Bad bank shows Obama can corporafornicate in Bush like fashion. And his promise to waive IRA penalties for people trying to save their homes? Haven't seen it, but I did notice the private equty boondogle for firms buying back debt on the cheap.

The Carlyle Group's David Rubenstein speaks and Obama listens. Will David go three for three from the foul line?

NPR reported on the Bad Bank that will buy up toxic assets. Their aim? To get those toxic vehicles back into investors hands! More commissions.

What if J & J took tainted Tylenol and sold it through discount stores? No one would buy.

Investors shouldn't either.

153.ElBruce Says: I gave you a link regarding what I was talking about. The point I had heard previously was that Daschle was extremely wonky about health care stuff and he knew how to get stuff through the Senate.

Your link said NOTHING about any of that, Idiot. NOTHING. You grabbed the first link you could google and slapped it in a post. Now as my previous post said, the link doesn't say anything of what you claim, yet you keep honking "I gave you a link..."

You're a lying dou(hebag, brucie.

154.ElBruce Says: Oh hanshiro, here’s a link from TNR on Daschle, and a very good one...quack..quack..

What, 35th time's the charm? Your links suck, bruce. I don't care to waste any more time on your 'links' only to find out they don't even include the info you claim.

Your TNR link doesn't even include Daschle's lobbying firm or his activities there. The comments point out that a NYT piece had that stuff that very day that the TNR piece came out!

You should have mentioned his Alston + Bird lobbyist connections to the health care industry, covered in this morning's New York Times.

Can you say "puff piece?" The American Prospect piece doesn't mention how a whore automatically qualifies to know reform. There're mentions of bodies buried, but that works both ways, as Daschle has a few the industry could exhume too.

I love this line:

"But the political dangers are manifold: Patients may not like the current system, but at least they know how it works. Telling them that future health care decisions will be made by a politically insulated board stocked by Congress, appointed to 10-year terms, and akin to a shadowy banking authority they know very little about, well, that’s a hard conversation."

Are you sh¡tting me??? "they know how it works???" Yeah, you get sick, the insurance industry denies your claim, and you lose your house in the bankruptcy paying medical bills.

Then the boogie-man quote about a "shadowy banking authority" when a shadowy insurance authority already pulls this crap, with not even a congressional selection process or oversight. That's 'worse conversation.' Notwithstanding the fact that the insurance and pharma industries that fattened-up Daschle will remain where they've done the most damage: at the center of a spectacularly dysfunctional healthcare system.

Daschle is no reformer.

bruce, I was wrong, you're not an idiot, you're a full-blown, lazy-@ssed moron who googles poor sources to support your neophyte, naive uninformed opinions based on O'Reilly factor teevee.

You're so stupid it hurts.

hanshiro Says:

So you make claims you can’t back up.

I gave you a link regarding what I was talking about.

The point I had heard previously was that Daschle was extremely wonky about health care stuff and he knew how to get stuff through the Senate. If Obama wants universal health care - or even something close, then Daschle's background will be a plus, not a minus; it's not like he would or could go against it.

.

backup Says:

If my kid runs across the street, I try to explain why that’s a bad idea.

If my kid runs across the street, I yell as loudly and sharply as I can, then when they're out of danger make with the calm explanations. There's no time for discussion when there's an onrushing car.

.

stateofthedivision Says:

TP became a sincerely unfriendly place to discuss Obama’s cabinet picks. Daschle is for-profit health care dirty, just like Max Baucus, Evan Bayh, Ron Wyden, and Kent Conrad. Richard Jefferson joined with Rick Santorum to feed off dialysis companies. Pay attention to the details, if healthcare reform ever gets off the ground.

If Obama fails to deliver on health care (and mind you, he never promised universal, but I expect a lot more than we have), I'll be glad to grab a torch and pitchfork along with everybody else. But cabinet picks aren't bills. Criticizing his cabinet pics as if they constituted a policy in and of themselves is only reasonable if you think that all of the government agencies are going to be allowed to wander around creating their own policies without any control from the White House. This is not the case.

Hey I dont like being insulted this way, if I dont like it maybe it bothers THEM when I insult THEM.

seems more like and eye for an eye.

NO because that presumes someone is going to actually lose an eye. No lasting harm is done by giving back the same VERBAL abuse they are dishing out. That is a very important distinction. We may see it different, I dont care, to me it is about rasing awareness. They need to feel the same sting they like to dish out and yet they wont be limping from reading a post.

Over on the today's Wonk Room:

Tom Daschle’s ties to the health industry and his promise to wait a year before working on “particular matters” in which “a former client of mine is a party” may suggest that Obama doesn’t plan to take up health care reform until 2010.

Wow, that's Bush level twisted. Appoint a corporate whore, then blame the waiting period for inaction.

Richard Jefferson joined with Rick Santorum to feed off dialysis companies. Pay attention to the details, if healthcare reform ever gets off the ground.

This:

Hey I dont like being insulted this way, if I dont like it maybe it bothers THEM when I insult THEM.

seems more like and eye for an eye.

If my kid runs across the street, I try to explain why that's a bad idea.

You could make the point that the child is so young they won't understand. Granted. But, are you really suggesting that yelling at someone here is somehow going to help them?

EugeneDebs. You're cool. I've read your posts. I think that some of the power behind what you're trying to say is getting diminished by the verbal retorts, that if you're reasonable, you'd agree that any grade schooler could come up with.

You are more than that, my friend.

Yes I am. I would never SHOOT any of the morons I let loose on. As usual things are more complicated than a look at the surface tells. What is BEST for the really stupid ones? Is it to allow them to continue trolling and insulting us with NO consequences? Perhaps, at least if they have any dignity and decency, when THEY are treated the way they treat US they just might think...Hey I dont like being insulted this way, if I dont like it maybe it bothers THEM when I insult THEM. Raising self awareness is never a bad thing. So I think I am doing them a long term favor. If not then all I can do is try. Tell me if your kid runs across the street without looking do you just let it pass or do you punish them or at least YELL at them? You need to look beyond the simple superficial take on issues. Trust me I do.

139. ElBruce Says: Most of the discussion I saw on Daschle’s fitness in case Obama was going to pass UHC was from over a month ago. At the time I never saw anything claiming...heehaw...heehaw...As such, it’ll take me a while to go back and find those old links...

Hmmm...who does this sound like...somebody familiar when pushed for specifics...

Palin: "I'll try to find ya some and I'll bring them to ya."

So you make claims you can't back up. Idiot.

Aside from the fact that you quoted and linked to an article that quoted and linked to other articles, here’s what threw me off from what you cited:

No, what threw you was your claim that I didn't link to my sources. I did. Idiot.

But my main point is that Cabinet members don’t get to just make up policy.

Not according to the article you linked to, Idiot. Here, read this:

With the expectation that Daschle, a former Senate majority leader, will focus heavily on crafting and pushing legislation, there will be an even greater need for a strong No. 2. HHS is a collection of 11 agencies including the Food and Drug Administration, the National Institutes of Health, the Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Services, and the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention.

Get that? I'll type it slowly: Crafting..legislation. Gee I wonder if his old pharma and in$urance buddie$ will have any $way...?

Here’s an old article pointing out why Daschle is good for that role. Happy now?

I would be, if the article had anything remotely like what you claim. The article says NOTHING about why Daschle is good for that role. NOTHING. The article essentially says HHS will be a challenge and Daschle will need really good deputies. NOTHING about why Daschle is good for that role. Idiot.

bruce, you're a cartoon and a waste of pixels. Idiot.

Its time for the right to learn if they want to take the argument into the mud we can and will meet them and beat them there too.

EugeneDebs. you've got a point. you told me once you were a Christian (correct me if I'm wrong). The best way for me to try to explain is it kind of a wwjd.

I'm agnostic, but I have a hard time thinking of Christ trying to dismiss those that disagree with him, by calling them 'trolls'.

And regardless of whether you believe in Christ or not, most would agree that his persona did a decent job of changing minds.

DynaMORON Says:
Obama’ female staffers made 78% of males’ pay

Women who worked on Obama’s Senate staff last year, however, were themselves paid on average 78 cents for every dollar a man was paid, according to data last year from the Report of the Secretary of the Senate.
>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Got any evidence about the relative positions of those staffers? Do you expect them to pay the copy girl the same as the guy who writes the speeches? WAIT, what am I thinking. You are a MORON. You dont consider these logical considerations you just have an obsessive need to regurgitate what the Limborg TOLD you to think and mindlessly repeat the Uhhboma stupidity. You do know you are a pathetically ignorant piece of garbage dont you? Do you ever just sit down and think WOW I am an incredibly stupid punk? I mean you ARE an incredibly stupid punk. You have yet to do anything other than post abject stupidity and long ago debunked ignorance on this thread. When will you get the self respect to be embarassed for your ignorance?

You are pretty reasonable when we disagree Keltoi. I try to play nice with you. The thing is the rightwing has for so long felt like the exclusive franchise on personal attacks was belonged to them. I think it time we disabused them of this notion.

Have at it, sez I. When John Kerry posts, I just go wow, what a Troll. And I AM a Troll! But Trolls should have standards.

I actually like the Left of the Tooth and Claw. There is no special reason for your team to play nice with those that don't play nice with you.

Though I am not a Christian, I am fairly well versed in their theology. I always wanted to be that heckler in the audience at the Sermon on the Mount who asked, "But Lord, if you turn the other cheek, what if they slap that one, too?"

What I don't like is unprovoked personal attacks. Why can't we Americans disagree without it becoming nasty? Fight fire with fire, sure, that is like Apple Pie, but why throw the first stone?

Holy Crap, there are a pair of Moose in my yard...! That is different....

ProudMORON spews more gibberish that is his trademark. When reading proudmorons posts the stupid always hurts my eyes. What happens to the brains of brainwashed morons like PM? Was there ever any higher brain function evident in their stupid musings? Did they always have the brains of fruitflies? Did listening to the screechmonkeys that do their thinking FOR them just gel their grey cells into unusable sludge resembling tapioca? The real question is how in the world could they be SO proud to be SO stupid?

hanshiro Says:

...and still you don’t back up your sources.

Most of the discussion I saw on Daschle's fitness in case Obama was going to pass UHC was from over a month ago. At the time I never saw anything claiming he was a pharma/insurance ogre... until now. As such, it'll take me a while to go back and find those old links, seeing as how they've been buried by people whining about his old tax returns.

Aside from the fact that you quoted and linked to an article that quoted and linked to other articles, here's what threw me off from what you cited:

Tiabi: But in picking Daschle — who as an adviser to the K Street law firm Alston and Bird

Stoller: The kicker of course, is that [Daschle’s firm] Alston and Bird did work lobbying on immunity for telecoms on FISA...

I'm just asking what his connection to the firm is, and to what degree he can be associated with everything they've done. I don't see how FISA is relevant anyways. But most of the stuff he's being criticized for in your cited article is the sort of thing that anybody who's an expert on health care would be expected to do - advise and give speeches regarding health care details. Either he's an experienced health care wonk, in which case he's probably in intimate contact with various segments of the industry - or he's an outsider, in which case he probably doesn't know how to make the sausage.

It's the same problem Obama had with the intelligence picks - everybody's basically either a criminal or they don't know what's going on.

But my main point is that Cabinet members don't get to just make up policy. Their job is to implement the President's policies. If Obama tells Daschle to push a bill that's bad for Big Pharma, then that's what Daschle is going to have to do. Here's an old article pointing out why Daschle is good for that role. Happy now?

…and still you don’t back up your sources.

Most of the discussion I saw on Daschle’s fitness in case Obama was going to pass UHC was from over a month ago. At the time I never saw anything claiming he was a pharma/insurance ogre… until now. As such, it’ll take me a while to go back and find those old links, seeing as how they’ve been buried by people whining about his old tax returns.
