For the record, the United States has declared only Christian holidays as national holidays.

Maybe the ones where we get days off but not all holidays are "Christian." We have a national holiday which honors Sun Myung Moon. Parent’s Day.

Moon's operatives lie and say its purpose is not for honoring Moon but they pushed it through and Moon brags about how congress didn't know what they were doing when they did his bidding and enacted the law. It was piled into a big bill and signed into law likely with most lawmakers having no clue. But some should have, like Orrin Hatch and Trent Lott. In fact, Moon keeps score as to how well he is doing subduing the world by how many nations he can get to pass the holiday.

Though his organization gives lip service to Jesus Christ, they teach that Jesus was a failure and now serves Moon's dead son in heaven. They teach Jesus could not even enter heaven until Moon married Him to living Korean woman. Not exactly what I would call "Christian." I would say that to call Moon’s organization “Christian” is to mock Christ.

Today there's much more info that documents this was all a set up by Moon's operatives like Robert Grant who Moon calls one of his "three musketeers."

What is the truth behind Parents Day?
Church articles show significant ties to holiday

Could a seemingly innocuous new national holiday for parents somehow be linked to the Rev. Sun Myung Moon, the controversial leader of the Unification Church?

National Parents Day ostensibly honors all mothers and fathers, but Unification Church literature indicates the holiday may hold religious significance for its members, who consider Moon and his wife to be the "True Parents" of humanity and refer to them as "Father" and "Mother".

"I think that Parents Day, in the minds of the members of the Unification Church, is a rather cryptic allusion to 'True Parents,' " said Rick Ross, a Phoenix-based cult expert and consultant and a vocal critic of Moon. “A day that honors the 'True Parents' of this world, and that would be Reverend Moon and Mrs. Moon because they are the 'True Parents'. [...]

Past articles in the church's Unification News, available on the Internet through various Moon-related Web sites, are ripe with references to National Parents Day and "True Parents," with some even citing the "True Parents" as the holiday's founders.

In fact, the way an item found on the "True Parents Organization" Web site puts it, Congress established Parents Day to commemorate a July 28, 1993, address given by Moon's wife, Hak Ja Han Moon, to about 100 congressmen and senators in Washington, D.C. […]

New Mexico state Sen. Mark Boitano, the brother of famed Olympic ice skater Brian Boitano and one of apparently only two other Unification Church members now serving in state government, ran New Mexico's Parents Day activities this year, just as [Mark] Anderson did in Arizona.

Moon in 1997:

Through True Mother we reached the American Congress and the United Nations through True Mother's speaking tour. We also declared True Parents Day to the world. Men and women in the American Congress didn't know what they were doing, but as you know Congress passed the resolution of Parents Day. When True Parents Day is adopted by 185 United Nations member nations, then the world will be truly united. The national messiahs who have been sent out to 185 nations are working hard to have True Parents Day resolutions passed in their mission nations which eventually will be culminated in the United Nations and then world unification will come. Amen. (Amen) (Applause) [Our Responsibility In Becoming Children Of True Parents - Sun Myung Moon February 16, 1997 - Belvedere International Training Center]

Moon in 2000:

Specifically, I propose that True Parents’ Day be established as a day of global celebration. I have already initiated such a day that has been signed into law by the United States Congress. [Interreligious and International Federation For World Peace Founder’s Address - Assembly 2000: Renewing the United Nations and building a Culture of Peace Sun Myung Moon August 18, 2000 - Conference Room 2, United Nations Headquarters, New York]

When Trent Lott went on the floor of the Senate and said we should all support True Parents Day, he actually used the Moon lingo.

TRUE PARENTS DAY (Senate - July 27, 1993) ( page: S9489)

Mr. LOTT. Madam President, I rise today to offer remarks on `True Parents Day,' which will be celebrated officially on July 28, 1993.[...]

The Women's Federation for World Peace will be sponsoring an event in Congress on July 28, calling for a renewal of our social commitment to sustain and strengthen families.

Therefore, I wish to join the Women's Federation for World Peace in celebrating July 28, 1993, as True Parents Day. I also urge my colleagues in the U.S. Senate, and all citizens of our Nation to recognize and support True parents Day and the restoration of God-centered families in our society.

Here's a video of Orrin Hatch introducing Mrs. Messiah Moon at the Dirksen Building in 1993, when they started the process of pulling it off.

Another few years of fighting terrorist aggression in Iraq and we'll be able to claim victory for an Iraqi St. Patrick's Day.

Strictly speaking, the United States has no national holidays since each state designates holidays through the legislative process or by executive order. The United States Congress can legally designate holidays for federal employees and for the District of Columbia.

But where the hell in Iraq do you buy a Christmas tree?

No doubt that Bill O. will tout this as a victory for his side in the "War On Christmas." Unfortunately, by this time next year it won't be safe for the two Christians left in Iraq to celebrate Christmas the Green Zone.

what a package, they have chimpy's democracy and Christmas where Iraqi survivors can hang shoes as tinsel on their Christmas trees.

This whole mf administration thinks our lives are a jolly good laugh. Everything is a f-n joke to this f-ed up rotten administration.

The whole bunch of rotten liars should prepare for their trials instead of making a fool of themselves going around sprinkling fairy dust.

Try to ignore the world's subpoenas you idiotic repugs.

Here in the West the whole concept of Christmas has been commercialized to such an extent it has been reduced to a shopping run to Wal-Mart to spend hard-earned money on gifts that we do not need!
Did you hear what Bush was trying to do in Iraq with the whole "free market utopia" spiel? It was essentially this.

THE IRAQIS HAVE COCA COLA AND SANTA CLAUS, THE TERRORISTS LOSE
