVoter Says:

Interesting turn of phrase "...we’ve since patched over that wound." Patching over is not healing. Cheney is pure arrogant evil. I almost wish I believed in hell so Cheney had someplace to go but I am not even sure I would wish dumping Cheney on the devil. What a despicable lowlife.

  27. wiley Says:

Frightening when they tell the truth, isn't it?

  28. ElBruce Says:

I don't really have any problems with a bit of salty language on the Congressional floor, and I think all this hulabaloo about Cheney's remark is kind of funny.

But Kristol is off his freaking gourd if he thinks somebody telling someone else to f**k themselves has a damn thing to do with "justice."

  29. tom Says:

    1. Cheney hadn’t been drinking.

I beg to differ. Cheney is clearly an active alcoholic just like his little meat puppet, GDumbya. They both have been exhibiting all the classic signs of late -- chief amongst them grandiosity and deep, deep denial.

  30. realpatriot Says:

Maybe the Hague would consider themselves justified too .......

  31. Johnsnottoodistracted Says:

In the world of dickman f-ing yourself is a good thing.
When he said that he thought he was saying hello to a friend.
Yes, he is out there. In fact there is no landing strip for him. He's stuck out there.

  32. dave from queens Says:

Actually the only good thing about this is that I know use the F word a lot less in life.

I simply say, "Cheney You" or "Go Cheney yourself." I would use the F word in lieu of the word Cheney but I don't want to insult it.

  33. Monte Asbury Says:

How astonishingly hypocritical it is of the Religious Right to cheer Cheney on. They would not countenance such talk from someone who did not offer them a hope of power.

Imagine their outrage if Barack Obama had said such a thing.

  34. roscoe Says:

What an embarassment & disgrace to this country & the office of Vice President. I have a size 11 boot that I would love to plant in his arse.

  35. panthercat Says:

In which case, The Evil Dickhead can f**k off and die, because he merits it.

  36. marlow Says:

Dickles, if Leahy has earned that, you've earned yourself a Goddammed firing squad. And that's being generous. Die please, ASAP.

  37. EugeneDebs Says:

And if the Hague hangs you by the neck until DEAD or puts you in prison for the rest of your life, DARTH, that will be because you 'merit it'
