Gingrey Begs Limbaugh For Forgiveness On-Air, Expresses ‘Very Sincere Regret’ For ‘Foot-In-Mouth Disease’

Yesterday, Rep. Phil Gingrey (R-GA), the chairman of the conservative Republican Study Committee, complained to Politico about how Rush Limbaugh and other conservative talkers are able to “stand back and throw bricks” instead of offering “real leadership” in the middle of high-profile public policy battles. Gingrey’s brave remarks got him in hot water.

This morning — because of what he called “high volume of phone calls and correspondence” in response to his comments — Gingrey issued a retraction, declaring his loyalty to hate radio. “I see eye-to-eye with Rush Limbaugh,” he said, later adding that he, Sean Hannity, and Newt Gingrich were “the voices of the conservative movement’s conscience.”

But Gingrey’s mea culpa was not yet complete. Apparently concluding that his criticism of Limbaugh was so off-base that it merited a personal, on-air apology to Limbaugh, Gingrey made a rare guest appearance on Limbaugh’s radio show this afternoon. Addressing the hate radio host as a “conservative giant,” Gingrey apologized for what he termed his “foot-in-mouth disease“:

GINGREY: Rush, thank you so much. I thank you for the opportunity, of course this is not exactly the way to I wanted to come on. … Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. … I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments. … I regret those stupid comments.

LIMBAUGH: Well, look, I appreciate that. … I’m glad that you called.

Gingrey concluded by saying, “[T]he best possible message for this country would be for every single republican to vote against [the economy recover package].” Watch it:

Rep. Gingrey needs to get his facts straight. I somehow doubt Rush Limbaugh is capable of hefting even ONE brick without taxing his heart to the point of cardiac arrest, let alone MULTIPLE bricks.

Speaking of bending over and grabbing your ankles, Phil shows us how it’s done….

  5. Hoodathunk says:

The only reason he could talk on air is there was plenty of room in his mouth. Sort of surprising considering what he was doing. Not so surprising considering who he was doing it to.

  8. Fred says:

Wow, limpballs really is a reflection of the dying conservative movement. RIP.

  9. Tweedster says:

The Republicans are complete idiots. The country NEEDS to have some sort of stimulus package in place SOONER rather than LATER. Obama really needs to throw down the gauntlet and trash these lying, ANTI-American morons.

I think we all saw that coming. Its the same over at Redstate.com. If you even mouth off about on of their major leaders, you become public enemy #1. And if you are an elected official, for some reason Rush has the ability to assure you dont get re-elected. so it was in his political expedience to do that.

    Sad.

  13. katy says:

    ha… see, like i said…

“daddy daddy, PLEASE don’t be angry with me! please, daddy!”

  14. KayInMaine says:

Rush just announced on his show (between 2:15-30pm) that he will be taking some time off and he wanted everyone to know that it wasn’t because he needs to regroup after the DCCC posted a petition on their website and his life is miserable. He wants us to know that he’s going to the ‘left coast’, but will not announce where he’s going….because well….he says he doesn’t want to be mobbed (by the angry masses? LOL). Uh ha. Yeah Rush like you’re so popular!

  15. Fred says:

Church phone banks and war dialers. We have to catch them doing this and take away their tax free status.

  16. Hoodathunk says:

The next time a Repug claims they think for themselves, we can just point to this.

  17. Big Dan says:

I guess this means Gingrey is a terrible congressman. This actually points to something more – the GOP is run by fat, lying, drug addict talk show host. If they get their cue from Drug Limbaugh, the GOP is not conservative. Because Drug Limbaugh isn’t conservative. The only conservative I can think of in the Republican Party is Ron Paul, and they’re always marginalizing him. It’s some racket the GOP and Limbaugh and Hannity and Coulter have – hijack the word “conservative” by calling themselves “conservative”. Definitions don’t mean anything anymore. These people are as far from “conservative” as you can get, the facts say so.

  18. Doc Rock says:

Rush Limbaugh must have the gravitas with mindless Conservatives of that of the earlier character assassin Senator Joseph McCarthy [aka Simple J. Malarkey].

  19. Shayne says:

Hey Gingrey, if you go to Oz maybe the Wizard will give you some Courage.

  20. KayInMaine says:

What’s so funny about the Gingrey/Limbaugh relationship is it’s a good reflection of how the neocons (American Taliban/GOP) have operated over the last 8 years:

    One guy makes the rules
    Everyone follows
When one doesn’t follow and squawks the truth, he or she is pulled aside and tortured & threatened until they do agree

This is why our country got so f**ked up over the last 8 years. It was a Banana Republic.

  21. Big Dan says:

  22. jpopphan says:

    Remember this?

    “Support the president!”

    “Up or down vote!!”

“The president has a right to his appointments.”

What happened to that spirit? Is it only applicable for Republicans?

  23. misshusseinmolly says:

    Did Gingrey kiss Rush’s ring?

  24. raynman says:

Man, if this happened to Rachel Maddow, she’d laugh her butt off…..

  26. nanlichi says:

Gingrey kissed more than the ring. A complete and thorough rim job.

  27. Purple State says:

Guess what, Gingrey? You’re a politician. If you say anything to the media nowadays that criticizes a side of the argument, it will be blown up by their supporters until you apologize. Then the other wing gets to blow up at you for being two-faced.

Stick by your guns, you chicken.

  28. old_hack says:

why is everyone giving that fart lard so much attention? anyone as sick of anarchists as I am?

  29. gummitch says:

I seem to remember an occasion when Rush mentioned this blog and a particular thread on his show and we had 5,000 dittoheads spamming the thread, spewing their hatred and moronic comments. Did he give out Gingrey’s phone number this time?

  30. hanshiro says:

Now that I think about it, the GOP PanderTron™ registered a similar reading a while back:

GINGREY: … “Mainly, I want to express to you and all your listeners my very sincere regret for those comments I made yesterday to Politico. … I clearly ended up putting my foot in my mouth on some of those comments. … I regret those stupid comments.”

Whittington: “My family and I are deeply sorry for all that Vice President Cheney and his family have had to go through this past week, We send our love and respect to them as they deal with situations that are much more serious than what we have had this week.”

This went way beyond fawning, over genuflect, past butt-sniff and redlined into bung-tonguing.

  31. Shayne says:

Hey Phil! Get that man out of your mouth.

  32. StratRat says:

Gingrey concluded by saying, “[T]he best possible message for this country would be for every single republican to vote against [the economy recover package].”

Nero had nothing on these guys. But at least Nero had the talent to play a violin as Rome burned to the ground. Our modern GOP’s only talent seems to be as obstructionists and war mongers. Why does the GOP want to destroy this country – just as a favor to Limbaugh?

  33. PatrioticLiberalChristian says:

In my little fantasy world, politicians would be giving “we, the people” this kind of respect and making every effort to represent, support, and follow us.

But, I’m not a Republican, so I recognize that it is just a fantasy.

  34. lefty says:

The American Rightwing never fails to entertain. Wow. What a giant pu@@y.

  35. Shayne says:

Really, I hope not one Republican votes for package and is succeeds. Then they explain to their constituents how they tried to stifle the economic recovery.

  36. 5th Estate says:

So just what is it that the nes-plus ultra “voice of the conservative movement” represents?
National division, economic meltdown, wars without end, the demolition of the constitution and the rule of law, the further enrichment of the already wealthy at the expense of the majority, theft, deceit and death and suffering by a thousand cuts and/or one ignorant policy decision.

    Super.

    And what have we learned?
That an elected representative is accountable not to his constituents nor even his oath of office, but to a radio-show host.

  37. Mathazar says:

If Gingray had stood by his original statement he would have
    the respect of both parties.

Now he just looks like a wimp, and everyone hates a wimp.

    Gee. I wonder why…..

  40. Bozo The Neoclown says:

proof positive once again the repukeliscum party has no leadership. they’re talking marching orders rfom an entertainer, and a drug addled, impotent one at that!

Will that big blimp be flying over the Super Bowl in Tampa on Sunday night? Limpballs has ballooned up again. Oprah doesn’t have anything over that big fat blimp. Maybe he’s unhappy and just will eat himself into a big ole’ fat heart attack. I’d like to see him on The Biggest Loser, only he would gain weight until he just blew up. What’s the name of that deadly sin where you eat too much? Yea, that’s what he has – gluttony.

  45. shoeless says:

Why is a member of the House of Representitives begging forgiveness from an “entertainer”?

  46. burro says:

“Forgive me Herr Limbaugh, for I have sinned”. These guys are disgusting asswipes.

  47. cwarddc says:

Wow, the Rethuglican Party is in pretty bad shape if they have to bow at the altar of this fat f**k!

    Limpballs/Bible Spice 2012!

  48. curious says:

What a moral coward this man is. Did he kiss his butt too? What must it be like to be so fearful of a bully that you grovel?

  49. shoeless says:

This shows that President Obama was correct.

Does everyone now see what is going on here? There is such a leadership vacuum in the Republican Party that Rush Limbaugh has become the de facto leader of the party! These guys don’t give a crap what John Boehner or Mitch McConnell say, because Boehner and McConnell themselves are taking marching orders from Limbaugh. They will follow their fat idol to the ends of the earth, and is just where he is leading them. I hope all of America is watching this absurd spectacle.

    Entertainer my a$$!

  50. curious says:

On second thought the only thing giant about Rush is is mouth, his ego and his desire to have people who do what this REP. did. Rush will now hold this ass kisser in contempt and rightly so. Rush must be laughing. And this guy did it in public. Now everyone including his colleagues and family know what a spineless jerk he is.

  51. Chocolate Jesus says:

Typical republican…he speaks the truth for once in his life, then his howling, rabid flaghumping vocal minority constituients makes him beg a drug addicted child molesting windbag for forgiveness…

  52. pdennany says:

    Dear Rush:

I apologize. We turds couldn’t float anywhere else but in your sewer

  61. ctcadguy says:

Someone needs to inform this guy that he represents fascist whacko’s.

  62. The Skeptical Cynic says:

Limbaugh has on numerous occasions quite literary poured forth his knowledge with respect to positions involving what seem be sodomite practices. Now with the fawning groveling obeisance to his mentor by Congressman Gingrey like the “butt buddy” of some jail house thug, one has to wonder which one is the “topper” and who is the “bottom” or do they play “switch”? Or would “swish” be the more appropriate verb?

Is it possible that the people of his district GA elected a testosterone deficient eunuch?

He’s such dweeb he doesn’t even rank in the the putz category. He’s a pupik and a kleiner pupik at that.

  63. darter22 says:

  64. Sohbet ODALARI says:

Well!! I won’t believe Gingrey is truly sorry until I see him crying like Jimmy Swaggart…

  65. charlesRN says:

Mr. Flemball has stated he hopes the stimulous will fail. The only good thing that might occur as a result is that Rush’s home would be foreclosed because he would be without a job. THINK POSITIVE!

Only in the U.s. would big fat, pill-poppin’ anus with a grin cause fear in right-wingnuts. Rembember when coultergeist tried to say her rigtwing body guards are a hell of a lot tougher than any liberals body guards. God help them if in slip of the tongue they called fatboy fatboy.
