Wallace uses right-wing buzzwords to fearmonger on EFCA, says it ‘eliminates the right to a secret ballot.’

Today on Fox News Sunday, host Chris Wallace asked House Majority Leader Steny Hoyer (D-MD) about the Employee Free Choice Act. Instead of calling the bill by its name, Wallace used a string of right-wing buzzwords to describe it, calling it a favorite of “Big Labor” and falsely insisting its aim was to “eliminate the right to a secret ballot”:

WALLACE: Big Labor’s top priority is what’s called union card check, and that would be eliminating the right to a secret ballot in determining whether or not you’re gonna organize, unionize, as a working place. … Is there a compromise out there, or are you prepared to take away the secret ballot?

Watch it:

When Hoyer called Wallace out for employing the conservative tropes, Wallace shot back, “Both sides have their euphemisms.” Hoyer replied, “And you use one side!”

I wouldn’t buy a used car from Little Chrissy Wallace. The scumbag’s got about as much credibility as a snake-oil salesman. The only difference between him and GDumbya is that his father was competent, intelligent and outstanding in his career. On the other hand, of course, GDumbya was sired by someone who was a skid-mark on history just like himself.

So “euphemism” is the new word for lying?

  3. gummitch says:

I love how the Republicans are sticking up for Labor! Over and over again, just repeat “take away the secret ballot”, as if the Party gave even the tiniest little mouse fart about the rights of working people.

  4. barfly says:

Chris admits he’s using right-wing euphemism.

There goes that much-touted Fox News “balance.”

Does he realize he’s just admitted he’s a right-wing shill?

  5. Green-Party says:

His father must be so embarrassed, Wallace is such a blowhard. All I can say is that as a union member myself, I get treated better and paid more than I did working non-union. More Americans should have this option, its about time that we fight back against corporate union bashing.

Unions made a strong middle class possible in this country and we have Reagan to thank for starting the destruction of it.

Steny, great job – calling out Chris for what he is: a flipping puppet for the gop.

Since TP continues to ignore the Israel-Gaza disaster, here’s this morning’s news:

The United States has blocked approval of a U.N. Security Council statement calling for an immediate cease-fire between Israel and Gaza’s Hamas rulers, diplomats said.

French U.N. Ambassador Jean-Maurice Ripert, the council president, said the 15 council members could not agree on a statement in closed discussions held after Israel launched a ground invasion into the Gaza Strip on Saturday. But he said there were ‘’strong convergences” among the members to express concern about the deteriorating situation in Gaza and the need for ”an immediate, permanent and fully respected cease-fire.”

Libyan Ambassador Giadalla Ettalhi said the United States during the discussions late Saturday objected to ”any outcome” on the proposed statement. He said efforts were made to compromise on a weaker press statement but there was no consensus.

Several other council members, speaking on condition of anonymity because negotiations were closed, also said the U.S. was responsible for the council’s failure to issue a statement.

More than 480 Palestinians have been killed and nearly 3,000 injured in Gaza, and four people have been killed in Israel.

chris wallace is living proof that talent does not carry through in some families. his father has talent, he does not.

what an embarrassment he is. i wonder how much crap his father takes form the serious newspeople he works with.

does he call himself a journalist or does he call himself a “conservative commentator”? you cannot be both.

  9. curious says:

Chris Wallace is what he is. The thing speaks for itself. He could not get a job as a real journalist. Fox is as high as he will ever be able to go. Or as low. He knows this.

What would you expect? He works for Fox.

    Good point, impeachcheney….
….and another thing; I don’t remember any reports of Hamas sending missiles into Israel until after Israel started yet another land grabbing war….maybe I missed something, but I don’t think so, Israel is just getting their dirty work done while their fellow criminal is still in office.
    God damn Israel and Bush.

One more step in America’s slide into a Banana Republic. The U.S. Chamber races toward the lowest global common denominator on worker pay & benefits.

What’s another $1 trillion, given the $8.5 trillion in federal interventions to date?

That doesn’t include Bush’s latest corporafornication, insuring airlines with his December 23rd executive order. How many media sources picked that up? None.

  12. stateofthedivision says:

To make the a-nalogy more clear, Banana Republics have a complicit media and abuse workers.

On October 3, 2001, I.A.P. News reported that according to Israel Radio (in Hebrew) Kol Yisrael an acrimonious argument erupted during the Israeli cabinet weekly session last week between Israeli Prime Minister Ariel Sharon and his foreign Minister Shimon Peres. Peres warned Sharon that refusing to heed incessant American requests for a cease-fire with the Palestinians would endanger Israeli interests and “turn the US against us. “Sharon reportedly yelled at Peres, saying, “Every time we do something you tell me America will do this and will do that . . . I want to tell you something very clear: Don’t worry about American pressure on Israel. We, the Jewish people, control America, and the Americans know it.”

Can one expect anything else from the “Magic Negro” network?

And well said Curious in #9 above, C Wallace should not be misidentified as a journalist; just another Murdoch-appointed wannabe for sure.

  16. Zooey says:

Unfortunately, no matter what Steny Hoyer was saying, Fox viewers (aka stupid sheep) will glom onto whatever Wallace is repeating over and over. If he says it enough times, it must be twue!!!

Mike Wallace must be wanting that DNA test by now…

  17. IBTunion4obama says:

Fox and Wallace are propagandists. EFCA doesn’t eliminate secret ballots. I mean, if the Republicans try to filibuster this bill again and succeed, say goodbye to the middle class and worker rights.

There’s a really great site called American Rights at Work that exposes ALL the right wing ,anti-union groups-especially the front group that are actually anti-union but portray themselves as otherwise. There’s a site called Anti-Union network, too, that has some incredible info on how many $$$ millions that corporate America(and the US Chamber of Commerce) is paying PR firms to produce negative spin about the EFCA. Unbelievable how scared the GOP and corporations are!

  22. christopher wiwi says:

With people like Chris Wallace speaking for the Reich we need the EFCA more than ever…..the GOOPERS are running scared
