As ThinkProgress reported earlier today, the right wing has been aggressively launching inaccurate attacks against the House stimulus bill, claiming that progressives want to waste “hundreds of millions on contraceptives.” In reality, the provision would save the country money by increasing access to family planning services for low-income women. However, the AP is now reporting that Obama officials are considering dropping the provision:
House Democrats appear likely to jettison family planning funds for the low-income from an $825 billion economic stimulus bill, officials said late Monday, following an appeal from President Barack Obama at a time the administration is courting Republican critics of the legislation.
The stimulus bill also contains a sizable number of tax cuts aimed at businesses that are meant to court reluctant conservatives into supporting the bill.
scr3w the conservatives! They lost. They caused the problem in the first place. Tell em to sit down and shut up and watch the grown ups fix the stuff they broke. Just like when i had to watch dad fix the window I broke. Was I allowed to kibitz, tell him he was doing it wrong? These repubs are lucky corporal punishment was outlawed…
January 26th, 2009 at 9:32 pmSay it ain’t so, O…bama. Don’t cave and play political games in the name of bipartisanship. People are counting on you, especially the poor.

January 26th, 2009 at 9:45 pmYou’re gonna learn the lesson, Barack. Just a matter of time…
January 26th, 2009 at 9:47 pmSo what if the right wing is aggressively launching inaccurate attacks, the members of Congress should read the bill itself and not read the filtered version of Hannity, O’Reilly and the rest of their ilk, that is what they are paid to do.
January 26th, 2009 at 9:47 pmObama has to remind himself as well as others-he won!

There’s probably no point in posting an intelligent counter to this fool, but…
The gag rule is so contrary to wise planning that it precludes international family-planning groups from providing abortions, counseling or even referring someone to another organization that performs abortions. The rule is so stringent that federal money could not go to a group even if the money was targeted for a different health-care need. This is exactly the kind the head-in-the-sand policy the public is tired of.
But it would appear that dreck supports a head-up-the-butt policy, for sure.

Oh no, I’d much rather my money went for the opulent new $50 million, twelve-seat corporate jet here…
Or perhaps to pay millions upon millions more in welfare and social programs to support unwanted, unplanned pregnancies. Pregnancies that could’ve been prevented with a little counseling and access to contraceptives.
Nah, I’d much rather see my money go to bail out AIG and fund more posh ‘meetings’ in expensive resorts.
What were we thinking?

January 26th, 2009 at 10:16 pm“How you can spend hundreds of millions of dollars on contraceptives how does that stimulate the economy?” House Republican Leader John Boehner, R-Ohio said on Friday after congressional leaders met with Obama at the White House. “You can go through a whole host of issues that have nothing to do with growing jobs in America and helping people keep their jobs.”
Why, by simply spending hundreds of millions of dollars on “faith-based abstinence” which is shown to increase teenage pregnancies, particularly in red states. It gives ‘youth counselors’ a steady income and that creates at least a couple dozen more jobs, like the “Abstinence Clown!”
Money well spent…

Watching them deal with something complicated like our economic crisis is enough to make your head explode.
Boehner’s cute soundbite about contraceptives is, of course, nonsense. The money he’s talking about is for medicaid, which is desperately needed at a time when people are losing their jobs — and, by the way, will help stimulate the economy by paying the doctors, pharmacies and hospitals for the (much increased) care they give, something that is a big problem at a time when states are going broke.

Consumers with responsibilities are more malleable and open to subjugation than those whose situation allow them to be more selective about their circumstances.
Families and people with children cannot easily leave bad corporate jobs or be more discriminating. They are forced to buy over-priced commodities such as insurance, homes, daycare, gas, doctors, clothes, etc.
In short, people with children spend 100X more money than those who either don’t, or wait. Corporations would much rather force the public, otherwise known as “our little ATMs” into family situations in order to ’stimulate’ that spending and dutiful corporate devotion, under the guise of religious earnestness and obligation.

You mean the America that overwhelmingly voted for the Democrat over the Republican to run the country? You mean the America that gave the Democrats an even larger majority in the House of Representatives than they did two years before? You mean the America that gave the Democrats in the Senate a near-filibuster-proof majority, larger than the Republicans ever had in a long time?
Which America do you live in? Central America?
January 26th, 2009 at 10:54 pmThis action is the culture of corruption Republican, Karl Rove, Grover Norquist version of throwing the baby out with the bath water.
Family planning centers are non-political in the sense that low-income Republican, Democratic and Independent women can visit any family planning clinic and receive assistance. Any woman is welcome, in fact, no matter what their income or financial situation.
But you see, this is where the trouble begins for die-hard, monopolistic, totalitarian conservative fools…anything that helps Democrats and Independents, or anyone not one of “their kind,” goes against their “Christian” conservative values.
We saw this warped, un-American, neo-Fascist attitude by Republicans over the past eight years. After Bush and Cheney stole into the White House, and during the time the Republicans controlled Congress, the culture of corruption conservatives’ whole intent was to reward “their kind,” while screwing everyone else. Negating the federal bidding process so the corrupt Republicans could award no-bid contracts to “their kind.” Iraq and Afghanistan reconstruction. Private contract security. Rebuilding the Gulf Coast after Hurricane Katrina. Even the Justice Department felt the brunt of this un-American, neo-Fascist Republican attitude.
But you see, even many moderate Republicans experienced the downside of this crazed Republican attempt to only spread taxpayer money among “their kind,” even as many low-income Republican-leaning women will feel the lash of the Republican leaders slashing family planning center funding. (But then again, many low-income Republican women probably aren’t big Republican campaign donors, so what does the Republican elitist leadership care about them).
Republicans have crossed the line from being just corrupt to being pure evil…which really calls into question their claim of being “Christian.”
January 26th, 2009 at 11:08 pmOne thing is to see how the GOPPers all get on the same page and repeat the party propaganda line over and over and over and over again. It is done so well many honest americans believe it as the truth. Get a few evangelical pastersto repeat the lie in their sermons and its almost in the bible.
The Progressive community as diverse as it is MUST achieve a similar tactic to counter the falshoods spewed about.
January 26th, 2009 at 11:11 pmOh, and one last point worth noting here:
If it wasn’t for the titanically incompetent policies of the right-wing former administration that landed us here, we would’nt need a goddamn $825 billion economic stimulus package to begin with.

Because lying is what they do. You just noticed?
Being outraged about stupid spending gets ratings. If you have to lie about what’s in the spending bill to do that, that’s what you do. Typically, Republican politics with its crazy, impossible factoids and exciting crises is far more dramatic and interesting than boring old Democratic politics, with its facts and science and data and stuff.

January 26th, 2009 at 11:57 pmdrick23,
I flagged a couple of your comments here and there because I find what you say repulsive. Your First Amendment Right of Free Speech means that the government cannot tell you not to say the vile, disgusting things you say, but a private (i.e., non-government) can. Being tolerant does not mean having to tolerate intolerance.
If you were able to find a less vulgar way to make whatever point it is that you are trying to make (for the sake of decorum, I won’t publicly speculate what point that might be), it would be more helpful to use it.
See? I didn’t have to use a single dirty word, nor mention any body parts. Are you able to do likewise?
January 26th, 2009 at 11:57 pmThat looks like the Democratic HOUSE is caving, NOT “the Obama administration”. I believe there is a distinction.
However, the White House may follow suit, in which case I will be pissed at Obama, and sadly not entirely surprised because I suspect he really thinks this ‘bipartisan; notion is a good idea (and I don’t).
January 27th, 2009 at 12:05 amBut it’s still hard to tell with him, it’s only been 6 days and one mustn’t forget there;s no functioning reliable majority in the Senate, Reid/Pelosi are quite inept and this ain’t like Clinton taking over from Bush 41 (tough as that was, this is a FAR worse national situation.)

January 27th, 2009 at 12:28 amObama,
What the heck is going on here? Citi bank confirms the purchase of a $50 million airplane, which by all accounts could pay 666 people $75,000 in 2009, and family planning is going to recieve a big egg $0.
Do you realize that the cost of gas for one round trip in that plane, a cost US tax payers will foot the bill for could prevent cervical cancer, uterine cancer and illegal abortions in thousands of American women and children for the next four decades? Conservative “pro-life” advocates don’t care about women’s lives, they care about the electoral college. It’s a deal with the devil you are considering, it’s exactly the reason you were elected to prevent.
Tax cuts are blackmail. You said that you were going after their offshore accounts. Do it. Let’s see . . . women’s lives . . . defective babies . . . offshore accounts . . . humm . . . what would Jesus do?
Don’t cave.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:31 amDrick seems to have already forgotten the disaster of the last 8 years. He wants to continue controlling the bodies of women the world over. This, however is not the place to best implement that policy. I suggest you try praying silently for a very long time.

January 27th, 2009 at 12:45 amActually contraceptives seem to me to be a fine investment, considering the cost of raising unwanted children these days, let alone the shortages of food and energy across the globe.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:48 amThat bar, of troll intelligence, just keeps getting lower. Here we have one that can’t spell or capitalize trying to sell a premise based on a lie.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:50 amNow I’m worried he might cave in when it comes to Health Care and we end up with a Canadian version instead of the French one.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:51 amLV, I was planning to ignore the troll, but I couldn’t resist that one.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:51 amNot one round trip, one round trip to Dubai would probably only save about a woman and a half . . . but if they kept the plane in operation, considering the costs of pilots, maintenance crews, on flight staff like flight bunnies, brie, champagne, ground crews, jet fuel, taxes, tariffs, lobbyists, politicians and the like, easily, thousands of womens’ and childrens’ lives could be otherwise saved, not to mention tax-payer dollars.
As long as we’re bailing out the banking execs and French plane manufacturers, perhaps the Make a Wish Foundation should get frequent flier miles on the spiffy bailout flier . . . Sully, as extra special guest, you could perform an extra special Potomac landing . . . all of our beneficient legislators have sold tickets to their most favored lobbyists for a private display, while American teens pledged purity and hook up back behind Daddy’s trailor in lawn chairs, since Daddy’s lost his job, his home and his pick up has been reposssessed.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:51 amMaybe the Family Planning clause is a deliberate provocation of the Repugs? They’ll set up a screech, get the concessions (or cave in) they demand, and strut around proudly. Meanwhile, Family Planning and other important items are tucked into another clause.
Well…it *could* be true!
I’m pretty sure President Obama & the Congressional Dems know the Republican psyche.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:01 amI’m not sure, but based upon my experience, it costs about $350,000 to keep a woman with undiagnosed, late stage ovarian cancer alive for about four years in the United States.
If I’m correct, in New Zealand, that same family would be covered by national insurance and wouldn’t become bankrupt.
Having bankrupted her family, the American woman would leave three children with no money for college, no home and a husband so depressed he can’t get out of bed despite a successful career as a home builder because, not only does he have her medical bills to pay, he’s lost his own home and his entire retirement account to the market collapse.
Trickle down economics . . . deregulation . . . it’s sure done wonders for the average Joe.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:10 amShe was misdiagnosed until it was late.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:18 amthat this conversation is even being had in american political discourse is all the evidence we need to conclude that we are, indeed, a nation of 6-year olds, who simply cannot deal with very basic realities (child birth, women’s rights, etc). apparently, even obama cannot deal with them.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:21 amRemember this is a stimulus package. How does ’saving the country money’ stimulate the economy? Does it create jobs? This is just a lame excuse, using the weak economy to force all this left wing socialist crap down the American throat.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:33 amHere I’m trying to be all nice and thoughtful . . . what a waste of your time.
Bottom line, women want health care but can’t afford it. If women could get it readily, women wouldn’t have unplanned pregnancies. Fewer unplanned pregnancies would reduce the need for pre-natal care, post-natal care, emergency procedures, hospital visits, crime, day care, dependency proceedings, child custody proceedings, anyway, a vast number of costs necessitated by unplanned pregnancies.
As a previous poster noted, the costs of family planning are TINY compared to the costs of the lack of family planning. All you Repugs who claim that a sperm is a baby need to get honest. Come to God! Accept your sexuality and leave the rest of alone (and I really mean that . . . keep your paws off my kids).
Honestly, the GOP doesn’t get women’s issues, it’s got leaders like Mark Foley and Ted Haggard to deal with. Rush. Ick. Don’t legislate morality to me.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:40 amFor the LAST TIME, bipartisanship does not mean SURRENDERING to the whiny piss-ant Rethuglicans who would whine and moan over the last .0001% even if they got 99.9999% of what they wanted.
President Obama, I hope you learn that there is no reaching out to these people. They see it as a sign of weakness, and they’ll look to undermine you no matter what. If an ordinary student can get it, you can too…
January 27th, 2009 at 1:41 amWait a second. Caving to the opposition? AKA cooperating. Let’s not forget politics is NOT one sided. We complained relentlessly when the republicans controlled everything, let’s not complain about them just doing what they do (i.e. be afraid of sex, love guns, praise jesus, give big business tax breaks and incentives).
Like it or not, there are many many people who disagree with what we say when it comes to sex etc… Unless it goes against the constitution, there will need to be some cooperation and it won’t make us happy. Anything that is cut out is going to draw a whole lot of complaints… This measure seems to be less “bad” to take out than others.
Caving? Not quite…

“Remember this is a stimulus package. How does ’saving the country money’ stimulate the economy? Does it create jobs? This is just a lame excuse, using the weak economy to force all this left wing socialist crap down the American throat.”
Well Bobaloo, “In Fiscal Year 2008, the U. S. Government spent $412 Billion of your money on interest payments* to the holders of the National Debt” interest on debt is the third largest charge American taxpayers owe and it’s likely to become the first largest charge next year following all of the bailouts. Curbing our debt is the first charge of this new administration . . . if your children and grandchildren don’t understand that now, they will in the next couple of decades when more than half of the money they earn goes to paying off interest on our current debt.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:54 amSnoBird… The GOP has leaders like Ted Haggard? No, he’s not in politics.
As far as family planning and the consequences of not giving it a funding boost: You can say the same thing about nearly anything. Everything has a trail of costing people more, ruining lives etc…
For example:
If funding isn’t given to mass transportation projects you might see the following trickle down: Job creation severely hindered -> Crime rate rises -> Land value falls -> Schools neglected and on and on and on… everything has a large impact to everything else.
I sympathize with your desire to see an increase in funding, but I also understand the need to get this thing pushed through and the only way that’s going to happen is with compromise.
January 27th, 2009 at 1:59 amOh snobird you’re stretching here. Adding in a little money for family planning is not going to make the impact on the national debt as you seem to be implying.
I understand the desire to govern smart and therefore pay for things that will in the long run save money… However, the impact of not boosting family planning money will be small.
If your argument is truly for relieving debt (which I know it isn’t… It seems you probably are more concerned with the right of women to have these options), then the argument doesn’t hold its weight. Your better off arguing the merits of family planning and staying away from how it might impact the national debt (as that’s merely an aside).

January 27th, 2009 at 2:17 amThe corrupt, anti-American Republican strategy is very simple: take federal taxpayer money that is collected from Republicans, Democrats and Independents and try every way possible, legal and illegal, to make certain that that money only gets into the hands of Republicans.
Doesn’t this pretty much sum up what the vile, neo-fascist Republicans have been doing over the past eight years?
No-bid contracts awarded Republican-owned firms. Only loyal, Federalist Society Republicans being considered for jobs at the Justice Department, with “straying” Republican U.S. Attorneys being fired.
The corrupt, un-American Republicans controlled the power of the purse and took full advantage, trying every trick in the book, including tax cuts for the very wealthy, to get more money to Republicans while freezing the cash flow to Democrats and Independents.
This is what President Barack Obama faces…one of the most partisan, anti-American groups of conservative thugs in American history, who literally don’t give a damn for our country.
Their nefarious agenda has not changed with them losing the White House and becoming a minority in Congress. They will try every trick in the book to block Obama’s attempt to spread U.S. taxpayer money more equitably, even if as in the case of blocking funding for family planning centers, a whole lot of low-income Republican women have to suffer. But hey, these low-income Republican women aren’t big campaign contributors, so why would the fat-cat elitists running the Republican Party today give any more of a damn about them than they do for anyone else who isn’t one of “their kind”?
Makes one wonder if any member this current crop of hardcore, right-wing Republicans is Christian, doesn’t it?
January 27th, 2009 at 2:18 amIn 1985, Ted Haggard founded Focus on the Family in Colorado Springs, locally, it grew to more than 17,000 members before his disgrace. However, in addition to it’s local congregation, James Dobson grew the church into a national juggernaut, joining forces with the NRA to support GOP causes. Dobson and Haggard joined forces with Carl Rove to egnite fundamentalist Christians in a “Republican Revolution.” They sold the war in Iraq and just about anything else the Cheney/Rove “think tank”(?) put together. To claim that Haggard wasn’t a GOP operative, and a powerful one at that, belies the truth, he had a constituency of millions on radio, television, through conferences, books, tapes and his congregation in Colorado Springs. The guy was huge and he was a huge, perverted hypocrite.
Focus on the Family, family values, yah dee yah, doing meth while doing a male prostitute, and this week it turns up, doing someone else . . . his poor kids.
We know values . . . we don’t need to get the message from some screeching evangelical or Bill O’Reilly.
My God, Google before you call me wrong.
January 27th, 2009 at 2:25 amchaking,
Thank you for your comments. Although it may seem like my interest is in family planning that isn’t entirely accurate. That focus came forward because it is the topic of this blog and I make an effort to stay on topic.
I firmly believe that the nation’s infrastructure is in need of an overhaul and this is a fine time for that to happen. I believe in the improvement of roads, bridges, technology, dams and levees. Let’s finally fix the Gulf Coast. Infrastructure projects are essential.
However, states get silly and a water park, Disney World, race tracks and casinos are not infrastructure. Let’s be smart. It’s our money after all.
Aside from infrastructure, I see medical research, educational scholarships and environmental protection as worthwhile projects that will yield great dividends down the road.
January 27th, 2009 at 2:34 amObamo you are just a stupid troll without the sense God gave the common garden slug. Go away and let the adults talk. Say isnt that the shortbus honking for ya?
January 27th, 2009 at 4:05 am“Man up and have a kid”
That’s funny. How about man up and be responsible about how you are having sex.
January 27th, 2009 at 4:10 amTax cuts for businesses, that are in trouble because people havent the money to consume, wont help the economy. Tax cuts, trickle down theory, didnt create jobs under Bush and wont create jobs under Obama.
January 27th, 2009 at 4:18 amHow many jobs did the Bush bailout of Wall Street [350 billion so far] create…ZERO.
They laid people off.
January 27th, 2009 at 4:21 amdo you really want our tax dollars going overseas for abortions while we struggle here?
January 27th, 2009 at 4:49 amIt was a SUPER landslide–and that’s not the half of it.
Mark Crispin Miller estimates the Republicans cut Obama’s victory in half through vote suppression, vote challenging, gerrymandering, voter intimidation, voter caging, and the whole panoply of Republican election theft.
What a world of ick:

O added tax cuts to appease the repubs and to try to get their votes. Now this.
Did the dems win a majority in Congress and win the WH or am I mistaken? If O means to spend four years pandering to the right, the dems might as well plan on joining the repubs as a forgotten party.
Third party here we come!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
January 27th, 2009 at 6:17 amContraception is needed because we don’t need more mouths to feed in a jobless economy!
January 27th, 2009 at 7:02 amThis stimulus bill should be clean so in that sense I wholeheartedly agree with removing family planning from this bill and inserting it back in a later bill dealing with other social issues. With the business tax cuts the devil is in the detail. We have to be careful that the legislation doesn’t encourage job cuts so businesses gain tax credits for hiring the employees they just fired. It wouldn’t be the first time such a shell game has been played. On the other hand, I would not oppose business tax cuts targeted to things like green iniatives. It is like I said, the devil is in the details and I have not seen them spelled out yet.
January 27th, 2009 at 7:48 amThere is no special “family planning” part of the stimulus bill. Family planning is part of Medicaid in 26 states. Those states have obtained waivers from the Federal government to include family planning in their Medicaid services. It is a regular part of what those states do. To remove family planning, there would have to be language inserted saying that no part of the Federal money could be used for family planning. But then the states could just use their own money. Better to put language in the bill that prohibits states from providing familey planning with Medicaid funds, thus reversing the waivers. This would only be the right thing to do, as the Republicans won the election, validating their policies. BTW, taking this out won’t get you a single Republican vote.
January 27th, 2009 at 9:26 amI can see the family planning portion having been put in there so the republicans can get all worked up and then we say “ok, we’ll compromise with you by leaving it out”. They get what they want and can’t complain Obama is not listening. He gets his stimulus pkg. Family planning gets put in somewhere else, perhaps in a health care plan and we get what we want. Negotiation tactic, I think.

SnoBird… The GOP has leaders like Ted Haggard? No, he’s not in politics.
He was in on a weekly conference call with Bush for the duration of his Presidency. They were talking about policy. That makes it politics.
There are a lot of these “religious leaders” who blur the line between religion and politics. It starts as soon as they start proclaiming that religious people should be in public positions and that their religious services and symbols should be mandated in public places. It continues to the degree that Republicans give them extra access and consideration of their goals.
Look at Ralph Reed for the most evenhanded example – although he doesn’t preach, he very much straddles the line between being a religious organizer and a political hack.

LauraNo Says:

Actually, I don’t even think that Dems even see it as being a problem. It saves health care costs, because access to preventive women’s health care and prenatal care is the cheapest health dollar out there. I think Dems are just crunching the GDP numbers and putting in what works. The Republicans fruitbat religious concerns (like preferring all women to be sick, poor and subservient) aren’t really on the forefront of their minds.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:11 amAmazing. The minority seems to be successful in killing this, are on tract to kill the labor bill, and have poisoned the TARP with tax cuts for the rich. I’m not sure I can take many more victories for the left like this.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:11 amOf course the notion that the collective we will have a much larger bill to pay down the line when the millions of extra people grow up starving, sick and in poverty, hasn’t occurred to these myopic nitwits, has it?
hes a real democrat afterall – spineless.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:12 amDon’t worry, Obama has a long term plan. You have to give a little candy before they’ll eat the poison. You wussies gotta recognize that the damn conservative/republicans do have power and that it must be dealt with. Quit yer yappin’ and grow a brain. Obama wants nothing more than to quash the Re-pubes permanently. Once that is done he’ll give lots of condoms to the less fortunate.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:27 amI was going to post a comment on this sight but my IQ would have to be lowered by about 100 points to make sense to the teenagers that post here. If you believe that it makes sense to spend millions of dollars overseas on other country’s “healthcare” needs while we are in a steep recession, you are beyond trying to rescue. Boy, the school system in this country has deteriorated more severely than I thought if this sight represents “progress”.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:27 amThe Dems caving to the GOP hissy fit?
Shocked I tell you, just shocked.
January 27th, 2009 at 10:40 amDear President Obama:
YOU WON.
Please remember that.
Thank you.

January 27th, 2009 at 10:40 amLets see Obamas firs week:
1. Emphasized how dire a situation our economy is in, the first stimulus plan didnt work, wants another one, maybe even more. Analysis: This like a kid who touches a hot stove gets burned, and then repeatedly returns touches it again and gets burned each time. Diagnosis: ABNORMAL. Phrase: If you always do,what youve always done, you’ll always get what you’ve always got. Throwing taxpayer money (our childrens and their childrens that is) at a problem will never solve it. Solution: What has always worked in the past: GOVERNMENT GET THE HELL OUT AND LET MARKET FORCES PREVAIL. THOSE WHO CANT SURVIVE WILL LOSE THEIR CUSTOMER BASE AND THOSE THAT DO, WILL GAIN THOSE CUSTOMERS THAT LEFT THE FAILING INSTITUTIONS…works every time. Nobody here is happy with CITIBANK getting a bailout and spending it on what appears to be superficial items, jets, re-decorating etc. In anger, People say “dont pay your CITI credit card bill”…thats a great idea if Government isnt planning on getting involved with them, because they would go bankrupt…however, this sdministration fully plans on pumping more money into them, so NOT paying your credit bill wound ends up beng a self inflicted wound…and it sucks…LEARN FROM THIS AND re-think what the GOVERNMENT (UNCONSTITIONAL) approach to solving this crisis is…you and your kids (and your kids kids) will be better off for it.
January 27th, 2009 at 11:01 am2. Obama is now officially a WAR Criminal (using the same measuring stick we used against BUSHY). 18 INNOCENT civilians killed (including women and children)in an attack in Pakistan on Obamas orders! If Bushy was a war criminal, then so is Obama and he now has the blood on his hands to prove it.
3. With the knowledge we are in a horrendous economic down turn of epic proportions, one of Obamas first Executive Orders was to send money to Europe for amongst other things..abortion dollars. Now call me a critic, but at this point in time during our “DIRE” economic struggles, this IS NOT the time to be sending money out, that we DONT HAVE. Especially for NON-ESSENTIAL “SUPPORT” MONEY to foreign nations. This is pure politics and one could begin to question just how severe our economic crisis ACTUALLY is with actions like this from our Chief Executive. After all why would we EVEN think of funding other nations, when we cant EVEN fund our own nation??? Hmmm.
4. Cabinet appointments. Lets see, we put a law breaker in as Attorney general. A tax cheat in as Head of the US Treasury. A politician in as head of the Intelligence Agency. Need I say more…Im sure their all competent (except those who got caught…oh I forgot…that was all of them!)
5. Controversy. What is it with Obama and controversy. he is the first US president to be plagued with criminal controversies before he was even sworn in…this does not bode well for us, in that he stll has four years to go and already he is mired in the sewage of corruption.
The majority of the American People voted to oust Republican foolishness and stupidity as their ideas have proven toxic to this country. They opted instead for a change to progressive Democratic wisdom. Why, then, would President Obama go against the people who campaigned for him and voted for him to appease a bunch of obstructionists who obstruct in the hopes that it will cause him and the democratic agenda to fail.
January 27th, 2009 at 12:57 pmPresident Obama, we don’t want them anymore – we want progress. Please represent the wishes of the majority and the mandate with which they have charged you!
Bobwurst(worst), commenter #1: Hey Osambo Brownshirt, you brought up the subject of corporal punishment first. . .so what caliber do you want lodged in your spine, 9mm or larger? What was your answer, you little Chicago thug?
January 27th, 2009 at 1:01 pm1) Dems, Reps, all corrupt
January 27th, 2009 at 1:04 pm2) Wall street references-wall street firms gave the most money to democratic candidates
3) Citibank reference-Geithner’s poor management sunk them. He did not pay his taxes properly. I assume he is a Dem as he is Sec. of Treas. now.
4) How does this spending stimulate the economy? Maybe a little but from the comments here it seems many people are more interested in either a handout or an appeasement to a voter base
5)*sigh* Politics as usual, all is right with world
hanshiro – I have a question – you feel spending whatever sum is in a stimulus bill to provide contraception (although I feel this type of spending should be in a separate bill, not one to stimulate the economy) would save money on our future welfare costs to take care of unwanted children. I guess my perspective would be – why should we assume we are to take care of the welfare, childcare costs etc of people who refuse to take responsibility of their sexual choices? I think that the creation of this whole welfare system has only encouraged women to have children they othewise would not have. It does not take an intelligent person to figure out the birds and bees what with all the sex ed in school. We should know that sex causes pregancies – we dont need to counsel people about a fact of life to the tune of billions of dollars. If they choose not to take precautions and do not have a partner to help with the costs, we shouldnt assume to pick up the bill. Am I missing something?
January 27th, 2009 at 2:41 pmI remember riding on the train when I was pregnant, and listening to these young women brag about how the state was paying for the delivery costs of the child, how they are getting a check and apt costs, and how they are lying about not having contact with a father. This is wrong. The father should be located and made to pay, not the taxpayers. Here I was working fulltime, single and paying my own insurance – and my taxes were being used to pay for them.
Just my own little worldview – pay to play has a different meaning to me— you play YOU pay, not me.
The OBA OBA adiministration has to come to grips that the right wing LOST the last election! Period!!!!
January 27th, 2009 at 2:46 pmBoo freekin hoo…
January 27th, 2009 at 3:34 pmAll you Defecrats crack me up! You post like Obama has this long, spectacular track record and only if everyone would bow down and let him have his way, everything would be so much better.
Face it, you elected a man whose sole claim to fame is manipulative politics, and now you’re upset that he’s….doing the same things he did to get to where he was?!?!
LMAO! The only consolation to me for McCain’s defeat is watching this! It’s BETTER than Rush!
February 2nd, 2009 at 4:52 pmLONG LIVE PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA!
Barack Obama is a great president!
Speaking of Barack Obama:
Barack Obama is a racial-minority individual and does not like racism:
And Michelle Obama is a racial-minority individual and does not like racism:
CONSTRUCTIVE WORLDWIDE DISSEMINATION OF INFORMATION RELATING TO SCANDALS:
(I) I do solemnly swear by Almighty God that George W. Bush committed atrocious, racist, hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism which I am not at liberty to mention. Many people know what Bush did. And many people will know what Bush did—even until the end of the world. Bush was absolute evil. Bush is now like a fugitive from justice. Bush is a psychological prisoner. Bush often worries. In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.
(II) It is opined that Bill Clinton committed terrifying, racist, hate crimes during his presidency, and I am not free to say anything further about it. ‘Be sure your sins will find you out’ (Numbers 32:23).
(III) What if basically all racial-minority people would subscribe to the interpretations that George Herbert Walker Bush committed monstrous, racist, hate crimes while he was the President of the United States? It will eventually come out: it is only a matter of time.
(IV) I know it may be hard to believe. However, Ronald Wilson Reagan committed horrible, racist, hate crimes during his presidency.
