Rush Limbaugh booked as closing speaker at CPAC 2009.

Today, CPAC sent out a “Special Announcement” to supporters reading: “I am pleased to announce that RUSH LIMBAUGH will be the closing speaker at CPAC 2009!” Other invited speakers to the conservative conference, taking place in Washington, D.C. Feb. 26-28, include Lousiana Gov. Bobby Jindal, former Massachusetts governor Mitt Romney, former House Speaker Newt Gingrich, and Alaska Gov. Sarah Palin. (Sen. John McCain has reportedly not been invited.)

Update The Huffington Post's Sam Stein adds, "That Limbaugh would keynote the affair is a telling indication of just how lacking the GOP is for actual elected leadership. The radio host has never been one to claim he is an insider or party leader."
Update U.S. News has a list of more CPAC speakers here.
Update ThinkProgress received an e-mail from CPAC's Joseph Logue, who said that this year will be Limbaugh's first appearance at CPAC. He was invited because "he is an important voice in the conservative movement, and he is someone whom the attendees have requested in the past."

Quick, DC – stock up on little Dominican boys and Oxy!

  2. Hoodathunk says:

Rush? Invited speaker at a conservative gathering? Surely it is a convenience. All the reputable (choke) speakers died? But the conservatives don’t think he speaks for them. Only when they invite him.

  3. Marie says:

I hope they all enjoy pleasuring themselves.

    So close, so close…

(To CPAC, Congrats on embracing the druggie! Please continue to make Rush your Standard Bearer… Lord knows that people LOVE to be alienated and insulted! Keep it up, white middle aged dudes!)

  5. Leftside Annie says:

    What a surprise.

Why don’t they just crown that fat barstid their king and get it over with??

  6. Leftside Annie says:

And Joe the Plumber, etc. can be the Court Jester! YAY!

  7. Mike71654 says:

It is a sad day in America when Rush Limbaugh is setting policy.
The guy is probably one of the dumbest human beings on the planet. We have toask…why does he not debate anyone? Why does he not go out where the opposing opinion can be voiced? The answer…Because if he was in a scenario where he was disputed he knows he would be shown to be a fool.

  8. spencers mom says:

And John McCain wasn’t invited! Why, I just find that hilarious!

With so many power players from the American Taliban filing into one room, doesn’t that sound like a great place to make a detention center?

    Just saying…

    PEACE

  9. liberalinaredstate says:

Of course he’s their keynote speaker! He is the face of the Republican party and like it not, Rush is here and that SOB is not going anywhere anytime soon. Rush is their poster child for fear, racism, over indulgence, hatred, faux christianity. They want their power back and will be working like fat little beavers to regain they’re power. We need to keep more than just a watchful eye on this bunch. Looking back no one paid that much attn to the Christian right and then boom…

  10. NOLIESPLEASE says:

Rush as closing speaker??? If they left thier best for last…it’s going to be Christmas in Washington all year long.

What a buch of fools…will anyone with a brain be speaking??? Oh I forgot….it’s the repugs.

  11. cd says:

SO the old saying is true.

An event isn’t over till the fat drug addict sings.

Every day these morons give us something to laugh at. We really should thank them.

  15. barfly says:

If folks remember, I pointed out that Obama singling out Rush for criticism would only build his stature in the media, and now perhaps the posters who criticized my take on the situation will apologize, for being proved wrong.

  16. tarazan says:

Rush the the Republican Party’s godfather will be the ‘closing speaker’.

Who will be the ‘opening speaker’?

Could it be Joe The Plumber…?!!

  17. kasinca says:

They should book Palin and Joe the Plummmer (fraud name and occupation) and they can have a panel of haters.

  18. kasinca says:

barfly, you are a moron. Limpbone is going to do his deal and so is the lost in the forest GoP.

  19. spencers mom says:

Wonder how much they had to pay that fat fcuk to speak? Cause Rush don’t do anything but little boys and drugs for free!

    PEACE

  20. StratRat says:

This would be funny if it were not true. Joe the Plumber met with GOP staffers yesterday about economic policies. Joe the Plumber giving economic advice – how kool is that?

“I now pronounce you all as Rushpuppetcans”!!!!

If there are some who are still so stupid as to not believe that the “I HOPE HE FAILS” line was not only sanctioned by but supported by the right, here is your proof. This is the official coronation of Rush to the masses.

This is gonna be just like the Rev. Moon thing from some years ago.

From the July 5 (2004) broadcast of The Rush Limbaugh Show:

I’m tired of these Democrats acting like they won the election. Somebody needs to stand up and say, “When you win the election, you pick the nominees. Until then, shut up! Just shut up! Just go away! Bury yourselves in your rat holes and don’t come out until you win an election.

Hey, Rush. We won the election. I’m standing up and telling you to just shut up and to go away.”

  24. LizCoro says:

They didn’t invite McCain because he LOST the election.

  29. Uncle Ho says:

having Blush Limpdick would be appropriate for them, after all, he IS the de facto leader of the Rethuglic party.

BTW- Senator Al Franken is right. He really is a big, fat idiot.

  30. HungryHungryHippo says:

As much as I don’t agree with GOP policies, you would think that one of the party leaders would have taken an into marketing class before. Their party is getting destroyed and what do they do to instill some change and positive PR…invite Palin, Romney, and Limbaugh to speak at their conference. Hmm…

  31. gummitch says:

The radio host has never been one to claim he is an insider or party leader.

Are you kidding? He’s done nothing for years but brag about being an insider. Most recently, he did it in his asinine WSJ editorial, where he called out the president for not being “bipartisan” (i.e. not kissing Limbaugh’s ass and kowtowing to the minority Republicans).

The economic crisis is an opportunity to unify people, if we set aside the politics. The leader of the Democrats and the leader of the Republicans (me, according to Mr. Obama) can get it done. This will have the overwhelming support of the American people. Let’s stop the acrimony. Let’s start solving our problems, together. Why wait one more day?

No matter how often he and the dittoheads chastise liberals for not understanding that he’s “just an entertainer”, he and the “conservatives” believe him to be an intellectual, a political genius, and the leader of them all.

  32. spencers mom says:

Leave it to Rush to bring up the rear!

(Oh, I just can’t help myself! The jokes write themselves!)

  33. MapleStreet says:

After last November, the repubs said they had to reshape themselves. Well it looks like the new shape is bloviated.

Rush for CPAC. The other day, the best the brightest republican minds in Congress were getting their info from Joe the not-a-Plummer-but-I_say-I-Am.

  34. Perry logan says:

I wouldn’t want to have the big guy’s karma.

  35. EugeneDebs says:

Rush is a liar and a propagandist. His only real function is to get his neandrathal base to repeat the idiotic talking points like demented Myna birds. The sad people who depend on him to do their thinking for them need him but for the conservative movement overall to embrace him just shows how little they have to offer that is REAL. Showcasing a self confessed propagandist and American Goebells is desperate and pathetic

  36. Zooey says:

They’re gonna need a backhoe to scoop all the shit Limpy spews.

I notice that their Twice Elected former standard bearer George W. isn’t scheduled to appear either.

    Rush is Great!
He’s gotten under Barry’s skin to the point that it looks like he’s going to have a nervous breakdown. I love it. Barry just can’t take opposing views. He’s really frazzled. He might just cry.

  44. Mathazar says:

Let’s see, in the last election the GOP failed to get the black, hispanic, women, and youth voters. So they respond by
elevating one of the most well known racist, misogynistic,

    hahahahahaha, good luck with that.

  46. belac says:

    ErkelTheUsurper Says:

Oh please, Mister Erkel- Don’t have that mean ol’ Rush antagonize poor lil’ Obama no more! We can’t take that abuse! Your party looks so BIG and STRONG when you cling to your Conservatives… and say stuff like ‘magic negro’… and appoint an AM radio jockey as the de-facto head of your party and with a Moose-Huntin’ Russia Watchin’ sidekick and a Taliban-inspired insurgency!!!!

Why whatever will us poor libs dooooo??

Relent Erkel! Call off el Rushbo! heh heh.

  47. celtic cynic says:

The updated list of invited speakers contains a huge number of white-robed, pointy-hat critters. Washington will be filled with extra hookers, drug dealers, drug users and hard working reporters.

  48. Zooey says:

    They didn’t invite Ann Coulter!?

  49. Hoodathunk says:

Why is everyone complaining? Dims like dolphins and trees and majestic views. Repugs like hookers and young boys and goats.

RUSH LIMBAUGH will be the closing speaker at CPAC 2009!

  64. Jackie says:

RNC Chairman Steele and Republican Economic Adviser Joe the Plummer aren’t invited. Where’s the Maverick John McCain’s invite. Looks like Rush in large and in charge and Sarah’s the entertainment. Will she dance around a pole? Sarah isn’t smart but she knows how to please men.

  65. zerotolerance says:

I would love to hear the speakers for the new Cultural War section of this CPAC.
I can only imagine how they are figuring how to scare middle America again with the new boggy man. I figure they got about 4 more years of banging the gay drum then the majority will be over it.
As much as i hate them i know that as things get more multi-cultural that they have to just be burning up inside.
We must be careful to stay aware, To their advantage they appeal to the simple man. They are masters at being the schoolyard bully, and know the butons to push.

  66. MapleStreet says:

Sung to the tune of “Barack the Magic Negro”:

Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB

Little Georgie Bush loved that rascal Rush,
and brought him cake with chocolate mikes and other fancy stuff. Oh

Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB
Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB

Together they would travel to a mansion made of glass
Georgie kept a lookout perched on Rush’s gigantic @ss,
Neocons and GOoPers would bow whene’er they came,
Southerners would wave their Confederate flags when Rush roared out his name. Oh

Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB
Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB

”The GOP forever!” but not so little boys
When they mature Rush will surely make way for other toys.
One grey night it happened, George Bush came no more
And Rush that gaseous windbag, popped two pills…or three…or four.

Rush now saw his big chance, to lead the GOP,
Racist, bigoted sheeple are all that’s left it seems.
Neither Sarah, Newt, McCain nor even Joe the P.
Could foment hatred as powerful as Rush could, you see, Oh

Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea
And frolics with the local boys after taking GHB
Rush, the gaseous windbag vacations by the sea

If you guys could only see how idiotic you all look – whistling down the primrose path to national destruction. Just hilarious! ;)

“The palpable apprehension is that the anointed is a stranger—a deeply engaging, elegant, brilliant stranger with whom the Democrats had a torrid affair. Having slowly woken up, they see the ring and wonder who exactly they married last night.” CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER, AUGUST 2008

    So are they regretting it?

“I have been reading, with interest, press accounts about the creation of new White House Offices of Health Reform, Urban Affairs Policy, and Energy and Climate Change Policy, and also about the appointment of White House staff to coordinate executive branch efforts on technology and management performance policies. I am concerned about the relationship between these new White House positions and their executive branch counterparts. Too often, I have seen these lines of authority and responsibility become tangled and blurred, sometimes purposely, to shield information and to obscure the decision-making process.”

And I don’t think it’s me. I just don’t get it. And my sinking feeling that the administration plan is to rearrange the deck chairs and hope the iceberg melts just keeps getting stronger.”
    –Paul Krugman, February 24 2009

“Amnesty International is shocked and extremely disappointed by U.S. Secretary Clinton’s comments that human rights will not be a priority in her diplomatic engagement with China.”
    –Amnesty International, Feb 20 2009

“I personally thought President Bush was the worst to hold such a prestigious position as the president of the United States. Looking at President Obama’s stimulus package, now I feel he is the worst presdent in history to conquer the Oval Office. His plan is to tax the working class and give those funds to contractors and developers who really don’t need it.” “Obummer.”
–Dean Nagasako, Hawaii Tribune-Herald, Letter to the Editor, Feb 18 2009

“We need to go down with a message that says, look, it was this kind of protectionism that precipitated the Great Depression. This is a march to insanity.”
–Saskatchewan Premier Brad Wall, January 2009

“He is barking up the wrong tree. It’s possible that at this time there are elements, perhaps in the administration who are harking back to the pre-2000 era.”
–MK Narayanan, India National Security Advisor, February 2009

“It is ironic, the same day that the president is talking about transparency, we were not let in.”
–Ed Henry, CNN, Jan 22 2009

“How is it transparent when it looks like pay to play when the president gives his only interview on inauguration night to a network that’s paid $2 million for the privilege of exclusive coverage of an event… the Neighborhood Ball?”
–Bill Plante, CBS, Jan 22 2009

“How is it transparent when you control the only image of the re-swearing – there’s nobody in there but four print reporters, there’s no stills, there’s no television? And the only recording that comes out, as I understand it, is one that a reporter made, not one that the White House supplied.”

“Asked how he could reconcile a strict ban on lobbyists in his administration with a Deputy Defense Secretary nominee who lobbied for Raytheon, Obama interrupted with a knowing smile on his face. ‘Ahh, see,” he said, ‘I came down here to visit. See this is what happens.’

He revealed that he had already gotten in two work outs since being sworn in Tuesday.”
    –Politico, Jan 22 2009

I doubt that the lunatics are regretting it, but I am quite sure others are. The messiah wins the White House without being vetted and all of a sudden people are questioning him. Kind of late for that, isn’t it?
