The President of the United States — on the other hand is NOT nor should he be compared to CEOs of conglomerations who think of America as an oligarchy that they own. The President of the United States — on the other hand is a patriotic American concerned about the welfare of ALL US citizens unlike narcissistic CEOs who care only about themselves sans loyalty to their employees or companies. How dare oligopolistic CEOs insert their position — the lowest in society as an equal to the President of the US? — In fact, CEOs of oligopolies can’t even measure up to the guy who robs his local 7-Eleven store. At least gun wielding robbers are not targeting 7-Elevens in particular (— rather out of convenience) while CEOs of oligopolies have gobbled-up everything they could consolidate, destroying our entire capitalistic infrastructure. Why would they believe in competition or a fair playing field when they already own it? And it doesn’t matter how irresponsible they are because they know they’re too big and the government won’t let them fail without destabilizing the market. Middle America needs help from the Stimulus Bill but I don’t want another penny to be given away to these corporate thugs in the banking industry. I’d be more inclined to trust my local 7-Eleven robber with the money.

The problem with recent excessive CEO compensation was that executives receiving federal funds were still rewarded for failure with tens of millions of dollars from their companies.

Isn’t that what government does best? I think the last 8 years are a testament to that.

Americans should be upset with CEO’s and banking leaders who got us into this mess. Obama et al are right to expect more from them all, including some give on pay and perks. For too long they have gotten rewarded too much despite declining revenues, risky investments, off-shoring, job losses, benefit cuts, etc. at the same time that the companies have looked for tax cuts, bailouts and govt. grants. Pay for failure, with huge golden parachutes as ineffective CEO’s go out the door, added insult to injury.

President Bush, like many of his business friends, had little or no accountability. CEO’s and financial leaders need to get real.
