White House Asked Howard To Stay In Blair House To Give ‘Some Plausible Reason’ For Refusing Obama

In December, President-elect Obama asked the White House if he and his family could move into Blair House — the White House’s guest house — a week early, so that his daughters Malia and Sasha could start school. The White House rebuffed them, saying the house was already booked for another guest. A White House source added that “Blair House was appalled” by the request.

After weeks of speculation, the mystery guest that trumps the President-elect and his family has finally been revealed. The White House offered the house to John Howard, the former Prime Minister of Australia who is set to receive a Medal of Freedom. Instead of arranging other accommodations for Howard’s one-night stay, the Bush administration told the Obama family to stay in a hotel for two weeks. (Former British Prime Minister Tony Blair and Colombian President Álvaro Uribe, who are also receiving the Medal of Freedom, opted to find other accommodations.)

Last night on MSNBC’s “Countdown,” Bloomberg journalist Margaret Carlson revealed that when the White House turned down Obama’s request in early December, it had not yet even invited Howard to stay at the Blair House:

I reported…on December 11 and 12 that there were no foreign dignitaries booked into Blair House during that period of time. … I have the feeling they asked him [Howard] to come and stay so that there might be some plausible reason for not letting the Obamas stay there.

She also pointed out that Blair House has “119 rooms with 35 bathrooms. Howard wouldn’t even have to share a sink with the Obamas.” Watch it:

That the White House choose to prioritize the former prime minister of Australia over the incoming President of the United States emphasizes Bush’s sense of loyalty. Howard, a darling of the right wing, was one of Bush’s biggest cheerleaders whom Bush has called his “mate of steel” for standing with him on Iraq and being the only leader of an industrialized nation — besides Bush, of course — to refuse to sign the Kyoto Protocol.

Still, supplanting the incoming President with Howard seems like a final, petty kick in the teeth from Bush.

Oh compassionate conservatism, where have you gone? Well, apparently out the window starting 1/20/2000.

But, what can you expect from a party that LIED and told us that the White House was left in shambles after Clinton, with “w” removed from keyboards, and pornography everywhere.
Hey, just curious, how much did Bill Clinton have to pay for repair damages to the White House? I’ll give you a hint, it’s less than $0.01!

I should not be surprised, but I am.

So Obama moving into Blair a week early was an “appalling” request? It would seem presumptuous?
Isn’t Obama being criticized for not stepping on Bush’s toes before he takes office – but a request to make life a little easier for the family is outrageous?

    These people make me sick.

  8. misshusseinmolly says:

If I had to share Blair House with John Howard — even if I didn’t have to share a sink with him — I’d probably opt for a hotel, too.

But the whole situation is incredibly petty and “Dog in the Manger”-ish. Kudos to Blair and Uribe for not getting involved.

I won’t even get into the whole scene of John Howard getting a Medal of Freedom from Dubya — I’ll leave that low-hanging fruit for somebody else.

  9. ElBruce says:

“Mate of steel?!?” I’m not even going to touch that one.

Maybe Obama should appoint someone to run the place who can handle booking multiple events and guests up to capacity. Imagine if a hotel manager said that: “I’m sorry, we don’t have any vacancies, one of our rooms is booked.” Rudeness aside, this is government waste and inefficiency at its finest.

  33. DavidHart says:

This is all nonsense. Some self-important, flatulent functionary at Blair – who thinks that he or she is a cross between the curator of the Smithsonian and the GM of Plaza Athene – was probably indignant because the request strayed from tradition.

The Bush functionaries have a culture of deceit. They do what they have done for eight years – lied their way out of a problem. In this case they created the facts to match the lie. This is the prevailing Bush culture; They cannot help themselves.

I’m not getting 500%, or even 99% behind such a causal connection, but the fact remains that Howard had not been invited at the time that Obama had been refused based on a claim of prior bookings. There are no other bookings that anyone else knows of.

Unless Bush is storing extraordinary rendition detainees there, I have no other explanation.

They all know it only as something they once attended.
The Obama’s have so much more in graciousness and class than this group of sickos could ever imagine. Nonetheless, I would love to see the Obama’s leave the Bushes to leave the Capitol alone, unaccompanied to their final helicopter ride to Andrews. That won’t happen, but along side wishing that Bush would be arrested and lead away in handcuffs for treason as he leaves the Capitol as private citizen Bush, I wish it would happen.

A President represents all Americans and shows American Values set by all. Now Bush’s conduct is a reflection of how petty and untrust worthy our Govenment is right now. 8 years of President Bush is the lesson children will learn as the adults did nothing. Howard lost his election because the people of his country show a puppet. The Media slid over this as if there was no problem. Manners and respect are taught by parents to a child, this is a refection of how poorly Mr. and Mrs. Bush did their job. All those so call Americans with Christian Values and Bush’s base are now seen for their example too. We’ll see if the new President who was raised by a single parent has learned the lessons of manners, respect and honesty as that will be a big change for America and Americans.

Here’s the uber-dickiness of it. From what I’ve read, Blair House is routinely – ROUTINELY – used to house Presidents-elect before Inauguration Day. Even if Bubble Boy didn’t know this himself, I’m sure at least ONE White House staffer would’ve tipped off that it’s expected to keep the joint open for Obama. There’s no way that the Administration was clueless that this is an unofficial courtesy each outgoing President extends to the incumbent. Quite frankly, Obama shouldn’t have had to ask Blair House for the use of the joint; it should have been extended to him by the President himself.

You know, JUST IN CASE you wanted to reaffirm your belief that Bush is a tremendous dick.

Yes, but the routine only covers Jan. 15th through the 20th. Obama asked if he could get in early, Jan. 5th. What it just amounts to is that Bush had the opportunity to do something gracious and nice, and he declined to. Even though there’s no good reason not to.

A bigger man would certainly act better, but people with little control of their emotions don’t always do what is right. 76. ceejae says:

A couple of things here – 1st it was stated that NO President is allowed to move into Blair House earlier – that is incorrect. George H Bush moved in on December 27, Bill Clinton moved in Jan 1, George W. Bush moved in on December 15. Bush put the Obama family at risk by not allowing them to move in 2 weeks early and per Laura Bush – the Blair house is committed until January 14, 2009 -what she didn’t say but the staff from Blair house did is that it is committed to George W. Bush’s frat boy friends for a going away kegger party. A member of the Blair House staff also stated that they were appalled not because he asked to move in early but because they did not want a Black Man and his family staying there as they felt it was very disrespectful to the Blair House and they did not want the Obama family there at all but they know they don’t have a choice from January 15 -20, 2009.

  77. rightsidecj says:

Bush put the Obama family at risk by not allowing them to move in 2 weeks early

    what risk?

  78. mhett says:

I suspect the real reason the Obamas can’t stay there is because, as the National Enquirer has been reporting for more than a year, the First Lady has been living there away from her husband for quite some time. She will be the one living in the new Dallas house post-presidency, while Dumbya will be in Crawford. The real question then will be, how much of this story will be told in Laura’s multi-million $$$ memoirs?

  79. ceejae says:

I made the comment that Bush put the Obama family at risk by not allowing the Obama family to move in early and you stated “what risk” The risk being as a Hotel is a very public place with guests coming and going on a regular basis and the Secret Service were required to bring in many more SS agents to insure that the Obamas were protected because SS members had to be place strategically throughout the hotel 24 hours per day doublng the expenses. Plus when the Obama’s were coming and going – Security had to be placed strategically around them to escort them safely in and out of the hotel. None of the would have been necessary if they had been allowed to stay at Blair house as the only one’s staying there would have been the Obama’s. However BUSH made the conscious choice to make the Blair House unavailable out of spite. You tell me how his beer drinking buddies are more important and moree deserving of the Blair house than the Obamas, the next first family of the United States.

  80. irishindc says:

it not only shows the pathetic, insecure, childish, ignorance and poor quality of the Bush presidency (and only highlights further why everyone is so thrilled that their destructive reign is over) but it also speaks to the lack of manners or decency of Howard and anyone else who blocked the way for the Obama’s to move into Blair House. Anyone with an ounce of goodness in them would have offered to go stay at another location given the whole reason they wanted to come early was to help their kids settle into school (No child left behind another failure of the Bush presidency – and here we are told always think of the Children!!!). Anyone with half a brain knew the inauguration date a year ago so it should be automatic that Blair House is reserved for the future president being signed into office the year of an inauguration. Then again, are we really surprised – its just signs off the Bush administration to a TEE – sore losers!!! Best of Luck to Obama – anything he manages to do will be an improvement on the last 8 years of disaster.

  81. rightsidecj says:

    Best of Luck to Obama

With all the monies he has probably illegally attained, he can afford to stay at a hotel. To me, he is just another minority family of 4 moving into public housing. Way to go G.W.!!! Love Ya!

    Hmmmmmm

If their was an unbooked room at the time the request was made, how is that being treated special?

People book motel and hotel rooms in advance quite often.

Awwww Well, Why don’t we all just get alone?

Guess its too difficult for some. Ya Think?

  86. Spooning_leads24kin says:

The anointed one has not shared any information on anything from his college transcripts to his C.O.L.B. so why should one believe he would share the Blair house with a former Prime Minister of Australia? Even IF there is an available room.

Barrack the empty drum, came early to DC

President Elect means pretender, you haven’t got the place
Releasing harsh words about our President came back in your face
When you’ve won the prize be humble, even if you’re half smart
Otherwise don’t be surprised if you’re treated like a fart

  88. ceejae says:

“you people are all idiots.the pres-elect doesnt go into the blair house until 5 days before taking office”

That is a bald face lie – George H Bush moved in on December 27, Bill Clinton moved in Jan 1, George W. Bush moved in on December 15 – Bush Jr refused to make it available to the Obama’s out of spite. Brown only spent 1 night there – now Bush’s beer drinking buddies are using it for free to have an extended going away kegger for Bush, Jr. per the staff at Blair house. The Obama bashers on this site are sick puppies and to the person who said that the only good democrat was a dead democrat – make sure to answer your door when the FBI comes knocking. They provide a site for turning in people like you and it was very easy to get your IP address and location and send it to them along with your post. Maybe your pal Bush will bail you out.

  89. AlexLawyer says:

So Blair House has become the kennel for Bush’s poodles when they come to get their de luxe dogtags. Good thing the voters have already neutered them.

What ever happened to freedom of speech?? Just because someone feels that the only good democrat is a dead democrat doesn’t mean he/she violated any crime! Ceejae needs to take some chill pills or smoke a big medicinal fatty. As for all the libs blaming Bush for the economy, take a look back to the Clinton days where it was HIS administration that urged the sub-prime loans in the first place and you will know the truth about what really happened to the economy. Those who want to gripe about the war, don’t forget how unanimous the vote to go into Iraq was on both sides of the fence. OH, wait, you are the same stupid people that believe 9/11 was an inside job! Well, just to let you know, I am already laughing at the circus the Dems are already going through with Blago, Burris, and Bill Richardson, and I can’t wait until the birth certificate truth comes to light. When that happens, everything Obama has signed or passed will become illegal and void and he will be evicted from the public paid housing on Capitol Hill. So, just keep on bashing Bush and aborting your children you bunch of blind drugged up hippies. I guess I will get me another blanket to keep warm since the big panic about global warming seems to have been totally false with all the snow and temperatures that have been falling this winter!

  92. Baculus says:

Some of the right-wingers replying on this forum are idiotic hypocrites.

It’s amusing to hear one of them, in his post, demand respect for the office of the Presidency, while his cronies insult future President Obama in every way imaginable.

When Spooning_leads24kin says, “Why should Barack be treated like royalty?” he demonstrates the clueless nature of some on the Right. As someone else noted, the last several President-elects have occupied the Blair house weeks before the inauguration ceremony. Obama didn’t ask for anything out of the ordinary, but apparently embittered Republicans and a bitter Bush Presidency cannot afford the same hospitality which W. himself received.

The Right aren’t known for their politeness, so this shouldn’t be any surprised: Their sheer hatred for Obama is intensely obvious. It’s the time of burning hatred that is sure to cause mental issues in some of these folks; I really do think some right-wingers have become mentality unstable due to the election results.

Spooning_leads24kin further show his/her/its racist nature with this remark: “…he is just another minority family of 4 moving into public housing.” Gee, conservatives and Republicans have such respect for the Presidency, don’t they?

    Hypocrisy all around.

Rightsidecj had the gal to add, “Though another 9-11 is probably not going to happen noe that Bin Laden and his Al-Qaeda cronies have a friend in the White House.”

Apparently, Rightsidecj doesn’t even follow current events, since Al-Qaida is blaming Obama for the events in Gaza, and accuses the President-Elect of being a Zionist tool. They are certainly no fan of the incoming President, but apparently that does not matter to these witless right-wing wonders.

    Get a clue, Rightsidecj.

The rest of the absurd right-wing rants aren’t even worthy of note. They are the same stupendously moronic posts that I see on conservative blogs, with their constant and obsessed talk of “Obamania,” “Obamamessiah,” and their derision of anything to the Left of their reactionary positions.

Obama may be the most hated figure in the world of conservatives and reactionaries, and if anyone’s obsessed with him, it’s the Right. I just hope one of them doesn’t find himself/herself looking down the barrel of the rifle at Obama, but the Right would surely celebrate Obama’s assassination.

The Secret Service better be well prepared – the nut jobs are on the lose.

  93. Spooning_leads24kin says:

Hypocrisy must be all around, all I hear Dems screaming is that Bush and Cheney should be arrested and put in jail. And you call yourselves respectful of the Presidency? A legal president may have to do some things that some people don’t agree with to protect the civilians of his country and keep them free. Dems have waited eight years for this, and they make it known and rub it in. Jimmy Carter did a horrible job, yet I never said anything near what I’ve heard about G.W.. Clinton was a dishonest (”I never had sexual relations with that woman”) man as well, yet he could do no wrong by the left. I pray for those of you who cheat on your wife and think it’s ok when she takes half or more of everything you have worked so hard for in your life.

  94. Baculus says:

Give me a break, Spooning_leads24kin – your hateful and racist rants just proves what most of us suspect. Which is, many of Obama’s opponents are cretins such as yourself.

You sound like a light version of Ann Coulter, who, I am sure, is one of your heroes.

And it is HILARIOUS for a right-winger to suggest for someone else to smoke “a medicinal fatty.” Yeah, and I sure someone such as yourself would report someone to the authorities for such an action.

The War on Drugs is still kicking, and we have stooges such as yourself to thank for it.

Freedom of speech is alive and well, thank God, and no help to any “conservatives” such as yourself. It was Bush himself who said that there should be “limits on freedom” when some websites were criticizing him a few years ago. If it was up to folks such as yourself, those Democrats that you despise would have no ability to speak their mind. Why do you think the Right is always attacking the press?

Authoritarians always attack the free press, along with college professors and science – it is the pattern that we have seen in the past, again and again, and we see it in modern America.

Your hypocrisy gets worse and worse.

And, surprise, surprise, another Bush supporter blaming HIS ADMINISTRATION’S issues on Clinton. The 9-11 attacks? CLINTON’S FAULT! The recent economic downturn due to bad policy? CLINTON’S FAULT!

Get a clue – it was Republicans such as Texan Phil Gramm that pushed for deregulation. But I wouldn’t expect someone such as yourself to actually research this issue – that would get in the way of your hate-bashing, two-minutes-of-hate ranting.

The Bush administration was warned several years ago of impending issues, and they did nothing to resolve any problems.

Yeah, it is all Clinton’s fault.

You further showed your apparent n00bness when it comes to politics: Republicans have been involved in scandals for decades. Circuses such as the Iran-Contra scandal, the S&L Scandals, Enron, one sex scandal after another…Yeah, the Republicans sure are the party of honesty, aren’t they?

Tell that to Dick Cheney, as his no-bid Halliburton rips off the US public for millions in Iraq.

I have been crying and laughing for DECADES as I watched the Republicans corrupt their way into power.

What’s odd, Spooning_leads24kin, is that you mention 9-11 conspiracies, then you bring up Obama’s birth certificate. You accuse others of being conspiracy nuts as you purvey your own right-wing conspiracy theory.

Also, this statement shows your continuing clueless nature: “I guess I will get me another blanket to keep warm since the big panic about global warming seems to have been totally false with all the snow and temperatures that have been falling this winter!”

Let me guess: You’ve actually never read anything about this subject, have you? Two issues:

    1. Weather patterns are affect by global warming. The summers get hotter and the winters get colder, which is why we have had recorded summer and winter records, highs and lows, over the last decade.

    2. Global warming leads to global cooling.

Not surprising that an anti-science person such as yourself doesn’t know anything about this issue.

The anti-science nature of the Right will be the death of us all.

  95. valvepop says:

Send Obama back to Kenya where he was born, maybe he can stay a couple weeks with his brother in the cardboard box hotel.

  96. Baculus says:

“Hypocrisy must be all around, all I hear Dems screaming is that Bush and Cheney should be arrested and put in jail.”

I think that is a bit hyperbolic.

There are a lot of angry folks (not just Democrats – go to an Alex Jones website if you don’t believe me), and when a President is perceived as being manipulative, especially with pre-war efforts, then there will be some angry Americans.

“And you call yourselves respectful of the Presidency?”

Yeah, we saw the respect that the Right had for Clinton, and now we see this same “respect” for Obama. Heck, petty hateful folks such as yourself are a dime-a-dozen in right-wing blogs.

Folks such yourself have zero respect for the office, so why would you expect the same from others?

“A legal president may have to do some things that some people don’t agree with to protect the civilians of his country and keep them free.”

The sort of response I would expect form a Bush stooge. “Do anything to keep us safe! Damn the Bill of Rights and the Constitution!”

“Dems have waited eight years for this, and they make it known and rub it in.”

Oh lord, if the Republicans would have won, the Right would have been insufferable. They lost and they are already obnoxious.

I see NO evidence of “rubbing in” except what’s ringing around in your paranoid delusional head.

Carter has received a lot of flak over the years, but he was only in for one office and didn’t start a war, nor build up a large deficit and increase the debt. There is NO COMPARISON between the W. administration and Carter.

Also, I worked in Washington D.C. when the Monica Lewinsky investigation was going on, and it received a lot of press. But many folks felt like this was a personal issue, though the hypocritical Right, many of whom had their own sex scandals, spent days and millions of dollars on this scandal.

Meanwhile, REAL SCANDALS which severaly hurt the US public are overlooked. And you have the nerve to mention the Lewinsky scandal?

    It’s just astonishing.

“…Pray for those of you who cheat on your wife and think it’s ok when she takes half or more of everything you have worked so hard for in your life.”

Tell that to all of the cheating Republicans.

  97. Baculus says:

Walvepop, are you really that clueless?

Yes, for no apparent reason, Obama’s mother would hop on a plane just to have her son born in Kenya. Yeah, that makes so much sense.

I wish I had an eye rolling emoticon to use as a response.

Theories such as this are simply hopeful wishes of folks such as yourself. You are just too desperate and hope for ANYTHING to prevent the hated Obama from taking office.

    What a bunch of whackjobs.

  98. Spooning_leads24kin says:

Actually, if you actually did any research yourself, you would have already read the temperature index shows the overall average temperature is down a full degree. They said the currents in the ocean were slowing down, and now they are saying they are normal, give me a break and go take a “smoke” break.

Clinton HAD bin Laden but didn’t do anything about it, and his administration was warned long before 9/11 yet he never even raised a brow.

Being that I am an employer, I would definitely report someone smoking a big medicinal fatty anywhere near my job site, it’s a liability for me and my crew.

Funny how you say the authoritarians attack the media when people of the main stream media have even acknowledged they are biased and unfair. Ann Coulter has courage to do what she does and when NBC banned her for life it had negative effects on the network so they had to undo what had been done. Saying what is going on in Gaza was the reason for bumping her from the show still doesn’t explain why they originally banned her for life when they had already said it was due to her attack on the president elect in her new book “Guilty”. I bet you support the fairness doctrine, keep the right wingers quiet, huh?

I won’t be the one looking down a barrel at Obama, but I believe you are right that someone will, whether it is an enemy foreign or domestic. I believe in protecting my country from enemies foreign and domestic and I think it’s time for domestic. Socialism is not the way to go, and I will not give up my guns.

As for your comment on professors, I believe our education system has taken a turn for the wrong and is mis-informing our children and students in colleges around the nation. Pick up some new history books and read them, there is a definite right wing-ness about them. There are some corrections that are correct, but too many right wing views instilled in the writings.

I don’t trust Obama, never did, and never will until he comes clean on issues about his past that I previously brought up.

The desire to change the Constitution on the left, will be our demise and extinction as Americans.

If Obama had the respect you say I should give him, then as part of We the People, I should have a right to vet the best I can the man who would be President. If he had any respect for anybody other than his egotistical self he would release his transcripts for public review along with his C.O.L.B.. Instead, he would rather hire TEAMS of lawyers and pay thousands of dollars to keep it concealed from public view. Why is his Thesis from Columbia not available for view, does it show he may have received financial aid from foreign countries, namely Kenya? Why not show the public an actual C.O.L.B. in stead of a computer printout on his web page. We didn’t have computer printers in the early 60s.

  99. Baculus says:

“Actually, if you actually did any research yourself, you would have already read the temperature index shows the overall average temperature is down a full degree. They said the currents in the ocean were slowing down, and now they are saying they are normal, give me a break and go take a “smoke” break.”

This does not disprove anything I said previously.

‘Clinton HAD bin Laden but didn’t do anything about it, and his administration was warned long before 9/11 yet he never even raised a brow.”

Baloney. The Clinton administration never “had” Bin Laden. An attempt was made to actually kill Bin Laden, but the missile strike at his camp didn’t accomplish the job since Bin Laden wasn’t present at that time.

And Bin Laden STILL hasn’t been caught or killed, so it isn’t as if the Bush administration has shown any better success, has it?

In comparision, what did the Bush administration do in the days leading up to 9-11? Nothing.

“Funny how you say the authoritarians attack the media when people of the main stream media have even acknowledged they are biased and unfair.”

Oh, unlike the Fox News Channel? I watch several media sources, including FNC, and they are the most biased programming other there.

I am not sure when the ” main stream media have even acknowledged they are biased and unfair.” That sounds like some random statement you simply created just to support your position.

It’s also funny how right-wing media commentators are somehow “out” of the MSM – here is a clue, THEY ARE THE MEDIA TOO, and that includes blowhards such as Rush Limbaugh.

“Ann Coulter has courage to do what she does and when NBC banned her for life it had negative effects on the network so they had to undo what had been done.”

Are you kidding me? Ann Coulter has “courage”? That’s a joke – it takes no courage to run your mouth and make obnoxious statements. I hear folks like her every day on message forums: She is basically a troll that writes books which appeals to the lowest common denominator.

Worse yet, she is an out-and-out liar and distorts “facts” in her books.

    Courage my rear end.

“Saying what is going on in Gaza was the reason for bumping her from the show still doesn’t explain why they originally banned her for life when they had already said it was due to her attack on the president elect in her new book “Guilty”. I bet you support the fairness doctrine, keep the right wingers quiet, huh?”

Well, she reaps what she sows, that is all I have to say. It’s a free country – if they want to ban her due to her idiotic comments, then that’s life. She has talked about liberals and democrats being traitors and that some of them should be “executed” as an example.

And she expects that some folks won’t be unhappy with her words? Give me a break.

But no, I don’t support the Fairness Doctrine. As far as I am concerned, idiots like Limbaugh and other conservative talk radio help the cause – they demonstrate, every day, their vileness. Heck, I have read two of Limbaugh’s books and used to watch his TV show in the early 90’s, so it isn’t as if we need to take him off the air – he’ll do that himself.

I may not like his ilk, but I certainly support the First Amendment; unlike some conservatives, I don’t believe in book burning and other assaults on that Free Speech. But is is really, really funny to hear right-wingers all of a sudden worried about ‘”liberty” and “free speech” when they showed none of these concerns over the last eight years, and even before that time, during the Reagan years.

“I won’t be the one looking down a barrel at Obama, but I believe you are right that someone will, whether it is an enemy foreign or domestic. I believe in protecting my country from enemies foreign and domestic and I think it’s time for domestic. Socialism is not the way to go, and I will not give up my guns.”

And folks such as yourself would be delighted if that happened. It is the sort of fantasy that right-wingers are having, and it shows how dangerous some of you are to this nation: Not by your values, but by blind hatred.

As someone said on another message board, “All I want to see are the Democrats crushed.”

Give me a break about “protecting my country from enemies foreign and domestic.” You only care about the “Republican States of America,” and folks such as you or Coulter could care less about the UNITED States of America. Other then the Second Amendment (which I support), the rest of the Bill of Rights are useless for folks such as yourself.

I really hate when folks who do not even understand basic terminology uses words such as “socialism” or “fascism” with no clues to their meaning. Obama is not a socialist nor a communist, though the ignorant right would use these terms. (And it’s especially funny since Sarah Palin is a Socialist herself, with her redistributive oil revenue sharing!)

“As for your comment on professors, I believe our education system has taken a turn for the wrong and is mis-informing our children and students in colleges around the nation. Pick up some new history books and read them, there is a definite right wing-ness about them. There are some corrections that are correct, but too many right wing views instilled in the writings.”

How so? Because they aren’t teaching Creationism or other theological-based belief systems?

Also, I assume you mean too many “left-wing” views, and I really don’t buy it. I have looked at some of the history books used by my nephews, for example, and they were pretty informed and well-written.

Again, professors are always the targets of authoritarians. It is a trend in modern history, and what you’re stating is simply another right-wing assertion in a long line of attacks on the US educational system, such as the book bannings and the attempt to subvert real science with ID teachings.

“I don’t trust Obama, never did, and never will until he comes clean on issues about his past that I previously brought up.”

The press has been talking about Obama for a LONG time at this point. The problem is that nothing Obama has said, or will say, will never make you happy. You are too ideologically rigid to actually change your viewpoint., and what you said earlier is irrelevant, because the Supreme Court wouldn’t even bother its time with the “Birther” lawsuits.

What’s painfully ironic, though, is that Republican scandals and tendencies for secrecy doesn’t bother you one bit. You are inconsistent in your demand for honesty, which you really do not care about, if you ask me.

You just don’t like Obama and you will believe in anything which would get him out of office.

“The desire to change the Constitution on the left, will be our demise and extinction as Americans.”

Again, baloney. The Right have already subverted the Constitution, especially with efforts by the Bush administration. Again, you are inconsistent, and I don’t buy into your supposed concern for the “Constitution.” It is the same fake Constitutionality I hear from other right-wingers.

You have yet to display one iota of concern over real Constitutional issues.

At least Obama taught Constitutional law – he knows it better then the right-wingers who are showing faux concern over this important document.

“If Obama had the respect you say I should give him, then as part of We the People, I should have a right to vet the best I can the man who would be President. If he had any respect for anybody other than his egotistical self he would release his transcripts for public review along with his C.O.L.B..”

My, such a sudden concern for transparency! Of course…when it’s the Republican party and its members, right?

Sorry – it’s all crocodile tears. After the years of secrecy we’ve had to deal with from the Bush White House, sorry if I am not very sympathetic.

Obama has been vetted by the State of Hawaii, and it was good enough for the Supreme Court.

“Instead, he would rather hire TEAMS of lawyers and pay thousands of dollars to keep it concealed from public view.”

Actually, a copy of his COLB has already been revealed, but it’s not good enough for the Crazy Right.

“Why is his Thesis from Columbia not available for view, does it show he may have received financial aid from foreign countries, namely Kenya? Why not show the public an actual C.O.L.B. in stead of a computer printout on his web page. We didn’t have computer printers in the early 60s.”

My, my, if you only applied the same zeal to real issues!

Well, I guess when George W. Bush actually comes clean on his time spent, or lack of it, in the National Guard, then maybe we’ll find Obama’s thesis, right?

Who knows why it can’t be found – I am not sure if the normal procedure for keeping thesis papers, and it’s not really a concern to me, because it’s not really relevant.

Also, a thesis paper isn’t going to have anything about student aid or some such. Do you even know what a thesis is in the first place? It’s a PAPER on a particular subject – why would it have anything about financial aid?

It is a computer printout because IT’S A COMPUTER PRINTOUT. It’s a copy issued by the state of Hawaii; I don’t know why that’s so hard to figure out. But apparently the Crazy Right can’t make these basic deductions.

It’s, again, really funny/sad to see the preoccupation of the Right with these issues while the behavior of the Bush administration – with its secretive meetings, deleting and losing e-mails, Cheney’s declaration that his office is not part of the Executive Branch, on and on…none of this bothers you.

But fail to locate a thesis, and “Oh no, it’s a conspiracy!”

  100. Baculus says:

BTW, I did research this issue a bit further and nothing substantial could be found. I did find the below article, which has interview with the professor that graded the thesis paper.

    The professor stated the following:

“My recollection is that the paper was an analysis of the evolution of the arms reduction negotiations between the Soviet Union and the United States,” Baron said in an e-mail. “At that time, a hot topic in foreign policy circles was finding a way in which each country could safely reduce the large arsenal of nuclear weapons pointed at the other … For U.S. policy makers in both political parties, the aim was not disarmament, but achieving deep reductions in the Soviet nuclear arsenal and keeping a substantial and permanent American advantage. As I remember it, the paper was about those negotiations, their tactics and chances for success. Barack got an A.”

Baron said that, even if he could find a copy of the paper, it would likely disappoint Obama’s critics. “The course was not a polemical course, it was a course in decision making and how decisions got made,” he said. “None of the papers in the class were controversial.”

So would it provide any political ammunition today? “I don’t think it would at all,” Baron said. “It wasn’t a position paper; it was an analysis of decision-making.”

Columbia itself said, “…it never had a copy of the paper in its archives, and doesn’t today. A spokesman said that no student technically could have written a thesis in 1983, since the university didn’t even have a thesis requirement for undergraduates then.”

    The article continues…

“At the time Barack Obama was a student, the political science department had no mechanism by which undergraduate political science majors in Columbia College could receive recognition for writing an independent thesis,” said university spokesman Robert Hornsby. “The department’s procedures for students to write theses were created in the 1990s.”

Obama’s spokesman seconds that notion: “Senator Obama did not write a thesis, in fact, Columbia’s political science department didn’t even begin offering the option for College undergraduates to write independent credit theses until the 1990s, well after Obama had graduated.”

    http://deepbackground.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2008/07/24/1219454.aspx

Thus, at that time, a thesis wasn’t even a requirement for the undergrads. So, in short, the hunt is for something that really does not exist. The closest thing to a “thesis” was that position paper which was discussed by the professor.

In short, a lot of folks are on a wild goose chase.

Whatever happened to the respect that was given to the office of The President of the United States of America? Now, more than ever, we need to stick together as a nation that God has given a gift that not many other nations enjoy. We can do it again.
Thanks, and may God continue to bless America

BTW, Spooning_leads24kin, we have zero evidence that Coulter was “banned for life” from NBC. Of course, who is the source of this rumor? Coulter herself, who, most likely, fabricated the entire rumor for her benefit.

NBC *was* under fire for scheduling Coulter on her network. After all, her books are simply one hateful tirade after another and folks were a bit unhappy that the network would provide a forum for the shrill hate monger.

Nobody is obligated to provide her an opportunity to spew her garbage.

But they agreed to reschedule her interview, except, at that point, she wanted to make a drama over the entire affair.

  105. ceejae says:

Some of you posters continue to contend that Bill Clinton could have gotten Bin Laden and failed to do so. Have all of you forgotten, the Marine Unit that came back from Afghanistan and stated that they HAD Bin Laden, they were only a couple of miles away from Bin Ladens camps, had verified that he was actually there and moved forward to capture him, and suddenly they were given orders from their immediate Superiors to pull back and return to base and those superiors got their DIRECT ORDERS from Rumsfeld who got his orders from GW Bush. Did you also forget when ABSOLUTELY NO-ONE was allowed to fly after 9/11- GW BUSH arranged for safe travel for Bin Laden’s Family out of the US. Did you also forget that Bin Laden and Bush were friends and went to school together – GW Bush had ample opportunities to get Bin Laden and REFUSED to do so. In fact after 9/11 Bush IMPLIED REPEATEDLY that Saddamm Hussein WAS responsible for 9/11 to PROTECT his family friend Bin Laden. Furthermore, GW Bush made the statement on National TV REPEATEDLY that “We are not looking for Bin Laden”. He was more interested in lying to get into Iraq for the OIL and over 4500 of our children died for that LIE. Some day when you are ready for the truth seek out an autobiography on G.W. Bush and you will find pictures of him and Bin Laden together.

The Only reason that Baculus and the rest of the commie tratiors like Bill “The Wigger”Clinton is that under his administration, The Darkies and the rest of This societies Trash got a free hand out and then went and bought Crack with it at the expense of decent Hard Working Americans.

Its obvious to me that the outgoing administration has shown what the “rich and powerful” think of a black man becoming President of the United States.
If this isn’t telling President-Elect Obama to go sit in the back of the bus I don’t what else it could be.
I am a life long Republican who faced with a choice of McCain/Obama voted for Obama. After McCain first failed attempt at gaining the presidency he joind with Joe Lieberman to try to restrict the gun rights of honest americans. I’v never trusted him since.
Go Obama, show the world what an honest man can accomplish!

There are Special Punishments for TRAITORS LIKE YOU

  107. Baculus says:

Thank you, Bearly – what you said is a counter-demonstration to the claims by some on the Right: That it was only “wild-eyed lefties” who voted for Obama.

  108. Baculus says:

Rightsidecj, thank the Lord your kind are a dying breed.

    Seriously – “darkies”?

So, yes, go ahead – mash your keyboard. Utter whatever stupendously moronic statement dribbles from your small, pea-like brain. It’s a free country, and we are free to laugh at your ignorance,

So here it is. Ha ha ha!

Yeah, as if your lame arse really cares about “decent, hardworking people.”

  109. Baculus says:

Ceejae, thoe are all good points. Before 9-11, some FBI agents were frustrated because they were told to “back off” from some of their investigations into the Bin Laden family.

Why was this? It’s simple – the Bush and the Bin Ladens have an old family history, dating back to the 70’s when the Bin Ladens invested into George W. Bush’s first business.

Also, folks seem to forget about the BCCI, the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, which is an interesting story unto itself. This bank, which was set up during the 80’s, was ultimately dismantled because it was being used by terrorists and drug kingpins and cartels for money laundering. Who was involved with the investigation that led to its demise in the early 90’s? John Kerry.

What did Osama Bin Laden, the Bush family, and even Saddam Husein all have in common? They all had accounts with this bank.

Even when Kerry was investigating this bank, which went on for several years in spite of pressure to back off his investigation, George W. Bush was conducting business with the bank.

This isn’t conspiracy – it is a matter of public record. The demise of this bank was seen as a major blow against both international terrorism and South American drug cartels.

The irony is that, while sen. Kerry, through his dogged determination, helped to take down one of the major banking and laundering institutions for scum of the world, people, in the 2004 election, were calling him “soft on terror.”

Most folks have probably never heard of the Bank of Credit and Commerce International, either. This particular story has been lost in the memory hole, along with other events.

What does this mean? I have no idea, but I will say this: before these right-wingers start blaming Clinton for the Bush administration’s mess, maybe they also need to look even deeper for events that took place much earlier.

  110. Baculus says:

    I completely agree, ASADVETERAN.

How about Porch Monkey or Coon then.

The South back in the 1800’s should have done us all a favor and wiped them all out.

My only disgust is that you are still alive and free

  116. Kedyn says:

Obama must have offended Bush in some way for Bush to snub him like this.

But it’s not like this is anything new. World leaders can be more childish than children sometimes, not matter what their political affiliations and ideologies are.
