Last night on Fox News, host Sean Hannity sat down with right-wing radio host Rush Limbaugh to discuss Limbaugh’s “general thoughts” of President Obama and his new administration. Limbaugh seemed agitated at the fact that “a lot of people right now just — they’re absorbed in the historical nature of this, first black president and so forth.” “That is wonderful. That’s great,” Limbaugh said. “But I got over that months ago after he won the election.”
Limbaugh kept going with the racial theme throughout much of the interview. “He’s not black…he’s a human being,” he said. And while he claimed that the “drive-by media” only “care that he’s black,” Limbaugh added, “The fact that he’s African-American, his father was black, to me it’s irrelevant.” But Limbaugh later revealed what seems to be the true nature of his feelings on Obama’s race:
LIMBAUGH: We are being told that we have to hope he succeeds, that we have to bend over, grab the ankles, bend over forward, backward, whichever, because his father was black, because this is the first black president.
Watch it:
This isn’t the first time Limbaugh has thought of bending over and/or grabbing ankles to express his opposition to what he seems to perceive as progressive threats to his conservative ideology:
– Limbaugh on support from African-Americans and gays for progressives: “Democrats will bend over, grab the ankles, and say, ‘Have your way with me.’”
– Limbaugh on Alaska Governor Sarah Palin’s (R) so-called “Troopergate” scandal: “This is pure sexism in Alaska on the part of these old boys trying to get rid of Sarah Palin, and she didn’t put up with it, and she didn’t bend over and let them have their way.”
Indeed, it appears Limbaugh is having a tough time here in the opening days of the Obama administration. Not only does he want Obama to fail, he also fears Obama will “make it easier” to hold former President Bush to account for any misdeeds he may have committed in office.
It’s the wrong metaphor for Rush. “Bend over and grab your belt buckle” might be more like it.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:47 pmSomebody really needs to answer Rush’s plaintive cries and give him the rogering he wants. I don’t want to do it because, well, ick. But someone needs to man up (maybe Coulter) and ask Rush to drop trou and grab his ankles.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:47 pmJebus, Rush, this is truly ugly – even for YOU.
STFU, won’t you? You’re making me nauseous.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:48 pmHe’s being told to bend over and grab his ankles by Jeff Gannon.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:49 pmmethinks the lady doth protest too much.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:49 pmPIG.
It’s name calling, but there is no reasoning with this “man.”
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:49 pmI think Ed Christie is confusing Obama’s father with one of his “friends” in the Dominican Republic.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:51 pmJust plain scum of the earth… That blowhole needs a toxic warning from the new EPA…
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:52 pmLovely,
Far-right spewer of family values and x-rated imagery, Rush is a bigot any dope-head biggot can get behind.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:53 pmHe’s got to up the ante on divisiveness because he realizes he is becoming outmoded
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:53 pmRush couldn’t bend over and touch his ankles if his life depended on it.
Wait, so he’s saying everybody else won’t shut up about race? While blathering on endlessly about race? Next thing he’s going to start complaining that the MSM could stand to lose some weight.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:54 pmTHAT KIND OF MENTAL IMAGE I DON’T NEED
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:54 pmDON’T WORRY LIMPY…..ONCE YOU’VE HAD BLACK….YOU WON’T GO BACK
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:54 pmOops . . .should have read “any dope headed big idiot can get behind.”
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:55 pmHe sure likes to talk about bending over and grabbing his ankles, could this be an area of expertise for Limbaugh?
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:55 pmPlain and simple: Rush Limbaugh’s fixation is nothing more than homo-erotic interracial fantasy. Bend over Rush!
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:56 pmWe should not make jokes about his weight, because that’s not a nice thing to do. But we can make jokes about his stupidity and his preference for rogering Dominican underage boys.
Hey, maybe that’s his pickup line! “Hello, Pedrito, I’m Rush. Now bend over and grab your ankles!”
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:56 pmI don’t think anyone HAS to tell to bend over and grab his ankles.
He does it willingly, every time.
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:57 pmLimbaugh kept going with the racial theme throughout much of the interview. “He’s not black…he’s a human being,” he said.
That’s funny, I don’t recall the song he played in his show going: “Barak The Magic Human-Being“
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:58 pmHe tried to make a similar argument about Donovan McNabb as QB. It cost him his job on MNF.
Why is this racist being protected now?
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:58 pmAhhh, Rush… to have a national radio show where you can disguise your homo-erotic fantasies as political commentary… What a country!
January 22nd, 2009 at 12:58 pmIf that’s what he really wants to do, that fine with me.

January 22nd, 2009 at 12:59 pmIf Rush bent over and grabbed his ankles (a physiological impossibility), he’d poop a Bush/Cheney mongrel hooked on pharmaceutical heroin that only Ann Coulter could love.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:01 pmHannity/Limbaugh: Get a Room, Dudes…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:01 pmRush and WHannity are losing their minds. They both sound like a couple of unhinged goofballs. President Obama is going to be the death of them. No need for the fairness doctrine.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:01 pm‘bend over, grab the ankles’
How many times have you said that to the Dominican underage boy prostitutes.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:01 pmCan Limbaugh even bend over?

January 22nd, 2009 at 1:04 pmWhat drugs is he on these days? It sounds to me like he needs some happy pills — STAT.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:04 pmCan we please get this offensive jackass off the air?
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:05 pmI want to see an un-redacted copy of Valerie Plame’s book.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:05 pmHe is a sick guy.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:07 pm“Black” and “bending over” seem to figure in Mr. Limbaugh’s conversations quite a bit.
Should we be looking in his closet, so to speak?
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:07 pmGo, Rush, go!
Give him all the airtime he wants. Let him talk and talk and talk. Let him be the public face of the Republican party.
Because as long as the Limbaughs, Hannitys and Coulters dominate the right side of the dialog, we’ll never have to worry about a Republican majority again.

Well Said…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:10 pmRush is just gonna get richer and richer.
Obama’s gonna be a gold-mine for the Rightards, the best thing since Clenis, and maybe even better.
The mere fact of his BEING (half) Black will, to some extent, inevitably legitimate the slurs that will follow.
As for grabing ankles, I alawys thought Rush’s best chance for true happiness was in state prison…When he was under investigation for his drug buys, I sent him a “Soap-on-a-Rope,” just in case…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:13 pmBend over and grab your ankles eh, Rush? No wonder he’s upset! The jobs only half done.
Rush grabbing his ankles is the last stage before he shoves his head where he lives.
Go ahead Rush. Its ok. We know. We know.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:14 pmI second that post. Limpballs and the rest of the whackjobs in the wingnutocracy are haveing a VERY hard time with this. they are in the process of being marginalized not just by their own retheoric but by the fact that President Obama is following through (so far) on what he said he would do.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:16 pmI find that quite refreshing!
What a disgusting image!!!
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:19 pmBut maybe a great sick ad campaign:
“Bend over Rush!” I can’t finish it, it is making me ill!
I have to give it to Rush, after 8 long year of assiduous comments, he never seem to lose his stupid…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:19 pmLimbaugh and his pal-in-slime, Hannity (and many others, alas) are only puppets, saying exactly what they are told to say. Who is lurking behind them in the shadows? Time to shine a really bright light on ?
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:19 pmThis guy never jumps to conclusions. He “rushes” to them. Or does “rush” refer to a drug reaction? Or is it a nickname for “russian”? If our President’s middle name is so informative of the man’s character, what does Limbaugh’s first name tell us?
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:19 pmstarted back during

January 22nd, 2009 at 1:20 pmI telle him to bend over and grab his ankles because he obviously likes it that way. He is a draft dodging 4Fer, drug addled, gas bag, who chases teenaged hookers in the Domnican Republic while taking his neighbors Viagra. Rush Limpballs is scum like the 22% who supported the fascist W and listen to this pig. Go to hell Rush.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:20 pmLimpballs being interviewed by Little Seanie Insanity = “Dumb and Dumber”.
It is kind of fun to watch these two imbeciles implode and melt down, though.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:21 pm“what does Limbaugh’s first name tell us?”
All about his father…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:21 pm“This is pure sexism in Alaska on the part of these old boys trying to get rid of Sarah Palin, and she didn’t put up with it, and she didn’t bend over and let them have their way.”
That’s an interesting extroardinary claim.
But it does give me an idea for how her local political career could have advanced so rapidly…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:22 pmI wonder why limbaugh talks so much about ‘bending over’. Maybe all his trips to the Dominican Republic taught him a few tricks with the little boys? I wonder how the conservatives view the phrase ‘bending over’. Seems the GOP is more interested in what everybody else is doing rather than their own behavior. Fine for me, not for thee.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:22 pmI think this is the difference between Rush and me. I never wanted Bush to fail as president. I was angry BECAUSE he failed as president.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pmEven Rush’s most hardcore base is going to get a little squeamish if he keeps this up…
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:23 pm51. Please consider who listens to this rancor in the first place. I wouldn’t expect them to become squeamish. Rush knows he is talking to the KKK and knuckle draggers and troglodytes.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:27 pmrush thinks about grabbing his ankles a lot.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:28 pmOl’ rush is obviously mixed up – must be one the hillbilly heroin again.
He is confusing this with the little boys he “visits” Dominican Stag Parties.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:28 pmRush Limbaugh bends over and grabs ankles? Come on, whose ankles could he grab, certainly not his own.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:29 pmOnce again proving that so many right wingers are probable closet cases, he sure has buggery on his mind!
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 pmDear Rush you don’t have to grab your ankles, you can brace yourself against a wall or get on your knees, just don’t try it in a public washroom!
Rush you are so far in the closet you can see clothes. Come out into the light of day.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:30 pmIf conservative principles are the foundation of a strong, prosperous, free society why are we in the mess we’re in?? Since Reagan there has been a majority of Republicans in the White House, Senate and Congress. If they have all the good ideas why are we in such a disaster? I just choke when they go on like everyone except them is wrong.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:31 pmI guess when you’re a hall of fame A-Hole it should be no surprise that the A-Hole consumes about 90% of Rush’s mental map. Rush is just jealous because Bush got 8 years to hold hands, kiss, and grab his ankles with all of those Saudi boys.
The GOPers are just stuck in a soon to be forgotten era. All they have to sell is hate and fear. I expect their ratings will be going down each day of this administration. Keep pushing the hate, pushing the fear, and please keep listening to Karl Rove. You know he’s a *genius*. Pretty soon people will hear someone like Rush spewing and ask, what’s wrong with that guy, and the simple answer will be, “Oh, he’s a Republican”
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:32 pmkasinca Says: “…the KKK and knuckle draggers and troglodytes.”

not sure what i’ll do with that list… ideas welcome.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:34 pmYawn, so do ya’ think the Mets will win the World Series this year?
Come on TP, we could do with a lot less Druggie Dumbaugh stories
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:35 pmNo, Limbaugh wants a black man this time.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:36 pmI have a few observations here.
1. Rush is apparently obsessed with butt-sex. I don’t care what he does sexually in his private life, but I would just as soon he keep his sex life private and discreet, as the rest of us do.
2. Rush accuses the media of being obsessed with Obama’s color. Yes, the fact that Obama is the first man of color to serve as POTUS is historical, and most media have mentioned this. But I have found no media outlet who has pounded the race drum more than Rush himself. Personally, I think we will have achieved something significant in our country when we elect a person of color POTUS and nobody even mentions the skin tone. But that won’t happen until about the third or fourth time.
3. Rush, as he often does, sets up a straw man he can rail against because otherwise he has nothing. Nobody is barring him from criticizing Obama because he’s black. And even if they were, it wouldn’t stop him. Other wingnuts like to play the straw man card AND the victim card (everybody’s picking on me and nobody’s playing fair), too. In fact, Ann Coulter just wrote a book accusing liberals of doing just that, when she’s one of the worst offenders.
Bottom line — Rush, you’re not being told to STFU because Obama is black. You’re being told to STFU because you are an offensive jerk. There’s a difference.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:36 pmJudging by an examination of the Reichwings “character”, one can only surmise that the freaks’ ratings are sinking and sponsors are drying up. Keep the pressure on America. Their desperation is sweet.

January 22nd, 2009 at 1:42 pmRush and his idiot minions are heading for nervous breakdowns. All these years of building the Repug Party blew up before there very eyes. Now they are in the minority and they can’t adjust. They are becoming increasingly paranoid and isolated. Minorites won’t vote Republican, young people are running away from the Repug Party in droves. And many women can’t tolerate old white dudes telling them what to do with their bodies. The Republican Party will go the way of the Whigs.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:43 pmRush hasn’t been able to reach his own ankles for decades now, and quite frankly the visual image of him bending over and showing off his ample backside is rather disturbing.
The more that Limpballs whines about Obama, the more that I like Obama. If Rush is in a tizzy, then Obama must be doing something right.
I think that what Rush and other Obama-haters are most afraid of is that Obama will succeed and prove that the ideology and policies of the right simply do not work. A successful first term for Obama would almost inevitably lead to a second term, and that definitely scares the hell out of Republicans.
Run scared, neocons, because the truth is soon to come out about all the nasty things that were done and overlooked during Bush/Cheney.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:44 pmSigmund Freud said “sometimes a cigar is just a cigar”. Rush is the reason he said “sometimes”.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:44 pmSounds like ‘our friend’(yuck, not) Rush has some unsolved issues he should talk to someone about.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:47 pmI have never, in 56 yrs, heard anyone comment more about bending over and grabbing ankles, then in this article.
Maybe he is asking for something?
Just more unpatriotic garbage out of garbage mouth.
Thought he would have liked bending over and getting it stuff where the sun doesn’t shine.
January 22nd, 2009 at 1:48 pmENOUGH!!!
My Grandmother (On my Mother’s Side) was born in 1908, was ran out of Tulsa, OK during the Tulsa Riots in 1921, and settled in Greenville, NC. Thats where my Mother, my Aunts, And Uncles were all born. My Grandfather was beaten rigt in front of m3 during my annual summer vacation down south from NYC., for telling me that I could be a fireman after seeing a fire truck respond to a fire. Four Rush Limbaugh’s heard him and told him he better never tell me that I can be anything other than what I was, which was a N!g&er. This was in 1972.
1972 was the FIRST year that my Grandmother and Grandfather had the honor and privilege to VOTE. My Mother couldnt vote when she was 18, neither could here siblings. Let’s let that marinate for a second, in the land of the free and the home of the slave, citizens were denied the right to vote. Now I know thats hard to comprehend being a member of a class that never had that right denied to them. We all know the history, so there is no need for me to rewrite it, but this is/was for ALL who REMEMBER those time, to REMEMBER ALL of the people who warked so hard to make us ALL truly free, this is for ALL the martyr’s that did not live to see this day.
Such as my Grandfather Hezekiah, who passed away in 1975. And Mrs. Bettie Pearl, who passed away in 2000,, and my Uncle Marvin who died in 2007. This is for you, and ALL of you who did not live to see what many of us thought we would EVER see.
Thats why it was a joy to be in D.C. with my family, my daughter who turned 18 last year and voted the first time she was able to, and my nephews and neices who cant wait to grow up and vote, my Dad with his Father and two uncles who were Tuskegee Airman, there to celebrate with their Brother who didnt make it but who I’m sure was watching from Arlington National Cemetery. There with my Dad’s Mother who is white, and my Sister and her family who are Samoan, and my Cuban, Italian, German, and Native American family members over three hundred in all. There to say to all of the Rush Limbaughs, “take that”.
Tuseday is what America looks like, and that cold day in hell is here, so when are you mutha effa’s leaving like you promised to do when this day comes, because WE THE PEOPLE dont need you.

January 22nd, 2009 at 1:49 pmRush doesn’t care if Obama fails. He makes $40 million a year. He has a steady flow of cash even if the market goes down every day. He doesn’t have a fixed income, he doesn’t have to worry about sending kids to college, and he doesn’t have to worry about his customers paying their bills so he can pay his bills.
Anybody who isn’t in the same financial situation that he is and thinks another presidential failure is a good thing is an idiot. And anybody who believes that we should be happy that Bush allowed torture and that he shouldn’t be investigated is a traitor to this country.

Well, yeah. Cause if Obama fails to fix the economy and foreign policy and energy policy and education policy and environmental policy, the country is screwed. That doesn’t mean that “hope” is mandatory or even obligatory, it’s just the way it is.
And it certainly doesn’t mean people can’t criticize Obama for his policy proposals or statements or platform positions – I do all the time and so do many others here. Ed Christie and Michael Weiner and Bill O’Reilly and Glenn Beck are more than welcome to propose policy and regulatory alternatives that may work better than the ones Obama is proposing. However, I somehow doubt that any of these talking meatheads have anything productive to add to the discussion – that’s not what gets them ad revenue.

What (R)ush confuses is his political ideology and his (R)acism.
I too, am concerned over the future of America, however I’m not using the color of Obama’s skin or his father’s, for that matter, as the cause of my concern. My concern is about restoring America’s standing in the world community as a leading nation that exemplifies human rights and the Rule of Law.
(R)ush is a scared chickensh!t that refuses to hold elected officials to legal standards and common practices in favor of usurping the Constitution and international treaties entered into by America. Instead, the chickensh!t uses (R)acism as his cover.
(R)ush is a (R)acist…. PERIOD!

I too couldn’t give a rat’s ass what color the President is. President Obama is smart, thoughtful, caring of ALL and seems very aware of the problems facing America. He is by no means the first black man (or woman) to have these characteristics, and he won’t be the last. Obama has risen to the highest post in the land because of determination and hard work and this, I believe, will help impress on all others that determination and hard work from everyone will turn America from what has happened in the last 30 years. Yes, he wouldn’t be able to get there without DETERMINATION and HARD WORK of people like MLK and thousands of others, black or white or brown.
Obama is now President because he was by far the better choice.

____________
No. I put no emphasis on color. It’s you folks that are doing that.
And in terms of oppression, I don’t single out color. Certainly African-Americans are one group that continues to be socially and economically oppressed in this country, the subprime predatory lending scandal, the post-Katrina demographic cleansing of New Orleans, and the countrywide voter suppression efforts over the last three Presidential elections being major recent examples of this. But there are many many other oppressed groups that I care equally about – women, immigrants, religious minorities, the poor, the unemployed and underemployed, and so on.

January 22nd, 2009 at 3:10 pmWhile Limbaugh and Hennedy evaded the draft, Rev. Wright put his life on the line as a US MARINE. As one who payed a price for his citizenship far higher than these electronic sizzlers of hype, Wright earned his right to question the direction in which the country FOR WHICH HE PUT HIS LIFE ON THE LINE is going. Wright’s hyperboles were payed for in risk, Limbaugh and Hennedy had their freedom of speech protected by others and are now using it, not to make constructive MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE, but to make money with empty hyperbolic words of rage.
As an angry old man– heart and soul supporter of Bush in 2000 out of disgust with Clinton– I came to realize by 2003 that I was wrong– DEADLY WRONG. The truth came to me from Gov. insiders devoted to national security *service* careers, not money making careers, like Hennedy and Libaugh. So I became an angry old man at how “my kids” were abused as soldiers in Iraq. I deem every soldier as “my” son/daughter and refuse to accept anything done to them that I would not accept done to my biologic children. Therefore, these radio chickenhawks who kackle on the radio, exploiting the death and dangers to “my” kids, for personal gain enrage me. Their defense of that criminallly negligent “UN-decider” who let himself be pushed around by Rumsfeld, Cheney and the neocons, also enrages this old man, though I would die for their freedom of speech. Yet, as a refugee from Communism, I found it enlightening that Communist Betina Aptheker brought to UC Berkley in 1964 MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE– America’s highest ideal– instead of Red Revolution. WE Conservatives then supported her in her courageous gift to our democracy. Now right-wingers of dubious maleness and mental stability are trying to prove their manhood by sending others to war; they shoot dirty words instead of bullets from the safety of their studios. I came to realize that the only thing that stood these last 8 years between pervert Bush-it and American greatness is the liberal left that never quits its promotion of idealism and of MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE. Bush and his ilk are mediocrities that pretended rage for truth. In the words of EJ Dionne, our nation has been “on a long vacation from complexity” because of a government that was full of Limbaughs and Hennesies. Only through meaningful dialogue can we defeat them and make Americans more responsible instead of a buinch of angry old people like me. We owe it to the kids. So, follow Obama’s example and open all channels to MEANINGFUL DIALOGUE. Only then will these pillars of ignorance be sidelined. Rev. Wright welcomes debate, in contrast to these one-testicled monologuers…. never forget that distinction!

It isn’t uncomfortable, it is utterly trivial! And what I was hoping is that some might take a look at the previous thread and give their view on it. I really respect the insight of many TP posters, but how can there be insight on how hated Rush is at TP?
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:22 pmKeltoi:
The stimulus package is in flux and changing moment to moment. I don’t see much value in ranting about it until it begins to take shape. Lushbo, on the other hand, is a cancer that’s plagued political discourse for two decades. His recent desperate tone makes the cancer appear treatable.
Rest assured, when it comes time for a vote, I will let my Representatives know my thoughts. At this time, however, I don’t see much value in speculation.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:23 pmComments from Limbaugh or any other of the nuts should be treated like trolls. Ignored and then deleted. TP could really help us concentrate on policy issues now, and Rush and his ilk are just “dog droppings.”

I find it curious that so many right wingers are afraid that Bush is going to be held accountable for the crimes which were perpetrated during his administration and BY his administration. None of them that I’ve heard are saying that the allegations aren’t true, just that they shouldn’t be held accountable, all because of the idea that what Bush did “kept us safe”.
I’ll never understand how those people think. Then again, I’m not a criminal.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:25 pmIf Limpballs keeps going in the direction he is now headed, he will be off the air in a month or so because his advertisers will get spooked and pull out of his show. January 22nd, 2009 at 3:31 pmRachel Maddow has the right idea; do not use their name when bringing their verbal attacks. She announced that she will not give them the undeserved attention they seek by identifying them
She did so last night by saying, “A senator from Texas, not Hutchison, blocked senate hearings…” and continued on.
It was perfect! All that need be said every time he or one of his shock-media right wing nuts spew, is, “A middle-aged white male/female with a radio/TV show/book was quoted by a news channel of saying, blah, blah, blah…” The media needs to stop allowing them to use their “brand” by getting their names mentioned; stop giving them an identity and they no longer exist.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:45 pmOne of the things TP is fighting is the Radical Right-Wing Agenda, of which Rush plays a major part. What I hope to get out of threads like this (aside from some great one-liners) is a comaback we can use when one of Rush’s dittoheads tries to use one of Rush’s inane ideas to make a point. Rush is one of the better right-wing liars because he injects just enough truth in to make it hard to completely reject what he says. But, like most right-wing arguments, his are fuled by tapping into people’s emotions rather than their reasoning skills. Before confronting a dittohead, you have to tell him to calm down and think about it for a moment. If he can do that without breathing too heavily in and out of his nose, you might stand a chance of convincing him he’s wrong.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:48 pmRush Limaugh has always been too busy defending his anal cysts to defend the country. The aftershocks of frat boy days require constant vigilance.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:53 pmAnd his “bend over, grab the ankles” image is a perfect one for “family values” Fox, Hannity, etc. They really are disgusting in their hypocrisy.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:53 pmWayne, I agree that we need to fight the Radical Right-Wing agenda, but there are other blogs which bring this to our attention. TP and its parent, has some heavy-hitters on board, and are in a position to help us to stay really on top of policy issues. Compared to what’s going on in this country and the world, the enormous issues to address, I consider Rush and others of his ilk to be nothing but gnats on a horse’s butt. Annoying, but not significant. As far as changing a dittoheads mind, one would have to have a mind to be changed first of all. That appears to be the biggest “problem” with the dittoheads. Limited cognition and intellect.
January 22nd, 2009 at 3:56 pmnow, if baggyballs got that command from an underaged dominican boy, he’d say, “from the waist or on my back”?
January 22nd, 2009 at 4:05 pmAs far as changing a dittoheads mind, one would have to have a mind to be changed first of all. That appears to be the biggest “problem” with the dittoheads. Limited cognition and intellect.
I don’t disagree. As former VP Dan Quayle famously said, “It’s a terrible thing to lose one’s mind, or not to have a mind. How true that is.”
Anyway, the topic is part of their agenda. And while some may find it unfortunate that this thread draws more attention than one concerned with actual policy, that is not TP’s fault. That is our fault, the visitors, for not thinking the policy threads are important enough.
And I am guilty of that, too. The truth is that I do not consider myself qualified enough to speak about certain issues, and I try to limit my involvement with those threads.
All I know is that economics is a science that looks at the past well but which cannto rpedict the future very accurately. Too much of economic theory requires one to imagine one factor changing and everything else staying the same. This doesn’t happen in real life, as everything is interconnected in some way.
Including what conservatives across the country are thinking about the president’s agenda. And if they’re getting their “facts” from people like Rush, then we know the problem may be more severe than it first appears. So it helps to know what he’s telling his listeners, who may also be your neighbors and co-workers. It helps to know that they oppose the president because they believe something false that Rush said.
It sucks having to combat right-wing stupidity and hypocrisy, but I think both are going to get a lot worse over the next four years (and probably the next four after that), and that opposition will only slow down the new president in his efforts to clean up the mess those guys left behind.
January 22nd, 2009 at 4:07 pmLimpdick is so GAY
January 22nd, 2009 at 4:12 pmYou “progressives” need to get a life. All Rush is doing is excercising his constitutional rights as a citizen. If you don’t like what he is saying, turn the radio off and listen to “progressive” radio if it is so great.

January 22nd, 2009 at 4:30 pmFirst of all I am appreciative of the significance of President Obama’s election. He is the first African-American President and that is important and historical.
However I am more overjoyed and thrilled by the fact that there is competent leadership in the White House and now at the State Department. After eight long years of repubs destroying everything they touch the change is so refreshing and inspiring. I look to President Obama to make sound and insightful decisions based on actual facts and what he believes the best course of action is to right the wrongs of the last eight years.
Unfortuately I have taken a minute to listen to that conservative radio host and like the rest of the repubs he uses a lot of words to say absolutely NOTHING.
I might add that the repubs bent over for Bush and look where that got them. Losing the last 2 elections…I say thanks to Bush and Limbaugh for that!!!

I’ll give you an answer I bet you didn’t expect. I’m from New York. I supported and voted for Barack Obama over Hillary Clinton because Sen Clinton lied to us. She asked us to send her back to the Senate in 2006 claiming that she hadn’t given any thought to running for president two years later. So my lack of support for her bid to be president had more to do with my wanting her to stay in NY and represent us. Obviously, that won’t happen now. I tried.
Furthermore, Sen Clinton, IMHO, had still not seen the errors of her ways in voting for the Iraq War Resolution. Nor did she seem all that eager to want to bring an end to the war. And before you bring it up, I do not believe that she will run the State Dept according to her policies. But I do believe that President Obama expressed his support that she would run it according to his policies, and I believe she will.
Race and gender had nothing to do with my decision.

It may surprise you that I did vote for Hillary in the primary but then changed to McCain in the general election. My family is a military family and it is my opinion that Obama does not really understand what he is walking into. He is obviously intelligent, but that is not what I mean. If Hillary would have won the nomination, I would have most likely voted for her. It is also my opinion that we need a military leader. Obama has great leadership qualities, but will it be enough. Our safety is a big thing to risk.
January 23rd, 2009 at 10:28 amI’ve been to the middle east both as a soldier and a civilian. The people that I have met and shared time with have conflicting opinions but one thing was clear, they all hated and feared the government of Iraq. In the Gulf war we (82nd Airborne) were greeted as liberators. Even when we invaded with the ground force, the norm was mass surrendering, not fighting. We should have finished it then and saved the lives of our boy and girls now, but we didn’t. That was a mistake by Bush senior that Bush junior was not going to make.
I’m rambling, but again, thank you for an honest answer. I truly hope that Obama can make decisions that will protect us all, but that is all I have now, hope. At least with Bush I felt safe. How about you?
Rush loves flirting with racism and firing up the racist base of his herd.
I must disclaim that not all of Rush’s sheep are racist, nor are all Republicans racist, in both cases most are not. However, I can pretty much guarantee you that if you find a racist 9 times out of 10 they are likely to be Republican or father right leaning and listen to Rush.
He feeds these people what they hunger for… justification for their hate.
Conversely of course this isn’t a one way street. Admittedly we blacks also have our voices of hate. Rush is like Farrakhan. And he should be admonished and made into a pariah like any other demagogue.
And Hannity is demon possessed.

Maybe Limberger hasn’t been arrested for soliciting yet because, on the radio, no one can see his “wide stance” or whether he’s giving the secret hand signal when he’s talking about bending over. We need to get an undercover cop into the studio. xD
Oh, no, never. Not one rant, anywhere, about Al Franken, Rachel Maddow, Keith Olbermann, public radio…Not at all!
pete, re: post 143
Boy do I wish I hadn’t followed that link. Somebody here mentioned mental floss. That won’t be enough. After reading some of the hateful trash on that site, I need about a dozen showers cuz I feel coated in a slime of the most foul, vile substances, the outer layer of which is shiny yet nauseating–and transparent. Amazing these people can be so smugly, hypocritically, ignorantly certain not only that they are right and the rest of the world–even other Christians (whom they don’t accept as such)– are wrong but they are such good, holy,[self-]righteous people!! I saw one poster mocking another for suggesting compassion in a thread about Obama ending Bush’s torture policies. Um, compassion is largely what that fellow they claim to worship preached, was it not?
@Wayne A. Schneider re: post 183
I don’t trust Hillary, or her husband. She’s an ambitious opportunist. I think she will carry out Obama’s policies rather than her own but only because she knows that if she f***s this up, it’ll hurt her future chance at POTUS.
Also, no, I did not feel safer under W. Just the opposite. He was responsible for spying on citizens, the 100-mile border zone, designated protest areas and other frightening signs of eroding civil liberties and leanings toward a police state. He stirred up worldwide disapproval and hatred against us. Now that the mad-cowboy is gone, the world is letting out a sigh of relief along with us, and al Queda is panicking because their main recruitment tool (such an appropo word for 43) is gone and Obama’s jumping right into the effort to clean up after him. Lord knows, that’s a helluva lot of Elephant poo to get rid of…
January 26th, 2009 at 3:41 amWhy are republicans always prefaced with “right-wing”, “pro-gun” or whatever? Liberals are never labeled as such? Hmmm?
January 26th, 2009 at 4:10 amSimple bias, methinks.
Have you guys seen what Robert Reich the Economic communist said on CNN you can see reverse discrimination towards middle class Americans (http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=opxuUj6vFa4) . I am not sure why people voted for this Neanderthal man. He is a lawyer (liar). All democrats want is for us to pay higher taxes and give the poor a free ride.
January 26th, 2009 at 10:47 amgeorgeorwell, Eric Blair would be sad you are so stupid.
kinetic, knowing it is futile to discuss things sanely with trolls like you the best reply is: Go Cheney yourself.
January 26th, 2009 at 12:45 pmRush seems fixated on this homoerotic imagery. The expression “The lady doth protest too much, methinks” comes to mind!
Rush has used this imagery twice within the past couple of days and once back a few years ago. Why, I ask, does he keep repeating this?
I cannot think of sny self-respecting person who would want to “have his way” with Rush…

February 2nd, 2009 at 12:23 amWhy are his comments being taken so far out of context? I don’t see him in ANY WAY being racist, that is, “hatred or intolerance of another race or other races”. He is simply stating that obama is getting his support by using his race. Minorities saw a black man running for president and nothing else mattered, just the fact that they wanted to see a black man in office. The praise and adulation for obama stemmed NOT from his political accomplishments, but rather for his “grand” ideas (socialism”) and his race. Wow, there’s a minority running for the highest office in the US! Am I racist now for that comment? Is that racist? I couldn’t care less if there was a black man in office, or a mexican, or a chinese person, or . Race does not make who we are. But in this case, race was wrongly used to manipulate voters within the minority groups. How many blogs did were out there saying, “obama wants change…Oh, and he’s BLACK, too”? Seriously. Quit taking Rush Limbaugh’s words out of context just because he gets your panties up in a bunch. Just because he says what pro-abortion anti-freedom liberals (there, georgeorwell!) don’t like apparently means no intelligent debate can exist, just a bunch of mindless off-topic trashing. Thank you, liberals, for proving the point!
February 4th, 2009 at 2:51 amThe Republicans seem hellbent on destroying their party. This country is facing a rough road ahead of it and this party is putting their idealogy ahead of the country. The Democratic Party did not steal or buy this election. The election gave the Democratic party the leadership position for a reason, period! If the Republicans continue to obstruct this president’s efforts, then they may find themselves marginalized even further by the country. (we still are a democracy) At this point in our country’s history, we desperatly need a loyal opposition. Is the Republican Party up to the “Challange”? From what I can see so far they are behaving like a bunch of clowns!
