George H. W. Bush: I’d like to see Jeb elected president.

This morning on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked former President George H.W. Bush about the possibility of his son, former Florida Governor Jeb Bush, running for Senate. The former president expressed his hope that Jeb would run and then told Wallace that he’d ultimately like to see Jeb elected president:

WALLACE: In terms of public service and ability to help the country, you’d like to see [Jeb] run [for Senate]?

H. W. BUSH: I’d like to see him run, I’d like to see him be president someday, or maybe senator, whatever.

In an apparent reference to the current President Bush’s unpopularity, H. W. Bush then joked, “I mean, right now is probably a bad time. We’ve had enough Bushs in there.” Watch it:

Update Bush also complimented Obama, saying, "I'm impressed with him. I'm very impressed with his style on the campaign and his coolness and his articulate nature. I think he can give a sentence and it will sound like it's been thought out by Shakespeare or something."
Update When asked about his son's failures, the elder Bush said, "You can go back to your, what do you call it, your Google, and you figure out all that."

Truer words have never been spoken.

    NO MORE BUSHES!!!

Pappy Bush, just go home to Maine and stay there — the losers you have sired have done enough damage.
Just keep quiet now – go away.

The Bush clan benefits from having their relations in power. Jeb landed a spot on the Tenet Health board of directors, making $37,000 a day for his board service.

The appointment came a year after brother George W. omitted any mention of Tenet’s Memorial Medical Center and the facilities 34 patient deaths post Hurricane Katrina.

Guess who purchased Neuberge Investment Management for 58% off with no money down? NIM’s management did. That includes Jeb Bush and cousin George Herbert Walker.

  4. Proud American Liberal says:

Your actions while in office pretty much guaranteed that will never happen.

No more Bush Crime Family….ever! Did I mince my words?

  7. Perry logan says:

Back when they thought no one would to get wise to their election rigging, the Repubs intended to put Jeb in as President immediately after George W. I think that was their original plan.

  8. gummitch says:

G H W Bush knows very well that the US has an aristocracy of New England WASPs that retain enormous power even while they pretend “class” doesn’t exist here. It seems perfectly normal to him that generations of Bushes will sit in the White House, regardless of competency. Hell, Europeans put up with idiot monarchs from time to time. Just hang on and hope he dies young and that the next one won’t be so bad.

  9. Briseadh na Faire says:

“We’ve had enough Bushs (sic) in there.”

May it be so, unto the fourth generation, at least.

  10. tom says:

Poppy Bu$h is pleased with GDumbya’s eight years in the (p)residency because his idiot son’s performance makes him look like George Washington by comparison — when, of course, Poppy was a loser just like his kid.

    H. W. BUSH: I’d like to see him run, I’d like to see him be president someday, or maybe senator, whatever.

As if two Bushes haven’t already totally screwed up the country, he wants a real Bush trifecta of incompetance and corruption.

No thanks. Now, do the country a favor and take that long-deserved slide into senility.

  12. Daddy-O says:

As far as the Bushes and the subject of stupidity are concerned, the apple doesn’t fall far from the tree.

The Old Spook is just making the Bush Legacy Propaganda rounds. 16 more days of this bullsh*t.

  13. CParis says:

What would anyone expect the Bush patriarch to say? His eldest son screwed up and has left the country in worse shape since the Depression? The Bush name will be up there with Hoover, Nero and the captain of the Titanic as examples of disastrous leadership.
It’s like being the parents of a serial killer, at least Jeffrey Dahmer’s brother was able to change his name.

  14. LibertyLover says:

Never again… not Jeb or Neil or Barbara or Jenna or Andrew or ANY of the cousins or nephews or grandchildren.

What have they given to this country? All this family has ever done is take from the people and give to their corporate friends. A backwards Robin Hood.

  15. delafield says:

Republicans would vote for Jeffrey Dahmer, Ted Bundy, and John Wayne Gacy if all three were on the GOP ticket. Come to think of it, it seems as though all three of those murderers actually were in the White House these past eight years.

    Huckabee/Palin…

  19. dixie blood says:

    tokin,

    What is Captain Bush?

  20. spencers mom says:

And this would be the same Jeb Bush who guaranteed the delivery of Florida’s electoral votes to Georgie in 2000? Would that be the Jeb Pappa’s referring to?

And then Ken Blackwell and Diebold’s CEO did the same thing in Ohio in 2004. Proving that no Bush has ever, or will ever, win a national election since Pappa.

    Enough! No more.

    PEACE

  21. tokin librul says:

    tokin,

    What is Captain Bush?

nope, though it was a one-syllable name…5 letters instead of 4

  33. tanglewood says:

Not in this lifetime, or the next, or the next or the next…..this family has done enough damage to last 10 life times. I never want to hear this name again. ” Honor able man” he says, this is a family that doesn’t know the meaning of the word honor. It is all about the Bush family and what is in it for them.

You don’t become multi, multi millionaires as they have done by “public service”…it is done by stealing in the name of public service.

  34. Green-Party says:

Too bad his brother has run the “Bush” brand right into the ground. W has away of turning gold into crap.

  35. Jackie says:

Daddy Bush is the last Bush who can face the American people. Jeb put Florida on the map with a fixed election and getting a million dollars from a closed bank plus crimes we will learn about. George W. brought down the United States of American, killed 1 million/displaced 5 million Iraq people while invading Iraq based on lies, let American lose over 4000 soldiers/injured thousands for Bush/Cheney greed of oil and land and more to come. The Bush Family name will be remember just not like Daddy Bush had hoped. Prescott Bush worked with Hitler to get his Family wealth and plotted to assassinate FDR but the next generation of Bush’s topped him. Daddy Bush often talked about wanting to be like the Kennedy’s well he went about it the wrong way and now George W. Bush tops Nixon as the worse President. We’ll see the Bush Family do what they have always done lie, booze it up and get high on drugs. That’s the Bush Family Legacy.

  36. curious says:

We need another Bush like we need another Clinton as President. I don’t want political dynasties in this country. We have already had a King George. Jeb Bush is not as stupid as Georgy, but he is from the same folks that brought you George.

He is from the same family that made their money through very questionable ways. Including doing business with Germany for eight months after they declared war on us. In fact some of the Bush profits were confiscated after the war because of their profiteering. This came through the Freedom of Information Act.

He also was part of the Florida fraud that allowed George to be elected. Katherine Harris and Jeb. The thought fills me with horror. To see him in any capacity of government. He is for sale. All Bush’s are. Remember his part in a failed savings and loan in the 80’s.

His father is right. Enough already. Let the memory of the Bush name and legacy remain in our collective consciousness. These people should never in the human history of our country be allowed high office again. NEVER!

  37. mauman says:

Brownnoser Chris Wallace, at the end of the interview and pointing to that stupid aircraft carrier tie, says: “Congratulations Mr. President on a life that has been lived so well.”

    Gag.

H.W. Bush had nothing to say about Saddam Hussein’s gassing of the Kurds in 1988. The irony? Bush, as Vice President in 1984, had presented a proposal at the Geneva Conference on Disarmament to ban the use, production, development, and possession of chemical weapons.

Also, the Reagan administration removed Iraq from the State Department list of terrorist states in 1982, leading to the famous Donald Rumsfeld handshake with Saddam in 1983 and subsequent diplomatic relations with Iraq in 1984. When did we put Iraq back on the terrorist list? In 1990, when Iraq invaded Kuwait.

A life lived so well, Mr. Wallace?

Not to mention Bush’s probable complicity in the 1980 October Surprise – encouraging Iran to continue holding the embassy hostages through the election in return for favors later on (tow missiles transferred to Iran via Israel).

A life lived so well, Mr. Wallace?

  38. mary says:

Yah, and I’d like to be Queen of the Universe, but, that doesn’t mean it’s gonna happen.

I think that over 45 years of corrupting this country while lining their pockets is quite enough for the Bush family. I forgot about the grandfather, so make that 65 years.

This country has already endured two too many Bush Presidencies — 12 years worth — which will take our country probably that many generations to recover from them.

  46. Jess Wonderin says:

Please wander off and become a lost memory . . . your failed Presidency has been eclipsed by your tainted spawn and America doesn’t need or desire ANOTHER Bush attack on America. Didn’t the Bush Family reap enough gold from this BUSH to sustain the Bush Fortune? Our Government and Treasury will take DECADES to recover . . . GO AWAY and LEAVE us ALONE!!!!!!

  47. AmandaBlow says:

And I’d like to see you and your entire family shot by a firing squad! Every head to explode like a watermellon. Get the hell out of this country you money fixated devil worshipper traitor freak! BUSH=FAILURE

Remember, one of the first things W. did was reclassify information about Pappy’s presidency that was due to be released. I’d like to see that information made very public.

You’ve got to be kidding! HW and his spawn have already done enough damage. Only the absurdly idiotic would vote for another Shrub.
But then there are the Republican base who think the Shrubs are the bestess ever.

  56. MapleStreet says:

go back to your, what do you call it, your Google,…..

HAH!!!!! Sorry, I can’t come up with something snarky enough to be fitting.

  57. MapleStreet says:

Well lets see. Bush SR didn’t get re-elected (something about “Its the economy stupid!”) He endorsed Georgie Jr.

Yep – I’ll listen to his recommendation for sure.

  58. motorfingaz says:

Bush also complimented Obama, saying, “I’m impressed with him. I’m very impressed with his style on the campaign and his coolness and his articulate nature.

    Clueless ignorant white trash.

I don’t wish harm on anyone, but I would dearly love to see the entire Bush clan simply disappear from the Earth.

  63. sacopenapa says:

Me neither! But when it comes to Bushes… I do whish they get cancer and suffer slowly! Very slowly! Even the thought of the possibility of that repitile, Laura, to get one little cancer brings a smile to my face!
For the sake of suffering and death this animals brought to the Earth, I hope they drop dead with a shoe on their ugly faces!

  64. MapleStreet says:

    OhPlease –

Somewhere else in TP, someone suggested they have a dream of as Obama says, “I do”, some helicopters with International Forces will appear and wish Shrub et al to the Hague.

  65. Cal Malenky says:

Not in your lifetime, old man.

  66. AlexLawyer says:

The Bushes are a good argument for the revival of eugenics. The clan (klan?) is riddled with antisocial and narcissistic personality disorders, alcoholism, drug addiction, criminality, abysmal judgment and pathological lying.

  67. chingebush says:

I would love to see Jeb run. Down a 30 foot plank over the deep blue ocean. Blinfolded. In a three legged race and the other pasty white leg in the bag is his brother’s Georgie.

Fck the Bushs, one and all.

  68. Bostonian Queer in Dallas says:

Well I for one would LOVE to see Jebby run. If only for the outing of George Prescott Bush, Jeb’s son. Apparently, although married, GP is a big ole bottom in FtLaud gay circles. Seen often at bars and with boyfriends. Not to mention the drug addict sister. It would be just too delish.

What if basically all racial-minority people would subscribe to the interpretations that George Herbert Walker Bush committed monstrous, racist, hate crimes while he was the President of the United States?
