Except, of course, the attacks by Hamas would be quite a bit more destructive than a flick in the back of the head if they managed to place them better. How long would you be willing to wait while folks lobbed rockets in your direction? Would it be ok as long as they didn’t hit your house or your kid’s school? Could our govt ignore it until someone you car about was actually killed?

I wouldn't be willing to wait at all. I'd be pressuring my government from day one to engage with these neighbors in legitimate and productive peace talks that will end the attacks for good.

Fred, I saw two questions from you. "Are you proud" in the little Atta tale and "What more do they have" after the pebble an*logy. I find no pride in war no matter the cause or participants. That's a perverted thought process you have there. As for Hamas weapons, they have a variety of guns and rockets according to news reports. I have neither the time nor the desire to research the specifics for you. But it's obvious that their weapons have the potential to kill quite a few people when they hit their target. Do they deserve a pass on those since they fail to hit their targets?

Your comments frequently take on that petulant tone when your arguments don't go as planned. ;)

republicans hate facts Says:

Well you’re both right in some fashion. It’s not so much that Israel wants war as much as it wants the situation that guarantees war - which is an expansion of territories that eventually push the Palestinians into neighboring countries. So no while war isn’t the SPECIFIC target they may be seeking, it is the product of their policies and one they are more than willing to live with to keep the zionist fantasy alive! They’re pussies with guns - probably a lot like you when you go hunting with your (cough) buddies ;)

The perpetual state of war also doesn't hurt Israel's $4 billion homeland security industry.

OK, the whole point of my analogy was the imbalance of force involved, and you just completely screwed that up by introducing weapons. A more appropriate relative image would be the punk repeatedly flicking the karate master in the back of the head.

upright left Says:
Two wrongs most certainly don’t make a right. Similarly, it doesn’t help the situation to act as though Hamas is a peace-loving blameless group of guys playfully tossing pebbles at Israeli soldiers in tanks.

Really….Really? Put it in perspective for us righty. How much more than that do they really have, really.

Now compare that to Israel’s army…..

You look foolish when you say things like this.

Well, I could have used the an*logy used by someone on your side. Substitute "lobbing fire crackers into the Israeli wilderness" for the pebble comment. Better? Or is it just that you excuse any attack as long as it is carried out by a smaller group on a larger group? Larger and stronger groups have to endure attacks until the smaller group kills as many as the larger group? Is it really war and killing that you oppose or just killing by a larger group no matter the provocation?

upright left Says:
Israel and Hamas are both at fault in the failure to resolve the situation. That hardly means a nation has to allow itself to be a perpetual target.

I'm sorry, I disagree. Israel is in control. Israel decides whether there will be peace and they choose war. It is all on Israel.

When Hammas controls Israels drinking water, medical supplies, life sustaining jobs, etc. then Hammas will have a share of the blame. Until then, you are wrong.

upright left and a whole bunch of people like to ignore the fact that Israel has them blocked in and denying them basic amenities like food, water and electricity.

I was taught a long time ago that two wrongs don’t make a right. I thought everyone with some sense had this knowledge. Humans are obviously stupid on a grand scale.

Two wrongs most certainly don't make a right. Similarly, it doesn't help the situation to act as though Hamas is a peace-loving blameless group of guys playfully tossing pebbles at Israeli soldiers in tanks.

Hey uprighty, here’s what you are part of….are ya proud?

“In 1996, Israeli jets bombed a UN building where civilians had taken refuge at Cana/ Qana in south Lebanon, killing 102 persons; in the place where Jesus is said to have made water into wine, Israeli bombs wrought a different sort of transformation.

In the distant, picturesque port of Hamburg, a young graduate student studying traditional architecture of Aleppo saw footage like this on the news [graphic]. He was consumed with anguish and the desire for revenge. As soon as operation Grapes of Wrath had begun the week before, he had written out a martyrdom will, indicating his willingness to die avenging the victims, killed in that operation–with airplanes and bombs that were a free gift from the United States.

His name was Muhammad Atta. Five years later he piloted American Airlines 11 into the World Trade Center.”

Yeah Fred, that's rather like the abortion senario that ends "You've just killed Beethoven," or the Legend of the Candy Cane. Do you have any more proof the Atta story is true? Even if it was true, it would hardly change the situation. I'm all for peace. Israel and Hamas are both at fault in the failure to resolve the situation. That hardly means a nation has to allow itself to be a perpetual target.

Imagine that before the beating started, the cowardly punk had for months been lobbing molotov cocktails at the musclebound guy’s house (from the roof of a school)but had only managed to hit his car and his shed, and the guy is shouting “I’m going to make sure this punk can no longer endanger my family and my house since no one else is going to protect them,” and you have a pretty good picture. ;)

Now imagine that before the “cowardly punk” began throwing the cocktails, the musclebound guy built a wall around the “punk’s” house, and prevented food and medical supplies from entering, as well as anyone from the “punk’s” house from leaving to go to work. Now you’ll get a better picture.

Israel’s steps are not designed to enhance Israel’s security; they are designed to perpetuate a state of war.

Now imagine that before... well you get the idea. I disagree that Israel wants a perpetual state of war, but the point was that Hamas isn't an innocent victim anymore than Israel is.

Well why didn’t the musclebound guy go over and talk to the cowardly punk and find out why the cowardly punk was lobbing the molotov cocktails? Seems maybe they could get to know each other a little bit better that way…

______

That would have been the ideal response along with finding out why the punk chose the molotov cocktails instead of tryng to talk to the guy about their problems.
