This, it is incorrect. None of those programs actually reduced the income and asset requirements of mortgage applicants. Most first-time homeowners are still making their mortgage payments, in fact.

Far more money was involved in “house flipping” and people speculating in real estate like it was the stock market. Do you even remember all the news items just a year ago about how people couldn’t even live in certain areas because the house prices were so high? The vast inflation in housing prices due to speculation is what caused it.

Please stop blaming minority homeowners and laws that disallowed banks from refusing them for being minorities.

The insanity in this statement is legend. Tell me again Bobo, how do banks make money when they give home loans to folks who CANNOT PAY THEM BACK! Does that even make sense to the IQ challenged around here? As I stated before: In 26+ years of banking, I never had a customer come into my office asking for a loan they could not re-pay – NEVER.

So the GOP mindset lives on: The financial meltdown occured because people were ‘forcing’ banks to lend them money – on homes they could not afford. Yeah, that’s it…Geez, we do have a long way to go, don’t we?
