Photo surfaces of Bush with the father of pardoned housing scam artist Isaac Toussie.

Earlier this week, the White House revoked the pardon of Isaac Toussie after media reports revealed a number of improprieties in the case. While the Bush administration has insisted that pardons are granted without political considerations, Toussie’s immediate family contributed nearly $40,000 to Republicans. The New York Daily News has now posted a picture of President Bush smiling and shaking hands with Robert Toussie, the father of the real estate scammer, taken in early 2008. The elder Toussie donated $28,500 to the Republican National Committee in April; it’s unclear whether this picture was taken before or after that donation.

Update Rep. Eric Cantor's (R-VA) campaign has said that it plans to keep the $2,300 in contributions it received from Robert Toussie.

Let’s play a game: Which quotes are from serial killers and which are from George W. Bush? Answers will be posted tomorrow.

  2. Jackie says:

At lease the price for a Pardon is now public doesn’t any one know what the going price for a Senate or Congress set is? Toussie will get what he paid for or ask for a refund. At lease Republicans are letting the public and the World know what’s for sale in the United States of America. For enough money you can buy just about anything in America.

  3. Cats r Flyfishn says:

The trash does seem to gather together somehow. There’s always a picture lurking somewhere of Bush with his criminal friends.

  4. Helen Hussein Rainier says:

So, is this picture with Bush what old man Toussie got for his contribution, along with the pardon-unpardon of Toussie’s son? Hardly a prize worth the money.

  5. Cats r Flyfishn says:

If enough money can buy anything in America, then I wish someone with money would pick up the tab for the $700 billion Wall Street bailout. Come on rich Bush supporters, show your patriotism and pick up this tab.

  6. Cats r Flyfishn says:

Bush loves getting his picture taken with his fellow criminals.

What a rug! Next time invest in a better toupee, Toussie! You could lose a poodle in that thing!

And Toussie’s left hand was in Georgie’s pocket, or was he patting him on the ass?

    Nice rug, Toussie.

    Not.

I seem to recall quite a few Republican leaning individuals who came unglued when Marc Rich was pardoned. Claimed it was because Rich’s first wife donated a lot of money to Clinton. It was an outrage! Bush would bring back honor to the White House.

Next up, a Presidential pardon from Bush for Bernard Madoff.

    sigh……

  19. Progressive Veteran says:

This article is just retarded, and its exactly what the Republican party was doing with Obama and Ayers, and his minister, and etc.

    This is disgusting, and hypocritical.

  20. nigel says:

It doesn’t take anything away from the whole hoompa over this pardon/retraction but The more I look at that picture the more it looks photoshoped.

  21. SP Biloxi says:

Oh, don’t tell me. Bush is going to say that he doesn’t know Toussie in that pic. Bush certainly denied the photos with Abramoff and himself. It seems that Bush can’t get away from his criminal cronies. Graft follows Bush like a huge dark cloud everywhere he goes.

Another topic for this slow news cycle—campaign finance reform. Sure we’re used to candidates getting all this money from contributors, but isn’t it slimy at heart? This guy had 40,000 votes.

  24. jurassicpork says:

    One’s the president. The other’s a client.

  25. SP Biloxi says:

Rep. Eric Cantor campaign is going to keep the $2,300 of Toussie contributions. It’s certainly hard out there for the Repub pimps. Yup, that’s the Good Old Peddler [GOP] party. They certainly has hit rock bottom and desperate to keep a convicted felon’s money regardless if he was going to get a pardon or not. Keep the dough is their motto.

  26. Laszlo Panaflex says:

They just couldn’t be more tone deaf. We’re reeling in a depression triggered by mortgage shenanigans, with reports of rampant mortgage fraud, and they pardon this jerkwad, whose lone redeeming quality is his daddy gave lots of cash to the GOP. Staggering.

The only thing that could be more tone deaf is if the leader of the party cemented its reputation as a refuge of pasty white guys with no education by touting a CD of racist songs.

Honestly, is Kurt Vonnegut writing this week’s news?

  27. MapleStreet says:

I’m trying to figure out what you need to do to have a federal pardon.

Obviously, you have to do something so that someone influential champions your cause.

If you get out of jail and rival Mother Theresa in running a church in a poor neighborhood – No Pardon.

If you get out of jail and sit in your rich daddy’s mansion – you’ve got a chance at a pardon.

  28. Shayne says:

Too bad no federal prosecutor was eavesdropping on Bush so we could find out what he knew and when he knew it. Can you undo a crime if he granted the pardon knowing about the donation?

What is new?!!! I’m sure somewhere in the WH there is a photo of Bush with Chenney or one with Bush with Negroponte, or a phoro of Bush with Rice… all criminals, all liers, all trators, all posing for photos.

He’s passing the gelt with one hand while shaking with the other; it’s an old 3-card-monte trick all the old scammers know it…

  39. ElBruce says:

it’s unclear whether this picture was taken before or after that donation.

Wasn’t it just a month or two ago it was widely reported that you had to donate the maximum amount to get in Bush’s picture line? From the standardization of the pose, I think it’s pretty obvious it’s from that.

Also, who photoshopped Blago hair onto the dude? Post original pics only please, TP.

Get your picture taken with a talking Chimp, circa 2003 cost you $5,000, these days the Chimp will pay you $50.00 or give you some dumbass nickname for free, priceless.
