Joe the Plumber: ‘I think media should be abolished’ from reporting on war.

Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher, aka “Joe the Plumber,” is currently in Israel covering the war for the conservative site PJTV.com. When asked what he has learned from his new experiences as a journalist, Wurzelbacher said that he believes the media shouldn’t be allowed to do “reporting” on wars:

I’ll be honest with you. I don’t think journalists should be anywhere allowed war. I mean, you guys report where our troops are at. You report what’s happening day to day. You make a big deal out of it. I think it’s asinine. You know, I liked back in World War I and World War II when you’d go to the theater and you’d see your troops on, you know, the screen and everyone would be real excited and happy for’em. Now everyone’s got an opinion and wants to downer–and down soldiers. You know, American soldiers or Israeli soldiers.

I think media should be abolished from, uh, you know, reporting. You know, war is hell. And if you’re gonna sit there and say, “Well look at this atrocity,” well you don’t know the whole story behind it half the time, so I think the media should have no business in it.

Does it strike anyone else as ironic that Joe the Plumber bashes the media, yet without the media, he’d be just another unlicensed 40k-a-year plumber’s helper in Ohio?

Funny how inelegant his language skills are when trying to express a thought that is not simple jingoistic right wing propaganda.

I am so glad he’s playing for the other team.

  17. Curlew says:

Its interesting that the versitile and eloquent Joe remembers the days of World War 1 and II when he obviously used to go to the theater to watch news clips from the war.

This idiot has had his 15 minutes of fame (now expanded to 20) When can we expect to no longer have to hear a peep out of the non plumber?

  18. lokidog says:

For f***s sake – hasn’t Bush embarrassed our country enough?

    This is frightening.

  21. dasm says:

Joe the plumber (and let’s never forget that isn’t his name or job) has once again proved himself to be as ignorant, stupid, and completely devoid of any understanding of what is going on in the real world as Sarah Palin. The 2 deserve each other. Joe – go away. You are making yourself into a laughing strock even more than you were during the campaign. There’s 15 min of fame, and beyond that, it’s more minutes of being pathetic & stupid. You’re now in the 2nd group.

  22. LibertyLover says:

“I think media should be abolished from, uh, you know, reporting.”

Out of sight out of mind, you know, that way, they can paint war as something spectacular to participate in instead of the hell that it is. They can glorify it like in the War movies of John Wayne instead of showing the truth about war and what it does to people like in Taxi to the Dark Side and In the Valley of Elah.

Reporting on the VietNam War — bringing it into everyone’s living room — is what turned the American Public against War. But they don’t want that to happen ever again, do they?

And Joe the Plumber should turn in his plunger AND his microphone and pick up a gun and stand post since he is so in favor of war.

  23. Blame Canada says:

It would be nice if one of the ‘journalist’s’ sticking a microphone and/or a notepad in this skid mark’s face would actually let him have it. But then that would require some balls and we know the media in this country has none.

  24. hanshiro says:

Apparently, Joe is a big fan of fascism, where the government tells you what to think and how to feel…like one long John Wayne movie.

From the 14 Points Of Fascism:

    #6. Controlled Mass Media

Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

    Heckuva job, Joe.

  25. dasm says:

Sorry- but I must continue. Joe thinks reporters should be “abolished” from reporting? My God this man is pathetic. Who should report, then, Joe? People like you, who are so ignorant & stupid they have no understanding– NO UNDERSTANDING – of what is going on in the world? Please, Joe, fold up your tent & go away.

  26. krazeeinjun says:

Joe The Plumber — meet Joe the Goebbels.

  27. EnnuiDivine says:

I’m sure it’s been said, but..

the media should be abolished from reporting on dumb schmucks like that guy.

  28. Nevar says:

Interesting that he is being interviewed, and he chooses to ridicule the journalists who are interviewing him.

He’s not functioning as a journalist, he is being trotted around as a celebrity by the Israelis.

  29. dasm says:

Joe the Plumber – who is, in reality, neither– what a loser cashing in on media hype. A no-intelligence goober looking to cash in on the ignorance of the right wing. But they might listen to him! There’s a mutual-self-love in this stupid group. Joe has no smarts or facts; the right wing accepts that with open arms!

  31. SP Biloxi says:

Edward R. Murrow would not only roll over his grave and be on the floor dying laughing. Next to Jeff Gannon, an absolute embarrassment in the name of journalism. I should have called Joe several weeks ago before he headed out to Israel when I had a backed up toilet. This is all of about the benjamins for Joe the Plumber. And I hope every last dime that Joe the Plumber pimping for or cashing in is really worth it for him to make a total village idiot of himself. What’s next for Joe? A reality TV show: Dude, where’s my plunger?

  32. MysteriousTraveller says:

I hope that whoever is financially backing PJTV goes broke.

  33. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Hythloday Says:
How is what he proposes any differen from reinstating the Fairness Doctrine?

Simple. The Fairness Doctrine demands that, as a condition of using the public airwaves, broadcasters give opposing views equal time when they air political content.

What Sam Wurzelbacher , aka Joe duh Plumber, proposes is government control of public information in wartime.

  34. coskibum says:

The dems that enable it all get a free pass.

In fact, you can get flamed or even banned at most of these sites for pointing out the fact that none of these morons would be in the media if the dems had taken meaningful action against the criminality, looting, treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity.

Every one of the pundits and media shills are laughing all the way to the bank, including this faux plumber.

  42. fletc3her says:

I think he’s found his calling. He enunciates the right wing world view perfectly. Everyone would be happier if the media would just stop telling people about the bad news! Bush’s approval rating would be high. New Orleans would still be wrecked, but nobody north of Louisiana would know about it. People could die of melamine poisoning and e.coli in the bagged spinach quietly without making people reconsider breastfeeding or buying produce locally. And, we’d think everything was going swimmingly in Iraq, we were greeted as liberators, and all the schoolchildren spend the first half hour of their day praising George Bush.

  43. SP Biloxi says:

Hold off on the balloons and cake for Joe! For those who are scraping ever last dime to get Joe’s book “Joe the Plumber: Fighting for the American Dream”, use your dough on something useful because Joe’s book is temporary out of stock at Amazon. It has been 1 month since he released his book and the reviews on his book ain’t that good: 2 1/2 stars. Here is the ranking of Joe the War reporter’s book:

Amazon.com Sales Rank: #208,930 in Books

  49. curious says:

The man is being used for only one reason. Name value. Surely no one expects that he would know what to ask, how to frame a question much less the important follow up. Nor would he know anything politically or knowledge regarding the country he is visiting. This man is an unsophisticated yahoo.

He is being used the same way that Fox uses people on their network. Not for what they know but for bias and hubris in what they present. This man is the kind they would have on Fox.

If some organization wants to hire him they must be in dire need of publicity and hard up for anyone intelligent enough to send. Or at the very least, anyone too smart to go.

  61. Nevar says:

Something is just really weird about the whole thing.
Joe is obviously being used by the Israeli’s to push some propaganda about the missiles landing in Isreali territory.
Joe asks: “Why are you guys collecting this stuff?” (duh), and the officer launches in to an obviously scripted monologue about what they do after a rocket has hit. Joe is too dense to pick up the thread, and instead looks around the room and starts ripping into the reporters and camera people.

Down deep, I’m certain Joe knows he is in way over his head, and it pisses him off.

The Acme Troll Employment Agency will pick him up when he gets back to the states. He’d be a natural.

Do you remember when dems ran in 2006 on accountability.

We saw none – that is why morons like our faux plumber can become media darlings. If the chimp had been impeached the rest of the criminal cabal discredited, we would not see folks like our faux plumber in the MSM.

Is this really so hard to understand?

  69. Shayne says:

There are more right wingers hanging around here than at Red States lately. Oh year, they all are extremely progressive and they all voted for Obama, blah, blah, blah. Is this really so hard to understand?

No, it’s not hard to understand, once one realizes the lengths to which some will go to blame Democrats for completely unrelated cultural phenomena.

Joe the Plumber was a phenomenon of a desperate Republican candidate’s grasping at straws in a presidential election. Are you suggesting that, had Democrats impeached Bush in 2007, there would not have been an election? Or that the Republican candidate would not have used a faux-populist “Average Joe” to enhance his campaign?

Or that the lazy news media would not have made Joe a demi-celebrity of sorts?

I’m disappointed in the performance of Democrats in Congress over the last few years, too. I just think it’s absurd to try to blame Joe the plumber on them.

  73. wizard2000 says:

Think of the strings that had to be pulled to get Joe the Plumber over there, ranting the way he is.

Top-level Israeli officials and top-level Bush administration officials had to have agreed long before Joe the Plumber boarded an airplane in the States to go over there, but with the initial push coming from the Bush side. Condi Rice probably had to sign off on Joe’s little trip as a “foreign war correspondent.”

What I wouldn’t give to hear the conversations that must have occurred between Israeli and Bush administration officials as they discussed Joe the Plumber’s proposed trip.

  74. ralph the wonder llama says:

I wonder… did Joe trust the Clinton administration to tell him the truth about Kosovo in 1998?

    Dear Sam Joe,
“Why of course the people don’t want war. Why should some poor slob on a farm want to risk his life in a war when the best he can get out of it is to come back to his farm in one piece? Naturally the common people don’t want war; neither in Russia, nor in England, nor in America, nor in Germany. That is understood. But after all, it is the leaders of the country who determine policy, and it is always a simple matter to drag the people along, whether it is a democracy, or a fascist dictatorship, or a parliament, or a communist dictatorship. Voice or no voice the people can always be brought to the bidding of the leaders. That is easy. All you have to do is to tell them they are being attacked, and denounce the pacifists for lack of patriotism and exposing the country to danger. It works the same in any country.”

ralph is right. Don’t blame the Democrats just because the Republicans refuse to campaign on issues, and instead choose to inflame voters with hot button issues. Have you noticed something? The elections are over – and so is the faux “outrage” from the right abut gay marriage. They are using Joe, just like they use wedge issues. That is not the fault of the Democrats, that is the fault of the Republicans.

  99. Shayne says:

Well Wayne the new wedge issue is media bias. Obama won because the press was so biased. Obama got a free pass and poor Sarah was picked on. I guess it was her preacher not Jeremiah Wright that was the problem. It wasn’t Michelle Obama attacked for saying for the first time she was REALLY proud. Of course that “really” was edited out all over the news but still available for those who wanted the facts. Poor, poor Sarah, if only she had been treated fairly like the Obamas. She should have frightened the media with one of those terrorist fist jabs.

What idiot hired this guy to be a “journalist”? Both Joe and the person who hired him should be fired. So should whoever let him go to Israel for this purpose.

  105. Fool Zero says:

I don’t think journalists should be anywhere allowed war.

Sheesh, Joeplumberisms sound a lot like Bushisms! Is our media learning? Is our children abolished?

Oh , how the mighty have truly fallen …….

We once were viewed as the champions of democracy , looked upon with a sort of askance , and respected pretty much world-wide ; our media was also the creme’ de la creme’ , with Murrow , Cronkite , and the like leading the way.

We are now relegated to Chimpy and Co , and this poor excuse for a “reporter” ; I mean , even Bible Spice Palin went to school for journalism.

Does this knucklehead know the difference between a pipe snake and a pipe bomb ?

    What a disgrace ……….

  108. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Shayne,

If you haven’t already read it, I highly recommend David Brock’s “The Republican Noise Machine”. It’s an excellent account of how the right-wing infiltrated (no better word) the media business because they felt their side of the story wasn’t being given out. Theh fact that their side was often wrong, or in dispute with the rest of the facts being reported, didn’t seem to penetrate them.

IMHO, in general, especially where their government is concerned, liberals are biased toward exposing the truth, while conservatives are biased toward secrecy. So any time the media exposes the government telling lies, the conservatives scream and call that “liberal media bias”, because they would not do such a thing if they ran the media.

About 40 years ago, Edith Efron wrote a book (”The News Twisters”) which purported to “prove” the media was liberally biased. For several weeks, she watched the main news broadcasts, and any story that was favorable toward Nixon was considered good, and anything that was in the least bit critical of Nixon, or anything associated with him, such as the Viwtnam War, was considered bad. It was very unscientiofic, and very poorly done, but Nixon used his influence to make it a best-seller (he had Haldeman find out which book stored the NYT used to rate best-sellers and bought up allthe copies inthose stores). Ever since, the right-wing has been absolutely convinced that the media is liberally biased.

  109. southrnbelle says:

And will someone please tell me, Who gives a FLYING F#CK what this moron “thinks”????

Also, will the media PLEASE do all of us a TREMENDOUS favor and STOP reporting on this idiot and his Playmate, the “Airhead from Alaska” (I can’t even remember her name anymore, Thank God!)!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  114. Shayne says:

Wayne, it’s like the new meme that MSNBC is worse than Fox. And how Fox has much better ratings when MSNBC is not part of the regular cable package in many areas. And those regulars like Joe Scarborough, Pat Buchanan and Tucker Carlson are so liberal.

  115. christopher wiwi says:

What a complete idiot this cretin is, can you imagine? Joe go stick your head way far up your butt, then you can get all the news you want from your colon.

    Repukes are dicks.

  117. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Shayne,

I know. And Tucker Carlson is so “liberal” that MSNBC barely has him on anymore. Actually, he’s an incompetent doofus, but as soon as they let him go, he’ll get a job at FNC. I think the main reason that Pat Buchanan is still around is because Rachel Maddow loves to debate with him, and she would be sorry to see him go. And I still haven’t figured out the need to have a “Morning Joe” on their network, except as another foil for debating issues. But I like most fo the rest of their on-air staff.

Plummerboy supports the right’s view of the way things should be 100%. They don’t understand even the idea of war reporters like Murrow or the best of the best, George Seldes. Anything that may let in the light of truth or reality must be opposed in conserv-o-world or the whole house of cards built on deception falls.

Information control is the bread and butter of the right. They have demonized any source of info that does not support their world view to the point where none of them will even listen to or read anything not on the approved list. They won’t entertain thoughts till such time as they are told it is OK by Rush/Fox/Coulter/O’reily/Sun Myung Moon. They all wait for orders from their handlers. This IS a form of information control and it is a huge mind control technique.

Rush has been conditioning them for 3 hours a day, five days a week for the last 20 years. Koresh did not condition his cult that much. Conservatism, as it is practiced today, is a huge national security issue but no one will face it. Many know it is a problem – when almost half the nation lives in a reality free zone in which they can EASILY be manipulated since they have been so effectively conditioned to do so – but no one will talk about it.

Obama would not even mention the fact that conservative ideology is at the root of our nation and the world’s problems.

The right’s “True Savior” has done what he intended with them and our nation. The right has been molded into his image. Now he’s doing what he did here to the rest of the planet but no one sees – right or left.

At this point, a furious Sharon reportedly turned toward Peres, saying “every time we do something you tell me Americans will do this and will do that. I want to tell you something very clear, don’t worry about American pressure on Israel, we, the Jewish people control America, and the Americans know it.”

Why do you wonder that? Did Joe the Plumber say something that led you toward that thought? Or are you perhaps projecting your own beliefs onto his incoherent gibberish?

‘Cause I didn’t see anything like what you suggested in Joe’s “report”.

Besides, you can’t say you believe in “completely free media” and then in the next breath start piling limitations on it. If you believe in “completely free media” then have the courage of that conviction, and recognize that it comes with a cost, and hopefully the benefit to a free society will outweigh the cost.

Otherwise, you don’t believe in “completely free media”, you believe in “relatively free media”. Big difference.

  161. Keith says:

Fine ralph, I believe in “relatively free media”… happy?

But then… will you criticize my definition of that too?

Hiding the truth is flat out wrong. I’m just saying… free press can cause as just as many problems if they open the floodgates when the public is already at a tipping point. When it leads to public violence, riots, and angry mobs causing more deaths… how is that justified?

Before you decide to pick this apart though… just know im on your side.

  166. Baculus says:

“Joe the Plumber” would make a good little fascist.

I will say this: if you are using “Joe the Plumber” for political inspiration, then you must be in a sorry, desperate shape. Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, the real name of “Joe the Plumber,” has an issue with honesty: the questions he aimed at Obama turned out be totally false. Heck, he isn’t even a real plumber, according to his work habits.

So why would anyone make a hero out of some lying bit player in the US 2008 election race? Is this some odd attempt at populism by the right-wing, to create a supposed “every man” hero out of Mr. Wurzelbacher?

I will tell you this: “Joe” surely doesn’t represent me, nor does he represent the millions of Americans who rejected and his right-wing buddies.

What sort of Sparta military state do some Americans desire, where the civilian structure is dominated by a military, authoritarian state? Where troops are not responsible for their actions when they do break US and civilian law, and any such violations are quickly buried by the military (which we have seen in more then one occasion).

We already have issues within the US government and the military with whistle blowers being intimated, reassigned, or fired from their position. Look what happened to the folks who reported the war profiteering by Halliburton and KBR?

Of course, to “Joe the Guy in Israel,” this is irrelevant, but what do you except from someone who’s as ignorant as this fellow?

  167. yvdc17a says:

I AM SURE YOU WOULD NOT FEEL THE SAME WAY ABOUT THE IRRESPONSIBILITY OF THE MEDIA’S REPORTING, IF IT WERE YOUR KID WHO WAS THERE. ALL I CAN SAY IS THANK GOD MY KIDS ARE NOT THERE. WHEN YOU HAVE LOST ALL OF YOUR FREEDOM BECAUSE YOU REGARD THE SAFETY OF THOSE WHO FIGHT TO PROTECT YOU AND YOUR FREEDOM, REMEMBER IT IS PEOPLE LIKE YOU WHO THOUGHT IT WAS OKAY TO ENDANGER OTHER PEOPLES LIVES. IF YOU ARE REALLY SO CONCERNED ABOUT WAR AND HOW TERRIBLE IT IS, AND HOW IT KILLS SO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE…START LOOKING IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD. YOU MAY NOT BE THE ONE PULLING THE TRIGGER, BUT YOU BECOME AN ACCOMPLICE WHEN YOU CONDONE IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM! YOU CLAIM TO BE SO CONCERNED ABOUT FREEDOM OF THE PRESS AND FREEDOM FOR YOUR RIGHTS………..THOSE KIDS HAVE GIVEN UP THEIR RIGHTS SO YOU CAN CONTINUE TO MAKE A FOOL OF YOURSELF AND EVERYONE ELSE IN THIS COUNTRY. NO WONDER NO ONE RESPECTS US OR ANYTHING OUR COUNTRY STANDS FOR. WHY SHOULD THEY, IF YOU DON’T HAVE HAVE ANY SELF-RESPECT, PRIDE OR COURAGE? THERE IS AN OLD SAYING, “IF YOU DON’T STAND UP FOR SOMETHING…..YOU WILL FALL FOR ANYTHING AND EVERTHING” SHAME ON YOU! P.S. I AM NOT A CONSSERVATIVE. I JUST DON’T LIKE STUPIDITY AND/OR IGNORANCE. HOWEVER, IT SEEMS THAT THERE IS PLENTY OF IT TO GO AROUND. YOU ARE HYPOCRITES. IT IS NOT OKAY TO BE A CRAZY FANATICAL RIGHT WING NUT….IT’S JUST OKAY TO BE A CRAZY FANATICAL LEFT WING NUT. YOU PEOPLE NEED A LITTLE BALANCE. A LITTLE BIT OF RESPONSIBLE REPORTING IS A GOOD THING…….BUT ONLY IDIOTS TELL THE WHOLE WORLD WHAT THE HELL WE ARE DOING, WHAT WE PLAN TO DO AND WHERE WE ARE WHEN WE ARE IN A WAR. Hey, Mr. 17A,

Nobody in their right mind is suggesting that the media report on where our soldiers are and what their missions are before they happen. But we Ldo want to know THE TRUTH about what is happening there, and that’s why you want independent media to go into the war zones and report. In case you haven’t noticed, our government has a well-documented history about lying to us about what our troops are doing in battle.

BTW, in case you forgot, it was Fox News Channel’s own Geraldo Rivera who famously drew a map in the sand on live television, telling the viewers about a secret supply line running alongside the path they told us they were taking. As a result of this irresponsible “reporting” (some would call it treason), the Pentagon asked that Geraldo be removed from Iraq, along with the only three other people they asked to leave Iraq, Saddam and his two sons. FNC used their connections at the White House to overrule the Pentagon, and Geraldo got to stay. We want the truth, but not when it endangers our troops. Conservatives don’t think like that.

And I’m much smarter than Joe the Non-Plumber.

I guess he gets a pretty high coverage by the media there; But aside his sheer mediocrity one thing’s even scarier: we can’t help but to be astonished how americans let this smartless, talentless person become such a big deal in their media and everday lives, making whatever he says or does matter. His 15 minutes of fame won’t be over any time soon as, like it or not, he inspires you all much more to watch, hear and comment than the decent person out there. And while the dogs bark… the caravan passes.

  188. SaraBeth says:

Why does the media find this guy to be newsworthy?

  189. Purple State says:

I can picture what John Stewart’s about to say tonight.

“Uh…Joe? You’re there AS A JOURNALIST! Why are YOU there?!”

  190. DaveG says:

How about that he’s become a part of the media just to go and bash the media? Honestly, these neo-con morons are their own worst enemies. Every next word, of theirs, is a contradiction of the last. That is, so long as it makes a cohesive enough sentence to actually structure in to a contradiction.

  191. slivertech says:

Does this guy have an education beyond 11th grade?

  192. mikemercury says:

…Joe Plumber is exactly the reason why I am tortured to maintain a conservative mind–the fact the GOP will embrace this kind if imbecile as a poster boy for conservative values—an ill-educated loud mouth who parrots Limbaugh and Colter to the oohs and ahhs of the party faithful.

Get rid of the media in war? Restrain free speech and objective reporting? Forget about keeping the government honest?

Hey Joe, why don’t you throw in with the Terrorists….I hear they hate freedom too.

  193. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

This guy is the poster child for “there’s no cure for stupid”.

  194. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

I know what’s wrong with “Joe”. He has tried to ingrate himself with the reporters in Israel and they are all treating him like what he is, a freak.

  195. kaaozz says:

BAD JOE…go lay by your dish .

  196. biggreenpea says:

this goes way beyond the idea that ‘joe’ ‘good ‘ol joe’ is just another average guy. as an argument for average this guy is an insult to the intelligence of truly average people. because this guy is a plant of some kind. since his face appeared on our screens we have been force fed new low after new low as far as new right wing tactics go. i mean he is not quite the bottom dweller of say rush or coulter but he may be a bottom dweller in training. the pure anti-intellectualism of his presentation is a scary and just bad portend for our future. pray this attempt to misinform the american public even more just goes away. he is the biggest fake, or maybe he’s the anti-christ?!?!??!

  197. DNFP says:

    Joe who?

Not his name proper, or his occupation.

    Got any REAL news?

  198. Anonymouse says:

    I’ve another proposal:

No chickenhawks should be allowed to promote or defend militarism.

    What a jack*ss.

  199. Angry McAngus says:

    Gearing up for Palin/Wurzlebacher 2012.

  200. jondor says:

Joe the Plumber is the archetype. Look at this ignorant man. He and those like him are the reason Bush had two terms. Jesus Christ, what a waste of oxygen.

  201. Tawdry says:

Palin/Wurzelbacher 2012. Blagojevich for Secretary of State. Wow! What SNL could do with that!

  202. bgolderrr says:

I uh, believe that uh, we should uh,well uh,wait until joe uh,you know uh, comes around to the right way uh,well that is to say uh the correct way of thinking…(sounds a lot like someone else i’ve been listening to lately)

  203. ElBruce says:

Wait – isn’t this guy reporting on the war, as a journalist? So he doesn’t think anybody should do what he’s supposedly doing? So PJTV paid good money to fly him to Israel, where he immediately stated that he shouldn’t be doing what they paid him to do. Is he going on strike?

I’ve seen eight year olds with more coherent opinions. Of course, his blatant idiocy does explain his opinion on taxes.

His next report ought to be great – “This is Joe the Plumber, committing treason in Israel by reporting on things. Boy, I sure hope they outlaw what I’m doing real soon.”

    In conclusion… PALIN / WURZELBACHER 2012!

    .

    biggreenpea Says:

this goes way beyond the idea that ‘joe’ ‘good ‘ol joe’ is just another average guy. as an argument for average
this guy is an insult to the intelligence of truly average people.

    He’s an average Republican, though.

    .

    flex Says:

Joe the Fake Plumber is your typical lunatic extremist. Ignorant, big mouthed, morally bankrupt, highly opinionated and a natural born Liar.

    Right. An average Republican.

Everybody who keeps saying he should be silenced should realize that you’re trying to help the GOP by doing so. This guy needs to be given as many soapboxes and bullhorns as they can find to feed him, if that’s the quality of his opinions. This is the guy they put in the forefront as their poster boy. He’s an imbecile. That’s good for us. Let him talk.

    .

    Another Joe Says:

In fact, you can get flamed or even banned at most of these sites for pointing out the fact that none of these morons would be in the media if the dems had taken meaningful action against the criminality, looting, treason, war crimes, crimes against humanity.

The Dems don’t have the power to stop Republicans from saying stupid things.

    .

    barak2040 Says:

Joe has the right word there. The press has been responsible for leaking series of military secrets.Life of forces are endangered and many occassions reports are one sided.

You mean, since Geraldo? We all know where the location of Gaza is whether they report it or not.

    .

    barak2040 Says:

Look at Israeli x Hamas report. The press keep telling the world Israel is killing civilians, meanwhile Hamas are the one responsible.

I’m reminded of the big-sibling tactic of grabbing your little brother’s arm and doing a “why are you hitting yourself!” move over and over. Believe it or not, that’s actually Israeli ordnance being fired on those civilians. If you pull a trigger, the moral responsibility is yours and yours alone.

    .

    barak2040 Says:

The have not been reporting cases of over 3000 missiles fired against Israel.

Obviously they have, since you and I both know about them.

    .

    barak2040 Says:

Its heart breaking no one even Un has ever made resolution against the missiles attack. The press have not LIVED UP TO EXPECTATIONS IN THIS WAR.JOE IS RIGHT!

I’m not positive about this, but I don’t believe the U.N. has recognized Hamas as a member state. Therefore it can’t criticize them, as it doesn’t recognize their existence as a sovereign nation.

  204. avchavis says:

This is good – we need “Joe the Dumber” to keep talking. That way, Americans will have a constant reminder of why we SHOULD NEVER vote for “Bush types” again. “Joe the Dumber” is a constant reminder of the last 8 years of ignorance and BS nonsense from Bush and his cronies.

  205. soconnor889 says:

THE MEDIA JEOPARDIZES EVERY SERVICE MAN IN COMBAT WHEN THEY TELL THE WHOLE WORLD WHAT OUR POSITION AND PLANS ARE.

I think the last person to do that on a live feed was Geraldo. I believe he was reporting for FAUX News when he did that. So if you want to ban FAUX News from reporting… nah, I’d still disagree with that. But it’s tempting.

    .

    yvdc17a Says:

WHILE SOME POOR SCHMUCK IS OUT THERE DEFENDING YOUR FREEDOM.

No American serviceman has fought to defend my freedom since 1945.

    .

    yvdc17a Says:

YOU HAVE LOST ALL OF YOUR FREEDOM BECAUSE YOU REGARD THE SAFETY OF THOSE WHO FIGHT TO PROTECT YOU AND YOUR FREEDOM

You mean, when I’ve lost all my freedom because people like you don’t believe we should have freedoms so we can better support the people who are fighting for our freedom?

    .

    yvdc17a Says:

IF YOU ARE REALLY SO CONCERNED ABOUT WAR AND HOW TERRIBLE IT IS, AND HOW IT KILLS SO MANY INNOCENT PEOPLE…START LOOKING IN YOUR OWN BACK YARD.

Whew, I was worried there for a second. But I checked. Nope, no war in my back yard!

    .

    yvdc17a Says:

YOU MAY NOT BE THE ONE PULLING THE TRIGGER, BUT YOU BECOME AN ACCOMPLICE WHEN YOU CONDONE IRRESPONSIBLE JOURNALISM!

Actually, journalists don’t start wars, politicians do.

    .

    yvdc17a Says:

    I AM NOT A CONSSERVATIVE.

Yes, you are. Your post pretty much defines it.

    Exactly.

  209. michael711777 says:

The reporting on the wars has been very limited! Not like years ago, seems they want us to see as little as possible. How much of the battles have we seen up close? It seems to me as years go on we get less and less information on many things.Bailouts should be for the tax payers who are losing there homes, jobs and also others in need as well. This plumber guy and many like him MAKES YOU WONDER WHY MANY COUNTRIES HATE US.We all need to speak up and take a stand soon just like this Moron has done. What happened to the country that was by the PEOPLE AND FOR THE PEOPLE.The working stiff is the backbone of America.

  210. KenTheCarpenter says:

Joe the dumber is more like it, I believe it is our right to know what goes on in a war Joe. We cannot sit back and let violence continue in this world no matter who or where it happens. The innocent people in Gaza do not want to die in vain and with attitude like yours, that shows me that you are scared person. I respect our military, i come from a long line of vets from many of our wars and i thank them for what they have done to try and stop senseless war even if it was not on our land. Hey Joe, give peace a chance right, well how do we live with ourselves not knowing. I pray for a solution everyday and without the media informing me, I would not know where to direct my prayers.I am ashamed that people want to turn the other cheek and not pay attention to war in any country no matter how small or big it is. To the media of the world, keep up the good work and stop reporting what this clown Joe Plumber says..ignorance is not bliss Joe..get a heart

He can thank the Democrats who had such a good time at his expense and the liberal press…..Actors and Rap stars have opinions that the media just loves, but don’t ask the average Joe anything, it is automatic not valid…..Journalists are at the bottom of the scale right above lawyers and just under used car salesmen….

Joe has a valid point about the mainstream media.they never give or show both sides of the story in whole truth, they only report in a way that advances their own personal liberal agenda to manipulate the public be it american or otherwise.my how fast they forget 9/11/01.the ignorance that is portrayed in most of these previous comments is certainly evident enough of the single-mindedness and ignorance that the liberal media has created!brainwashing at it`s finest!

  217. fmoore says:

Can you people not see the media bias in how they reported this? how many times in 3 minutes does Obama say, “uh” this or “uh” that.. and they dont print that.

I love it when people, who virtually never read a book or anything other than headlines, talk about the “liberal” media, when virtually every news outlet is controlled by a conservative individual or corporation. When was the last time you saw Noam Chomsky being interviewed? How about Gore Vidal?

So stop talking nonsense about the “liberal” media. That is a myth.

  227. torzan says:

Is there anyone out there that likes our country?
Why is it that having the freedom to express ones personal views no matter how popular or unpopular it seems to always come out as a cry for rebellion? Just because one has the ability the right to express ones view does not mean one should.
Freedom of speech freedom of the press does not mean that you can shout fire in a crowded theater.
The press has a right to report on any military action we take, if reporting on every little thing it sees is what it really wants to do well OK be dammed the repercussions.
Could you imagine the different out comes of World War I and or II would have been if only we had reported all of the horror and blood shed. I guess speaking German or Japanese wouldn’t be so bad.
Far right far left stuck in the middle conservative or not
Democrat or Republican as long as the press reports on and in bias of our own personal beliefs its all good wait we all have different views and beliefs.
Our U.S. Government has far too many secrets why not expose them all to everyone everywhere that means (everyone everywhere) the media has the right to report, the people have the Wright to know every thing don’t we should they?
Just as I have the right to say over 99% of you really believe in what you say (as ignorant as it may be) and it is I mean just look at your sources T.V neighbors newspapers so on no real first hand knowledge of your own just someone else’s opinions.
Just how critical is it that we report every little piece of right information and not just quantity.
Joe the plumber who’s to say he’s wrong you?

So you guys got programmed to talk about Obamas verbal pauses this week. It is what the hivemind has instructed its dumbest morons to talk about. Yeah we have a President that is thoughtful when he speaks. Sure its a change from President Gump who couldnt put two coherent sentences together to save his life without a teleprompter but when you are actually THINKING while you speak, I know a foreign concept to you brainwashed hiveminders. I know you guys are incapable of higher brain function but it sometimes sounds like that. What a bunch of tools. Are you not embarassed that you are too stupid to even RECOGNIZE thinking?

Eugene, I sense a lot of anger in you. :)
You are right, they have been programmed. But this is in the nature of things. I am outraged myself at what has been done to this country, to its Bill of Rights, and to the public and the public sphere of information. To address it, though, you need to aim your anger at something other than the trolls who have already been programmed.
Stalin was only half right when he said (at least according to legend), “It’s not who votes that counts, it’s who counts the votes”.
Our Founding Fathers had the other main piece, when they specified protection for a Free Press because free press because “they realized that only a well-informed public can govern themselves.”

For the first part, look to the sudden and startling discrepancies between exit poll results (historically accurate to less than a single percentage point) and official poll results in say, the USA 2004 election. The Bush administration itself understood the accuracy of these exit polls and used the discrepancy between exit and official poll results to expose “election fraud that denied Viktor Yushchenko the presidency” in the 2004 Ukraine election. (But somehow these same discrepancies don’t mean anything in the United States elections.)

For the second part, look to the consolidation of mainstream media outlets that has occurred here in the USA, largely during the last decade, as well as the various studies that have been “lost” or “destroyed accidentally” BY THE FCC that showed how much this consolidation damages the ability of press media to give full and impartial coverage to stories of a political nature. Of course, these scandals were hardly even covered by the mainstream media.

If you want to make a difference, you need to aim at the voter tally corruption machines, and perhaps more crucially, at the “free” press which has been swallowed wholesale by radical conservative corporate interests. Arguing with pre-programmed republican trolls will not make a difference.

(Although I admit, it feels good :P )

  235. EugeneDebs says:

    undertoe Says:

You assume facts not in evidence. I have no emotional investment in this I amuse myself. I consider returning the mudslinging of rightwingers to be a moral imperative. They need to GET that the days they had the exclusive franchise on personal attacks is over and if they want to fight in the mud some of us liberals will beat them there too but there is no anger at all in me when I post

As to the rest you are preaching to the chior. Certainly you dont think you are telling me anything I dont know and agree with do you? I could actually expand quite a bit on the media thing but that would be digressing. I do other things to change the world. I just entertain myself here.

Totally off topic, that’s never been found to be true (that Stalin said that) but I would think the way to dis/prove it is whether there’s a word in Russian that stands in like “counts” does to mean either “enumerates” or “matters.” If there isn’t, then he wouldn’t have said it. I highly doubt if Stalin ever crafted puns in English.

I respect your posts, and agree with you that the quote about counting votes has never been found to be truly attributed to josef stalin. That’s why I said “according to legend”. >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Sure because you are an idiot. He didnt HAVE a point. He took us to task for not having FIRST HAND EXPERIENCE and actually finding things out by reading newspapers and such sources now the topic is about Joe ISNTAPLUMBER being in GAZA so where did HE get HIS information on this? IF he didnt just come back from Gaza then IT isnt firsthand either. This is actually pretty simple stuff.

You sound like an individual trying to hard go back to school
Just because you believe something doesn’t make it so.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Please attempt to maintain a minimum level of coherence in your posts. Was that supposed to make sense? I am trying to go back to school? YOU guys are the morons that continue to just make baseless assertions and pretend that makes them true. Look at the irony in this very statement. Is it TRUE that I am trying to go back to school? Did you attempt to read my mind? Was there anything NEARING a point? Things also dont become true because YOU say them or because the poster I responded to says them. Either I AM putting facts in my posts or giving my counter opinion to THEIR opinions. In THAT particular it is called logic. I suggest you brush up on it as it was so very obviously lacking in YOUR POST.

After reading through these comments I to believe people just don’t get it BA BA BA little sheep.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Now the classic projection. It is the rightwing that are the sheeple. It isnt US that tunes in to radio screechmonkeys to find out what WE think. In fact the conventional wisdom about the left is we have a propensity for circular firing squads and the old saying is that trying to get liberals together on anything is like trying to herd cats. Put two liberals in a room you have at least three opinions but let me guess it sounded good when RUSH SAID IT RIGHT?

Your thought process shows your ignorance.
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Your very nick is calling others idiots. Normally when someone starts off that way something monumentally stupid follows. You did not dissapoint. You are truly a moron of gargantuan dimensions. Good luck with that.

I am NOT a Democrat. I left the Democratic Party when they ran Joe Lieberman for VP. I figured they had taken liberals like me for granted about long enough.

  251. enough says:

I, personally, think that faux janitors should be jailed to answer for the sewer lines job they botched in this country before they are allowed to apply their snakes to Republican ears abroad.

  252. enough says:

    Hey Saturday Night Live,

How about a whole evening dedicated to Samuel J. Wurzelbacher, AKA Joe the Faux Plumber.

    Please. Please. Please.

  253. ElBruce says:

Here’s a great exchange from Firedoglake giving an example of Joe’s “reporting.” It basically amounts to trolling people in person and forcing them to agree with you by giving them straw-man questions and then shouting “yes or no!” in their faces.

He might be pretty good with his own FAUX News show someday, but he ain’t doing anything like reporting. So I guess his thing about how reporting from war zones should be “abolished” isn’t as hypocritical as it seemed at first.

  254. raja says:

First it was, “What are the Israelis people supposed to do?”

    Then,

“I Think Media Should Be Abolished From, Uh, You Know, Reporting.”

Next, he’ll say: “Our enemies are innovative and resourceful, and so are we. They never stop thinking about new ways to harm our country and our people, and neither do we.”

  255. csuka says:

As far as the media reporting what is there, they are reporting what they want you to see! Any one of you can go and listen to / watch news from another country over on that side of the world. I guarantee you what you get is not the same! I don’t trust the media, they are absolutely biased to the left.

    Just Curious
What would any of you do if you had to worry about missiles coming over into your neighborhood? Turn the other cheak? Maybe until one of your loved ones got blown up. Then what, sit back again and wait for another missile? Your all so wise, tell me this. If all the peace talking is irrelevant because the other side simply does not care. What do you do?

  256. dbadass says:

Well I probably would not send some total freak show to pretend that said dipshit might represent me or my opinion. After that I might ask myself some pretty serious questions about why my neighbor might feel the need to hurl missiles at my home…

  257. EugeneDebs says:

    csuka Says:

Just curious. Are you talking about the Israelis or the Palestinians? Or do ONLY the deaths of the Isrealis count and the Palestinians WOULDNT feel the same way. Yeah. What if all the peace talking spends 40 YEARS of one side refusing to follow international law and continuing to STEAL YOUR LAND and OPPRESS YOUR PEOPLE? People need more than safety they need dignity as much as air and water. Until Israel is willing to give some justice to the Palestinians as long as they continue to attack THEIR civilians. I am afraid the Palestinians will continue their vile terrorism against them. Both sides have to grow up and do what is necessary to bring peace. Israel has to cough up the land they have been illegally building settlements on. The Palestinians have to stop the vile practice of making war on civilians women and children. The whole situation is one big tragedy

  258. Robt says:

And I think scab untrained plumbers should be giving his undiciplined untrained niave opinions to himself and his close pals (like McCain, Hannity and Palin.

Joe, you weren’t neither old enough or born that you could watch news of WWI or WWII. As far as all “those people” with “all their” views.

Wecolme to the human race. You view doesn’t make it right nor the best opinion. Matter of fact it is a inexperienced one as well as uneducated.

Go back to schilling for republicans. They like to put you up as long as they think they can use you to connect with people like me.

Joe, you need a date with Ann Coulter.

  259. csuka says:

Well, I might not be exact in what I know but last time I checked Israel did give land back. From what I read it was land the Palestinians were so eager to get back ( I am talking about the terrorists here ). What happened. The land was given back and still the missiles keep being fired. I agree with you that they both have to grow up. But, when you give and still get attacked what are you supposed to do Israel has only so much territory, they can’t give it all away.

Also, it is not Israels’ fault that the terrorists hide behind the civilians in Palestine. I do not believe that Israel purposely fires upon and kills civilians. Every conflict has civilian casualties, which is very unfortunte.

I would much prefer that conflicts would be resolved in a much more civilized way.

Human nature is not that way though.

Anywhere you look, even a simple look these days can cause a fight. People all over the world are stressed for whatever reason and will use any excuse to start a fight.

  260. moaksey says:

Hahaha… What a moron. I think media should be aboloished from reporting on morons… and the economy… If we didn’t know about the recession then it wouldn’t exist! I mean, the media stays away from unicorns, right? And people just leave them alone!

  261. undertoe says:

Lividlib, I think I can answer the question you asked in post 227:

    fmoore Says:
“Joe the plumber is a decent hard working American that never sought notariety…”

    “Notariety”?
What the hell is that, moron?

…I believe “Notariety” is the state of being a Notary Public…

  262. mfpdx says:

Astounding! Truly baffling how some guy who hasn’t even got the license for the job he SAID he did (BTW Joe, hae you paid those taxes yet???), could, just because the GOP USED HIM, get a journalists job reporting on the war, LMAO! Never seen anything more ludicrous in my life.

This guy can barely string a sentence together, didn’t even know that Obama’s cuts would include him (not something one had to be brilliant to figure out, after all), sounds nearly as ignorant as Palin (OK fine, JUST AS IGNORANT!) and yet he has totally cashed in on his attempt to demonize Obama!

McCain and Palin: I hope your happy. NEITHER of you could get anywhere and yet this ignorant nothing is making big bucks and on his way to fame, AGAIN, LMAO! This is like a bad fantasy. Jokes on you two!

Hey Joe, hope you don’t accidentally get yourself blown up! After all, you have NO training and EVEN LESS business being anywhere near a war zone.

And BTW, “I” could answer 4x more questions about BOTH the war and politics than you ever could.

    Who said lifes fair…….OR LOGICAL?!

  263. logsplitter says:

After reading a few of the first comments posted here, I now understand how Barack Obama won the election. Calling people names, wishing them ill and dismissing them because they don’t say what you believe shows you don’t have any intelligent rebuke for their opinions. In WWI, the saying was “loose lips sinks ships”; that’s what Samuel “Joe” Wurzelbacher sees our media doing. He sees them as exposing our military men and women to further harm. Our media does not give positive reports on our military; they only give negative. They do not give them credit for the sacrifices they have made for all of us or the battles they have won. Have we been attacked here on the homeland since 9-11? Have YOU appreciated the fact that we have been safe; free to write the way you do; free to bash our President with obscenties that in Iraq would have had your head removed (actually it would take alot less than what has been said). Maybe someday you will appreciate Mr. Wurzelbacher’s first question to Mr. Obama. Maybe when Mr. Obama “spreads the wealth” and you have given 50% (or %70 as it was before President Reagan lowered the income tax rate) of your earnings to the government to spend how they see fit, as Mr. Obama wants to do, instead of you using it to provide for your own family, you will understand where Mr. Wurzelbacher is coming from, and you’ll understand his concerns. The trillion dollar ($1,000,000,000,000) “stimulus” plus the bailouts will have to be paid back; it will be the younger generation’s bill. Our fear is that Mr. Obama’s government spending will NOT help our Country; his ideas have put fear into the hearts of hard working Americans, who are the backbone of this Country, NOT the government! Our Congress has put less concern toward Mr. Geithner’s (Treasury Secretary appointment) $34,000.00 income tax debt than the disgust by the media of Mr. Wurzelbacher’s $1200.00 income tax debt. Mr. Wurzelbacher is just an ordinary citizen who asked a politician an important question, and Mr. Obama’s answer should have been the subject of conversation, NOT MR. WURZELBACHER! Another minus for our media, who should have done more questioning of Mr. Obama instead of so much campaigning for him.
