Which means they’ll probably seat Coleman, in violation of the Constitution, and then give him a major committee chairmanship. And then issue a public apology for causing any trouble, if that’s OK.

Two comments: First of all, I don’t believe it takes a “super majority” to seat a Senator, thus the Republicans threat to filibuster is an empty one. HOWEVER, our wonderful Senate Majority Leader, Sen. Reid, is making noises about “accommadating” Coleman until the litigation efforts are resolved, and that would include his voting rights! On the other hand, he wants to block Burris from being seated. What is wrong with this picture?

Maybe Dems should threaten to nuke the whole Senate and filibuster the seating of any/all Republicans. Find two or three pushover R’s who will vote with the plan in order to keep their own seats. Shouldn’t be hard to find a couple of traitors amidst that bunch. Then we’ll have a Democratic majority in the Senate of 58-2, which is proportionally about right.
