Be careful with that logic. Both sides play the same game, and I’ll grant its an annoying and intentionally misleading one. I was being coy with the Obama link. I don’t actually think he wants to rule, but since the idea was brought up in reference to the Republicans, I thought it would be a nice addition. I was going for a pot-kettle relationship.

There are some Dems who are guilty of this as well (e.g. Blago), but not so systematically, as an organizing principle of the party. That would be your opinion. If you only follow the virtues of your own party (via liberal leaning websites), and the vices of the other (via the same), you are going to see more examples that reinforce your belief system.

Hell, that is one major reason I read sites like thinkprogress.org and the Huffington Post. I want to see what Republican Congressmen are doing that warrants catches attention, positive or negative.

The only reason Congress’ approval ratings are low is that there are still enough Republicans in it to prevent them from being particularly useful to the American public.

I would not worry about magical numbers of (scary Republican) senators or representatives and instead look towards (Democrat) party leadership. If you want to get a higher approval rating for the next Congress, please, for the love of all that is holy, find leadership that will be effective.

It’s like the Obama/Wurzelbacher video; Obama gave a long, substantive, and rather convincing explanation to a random voter question, but all you people did was keep listening to yadda-yadda until you heard the words “spread the wealth” and then ran around like you’d scored a victory. This is probably the reason why Dems are so often “pushovers” for Republican slash-and-burn tactics. Dems aren’t willing to destroy the institutions they wish to lead in order to claw their way to the top. Republicans are only too happy to.

The economic statistics are telling. The low poll numbers there drag down peoples feelings about the political system in general, and the president in particular.

The “no work” Democratic Congress is the blame for most of our transgressions/failures.

I know you hate it when we point out facts to you, RR, but it was the Republicans who worked only three days a week, and cried like babies when the Democrats said they would work five days a week in the 110th COngress.

Also, do you think the Congress should be run the way the Republicans did it? You do know that the Republicans cheated the American people every chance they could of having proper representation in Congress? When bills were sent to conference (to negotiate the final version of the bill), the Republicans often stripped out everything the Democrats managed to get in, even when it had overwhelming bi-partisan support.
