Joe the Plumber plunges deeper: ‘Military should decide what information to give the media.’

Continuing his reporting from Israel, Joe “the Plumber” Wurzelbacher tried to clarify his remarks criticizing media coverage of war, in a new Pajamas TV segment. He said that citizens “don’t need to see what’s happening every day” in war and said that it should be up to the military to decide what the media learns about war:joeplumber-israel1.jpg

WURZELBACHER: you don’t need to see what’s happening every day, that’s my personal opinion, you don’t have to share it. But, you know, okay, you don’t have to see, you know, 800 dead, 801 dead. It’s like they drill that in your head. … They want you to sit there saying there are so many people dying. You know these are large, these are numbers, you know I don’t want to take away from that. Let me, uh, think about how to say that again. Just essentially, they keep drilling it into your head, newscast after newscast after newscast.

I think the military should decide what information to give the media and then the media can release it to the public. I don’t believe they need to be in the front lines with soldiers, I don’t believe they need to, uh, you know, be bothering the military for information or for access to certain areas.

Go to Pajamas TV to see the entire segment. His discussion of the media starts around the 13-minute mark.

  1. Curlew says:

With luck Joe the unlicensed Plumber will step on a land mine while in the terrorist state of Israel and we won’t have to deal with him and his idiocy any longer.

  2. Luis M says:

“You don’t need to see what’s happening every day.”

Yeah. Why trouble the little minds of the voters with scenes of devastation and death? The public shouldn’t concern themselves with such scenes of suffering and pain.

Just like they didn’t show the 9/11 attacks over and over and over, right? Oh, wait… THEY FREAKING DID.

  3. ElBruce says:

Wasn’t he supposed to be going there to give unvarnished reporting free from bias? PJTV basically paid for an expensive plane ticket solely so this guy could wax stupid from the other side of the world instead of from his front yeard.

“Let me uh think about how to say that again.”

There’s some professional reporting, right there. Yep.

  4. ElBruce says:

You know, it would be really funny if the military just told him to shut the hell up.

  5. cd says:

I hope joe the fake plumber stays in the lime light a long time.

After all the longer people think of him as the GOP Mascot the worse it will be for the GOP.

  6. paleolib says:

A week from today he and his nutty winger friends will execute a 180 and immediately declare that the government can’t be trusted and that they must expose all of Obama’s failures.

Ernie Pyle is spinning in his grave.

  7. hussein toasterhead says:

Can we please rename this guy Joe The Fascist? It’ll be a heck of a lot more accurate, since he’s not actually a plumber.

  8. lefty says:

Morono-Fascism is alive and well I see.

Why is it these scumbags never want you to see the entrails on the floor?

  9. the brown acid says:

Why the hell shouldn’t I be able to see what the military is up to? I paid for it with my tax dollars, extracted via threat of violence.

  10. Chris LeJeune says:

Note to Joe: Look up the definition of “Public Affairs Officer”. Every military unit of battalion size or larger has one. It is their job to package the information and present it to the media. You see Joe, in order to propose changes you need to know how things work already.

  11. DRxJ says:

Please explain to me again how Joe the Dumber has become an expert on ANYTHING?
And why we need to heed his advice?

  12. Shayne says:

Sure Joe, and once the military decides what the public should see they’ll run it by you for your approval. We

Am I the only one who believes this guy has a swastika tatoo somewhere on his body? And just how the hell is he still in the news? He was nothing when McCain found him, and now he’s nothing, but with a mic.

Go home, Joe. We care about your thoughts just as much as we care about Palin’s. Not at all.

    PEACE

  14. Shayne says:

We need to hold John McCain responsible for bringing this dirtbag into our lives. He asked Obama one stupid question and McCain turned him into a hero. Somebody has to pay.

  15. Wayne says:

Go to Pajamas TV to see the entire segment.

I would rather beat my head with a hammer, thanks….

  16. hussein toasterhead says:

Does Joe the Fascist think the military PAOs should be suppressing information like this:

Israel Accused of Testing Experimental Weapons in Gaza
Two Norwegian doctors who have just returned from Gaza have accused Israel of testing a new experimental weapon known as Dense Inert Metal Explosives, or DIME. The weapon causes the tissue to be torn from the flesh. Dr. Mads Gilbert said, “We have seen a number of very brutal amputations…without shrapnel injuries, which we strongly suspect must have been caused by the DIME weapons.” Dr. Erik Fosse said, “I have seen and treated a lot of different injuries for the last thirty years in different war zones, and this looks completely different.”

How to save money in the media:

    1) Hire a wannabe.

    2) Hire cheap editors.

    3) Cue the dumdum to say something stupid that will make conservative pundits bite their tongues and Keith Olbermann’s head reenact the Hindenberg.

    4) Repeat for ten days.

It seems that The Daily Show should just wait for these ten days to end, then run a whole damned special on Joe-isms.

Actually, you know, of all the people I want to see rip him a new one, George Stephanopolis ought to be leading the charge. He’s been giving us the names of the loved ones dying overseas every week. You want that information to be censored, Joe? Have a heart, you fraud.

No – he’s always been a citizen of the United Kingdom of Jesusland.

  22. DanCaveman says:

    He just doesn’t get it.

  23. Marie says:

Does he even realize what he is advocating?
Joe, go on home now, you are making yourself a fool.

  24. Art says:

Why does he live in this country?

I’m sure there are other countries out there that have a much stronger control of the media and what they are allowed to report. I’m sure he would be much happier there.

From the 14 points of Fascism:

    6. Controlled Mass Media – Sometimes the media is directly controlled by the government, but in other cases, the media is indirectly controlled by government regulation, or sympathetic media spokespeople and executives. Censorship, especially in war time, is very common.

    Chris LeJeune Says:

Note to Joe: Look up the definition of “Public Affairs Officer”.

Ah, but he’s saying that’s the only information the media should have access to. They’d just copy/paste it into their dispatch and then go hit up the nearest bar.

    IgnoranceIsNotBliss Says:

All wingnuts desire only to tear down everything that America stands for. That’s because they hate freedom. They must be stopped.

  32. Zooey says:

    Fascist much, Joe…?

  33. Purple State says:

Well, at least someone thinks that Joe’s legit.

Oh, wait. She’s a wannabe PJ Media writer too.

    Scratch that.

  34. jjm says:

I am rather sorry to see our two prominent examples of people who believe it pays to be ignorant given so much prominence in the news. Let us hope that the fetishization of ignoramuses is over, at least for the present. It will return when those in power succeed in manipulating us so that only uncriticized concocted images of reality are all we have. Until then, tell this Joe Blow to put a lid on it.

  35. StratRat says:

I agree with #32. The best thing for Joe the Dumber is for us to forget about him. No words, no regards, no pictures. The fact that he still has a TeeVee shelf life tells me urgent attention is needed immediately. And if the MSM continues to inform us on the daily doings of the poverty stricken, uneducated, pathetic facist we can do our part to avoid the topic at all costs.

Your mondern GOP: Joe the Dumber and Sarah the Palin. Such a deal.

  36. Tired of being lied to says:

So who died and made this idiot an expert?

Ol’ Joe is sounding a hell-of-a-lot like the same people that Sarah Palin has spent the larger part of the last two days dragging over the coals.

(And BTW, the practice Joe is advocating is pretty much the same one the old Soviet Union and the current day Russians have been using for the past 90+ years. So he’s really advocating a communist position on how the media should operate. Right on, Comrade! Remember that Sarah and that old Grumpy guy were “palling” around with Joe just a few months back when they were all running for the White House.)

  37. Gregor Samsa says:

It takes conservative gall to accuse political opponents of wanting big government, while at the same time promoting and implementing total information control.

  40. Bobwurst says:

Right Joe, and while we’re at it, Corporations should get to decide what the media says about them too. The people don’t need to know about toxic toys, or poison in the food supply. Just tell us about squirrels that can waterski, dangerous black kids, and missing blonds.

    ___________

If we’re not careful, they’ll be able to have both. With the rise of private military contractors, it’s only a matter of time before the entire war is contracted out to the lowest bidder, with little if any input from government at all.

Information about the war will no longer be a public right, because it will all be proprietary.

    If we’re not careful.

  42. Bobwurst says:

I said it on another thread, but I’m giving “Joe the Plumber” six months before he joins the professional wrestling circuit. He’ll be a big hit. He and Hacksaw Jim Duggan can be a tag team, and fight the evil pointy-headed liberal, and the anti-american reporter who hates the troops.

  43. SP Biloxi says:

Joe is a piece of work. Good luck pimping in the name of journalism [since the book deal tanked] for fame and dough, Joe. Hope it is worth it.

He’d never admitt it to the public.

  56. delafield says:

In the picture above, it looks as though Joe “the skinhead” Plumber is growing a beard. Is he doing that in order to look more intelligent?

  57. wiley says:

I guess if this is the best mouth-piece that faux news can find to spout their anti-democratic and un-American propaganda, then that’s kind of a good thing.

  58. Uncle Fester Lurks says:

Isn’t that what the military has been doing all along? Hey Joe, it’s time for you to STFU, enjoy your 15 seconds of fame and crawl back into the world of mediocrity from which you came from. My God is it possible he remains in the news because the reichwing are serious about a St. Sarah Of Palin/Joe the not real plumber ticket in 2012??

Simple, you can never EVER question the military or civilan/lobbyist hybrid leadership that drives the military, as to do so is to hate “our troops”.

TP, I don’t care what this stupid red neck has to say! Beware that your site is visited by many people outside the US. Giving this imbecil turd a whole space can give the wrong impression to the International community.

Why not report on what Howard Zinn had to say about the Bush administration, etc…

Howard Zinn is an excellent example of what the american people are like.

Flush joe the plumer down the drain!

  79. curious says:

Sure why bother the public with what happens overseas in our name? We don’t need to know. And by all means, what’s all this talk about evaluating the conduct of our military to see they do not commit atrocities, or are not being badly used by the DOD or Pentagon? After all, they represent us. But that doesn’t mean it’s any of our concern what they do. I mean why should they have to account to anyone? Why everyone knows things will be OK. Not to worry.

My Word, each time this uneducated, ill equipped, mental midget opens his mouth he keeps us entertained. He is being laughed at and doesn’t seem to know it. That’s why he was hired. And I bet his bosses are laughing at him. Poor slob.

If we follow this mans logic, we should not have known that they did not get good medical or psychological care, that their food and water were tainted, that they were being electrocuted in the showers from bad wiring. That the hospitals in the US were sometimes sub-standard in their care. That their families were suffering. That the helmets were bad and contributed to massive brain injuries. We should not expect to know when they could not get decent boots replaced and their shoes were sometimes held together with duc tape. And their armored vehicles and body armor were sub standard. And some of the bases in the US were filled with mold and water damaged leaking walls. ETC.

Without reporters we would know nothing. And without reporters we would not know the death totals, even though the figures are under reported. And we would not know about the torture or when our men and women do things they should not. By all means, lets keep out the little reporting we get.

    Moron!!

It is obvious to all that Joe the Plumber was born without the embarrassment gene. He’s to stupid to know when to be embarrassed.

It’s a common affliction of all politicians and pundits.

  84. Fool Zero says:

Well, reality does have a well-known liberal bias. Joe just thinks the military shouldn’t mess up his wingnut friends’ nice, patriotic fantasies with a whole lot of ugly facts.

  85. Razor_Boy says:

Well, this just means that it’s just a matter of time until Obama has a bi-partisan meeting with good ole Joe.
Why not, he seems to be validating every other right winger.
