U.S. News reports that “President George H.W. Bush is a bit miffed that Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin hasn’t returned his phone calls of congrats for a good effort in the presidential election.” Bush has reportedly called Palin twice: The first time, he left a message at McCain headquarters after she was chosen as the VP candidate. After the election was over, he left a message with the governor’s office. Palin’s aide claims that they never received the messages. (Of course, during the election, Palin had plenty of time to take calls from pranksters.)

December 22nd, 2008 at 11:06 amWell, in all fairness, I wouldn’t have called him back either.

December 22nd, 2008 at 11:10 amSorry folks, but Palin has wised up about Saturday Night Live by now. She knows who George W. Bush is, but George H. W. Bush is obviously a comedian impersonator.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:10 amAs we all know Palin reads “all of the newspapers” she can just call Bush himself and say ‘wazzzup?”
But yeah, Amanda, this bit of gossip is of no consequence.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:12 amThe holidays are upon us. As a gift, TP, how about we forego all Palin stories for, say, a week? That would be lovely, just what I wanted!
And John Kerry, in the spirit of the season, how about you phuck off until after the New Year? Thanks, much appreciated!
PEACE
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:17 amOh, nevermind.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:22 amJohn Kerry, I think it would be helpful if you explained to us what you think is fiction in this story and what FACTS contradict it.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:24 amSpencers mom, I’ll fervently second that.
Phuck off, JK.
Oh – and HAPPY HOLIDAYS!!
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:26 amI got put in moderation. I can see why :>. I’ll re-do this worthless post as a fill-in-the-blank.

Oh, come on now! I think that “cow” is a bit harsh for ol’ moosey______, you betcha’. That ____ was wearing her finest neo-nazi ____ clothes (when she wasn’t wrapped in a hotel towel like a _____ between tricks). Its just not nice to say things like “cow” about the padded-bra-and-pants wearing __________ of the republican old boys club. She was all set to be the _______ girl at all the important closed secret meetings. So, don’t be so mean as to call her a “cow”.
Cows don’t give milk for free — you gotta take it from ‘em.
She’s a ________.
My god, at least if we do hear about her, can it be something of interest? It’s even getting tiring being a complete pig about insulting the incompetent ________.

Hey, I was impressed that he had progressed beyond a ditto machine. (old person’s reference)
And, as far as I can tell, only one person here has noticed that George H W Bush isn’t the president.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:31 amkonchster Says: If we have to talk about this cow let’s talk about how her and her kids pal around with meth lab operators
Actually the drug at issue is oxycontin.
But the statement from Palin’s office is somewhat interesting:
“A spokesman for Gov. Palin on Thursday said the arrest was “not a state government matter” and so no comment or interviews on the topic would be forthcoming.”
So Johnston’s arrest is “not a state matter”, but Palin employed her staff to pressure the Police to bring charges against and fire her sister’s ex-husband.

Sarah Palin is the economic justice princess, tp should accept her with open arms. If only Christians would let nature run its course and stop paddling upstream it would be a more peaceful world.
This looks to be the first thought you didn’t have to cut-and-paste, and much to our surprise (not!), it doesn’t make a lick of sense.
December 22nd, 2008 at 11:36 amGHWBush is old news, old in general, & even Palin blows him off.
Face it, HW, you Son is a born loser. You will only be remembered in history as the Bush that preceded the total failure Bush.
How nice…

December 22nd, 2008 at 11:42 amListen Think Progress writers, I love your site, but you can’t be posting little snarky comments like the one above saying “(Of course, during the election, Palin had plenty of time to take calls from pranksters.)”. Ok, of course you can write whatever you like, but I think cheap shots like that just lower your credibility and leave you open for criticism. That prank call had nothing to do with Palin not taking Pres. Bush’s calls.

I respectfully disagree.

No, it did not, and most likely she does not think she is “too important” to take HW’s calls. Who cares? She is a useless tool, voted in by lusty people who are ashamed of their lust. She is IN politics only because she chose to exploit herself. That makes her a suitable applicant for any of a list of derogatory names, mostly geared toward certain female types of loose moral fiber. The GOP thought that her appeal as a party ______ would do well enough in the national arena. Unfortunately for them, it is the repug constituency that are 1 or 2 issue voters (such as “I’ll vote for the MILF, who cares about her policies” types). The majority of American voters do not decide based on one or two issues.
December 22nd, 2008 at 12:01 pmThat’s pretty outrageous. Who does she think she is?
I have been a shrill, strident liberal my entire adult life, and if President H.W. Bush called me, I’d drop everything and call him back.

December 22nd, 2008 at 12:46 pmThe best thing that could possibly happen to Democrats would be a resurgent “Palin-republican” movement to draft her as the next repub candidate for president! That’s what I’m hoping for. Come on you bible-thumpers! Get to work! She’s your candidate! Get behind her! I really think you can win something if you just all get behind Sarah Palin! Please.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:07 pmJohn Kerry: “Try checking your FACTS before writing fiction!!”
Okay, are we talking fact-based fiction or non-fiction? Usually checking “facts” is done with non-fiction work unless the fiction is “fact-based.” Kerry, could you be a little more specific or less obtuse please? Which “facts” are you contesting?
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:10 pmAt least she showed the common sense not to torture him with that SHRILLLLLL SCREEEECH of hers.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:15 pmOh come St. Sarah Of Palin has more important things to do like:
1-Modeling all of her new expensive clothes to her gal pals back in Wasilla.
2-Arranging the arson of her church so that they can build a new mega-Church to better accomadate their rising political star.
3-Caring for her special needs grandson…oops I mean son.
4-Protecting America by keeping a vigilant eye on Putin and Russia.
5-Reading all of those newspapers.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:19 pmNothing gets the bible-thumpers more crazy than dissing their heretic queen.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:20 pmI don’t think even Sarah is stupid enough to blow off an ex-president within the political party where she hopes to make her political career. That would be like blowing off the pope if you hope to advance to archbishop. Sarah’s not the brightest bulb on the string, but surely she’s savvy enough to recognize who the elder statesmen in her party are.
According to the blogger who broke this “story”, the first call H.W. made was to McCain HQ after Palin was announced as his running mate. Considering how sloppy this campaign was run, it’s entirely possible that Bush’s message and request for a callback was lost (even though that would be unthinkable in an organization that was — um — organized).
The second message was left with Palin’s own staff after the election was over. This message should have reached the governor, and the fact that it didn’t means that her own staff is as sloppy as the McCain campaign was. Either that, or H.W. is lying through his teeth (but why would he?).
Or the other possibility — Palin got both messages and thought they were radio pranks.
December 22nd, 2008 at 1:52 pmJohn Kerry is just mad that the stories related to Obama in the National Enquirer and the like are always wrong…and he doesn’t know why.
Just a thought, maybe Sarah Palin has been “sampling” some of the “local cuisine” to cure her post election ills. Being connected with the likable Bush would only help her. But maybe her phone has taken a life of its own or those clothes she still has are telling her to cut herself.
December 22nd, 2008 at 2:44 pmdoncha know that it takes alot of work managing a big energy state like Alaska, you betcha. Plus I have all of this gosh darn work to do to plan my you know run in 2012. I’m too busy talkin to gosh darn real Americans to call back GHW Bush.
December 22nd, 2008 at 3:51 pmshe was busy getting christmas card photos taken with bristol, the guy who knocked her up and the other grandma. they were tight on time before they threw levi’s mother in the slammer for dealing hillbilly heroin.

December 22nd, 2008 at 4:44 pmHow can Sarah answers Bush when she spends hours of her time talking to her new admirer..Joe The Plumber.
December 22nd, 2008 at 5:05 pmI have a PalinPain in my BushHole.
December 22nd, 2008 at 7:47 pmSarah isn’t interested in a weak old man who can’t even walk as both his hips are broke. Yes many old man with money and power are looking for a quick feel from Sarah or even just a wink. Daddy Bush has been woman hunting for many years as he uses vigra. Time and age has caught up with him and the old man isn’t what the use to be. Looking at the few minutes he gave the Press he looked like he was 200 years old. For many years Barbara looked like George H.W. Bush’s Mother. Now he’s so old looking it’s sad. Sarah will wait for the GOP to pick the next Power Player for the Party and then she will take him own to get what she wants. Sarah has shown she isn’t smart in education or thing else, but she knows how to use her sexuality to move up. Unlce Ted did well as did Sarah. Some old timer might want to take Sarah in and buy her clothers. Notice how Bristol hasn’t had her second baby yet. The clock is ticking and it looks like Sarah lied.
December 22nd, 2008 at 8:42 pmWhy would Bush be trying to call Sarah Palin. Damn, that boy loves to chase skirts! It’s funny what a little whiskey will do to the Shrub.
December 22nd, 2008 at 9:48 pmSpeaking of George Herbert Walker Bush:
What if basically all racial-minority people would subscribe to the interpretations that George Herbert Walker Bush committed monstrous, racist, hate crimes while he was the President of the United States?
It will eventually come out: it is only a matter of time.
