Unlike Cheney’s energy task force, Biden’s middle-class task force will be transparent.

Since taking office, Vice President Joe Biden has taken several concrete steps to restore transparency to an office that was shrouded in secrecy by Dick Cheney. In the latest move, Biden’s new middle-class task force will provide the public with details of whom he meets with:

Mr. Biden’s team is positioning the vice president to play up his differences with Mr. Cheney. For example, Mr. Biden’s new task force on middle-class families will have a Web site complete with details of all meetings, attendees and policies, in contrast to Mr. Cheney’s energy task force, which he fought to keep secret in court.

In 2001, Cheney refused to disclose his contacts with energy industry executives and lobbyists, taking his case all the way to the Supreme Court. In 2007, the Washington Post reported that Cheney had “held at least 40 meetings with interest groups, most of them from energy-producing industries.”

When will Herr Cheney be indicted for his role in the criminal outing of undercover CIA agent Valerie Plame? When will Herr Cheney be indicted for illegal torturing of prisoners in Iraq, Afghanistan and Gitmo? Just wondering…

    Repugs, pay attention.

  3. Hoodathunk says:

Go, Joe. Nice to see a team at work.

Not beat my own drum but GOJO. A compound used to clean pestiferous and obnoxious things. I like that.

  5. rimhotep says:

Transparency feels like a breath of fresh air sweeping this country after 8 long years of being cloaked in darkness and evil. During Cheney’s first weeks he had that secret “oil meeting” for which transcripts and details have never been made public. We should have known then that we were in for the destruction of this democracy.

Obama has done more to bring this country back to honesty and transparency in one week that Herr Bush and his cadre of criminals did in 8 years.

We can collectively exhale and shout: It’s about time!

  7. Leftside Annie says:

    HURRAH FOR JOE!!!

  8. Leftside Annie says:

Heh. Compare OUR Joe (Biden) with GOP Joe (the Plumber)…

And you have the difference between the Democratic Party and the Republican Party right there.

  9. Leftside Annie says:

Hey, windy – do us all a favor: eat sh*t and die, ok?

windsor, did even your mother like you? Better yet, did you even know who your mother was?

  12. hivanh says:

Beware those who come bearing gifts of transparency. It has become a political ops term for, “We will show you just enough to lull you into complacency so that you won’t try to figure out what we area REALLY doing”. Joe Biden has all the transparency of a brick wall.

It is incredibly sad that we must form a “task-force” to look after middle class America. That we should sink to this, as a nation, is almost impossible to imagine.

  13. Fred says:

windsor, just think how much better off this country would be if cheney had been given a do nothing job that just kept him out of everyone’s hair…..we might even be better off financially, duh?

And on what do you base this lie? Prove it.

  15. Hoodathunk says:

ooooo, a new troll. hivanh, I hope you held out for more than a nicle for each post.

  16. Hoodathunk says:

pardon me, nickle as in 5 cents, which is 4 cents more than you are worth.

HOUSTON – Exxon Mobil Corp. on Friday reported a profit of $45.2 billion for 2008, breaking its own record for a U.S. company, even as its fourth-quarter earnings fell 33 percent from a year ago.

NOW can we stop the tax breaks for Big Oil?????

Hoodathunk: You can’t spell and I have no idea what you are talking about. I wonder if you do…

“Unlike Cheney’s energy task force, Biden’s middle-class task force will be transparent.”

Oh, Cheney’s energy task force seems to only have been transparent to US, the “Liberal Media”, and the rest of the country, not so much.

    Fred: He’s a lawyer!!!!!

Based on that, let’s turn DC upside down and see how many lawyers we can shake out.

  21. jondor says:

Wow, how nice of you to play by the rules VP Biden! We’re so pleased! So, don’t worry about the last Administration and the rule of law, hopefully that will just never happen again and everything will be ok.

    Chump.

  22. Fred says:

    hivanh Says:
    Fred: He’s a lawyer!!!!!

That doesn’t prove that Biden will not run a transparent program…….

If you consider that proof of anything then I can prove a lot of things to you that just are not true. You seem to be kind of naive.

I think you just want to make believe that dems are just like repubs….your fantasy is personal and you can live there if it’s your choice. The rest of us are living in reality.

  23. Hoodathunk says:

That’s right, hivanh, I can’t spell. So just bring it on and I’ll see if my illiterate sponge brain can respond to you.

This seems unreasonable and unfair. The man does the right thing and you wish to condemn him for not continuing the irresponsible behaviors of the people he replaced.

It’s no Joes job to bring bush to justice. I’m sure he will gladly play his part when the time comes.

  25. Hoodathunk says:

Wow. jondor and hivanh. Fresh. Bring it on. If you can.

Come on guys. I have a little time to devote to your little minds. And I am actually saving you from having to deal with the big dogs here.

  28. tokin librul says:

I am at a loss to discover how a public relations campaign masquerading as a “comprehensive committee” on the (wonderously amorphous) “middle class,” or whatever, can be compared with the meetings of Cheney’s energy committee which divided the spoils of Iraq and figured out how to exploit the global energy crisis.

Look, Darleen! Another sparkly thing? Ain’t transparency wonderful?? Pass me somore o’dat pizza and a Bud lite, will ya, hon? American Idol’s comin on…

Jondor and hinaveh, if you can’t take me on, cancel your membership.

    windsor Says:

We all know how stupid you are windy. That has been established. That you are an ignorant punk troll is apparant to anyone who can read. What is astonishing is your lack of self awareness. How can anyone as demonstrably STUPID as you combine both abject stupidity AND condescension in the same post? I mean all your posts are the pathetic droolings of a brain dead moron anyway but the added strutting just makes you pathetic on a whole new level? Does it ever bother you that you will never be able to contribute to the world? That no one in their right minds sees you as anything but pathetic? The decent people shun you? That pity is the only emotion you ever engender? Time to make a choice dude. Right now you are a pathetic ignorant piece of garbage so childish you think annoying people is the best thing you can do. THAT is what you are and if you arent careful it is all you will ever be.

Well, he can always bend over, grab his ankles and let Rush take care of that itch. BOHICA!

  32. Theresa says:

Addendum to 32, the BOHICA is to windsor, NOT Fred (in case it appeared muddled).

  33. stateofthedivision says:

A more appropriate analogy is the Energy reception held at the DNC in Denver. Release the sponsors and names of lobbyists who put on the shindig.
