Yesterday, the ubiquitous Samuel Joseph Wurzelbacher — aka “Joe the Plumber” and “Joe the War Correspondent” — became “Joe the Economist” when he went and spoke to a House GOP breakfast on the economic recovery package. The New York Daily News caught with Wurzelbacher and asked about the meeting:
“It’s not politically incorrect to say you’re Republican or conservative,” Joe said. “They need to dig their heels in and fight for what needs to be done.” [...]
One thing that needs to be done, he said, is killing this stimulus package, because it’s just another example of “American government” — Republicans and Democrats — “kicking our butts left and right.” He also called it welfare.
When asked if he has a career in politics, Wurzelbacher said, “I don’t know if the American public deserve me, but my son definitely deserves my time now.”
Chalk one up for the Repugs. They really know how to bring qualified people into their ranks.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:42 amThanks Joe – for typifying the type of ignorance and arrogance that people the world over have come to associate with “Americans.” I use quotes there Joe, because you really haven’t been living up to your obligations as an Americans – one of which would be paying your taxes. You bald-headed dolt.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:43 amSay Joe, we must have done something right to deserve the endless source of jokes, puns, and laughter you have provided us.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:45 amWurzelbacher said, “I don’t know if the American public deserve me, but my son definitely deserves my time now.”
Golly gee Beaver, what did the little tyke do to warrant that kind of punishment?
February 4th, 2009 at 9:46 amI agree we do not, and did not, deserve you — I said it when John McDummy unleashed this Frankenstein monster during the campaign. GO AWAY!
February 4th, 2009 at 9:47 amWhen asked if he has a career in politics, Joe the Non Entity said, “I don’t know if the American public deserve me, but my son definitely deserves my time now.”
1) Yes, the American public does not deserve you! Today, yesterday, and tomorrow. Please go away. You’ve nothing to offer but right wing talking points given to you by your masters.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:47 am2) Your son deserves you now? What about the last several months during you non stop Non Entity tour? Didn’t he deserve you back then, too? Nice example of a father.
Mucking foron!
Where is the follow up with this guy from the press? How about asking him to define “welfare”? I would be curious to know what he thinks that actually means. Patching the economy to put people back to work is welfare, is it?
February 4th, 2009 at 9:48 amWhy is anyone still paying attention to this moron?
Shame on the MSM for feeding his attention lust rather than reporting the REAL news!
February 4th, 2009 at 9:48 amI know we don’t.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:48 amYou should punish us by not talking to anyone ever again.
That would show us!
We do, Joe. We’ve been very, very bad.

He’s using his son as an excuse to drop out of sight.
I certainly hope so.
February 4th, 2009 at 9:56 amAnyone else think he made a fool of himself at the repub breakfast when he found out he really knew nothing about the economy?
Or maybe the repubs found out he was indeed a fool and told him to scram before he hurt the party any more than he already has?
February 4th, 2009 at 9:59 amHe needs a solvent to release his Super Glued fingers from his chin.
Or maybe he just misses a nice pair of testicles resting there…
February 4th, 2009 at 9:59 amKinda frightening, isn’t it? A guy who is rather clueless and loves to bloviate (must be Rush fan) and the GOP and some in the press fawn over every utterance?
It’s why the vast majority of Americans voted for folks with education, intelligence, experience, competence, honesty, compassion, common sense and a steady demeanor…all the things that the last 8 years were lacking.
For the GOP these days it appears to be symbolism and shallow smarmy comments, etc. Where’s the beef? Americans are coming to realize that the GOP really doesn’t care about the working/middle class…it’s all smoke and mirrors.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:00 amZiiiiiiiinnnnnnng!!!
thanks for that!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:03 amHOOOOOOOOOOOOOOLY COW!!
GIVE A KNOW NOTHING NARCISSIST THE STAGE AND HE’LL DISCREDIT HIMSELF WITH HIS GRANDIOSITY.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:04 amGood lord, the republicans have been reduced to using a campaign prop as and economic advisor. What a hoot!!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:04 amJoe the Idiot had no problem accepting welfare for himself. When it comes to anyone else, well, that’s a different story.
No need to worry, Joe. The American public really doesn’t want you so you can go back to spending time with your son, something that you should be been doing all along instead of running around talking bs and showing the world that you are a fool and a phony.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:05 amok – anyone else see this?
i’ve watched the clip that msnbc shows of this guy’s arrival at that breakfast/meeting…
he walks in, looks through the glass and sees the camera, and his brow furrows a bit… if i could read his mind, it looked like he’s thinking, “jeez, it’s the *#@*^ press… what are they doing here” (AS IF!)…
and he walks through the doorway, into a hall, and speaks with some guy there, and it looks like he’s avoiding the press…
and then he walks past the camera, with a look of annoyance to the camera, says something (i didn’t hear) and then walks into the hall… end clip.
but what i’m seeing is this chump who acts annoyed at the evil media and can’t figure out why they are there, but is an attention whore, going to a meeting he has no business at, and acting surprised at the attention…
just some thoughts… the guy’s an oaf.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:07 am…because it’s just another example of “American government”
The American government is bad?
Why does Joe hate America?
February 4th, 2009 at 10:08 amNo, Joe, we don’t deserve you – and we never will so please just go away.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:08 amProgfin
Good point. The only beef that Republicans are interested in is the meat at the porn shop.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:09 amHe’s right. We don’t deserve him.

I’m finding it hilarious, albeit very sad, that the GOPers have Palin, Joe the WhateverYaNeed, Rush and now Steele as their leaders! Throw in a side of RudyJulieAnnie, a dash of Newt and Mitten’s hair, and I see a recipe for Long Time in the Wilderness.
PEACE
February 4th, 2009 at 10:14 amWurzelbacher said, “I don’t know if the American public deserve me, but my son definitely deserves my time now.”
One thing is for sure is that I certainly didn’t do anything to deserve you.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:15 amJoe is still looking for a free meal ticket, but he doesn’t know how to play the game. Now he hates both Democrats and Republicans, and the government in general.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:16 amI wonder if his former boss will even give him his monkey wrench back.
Is that Joe’s way of saying he’s going to spend more time with his family?
February 4th, 2009 at 10:16 amAww, Joe, don’t be so humble! Why don’t you run for governor of Ohio? Or Arizona?
February 4th, 2009 at 10:19 amThis guy is just a seemingly endless supply of jokes. From the one-time welfare recipient who detests welfare to the guy who says it’s now “not politically correct” to say you’re a conservative or Republican (wonder how THAT happened, Joe… or is it “Sam”?), from the “war correspondent” who says the press shouldn’t be allowed to cover wars to the “economic advisor” who doesn’t know that a tax on incomes above a quarter million won’t affect folks like him who pull in a cool 40k, Joe fills the gap that Sarah ‘Cuda left when she went back to Alaska to take care of the state’s business there.
He’s like the summer replacement sitcom that becomes a hit.
Palin/Wurzelbacher 2012!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:23 amAlaska could use a man of his talents… I’m sure there’s plenty of burst pipes up there by now.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:23 amFrom FORMER veep Shamey: “The choice, he alleged, reflects a naïve mindset among the new team in Washington: “The United States needs to be not so much loved as it needs to be respected.”
If Shamey were right on EITHER count [and if we were not already hated AND "dissed" by much of the international community as a result of BushCo policies], just HOW would having another amoral moron entrenched near the top of the political machine help our situation?
February 4th, 2009 at 10:24 amJeebus!

Why should we expect the “liberal” media to change its horse in the middle of the stream? [Well, that's actually "horse's a**" and "stream of sewage."]
February 4th, 2009 at 10:32 amMy first thought was that it would be extremely entertaining if Sarah Palin ran for prez in 2012, and put this dolt on as VP, except I realized that there enough other dolts in this country that they might actually get elected.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:33 am<>

Can you promise that they’d STAY in the wilderness? I’d help you hunt up the ingredients for that recipe!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:36 amJoe does present a real dilemma for us. What HE deserves is for us to make absolute, complete, non-stop fun of him as if he is nothing more than a caricature. The problem for us is that he is doing all of that by his little lonesome.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:36 amNevar Says:

February 4th, 2009 at 10:40 amYou’re absolutely right, Joe. We DON’T deserve you.
We couldn’t possibly have been bad enough to deserve this kind of punishment.
Please, please, please – go home and shut up. Please.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:41 amJoe the Plumber….Americas “dumbing down of America” expirement has worked.
Is this where the future lies????? Obama was right…we need to improve our eductation system. Period!!!!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:43 amGo away, Joe. You are correct, we don’t deserve you. Bye-bye.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:46 amI can’t think of anything bad enough I’ve done to deserve him representing me in politics!
The guy is a hypocritical idiot. Which I suppose is why he’s the current poster-child for today’s Republican party.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:47 amJoe the Plumber is a fascinating phenomenon. He’s a Chauncey Gardner for the new millennium.
But instead of uttering simplicities that others mistake for wisdom, Joe mistakes his own simplicities for wisdom, and the media play along.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:51 amChance liked to watch, Joe likes to botch.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:55 amHey Not-Joe-and-Not-a-Plumber…. The Republican party NEEDS you and DESERVES you. You are the face of the party, a shining example of the ignorance, reactionary ignorance and moral vacuousness of the GOP. You, along with Sarah Palin, are in the best position to explain conservative polices to America and to show us just how harebrained they really are.
Please, “Joe”, please run for office somewhere. Please keep attending and speaking at conservative conferences and events. Please keep your face and name in the spotlight as long as you can, and please don’t hold back when speaking to the media. Tell us EXACTLY how you feel and why conservatives really should be running the government.
There is no better way to show to America just how empty, bankrupt and shortsighted that conservatives and their philosophy are and how dangerous they are to our nation.
Keep up the “great” work, “Joe”!
February 4th, 2009 at 10:57 amOh PLC. And I had so much respect for you and your posts, but being you’re a Buckeye fan and graduate, I just don’t know now.
Nahh, of course I’m joking. In fact, you’ve pretty much owned the University of Michigan for half a decade now.
Once, when I took triple paced classes during the summer at Ohio Northern University in Ada, we made a road trip to Columbus and had one helluva time at all the bars on Hill Street(?).
February 4th, 2009 at 10:59 amGood times my friend, good times.
No, we are not worthy… Now go away!
February 4th, 2009 at 11:00 amI’d love to trade “smack talk” with you, Dr. Matt and DRxJ, but even though I am a Buckeye fan, I am also a realist. OSU would probably beat any college team – in the regular season, but if it was a bowl game, then, well….

We don’t deserve you, Joe, but the GOOPers do… they deserve to have you shoved down their throats, be beaten over the head w/ you endlessly, and then rodgered raw w/ that shiny, bulbous head of yours until they’re begging for mercy.

February 4th, 2009 at 11:30 amImagine that there is a serious republican character (I know!). Now imagine your asked to attend an AM meeting and Sam Wurzelbacher is the guest speaker.
Waste my time.
All hail the Palin – Wurzelbacher – Limbaugh Axis
February 4th, 2009 at 11:32 amJoe is right! We do not deserve to hear a buffoon like him on the public airwaves.

February 4th, 2009 at 11:33 amIf you were a rethuglican you might look up to Rus, Joe the facke Plummer or that hockey mom too.
February 4th, 2009 at 11:34 amRush not Rus.
February 4th, 2009 at 11:35 amUnderstandably, people on the Left bemoan Joe the Plumber, Sarah the Stupid and Rush “Party Before Country” Limbaugh for getting all the press they do. I say let ‘em get more. The people that like these 3, the Radical Right, are a VERY small segment of America. Let the rest of America see the face of the Republican Party. Do that and there is no way they will win anything . . . ever.
February 4th, 2009 at 11:35 amA Transparently Hypocritical Idiot!

Well, he’s obviously not stranded. But Pajamas media is going out of business. They were paying wingnut bloggers a fixed rate based on pageviews, when it finally turned out they were never making enough in ad revenue to cover it. You know, basically a welfare system.

February 4th, 2009 at 11:40 amYeah, America “deserves” better and that’s why Obama got elected. The Republicans deserve to have spokesmen (and women) like Joe, Coulter, Palin and Limbaugh. With friends like these who needs enemies!?!?!?
February 4th, 2009 at 11:43 amDoes this guy even work? From what I understand, some conservative radio station paid his back taxes. That said, how does this guy feed his family? What does he read anyway to come to such empty and clueless conclusions? Are they gut reactions to his personal facisitic way of life. PJTV, who paid his way to Israel has pulled the plug and no longer exist. Have the conservatives on capital hill set up a fund for the guy, and who bought him that very expensive leather coat he wore? Who funds this guy? He’s right we don’t deserve him, we deserve much better. He claims his son needs him, most likely he does. Pride in your father can only go so far when your father is an international joke! Go home Joe! Do something meaningful with your life, like SHUT UP!
February 4th, 2009 at 11:44 am24% of it does, Joe. The rest just want to punch you, but they’re too out of breath from laughing at you.

February 4th, 2009 at 12:43 pmThe mindless leak freak simply won’t go away. The euthanasiac self-explosives that are supposed to be triggered at 15 minutes failed to go off. We are clearly in 18 minute territory and it persists to suggest that it has something to say that is worth hearing. It is wed to the notion that it actually has some special talent or erudition. I’ll make no excuses for sounding elitist when I suggest that fixing running toilets has nothing to do with fixing of an economy in the toilet.
Please put it out of its misery once and for all.

February 4th, 2009 at 12:53 pmPalin and da Plumber only exist because there is a segment of our society that considers stupidity a virtue.
In contrast, people who are smart, well educated or accomplished are “elites.” This construction serves to excuse those who worship imbecility.
There is something that is spectacularly nauseating about a society that creates Palin and Plumber as heroes of mind numbing idiocy. The sad and most regrettable thing about all of this is that the idolaters are permitted to breed and to pull levers every November.

Why not interview Howard Zinn, Noam Chomsky, Chalmers Johnson and many others about their opinion on US domestic and foreigner policies? It would be a lot more constructive…
‘Joe the imbecile’ is not an important issue.

February 4th, 2009 at 4:39 pmThis chump’s 15 minutes of fame should have ended in Oct. 08.
February 4th, 2009 at 6:02 pmHe worked so hard to become a war correspondent. That wasn’t welfare, it was— I can’t find the word for it. He’s on the buggy, anyhow.
February 4th, 2009 at 6:19 pmI think that Joe has his hot and cold lines reversed and he’s suffering from low pressure. Thus, thoughts and comments just don’t seem come out right, no matter how hard he tries.
He should take McCain up on his statement at the press roast that Joe would be a good plumber to take care of McCain’s 13 houses. It’d keep him out of trouble.
February 4th, 2009 at 6:29 pmI can’t believe it, Joe has finally said something that is intelligent. This stimulus package is nothing but a Washington money grab. Every one of them is only interested in screwing us. I say it’s time Washington sat down at it’s kitchen table and balanced it’s budget. and yes, even on the backs of the poor. It’s time for everyone to pull their own weight. There is a time for easy living in America, that time is when there is plenty. That time is not now.
February 4th, 2009 at 10:18 pmSure Drew its time that we paid TAX DOLLARS in obscene amounts to CEOS since 500grand isnt nearly enough but lets balance the budget on the backs of the poor. You Ebeneezer Scrooge worshiping economic Darwinists are just sad. Still looking to explain why greed and avarice are the highest public calling and screw anyone that needs help. Well YOU need help. Go looking for your soul since you obviously misplaced it somewhere unless it ran screaming to get far away from YOU.
February 5th, 2009 at 1:18 amThat tax cheating, unlicensed plumber is now making a bunch of money advising the GOP. Is this the fresh face that will lift the Republican party? At least he now owns a tie and a $500 leather coat imported from China. I wonder if Todd Palin had it before him as they are about the same size and the same mind.

February 5th, 2009 at 12:24 pmWow Eugenedebs, you are a brilliant witticist. Unless you haven’t noticed, we are broke. It’s time to cut back in Washington. I’m real sorry that we have an underclass that put their faith in the feds. Now they may learn how good a life you can have when you invest in yourself. Seems like you’re the Scrooge. Why do you want your fellow Americans to remain slaves to the federal government? We will be prosperous again and then we can give a hand up. Right now, we are facing economic collapse and a 4 trillion dollar budget is a problem, not a solution.

April 1st, 2009 at 2:17 pmProving once again the statement of John Stuart Mill made in 1866 ” in a letter to Sir John Pakington
“I never meant to say that the Conservatives are generally stupid. I meant to say that stupid people are generally Conservative. I believe that is so obviously and universally admitted a principle that I hardly think any gentleman will deny it “ and joe proves this every time he opens his mouth
