Female deans of Harvard and Stanford law under consideration for Solicitor General.

Bloomberg reports that the first female deans of the Harvard and Stanford law schools — Elena Kagan and Kathleen Sullivan — “are the top candidates to serve” as Barack Obama’s Solicitor General. No woman has ever served in that position on a permanent basis. Kagan “became a top candidate for solicitor general after being passed over for deputy attorney general, a slot set to go to Washington lawyer David Ogden.” The Solicitor General is charged with litigating on behalf of the government before the Supreme Court and determining whether lower court decisions should be appealed.

It’ll be refreshing to see an end brought to faith-based legal opinions.

Love a duck! I don’t know diddly about Ms Kagan, but from past appearances where I’ve seen Kathleen Sullivan, she’s got a superior legal mind that DC and the Supremes couldn’t deal with!

I like Kathleen Sullivan a lot and I was hoping to have her on the Supreme Court instead but she’s not a jurist and she is a lesbian, which is going to be an issue in the hearings for the right wingers. I have heard of Elena Kagan but I don’t know much about her.

That sounds awesomely entertaining. Let’s do it.

There are at most five minds on the Court. Thomas, Scalia, Roberts and Alita lack same.

Sorry that this is off topic, but I was/still in shock over reading this.

“A veteran who has been out of the military for 15 years and recently received his AARP card was stunned when he received notice he will be deployed to Iraq.”

This is how Ufck Up Bush has this country!!!!! We have to call up vets that have been out of the military for 15 years to support an ILLEGAL war!

    Hippie draft dodger! :P

Hey, that gives me an idea. Bush used to be in the Air National Guard. So I guess that means it’s not to late to stop/loss his chimpy ass…

This Kagan is not from the notorious Kagan’s, is she? If so YIKES!

  11. ElBruce says:

Elena Kagan at Wikipedia. Aside from teaching and university admin, she’s authored a book on the President’s role in administrative and regulatory law, written some 1st amendment stuff and is credited for “employing a consensus-building leadership style” at Harvard Law. Sounds like a great fit for Obama.

  12. cd says:

Sullivan failed the July 2005 California bar exam.

I’ve met some people that have passed it and you don’t have to be a rocket scientist.

So that’s a major NO on her.

    I don’t want a single idiot in Obama’s administration.

  13. Jackie says:

but she’s not a jurist and she is a lesbian,
Miss Sullivan is a lesbian but Alito is a closet gay. Roberts wont say anything after he was caught with his girlfriend while on vacation and had that heart problem.

Both woman know Constitutional Law which is more then we had for 8 years with Ashcrof and Gonzo. It’s would be nice to see qualified people put in position for a change.

  14. sectionop92 says:

Be careful with the lesbians, Kathleen Turner is one rank…oh, I was about to use a “Cheney” there!

  15. Styve says:

The name Kagan is a little concerning…could she possibly be related to the two Kagan scumbag Neocons that work for AEI and the Weekly Standard?! If not, she’s a great improvement over the cronie dirt that Bush appointed!!

  16. Domino says:

David Ogden . . . did he not play Major Winchester on MASH on TV?

That would have been David Ogden Stiers…….Obama’s cabinet seems to be filling up with solicitors so I guess a couple more won’t hurt.

She passed in 2006. Read her curriculum vitae, it’s impressive.

  19. cd says:

Bushie that was after she failed it in 05.

Um yes, the position in question is called “Solicitor General.” It’s not like Obama made that up or anything.

And having people in charge of executing the law who actually have some idea what the law is might be a good idea for a change, no?

  22. MapleStreet says:

Has she attended Regency University ?

How come Obama is hiring the incompetents without credentials ?
