Bush rewards top aides with appointments to boards and commissions.

In his last days in office, President Bush is busy doling out “presents to some of his top aides.” Not Medals of Freedom to hang around their necks. Rather, they’re key spots on governmental boards and commissions. Condoleezza Rice “got a spot on the John F. Kennedy Center’s board of trustees until September 2014. The position should guarantee her good seats at the performing arts venue for the next six years.” Carlos Gutierrez and Barry Jackson, a former Rove aide, will be appointed by Bush to the board of trustees of the Woodrow Wilson International Center for Scholars. “The Christmas Eve appointments will allow them to serve far beyond Jan. 20, the end of Mr. Bush’s term in office.”

Update On a related note, Bush has also been burrowing his political appointees into civil service posts within the government.

    – - Thank you, #43, for providing political cover for #44 when things will inevitably get screwed up.

Hmm, maybe the burrowers make that a fait accompli. Oh well, Merry Christmas to all you out in the ether.

Burrowing eh? Can you say ’shadow government?’

So what did they do in return. What does Bush get? Appreciation? These are bleeping valuable things. You don’t just give them away.

    Exactly!

What’s the difference between what blago is doing and what chimpy is doing?

these folks are chimpy’s “sleeper cells.”

  6. Game of Life says:

President-Elect Obama should make them reapply for their positions so it won’t be another brownie affair.

Hose the shit out after every milking.

  8. Jackie says:

Those appointees will lose their jobs after Obama gets in as it was done illegal. Now as for Miss Thing Connie Rice, she will not be able to serve in her position because she will be in jail for War Crimes. Powell is sucking up to Obama in hopes he will help a brother out when the War Crimes charges are filed. Karl Rove has nightmares of Pat Fitzgerald proescuting him at trial. Libby is hopeing Eric Holder will give him clemency. Rummy will sign himself in a nursing home and say he’s to old to go to trial. Ohters will be singing like birds and ask for a plea agreement.

It will take the Obama administration, at least, four years to purge Bushbots and Liberty “University” grads from the government.

Bush the Mafia Murderer planting moles in LIBERAL DEMOCRATIC institutions?! The Kennedy Center and Woodrow Wilson Center. How malevolent. Why can’t Obama remove these miscreants?

  11. MapleStreet says:

Dumb Question: How will the qualifications of these folks match the qualifications needed for the position ?

Let’s face it, even when filling vital positions for his own folk, Bush installed the discredited honcho of the American Quarterhouse Assn as head of FEMA.

He has to, can’t have remnants of a shitty admin in place.

  13. Left Coast Mike says:

Use Bush’s own BS against him…declare them all to be enemy combatants and lock them up until they resign their posts.

    Problem solved.

Bush rewards top aides with appointments to boards and commissions . . . were hey will spend the next few years infecting their surroundings with failed “conservative” values like death, debt and hate.
