Bush already packing up to leave the White House.

President Bush has repeatedly said that he plans to “sprint to the finish,” remaining active and engaged until the very last day of his presidency. However, it appears that he may be beginning to check out early. In yesterday’s press briefing, White House Press Secretary Dana Perino said that the President has already started packing his bags:

Q: Dana, how will it work around here — I mean, two weeks out — how did it work around here? When do boxes start coming out? When do you start putting things away? When do the — when does the First Family pack up and the moving vans come in? How does all that work?

PERINO: Well, you know how — the President’s style is always to be one that’s a little bit prepared early, and he and Mrs. Bush have been working to box things up. They didn’t come with a lot of things; they didn’t bring a lot of furniture here. So mostly what they have are books, obviously their clothes, and then some of the things that they’ve picked up along the way on their travels as they’ve traveled.

Or even better, Nov 5th, 2004.

Oh come on, TP -- this is really reaching. If I knew I had to be out of my living quarters in two weeks after having settled there for eight years, I'd be packing stuff instead of waiting until the last minute, too -- keeping out the stuff I needed to operate for those two weeks, of course. I doubt any outgoing president or his family went right up to the morning of January 20 without so much as boxing up a treasured personal knick-knack or two.

If your point is that Bush is exhibiting short-timer's attitude -- he's been doing that ever since the "thumpin" he and the GOP got in November 2006.

Hmm, those books should fit in one very small box. Or an envelope.

TP could post an item that says "sun rises in the East," and we'd still fill the page with arguing about it and screaming about how the Republican party is clearly responsible for such villainy.

Items like this are like when you pretend to throw a stick for a dog to fetch and the dog tries to go fetch it anyways. It's just a chance to give us the opportunity to run around and bark at stuff.

George had to get an early start. I here his comic book collection is HUGE! Plus he's gotta make sure he packs up all of his copies of the CIA terrurist torture tapes, his rare collection of various cod pieces, his secret stash of Condi boudouir shots and his Presnidential Masterset of Crayola crayons. He needs to clear his schedule so he'll have time to leave a dump in each of the White House's 35 toilets.

  21. Fred Says:

Gee, lets see if the Bubble remembers that Saddam Hussein's HANDGUN mounted on the wall in his office belongs to the PEOPLE OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA, or . .

Or possibly legally, the gun belongs to the GOVERNMENT OF IRAQI . .

Bush does not have a right to that gun. I mean it's not like he fought Saddam in hand to hand combat for the gun and then had it mounted on the wall to display his 'heroism'!!

Usually when people start talking about moving, their friends seem to disappear of come up with excuse, i.e., bad back, hip problems as to why they can't help.

In this case, I would venture to wage money (and I'm NOT a gambler) that if bush needs help moving from the WH, there will be a few million ready, willing and able to help.

lol You don't say? So, all of the liquor bottles and blow are gone? I guess all he has to leave with is his blankie and My Pet Goat book.

Oh, and Dick Cheney most likely packed up long time ago. He moved all of his assets overseas.

  56. sectionop92 Says:

Man, I don't think the Bush's are getting their cleaning deposit back.

Dr. Hussein Matt Says: Well, you know how — the President’s style is always to be one that’s a little bit prepared early, a....

Yeah, but we've been prepared for him to leave for almost 8 years!

  61. dreadpiraterobert Says:

I've also picked up a lot of things along the way on my travels as I’ve traveled. While traveling. As a traveler.

Man, that Perino woman really has a way with words.

  62. pax Says:

The box for books must be really small!

  63. krystalviews Says:

There's a wind tunnel between Perino's ears. Nothing else !

  64. DallasNE Says:

So most of the boxes will be filled with gifts from foreign leaders. As I recall, they trashed Clinton and demanded that those things belonged to the country rather than the sitting President. I guess 8 years is enough to change one's mind.

  65. daveincolorado Says:

I sure hope someone is checking that box for missing silverware and china. What about all the 'O' keys from the comupters?

  66. binski62 Says:

WOW, you people are a riot. A bunch of ill informed so far leftists that you cannot see what is in front of your faces. President Bush came into office and bam..there goes the towers..not because of Bush..because of terrorists. Bush has made the safety of this country and it's citizens his main priority. All any of the nay sayers can do is talk crap. Just wait..your Messiah..will walk you into the valley of the shadow and will not have any salvation for you. Whatever, you brought it on yourselves. Lay off Bush..he wasn't the President who was so busy with his mistress in the Oval Office that he ignored the threats against the USA building up all over the world. By the way...the new CIA pick..just one more way of throwing us to the wolves. You all talked about Sarah Palin not having experience, etc..well, that is now the pot calling the kettle black.

  67. dbearton Says:

Out of the White House and into prison, where he belongs, as for binski62, a typical RepubliCon stooge.

  68. hauksdottir Says:

Let's see... the stuff picked up along his travels? Well, Saddam's gun is a war trophy (violation of Geneva Conventions, as is keeping the noose that Saddam was hanged with). The painting of the pursued horse thief on his wall isn't his, either (like Uncle Teddy Toobz, people just loan him stuff). That copy of My Pet Goat belonged to the school (perhaps the Smithsonian wants it).

Professional movers can deal with the clothes and an aide can take care of collecting the doggy toys and pooperscoopers.

So... what ARE they packing, really?

Bush had Al-Zawahiri's head shipped to him on dry ice. "So we have the CIA agent who was the spearhead into Afghanistan saying on camera it was a direct order and a Pulitzer Prize winning journalist hearing it directly from a person who should have every reason to have the job."

I suggest that Cheney's man-sized safe be investigated also, before it gets lifted onto an airplane's hold.

  69. suejester Says:

That is an interesting statement from Perino, "PERINO: Well, you know how — the President’s style is always to be one that’s a little bit prepared early, and he and Mrs. Bush have been working to box things up."

GWB like to be little bit prepared early??? Hmmm he seemed way behind with Hurricane Katrina, War in Afganistan, War in Iraq, Attack of 911, financial crisis, etc...

The only thing he prepares early for is making his friends rich and planning vacation.

  70. Baculus Says:

Binski62 - another Republican who wants to blame everything on anyone BUT the President.

How sad is that? The worst part is that he accuses others of being "ill informed" when it's painfully obvious to us that ARE informed who really is the ill-informed person.

Yes, it is all Clinton's fault because he was fooling around with Monica. Give me a break.

Isn't it weird, too, how all these right-wingers call Obama the "Messiah?" It's as if they are all Stepford wives and someone switched on the "hate" switch; they all sound the same and utter the same ridiculous statements.

Lay off Bush? Have you been asleep for the last eight years? Good God, man - here you are, already piling on the poop onto Obama even before he has become President, and then you tell us to lay off the President that has been in charge during warfare, natural disasters, and economic crisis?

Is Bush YOUR messiah, because you sound like a wild-eyed devotee that cannot see any wrong in his "master."

There is a logical reason for his CIA pick - it's to avoid the infighting that's been taking place between the White House and the CIA. See, if you were not so incapable of following current events, you would know that the CIA does not get along well with the Bush administration. Even from the onset of the War on Terror, Cheney created a White House intelligence office to further support the invasion of Iraq because the White House didn't like the CIA intelligence and conclusions.

There are some who believe that the Leon Panetta is a brilliant choice, because it will secure, at the top of the CIA, an "Obama" man. Panetta is good at organization and policy, and there are plenty of men and women in the CIA who will take care of the intelligence side of things. Plus, the CIA director is supposed to execute policy and report back to the President their findings.

Did you know any of this? Of course not, because your limited conservative and Republican news doesn't cover real actual indepth events and stories. All it does is talk snidely talk about Democrats and the Left, devoid of any actually useful information.

That is why you sound so empty headed, because you have not been actually researching REAL news.

And that is why it's ironic that you call others ill-informed.
