John McCain won’t let Cindy go on ‘Dancing With The Stars.’

cindy-mccain1.jpgJohn McCain’s wife Cindy was recently approached by producers of the TV show “Dancing With The Stars” and asked to go on the show. A source told the New York Post, “Just before Thanksgiving, Cindy McCain started talks with producers to appear as a dancer on the show. She wanted to do it very badly.” But this week, Sen. McCain “put the kibosh on it.” A spokesperson for TV channel ABC, which broadcasts the show, said they would “not comment on casting rumors.”

Get back in the kitchen, woman and quit ogling the pool boy.

  3. dbadass says:

Forgive me as I have never seen it as I choose not to have regular tv. Still I am curious why anyone would give a shit about this and why anyone might watch that show. Do people no longer know how to read?

  4. eve says:

This kind of Entertainment Tonight rumor is not up to the usual standards of TP.

  5. blue state bob says:

So You Think You Can Dance is a much better show, they can actually dance. Yes, I need to get out more : )

  6. unbelievable says:

I have never seen this show, but if Cindy McCain wants to do it (and, not that it matters, but she’s the bread-winner in the family), then why would she let her husband stop her? This isn’t 1709…

This just shows that we need a paradigm shift in American culture where girls are NOT raised to define themselves in terms of a man, so that any man, no matter how much of a raging jerk, will do.

Feminism in America still has a very long way to go…

  7. bonzo 1958 says:

I MIGHT even watch 1 time is she would dance. Might!

I think it would be interesting. No matter her politics, she’s a well dressed lady and standing beside sarah palin as she often did during the campaign, she did show more class than SP.

And besides that, didn’t JM say she should enter some t-shirt contest or some such bull at a biker’s meeting?

  8. 5th Estate says:

And yet during his campaign McCain suggested Cindy should participate in some Biker Rally pole-dancing competition ( or some such).
Since he lost the race, there’s nothing in it for John to have his wife get any publicity–even on her own terms.

  9. unbelievable says:

Guys, the point is that a grown woman in the year 2009 is still being told what to do by her husband. I think that this inequality and medieval mindset is a very big point to make.

The reality is that the healthiest countries see women as equals to men, not as subservient. The U.S. population does not live as well or as long as these nations. Until we elevate the status of women to ‘equals’, then we’re going to have an impossible time fixing our health care system, lowering our homicide rates, and improving our general well-being.

  10. tarazan says:

Wow, we missed a chance to see how ‘Conservatism’ works.

  11. Jess Wonderin says:

Actually I think John was being “kind” . . . it would have been the TV Punk of the Season. Poor Cindy actually believes the “public” cares . . . I’m waiting for them to ask Laura.

  12. Marie says:

    1. Why does she need permission to do something? We all know how he spoke to her when he was angry – so she has to follow his orders.
It’s one thing to decline to do something out of respect for your spouse’s feelings, but this has too much authority attached.
    2. This is the guy who boasted about entering her in some hillbilly contest of scantily clad, often topless, contestants.

  13. Another Joe says:

Funny – he offered her to a bunch of bikers as if she was a cheap whore when he was pandering for votes before the election.

But I can see his point – faux is a lot sleazier than the biker crowd.

  14. Marie says:

In his marriage(s) it’s all about him = John McCain.

  15. robbez_92107 says:

How do you expect him to trust the trollopy c*** with a dancer?

  16. Hoodathunk says:

Don’t worry, John. Joe the Plumber is over in Gaza.

  17. Perry logan says:

    Maybe he’s seen her dance.

  18. fletc3her says:

Why does John McCain hate America?

  19. stewarjt says:

During the campaign, it appeared Cindy would rather be anyplace but campaigning.

After the campaign, she can’t be where she obviously wants to be.

He needs you, Cindy, not the other way around!

  20. Zooey says:

He won’t LET her do something she really wants to do? Wow.

  21. Roket says:

  22. Buckie Boy says:

Cindy, get a job at the local strip club, you’ll make John real proud….

….sorta like a Byker Rally Hot Babe Contest.

  23. Shayne says:

Generally you need to be able to count to 8 to dance. And nobody in her retinue seems qualified to teach her that, not John, Sarah, Joe or her daughter Megan seem qualified.

  24. andban says:

Thank you John… she was embarrassing enough

  25. Aanya says:

I thought “money” talked! When Cindy is financing that white haired, wrinkled old fart, he has a lot of nerve putting any opinion out there, period! His career is the Senate now, and after his decision to use Sarah Palin, he’s lost all credibility! I wouldn’t trust that guy with anything that matters. What a dumb shit!!!!!!!!!!!! I hope the tv Sunday shows are wise enough to realize McCain’s day has come and gone! I’m not interested in any opinion he may ever have again.

  26. tarazan says:

The only dancing the Maverick allows is tap dancing around the issues.

  27. realpatriot says:

How can we miss you Cindy (and Sarah), when you won’t go away…?
If I want to see you or your husband (or Sarah Palin for that matter) I just have to turn on fox..
Besides, republicans can’t dance only squirm…

  28. getplaning says:

Cindy has a habit of banging her instructors, so this is no surprise.

  29. katy says:

i have never watched that show, but i LOVE to watch ballroom dancing…

and watching the dancers, it’s obvious it would take a self-assured, confident, sharing type of man who would NOT find himself jealous and impotent seeing his wife or girlfriend so physically and emotionally interacting with another man…

watching those dancers – GOOD dancers – is a wonder…
    and it’s HOT.

so it’s no wonder, after the rumors and stories about cindy’s boyfriend, that mcOLD would not permit such a public display of her “virtues”…

and, being such a fine model of republican womanhood, it’s not surprising that cindy would acquiesce to her husband’s demands…

    gag.

  30. luv2watch says:

Too bad the “war hero” blocked her. I wanted to see her _its.

  31. Tawdry says:

    Wouldn’t she break a bone?

  32. darter22 says:

“She wanted to do it very badly.”
I bet if she had gotten on the show she would have.

  33. Jackie says:

Cindy might be a rich Lady with a broken down worthless husband but she does have manners.

Cindy should do what ever she wants to and McCain should really be grateful she is still with him. It’s time to put the name calling and hate aside and move on to some prositive thinking.

    _____________________________________________________________

I’m just picturing how the result might be different if Elizabeth Edwards wanted to do the show and John wanted to stop her.

I can’t really use Michelle Obama as an example — as the FLOTUS, there are some genuine security issues to consider (plus, she’s gonna be busy!). But if the Obamas were ordinary citizens, I doubt seriously that Barack would be able to “stop” Michelle from doing anything she set her mind to.

You’re right. This isn’t 1709. If I was a successful career woman with my own vast wealth (as Cindy is), I doubt I would stay with a man who insisted on constraining me to that degree.

…but is was OK with him to offer her for the Sturgis, South Dakota Motorcycle Rally “Miss Buffalo Chip” pageant. … “McCain Offers Wife for Biker Babe Nudie Event” – Pensito Review: Politics and Media. Aug, 5, 2008.

    Ya haffta wondah!!!
