Rev. Pat Robertson: ‘I am remarkably pleased with Obama…he’s picked a middle-of-the-road Cabinet.’

In an interview with CNN’s The Situation Room, conservative televangelist Pat Robertson ripped the Bush administration for its failures in mishandling and mismanaging the economic bailout, adding that it’s the last in a long line of “serious goofs” under Bush. After giving Bush a C- for his presidency, Robertson said he’s “remarkably pleased with Obama.” Despite having “grave misgivings about him” earlier, Robertson said he now lauds Obama for picking a “middle-of-the road Cabinet.” “I’m very pleased so far,” he concluded. Wellll if Pat is in favor of it, that’s all I need to know.

but how come he is for a “middle of the road” cabinet with Obama but for a far-extreme cabinet with Bush ?

So, Pat? Who gives a flying fck what you think?? Why don’t you go drink some of your fancy godshakes and leg press 1000 pounds — and STFU?

  5. hivanh says:

Seriously now, folks. Does anybody care one little twit what this idot thinks? Puleeeze.

  6. Wayne says:

Why would CNN interview this flaming fruitcake to begin with?
Why didn’t CNN ask him to demonstrate his self proclaimed ability to bench press 1,000 pounds or any of the bald faced lies this prevaricator masquerading as a “holy man” spews from his face?

  7. republicanSScareme says:

It’s encouraging to know that a clown endorses Obama’s cabinet.

  8. wiley says:

    I’d give Bush a big F though.

  9. wiley says:

Unfortunately, Pat Robertson is very influential in the little sector of our nation that has been riding roughshod over our culture. He did give Bush a C-. Even a broken clock is right twice a day. There are certainly worse leads the perennial followers could follow than being pleased with Obama (which is still underlined with red by the spell check (add our president-to-be to the dictionary, please)).

It’s understandably not much of an endorsement to most of us.

  10. Leftside Annie says:

    Bush’s non-response to Katrina was a “serious goof”…??

I’m appalled at the callousness of these people. Just …appalled.

  11. 666lattes says:

Let’s be real. He’s just pleased that Obama gave gays the middle-finger by inviting Warren to deliver the invocation.

  12. Curlew says:

Oh boy. If Pat “Lets blow up the State Department Building” Robertson says Barack’s cabinet is ok….we need to be very afraid.

  13. RUCerious says:

Pat’s just sucking up to see if he gets the coveted Secretary of Leg Lifts position.

  14. chucko33 says:

TP droppe the ball here. TP should have covered what I just complained about in a message to CNN (by phone): Pat Robertson lied on air about Scooter Libby not being the leaker in the Valerie Plame case – he wants Bush to pardon him now. Suzanne Malveaux, who interviewed Robertson, just totallyy let him get away with repeating the right-wing talking point lie that only Richard Armitage leaked her name to the media. I scolded Suzanne Malveaux in my message and hope blogs like this eventually do.

I am tired of the press not doing their homework on this case. There were three primary leakers (Libby, Karl “double secret background” Rove, Armitage) and the only reasons Rove and Armitage knew about Plame’s secret status was through a State Department memo he (Libby) ordered to be worked up (via a request by the Vice President’s office) to find info on Joseph Wilson’s 2002 Niger trip. That memo contained not only info about Joe but secret info on Valerie (and there ended up being 2 versions of it that got circulated amongst top Bush officials).

Armitage swears he didn’t know that memo had info on a covert agent (Valerie) and I believe him, but Rove and Libby definitely knew what they were doing but somehow only Rove escaped an indictment – and now Robertson and other ignorant losers wanted him fully pardoned even though he never spent a day in jail, thanks to Bush’s commutation.

And Murray Waas has uncovered more info about Dick Cheney and Libby’s role in the whole case that sheds a little more light on how they came to decide to leak Valerie’s name to the media and whether or not they knew they were outing a covert CIA agent. Go read it at http://www.Crooksandliars.com now!

Pat Robertson is attempting to switch sides, because he’s a slimy slug.

We’ll keep exposing you for what you really are, Pat.

Snatchin’ up money everywhere he can.”

666lattes: “Let’s be real. He’s just pleased that Obama gave gays the middle-finger by inviting Warren to deliver the invocation.”

Why isn’t the Reverand Lowry’s Benediction a middle-finger to the right? Lowry’s a balls-out lefty and for total inclusion. That’s a slap in the face to everyone who follows Warren, right?

  18. 49erDem says:

chucko: “I am tired of the press not doing their homework on this case.”

Man, the “press” knows exactly what went on and did their homework. They just didn’t report and when they did, they parsed hard.

This is all about the difference in the way the elite DC press corp acts when Repubs are running things. You can get in real career trouble for being aggressive with conservatives. Not so much for being aggressive with Democrats.

  19. 49erDem says:

Speaking of real career trouble, I noticed that Ashley Banfield has surfaced a little again. Now that the crime family is leaving office, maybe she’ll be able to resurrect her career.

  20. sectionop92 says:

I wonder how many profane letters Pat and his 700 friends got from viewers saying how their homes and retirement savings were gone thanks to the real great Satan, G.W. Bush and his cronies?

It perfectly fine if you read the letters on-air of viewers having God cure their back pains or arthritis, but it’s another when their assets are repossessed two weeks until X-Mas.

So does this now mean Pat is done taking walks in his backyard, then handing out God’s financial wisdom and practices after their conversations? If Pat didn’t hide behind religion, he’d be in a state mental institution and facing numerous lawsuits for his schizophrenia.

  21. 666lattes says:

    49erDem,

Does Rev. Lowery not allow unrepentant right-wingers to join his church?

  22. 49erDem says:

666, I don’t know. It was purely rhetorical and believe me, I’m on your side. My problem is that this is all ceremonial, not public policy, and we are allowing the media to create the false impression that the Obama team turned the religious part of the show over to a right winger alone. They have absent-mindedly forgotten to point out that there are two religious speakers from opposite sides of the spectrum. As far as Warren is concerned, I find the fact that he has now taken offensive anti-gay language off his site a step in the right direction.

But, my guess would be that Lowry doesn’t exclude anyone. He’s the liberal.

  23. spencers mom says:

Okay, I know I’m about to get my ass handed to me, but…

I think it’s a good thing that people like Robertson are willing to give Obama the benefit of the doubt BECAUSE it will make the congressional GOPers look even more like the obstructionists they are/will be when they try to foil Obama’s agenda.

But I still hate giving Warren an international stage during the inauguration. There are millions of gay people around that world who would be put to death if their homosexuality is exposed, yet Obama is basically looking the other way by lending credence to a gay basher.

    PEACE

You can keep your behind in place, spencers mom. We all like what you have to say.

You could literally morph these two more ways than one.

  27. 49erDem says:

spencers mom: “yet Obama is basically looking the other way by lending credence to a gay basher.”

There is evidence that Warren has lost a lot of credibility with the conservative evangelical community because of this. Maybe their movement is being eroded as much or more than the gay rights movement.

Look people, full disclosure here: I’m still in a full give-Obama-the-benefit-of-the-doubt mode and I won’t be budged until next year, probably after I start seeing exactly what public policy will come out of his administration. So apologies all around for being annoyingly positive about Obama.

  28. 666lattes says:

“As far as Warren is concerned, I find the fact that he has now taken offensive anti-gay language off his site a step in the right direction.”

I agree (and I know you are). And I think he could have done much worse than Warren if he wanted to go full-on Right-wing. Other than promoting homophobia, Warren seems to be doing a good job at leading evangelicals towards otherwise progressive issues like care for the environment etc.

I was initially just trying to get in the small mind of Pat Roberts and that was undoubtedly a mistake. Thanks for your patience.

  29. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

I wonder if Pat would agree that the burning of St. Sarah Of Palins church was an act of God as punishment for her spreading hate and bearing false witness while on the campaign trail and rubbing elbows with a witch doctor?? What you say to that Pat, you phony phuck!

  30. ElBruce says:

Woo, I wasn’t certain about that Obama guy, but now that Pat’s weighed in… hey wait, isn’t that the guy who said 9/11 was caused by hot homo humpin’?

  31. 49erDem says:

666lattes: “I was initially just trying to get in the small mind of Pat Robertson”

Whenever I think of Robertson, I can’t help but remember Frank Zappa, especially “Heavenly Bank Account” and of course, “Dumb All Over.”

“You can’t run a country on a book of religion.
Not by a heap or a smudge or a smidgon
Of foolish rules from ancient date
Designed to make you all feel great,
While you bend, fold and mutilate
Those unbelievers in the neighboring state.”

    Happy holidays, everyone! I’m out!

Some reichwing Psychochristians have condemned Warren for accepting Obama’s invitation. And now Patsy is preaching apostasy. The bonds between “rational” neocons and the pitiful fools they have used to seize a disproportionate amount of influence are being stretched.

I love fundy fights. Merry Christmas to me!

  34. octamethyl says:

    Glad you’re happy, Pat.
Jerry Falwell awaits you in hell with a tube of astroglide.

  35. Jackie says:

Did God tell Pat that or did he think of it all by himself. Look for more suck ups in the coming weeks. Don’t forget Pat the religious one said God did that to the Katrina victims and also the US should assassinate Chavez.

  36. 666lattes says:

“and also the US should assassinate Chavez.”

To be fair he said “take him out”. He may have meant “for a cerveza”.

  37. tokin librul says:

    Robertson doesn’t ‘change sides.’

If he’s happy with Obama’s cabinet, somebody needs to be fired, yesterday.

  38. rastaman says:

    OK…..NOW I AM SCARED

  39. pete says:

The thing to keep in mind is that Patsy isn’t a preacher or a politician. He’s a conman. And, like any successful parasite, he realizes that the first rule is; DON’T KILL THE HOST.

If he jumped on the “Obama is the Antichrist we’re all gonna die” bandwagon, his donations would dry up while the fearful and ignorant build “Rapture shelters” and stock up on guns and ammo. And the simple fact, obvious to any rational person, that Obama is a man of Faith and morals makes his game very difficult.

If things improve during Obama’s administration we should see a shift of Psychochristians towards support of his Presidency. Patsy and his ilk won’t be left behind (no pun intended). And, since their victims are not very smart, we could see American Evangelicals get redirected towards actually advancing the best ideals of our society.

  44. dbadass says:
