At tonight’s White House press conference, NPR’s Mara Liasson asked President Obama what lessons he has learned through the process of negotiating with Republicans over the economic recovery package. Obama explained there’s a lot of people who “sort of want to test the limits of what they can get.”
Reflecting further, Obama reminded the journalists present that the conservatives had originally expressed their approval of Obama’s plan to offer over $300 billion in tax cuts. But over time, they decided not to negotiate in good faith:
They were pleasantly surprised and complimentary about the tax cut that were presented in that framework. Those tax cuts are still in there. I mean, I suppose what I could have done is started off with no tax cuts, knowing that I was going to want some and then let them take credit for all of them. And maybe that’s the lesson I learned.
He added, “People have to break out of some of the ideological rigidity and gridlock that we’ve been carrying around for too long.”
Obama went on rip Republicans who now lecture about the need for fiscal responsibility. “It’s a little hard for me to take criticism from folks about this recovery package after they presided over a doubling of the national debt,” he said. “I’m not sure they have a lot of credibility when it comes to fiscal responsibility.” Watch it:
In early January, when Obama unveiled his recovery plan, ThinkProgress’ Matt Yglesias warned of the problem with starting off the stimulus negotiation with a healthy amount of tax cuts. “It’s one thing to unveil a compromise as a result of a bipartisan negotiation, and another thing to unveil an opening bid that you say you hope conservatives can get on board with,” he wrote.
What a refreshing change to have an intelligent, well thought out and non-evasive news conference. President Obama you rock!

BINGO! Gotta love this guy. Hopefully he takes this lesson learned and applies it to the Iranians.
February 9th, 2009 at 9:49 pmThe year is 2009 and a man named Barack Obama is president. What’s that on the bottom of his shoe, 2000-2008?
February 9th, 2009 at 9:51 pmPresident Obama laid everything out clearly enough, I think, for most people to understand. And I loved the not-so-subtle insults, basically saying “why should I listen to people who have been so wrong for so long?”
I was disappointed, however, with his answer about lifting the prohibition against the press welcoming the flag-draped coffins home. That was a beautifully-worded question by Ed Henry (surprisingly.)
February 9th, 2009 at 9:54 pmWe aren’t going to love every single thing he says and does Jane but you can bet that his reasons for this are much more about dignity than bush’s reason for it……
If he sees that he’s headed in the wrong direction there is a very good chance that this man will reverse course, something botch was incapable of doing.
February 9th, 2009 at 9:59 pmrachel reported tonight that lugar refused a ride with the president to his own state of indiana…
i thought lugar and obama were relatively close…

I guess backhanded acknowlegment that this man is much better than bush coming from you is about the most we can hope for.
Too bad you can’t just man up and admit that you have been wrong…
February 9th, 2009 at 10:01 pmit was good to hear his reply to the query about leahy’s “truth commission”… repeating that no one is above the law…
February 9th, 2009 at 10:03 pmThing is that tax-cuts for business wont stop goobermint spending, it’ll just mean Keltoi is more indebted by generational theft than before to pay for the bigger government and deficits created under
Bravo Keltoi, way to indebt the public!
February 9th, 2009 at 10:06 pmI understand Jane’s disappointment, but speaking as a military vet, my sense was that he did not want to speak up on a matter like this (when everyone knows about his own lack of military service) without talking to the right people in the Pentagon to make sure the ban can be lifted, while maintaining the dignity and respect due the fallen soldiers. But I would also bet that by the end of the week, he and Bob Gates will have discussed this, by which I mean Gates will be told to lift the ban. As long as the photographers remember what they’re photographing and show the proper respect, I’m all for an immediate lift to the ban.
What concerns me is that as people begin to see the images, as they should have been allowed to do these past seven years, they will begin to blame Obama for all of it, even that which came before him.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:07 pmI just hope Obama meant that as a “shot across the bow” that he was wise to their BS and that he would remember this and outmaneuver them at their own game next time.
I certainly hope he isn’t going to let them grandstand like they did something great that he was not going to do, because that is just another lie – something the mainstream media would be more than happy to “catapult.”
February 9th, 2009 at 10:07 pmto pay for the bigger government and deficits created under ^Dubya.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:07 pmFred, I’m sure that he’ll do the right thing about it sooner or later. I just felt that he could have prefaced his response with something like “Of course, our fallen heroes should be welcomed home with dignity…” He’s normally so eloquent and seems to say the right word or phrase, I guess I expected a bit more. Everything else was excellent.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:09 pmLugar just had other plans. He didn’t go back to Indiana at all. He and Obama are tight on non-proliferation. Yay.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:11 pmThe lesson I learned, or already knew, is that goobermint is beholden to banksters and corporate interests…not the people it was created of, by and for.
The salus populi are used by politicians as the greater fools to buy bad investments, to supply the pork, to be serfs to debt.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:19 pmJane, I’m a vet too and I agree. He seemed a little preoccupied with the stimulus and holding the reps feet to the fire and there is a lot of pressure to get this done.
It seemed like the issue of the flag draped coffins was a distraction from his main objective this evening and one he was not expecting.
When you don’t know the questions ahead of time and haven’t approved them and thought out your response as bush did, this will occur from time to time.
I’m with you on the overall positive effect of his presser…….it was great.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:20 pmRR, WTF are you talking about?
February 9th, 2009 at 10:20 pmObana needs to forget about pleasing the goppers as they are only waiting to pounce on him the first chance they get. Instead of focus put on bipartisanship, why not put all of his focus on problem solving.

It’s been said ad nauseum, but you are not a Christian. You are anathema to the teachings of Jesus and will burn in hell. That is what happens when you profess belief in Christianity and harbor hatred for your fellow man.
February 9th, 2009 at 10:53 pmGo figure.
President Obama got burnt because he listened to his Blue Dog DINO Democrat economic advisers who said that any economic recovery package would have a hard time getting passed, especially among so-called “centrist” DINO Blue Dog Democrats in Congress to say nothing of the die-hard Republicans, unless it was front-end loaded with a whole bunch of tax cuts, one-third of the total package, over $300 billion, a repeat of Paulson’s earlier FORTUNE 500 bail-out plan, which cost jobs instead of creating jobs.
But President Obama agreed to this front-end loading, only to discover that when he began actual negotiations with the so-called “centrist” DINO Blue Dog Demcorats, you know, the swing votes, and the Republicans in Congress, they wanted even more tax-cut concessions (especially the Republicans), thus placing President Obama in a weak negotiating position…as if this was planned by his DINO Blue Dog Democrat economic advisers, in complicity with the DINO Blue Dog Democrat so-called “centrist” caucus in Congress…because, you realize, this front-end loading of tax-cuts was agreed upon beforehand.
So, President Obama got burnt by not only the anti-American worker FORTUNE 500 Republicans in Congress but also by the DINO Blue Dog FORTUNE 500 Democrats, who obviously don’t understand that rising unemployment puts increasing stress on a whole lot of small to medium-sized businesses across America, which can only lead to more unemployed, causing even more stress on businesses, and more unemployed, just like what happened between 1929 and 1933.
And it doesn’t matter if the jobs lost are in the public or private sector, since workers in public jobs and workers in private jobs spend their paychecks at small to medium-sized privately-owned or publicly-traded businesses. DUH!!!!
Thus, President Obama’s initial concept of shoring up jobs in both the public and private sectors is a win-win for everyone involved, while the Republican’s and DINO Blue Dog Democrat’s alternative actually hurts our economy, can only cost more jobs nationwide (including the jobs held by Republicans, both in the public and private sectors) and ends up costing a whole lot of small to medium-sized businesses their customer base, with many of these businesses owned or run by Republicans. DUH!!!!
Insanity appears to be infectious in the Republican Party and among the ranks of the rank DINO Blue Dog Democrats. Do they really want to see a repeat of what happened between 1929 and 1933?!?!?!?
February 9th, 2009 at 10:55 pmTo Darryll, a Trillion dollar illegal war is OK, but anything to help the American people is not.

Oh, and I’m new here, pleased to meet all of you.
February 9th, 2009 at 11:06 pmI watched the replay of the Press Conference online, just got home from work. I was really blown away by how the President handled himself tonight. I thought his answer to the first question was spot-on and really laid out what this fight is all about. It really was the Press Conference in a nutshell I think. Obama did a great job of laying out his case and put the Rethugs (American Taliban IMHO) on notice that it is no more Mr. Nice Guy.
February 9th, 2009 at 11:12 pmThe mistake as i see it is that Obama started out by giving away the Tax Cuts that the GOP wanted in the bill. You can bet he won’t make that mistake again. what I truly like about him is his ability to admit to a mistake, learn from it and then move on and apply those lessons.
All in all I think the President had a very good day. The Town Hall in Elkhart was great (what a speech) and the Q & A was good as well. He really hit all his points well. The GOP as well as the Blue Dogs better be careful here. He keeps doing these end-arounds on them they won’t know what hit them. Obamam’s Poll Numbers for the Stimulis debate are overwhelming in his favor. The GOPs are in the tank.
Pleased to meet you too, Outstandinginmyfield. The more Progressives on this site, the better. Can’t have enough of us.

President Barack Obama: Extremely intelligent; knowledgeable; knows how the world works; has vision; articulate; doesn’t insult the American people with simplistic answers for the complex problems facing our nation.
Excellent new conference! Even the questions were substantive, except the one about some ballplayer on steroids.
February 9th, 2009 at 11:32 pmIt is my impression that President Obama is nice enough, but more importantly he is SMART and tough. Real tough, not the phony swagger of a child of privilege that we have endured for the last eight years. I would not bet against President Obama very often.

February 9th, 2009 at 11:45 pmHe’s a poker player! Never bet against him!
I think he actually worked this whole thing exactly as planned, to show America on the first bill off the bat that the Republicans are not to be taken seriously. If he had shut them out without giving them the chance to be such a$$holes, then we would be hearing (and many would be believing) that he was being unfair.
So now they have had and blown their chance at relevance for the next 4 years. Only it won’t 4, it will be 2, as they will lose seats over this.

February 10th, 2009 at 12:32 amI was disappointed that President Obama dodged Helen Thomas’ second question “do you know of a country in the Middle East which possess Nuclear weapons”. The correct answer of course is Israel and yet President Obama would not acknowledge this fact. Why does this remain such a taboo subject? Only two Presidents have acknowledged Israel nuclear weapons; Jimmy Carter (who was practically branded a traitor for doing so) and JFK who failed in his bid to get nuclear inspections in Israel. As long as Israel has Nuclear weapons it is ONLY NATURAL for its neighbors (e.g. Iran) to want to acquire Nuclear weapons.
February 10th, 2009 at 1:16 amObama needs to learn some lessons about acting like a black person.
Obama is a disgrace to black people.
I don’t think Obama would have any problem, hypothetically, with slavery happening all over again.
Maybe one remembers that Kanye West said, “Bush doesn’t care about black people.”
We have uncovered something far more horrifying.
It is practically like Obama “doesn’t care about black people.” (And Obama is black.)
There are all sorts of personalities.
There actually are screwed up black people who secretly don’t like their own kind.
There may even be black lunatics or freaks who would fancy themselves prancing around wearing a KKK outfit or uniform with the swastika on it.
Maybe Obama even fantasizes about hanging black people with
nooses.
I like black people.
Black people are cool!
“This is also why the white man feels the need to subjugate and oppress the darker peoples of the Earth” (Retrieved February 4, 2009, from http://www.topix.com/forum/world/TKGPCHIBVJQ39JV55).
White people don’t have to worry about Obama interfering with racial discrimination inflicted by white people against racial minorities while Obama is president of the United States.
It is practically just as bad as if the white supremacist at heart, George W. Bush, is still running the country.
For example, Bush murdered a black woman—Margie Schoedinger.
“One of those very least were George Bush’s personal complicity in the death (murder to be precise) of my friend Margie Schoedinger in September of 2003. Determining the exact whereabouts and contacts of [then] president-elect George Bush on September 21 thru 22, 2003, should be entirely lacking in difficulty” (Leola McConnell (Nevada Progressive Democratic candidate for U.S. Senate in 2010). Retrieved November 29, 2008, from http://leolaforussenate.blogspot.com/2008/02/leola-mcconnell-for-us-sena…).
Obama should have the guts to assemble workers from the FBI and/or one or more state attorney general offices and say something similar to the following:
“I, Obama, am the most powerful person in America now. Bush is no longer the president and thus no longer the most powerful person in America. I, Obama, am in control now. I, Obama, demand that the ultimate law-enforcement workers in this country investigate Bush and then proceed to have him locked away for life or executed for murdering the black woman—Margie Schoedinger. I, Obama, am black, and I find Bush’s murder of Margie Schoedinger to be personally offensive. I, Obama, feel it is once again like the time of slavery when white people killed black people with no sheriff, prosecutor, or court to stop it from happening or prosecute it. I, Obama, am not going to go around in the modern-day democracy feeling like a black slave of white people—especially while I am the president of the United States. I, Obama, want Bush brought down for murdering a black woman. I, Obama, want Bush brought down for racially discriminating against black people pursuant to Hurricane Katrina. I, Obama, am going to supply financial compensation to the black people who were harmed by Bush’s racial discrimination and who are still alive. I, Obama, am taken aback by Bush having been so evil in wrongfully causing the deaths of so many black people pursuant to his racist response relative to Hurricane Katrina. I, Obama, am going to take advantage of my time as a racial-minority president and not allow “Bush’s KKK-Neo-Nazi mentality” to rule over and oppress black people in America.”
Unfortunately, I can’t picture Obama having the guts to assemble workers from the FBI and/or one or more state attorney general offices to rightfully bring Bush down—as suggested above.
What does this mean?
Does this mean that Obama is going to be a huge disappointment to black people and/or racial minorities otherwise?
Does it mean that Obama realizes that the USA is a predominantly white country and doesn’t want to rub powerful, former, white, government officials the wrong way?
Does it mean that Obama is like a black person who prances around wearing a KKK outfit or a uniform featuring the swastika symbol—in a figurative sense (not a literal sense)?
Does it mean that Obama is a weakling?
Obama needs to show that he is in charge, pursue Bush for murdering the black woman—Margie Schoedinger, financially compensate and/or restore and/or reward black people who were racially discriminated against and harmed by Bush pursuant to Hurricane Katrina, fight racial profiling, and make America a better place for all racial minority people who are racially discriminated against.
Where is the f_ _ _ _ _ _ money?
Of course, Obama needs to seek prosecution against Bush and the others.
But if Obama does not even help out his own people, specifically, black people, where Bush had victimized so many of them, then Obama probably will not try to bring Bush down for warrantless surveillance; torture; cruel, inhuman, and degrading treatment of suspects; etc.
Obama needs to change and participate in seeking incarceration against Bush.
If Obama is not prepared to change accordingly, then he really shouldn’t have been talking about “change.”

February 10th, 2009 at 1:54 amAndrew Yu-Jen Wang–I’m certain that you MEAN well, but I am not at ALL certain what your point is. You seem to damn racism; suggest racism as a tool for President Obama; practice racism in your focus on AfroAmericans; and attempt to show that you are NOT racist by assuring us that “Black people are cool.”
President Obama has repeatedly stated his ethos: he is President for EVERYBODY, not just for “his” race. By indicating that he should favor “his” people, you are SUPPORTING racism and suggesting that he betray his oath to protect the CONSTITUTION, which does not allow ANYONE to declare a jihad against any person or group.
Your comment about “all racial minority people who are racially discriminated against”, coupled with the ethnicity suggested by your name, implies that YOU feel like a persecuted minority. It sounds as if you have an agenda based upon feeling persecuted, not based upon President Obama’s upholding the Constitution.
He cannot and should not favor ANY group, if he is to be true to his word. And THAT’S what he means when he promises change.

Welcome and good point. You will likely see even stupider things posted by RR. He is ignorant beyond belief and a real piece of work
February 10th, 2009 at 3:54 amWhen President Obama spoke of inheriting a national debt that had doubled under President Bush, I only wish he had put the actual numbers into that statement. When George entered office, our nation debt was $5.5 trillion. When he left office, the debt stood at well over $11 trillion.
Americans still have difficulty understanding the difference between a budget deficit and our overall debt. And speaking of the trillions that Bush borrowed would go a long way to putting this economic stimulus into perspective.
The real question is, just what did Americans get for Bush’s $5.5 trillion in borrowing? Lost jobs, lost homes, retirement accounts that lost half their value, skyrocketing energy costs, a collapsed economy. Oh, and some wars.
The era of the GOP is so over. And I’m loving me some Obama!
PEACE
February 10th, 2009 at 6:09 amI would have been happier to see Obama say its time for the GOP, you know the morons who got us INTO this catastrophe of biblical proportions, to just STFU. No tax cuts for corporations no more tax cuts for ANYONE but the middle class. If they dont LIKE IT, they can win the next election till they do we will be doing things the progressive way. That is what America voted for thats what they are going to get and until the GOP can stop acting like a classroom of petulant children F&ck THEM.
February 10th, 2009 at 6:30 amI can hear Cantor now crying in his milk about how unfair the President is being to the rethugs.
February 10th, 2009 at 8:20 amProud2bSTUPID says, well nothing. He never says anything other than regurgitating the latest hivemind stupidity. Proud you are just too stupid to breathe. You are a moron and have nothing to offer EXCEPT your ignorance and abject stupidity. You are a troll. You dont even TRY to discuss anything just come here to bash Dems and make VERY stupid baseless assertions. The kind only the terminall stupid would take seriously. Time for you to STFU
February 10th, 2009 at 8:30 amProud, you have reason to be proud of your post 87. It shows improved sentence structure, grammar, and spelling. Congratulations. The content is still lacking in logic, factual basis, and relevancy.
February 10th, 2009 at 8:39 amThe lesson Obama learned is the Republicans are like bratty spoiled children. Even though you gave them what they wanted they’re still throwing a tantrum.
February 10th, 2009 at 8:52 amRepubli-Cons keep pushing tax cuts for the wealthiest, more tax cuts and nothing but tax cuts for the wealthiest
Republi-NutJobs! Your tax cuts and tax incentives to outsource our American jobs for 8 years was “vowed” to “create jobs for Americans” – You obviously LIED!
Can Republi-Kids admit that their deranged Cowboy lied to them and looted and devastated the entire Country?
Bush and buddy Ken Lay both pulled an Enron
Bush did it at the National level, not just corporate
Republi-NutJobs must stop calling Americans and projects to directly help and rebuild America as “Porkulus”.
It is disgusting when fat pig LimpBonger calls $98 for School Nutrition for our Kids “Pork”.
But, $1 Trillion for bullets, body bags, killing, and spending for all the prisons, medical centers and infrastructure for strangers in Iraq is “great policy”.
Seriously, are you folks Nuts..!??
February 10th, 2009 at 9:04 amgunner: Many believe Ken Lay is still alive. The very damaging Enron records went down in the planned demolition of Building #7 on 911.
February 10th, 2009 at 9:29 amActually, that seemed like a naive statement, but now that I look at it, he may be right. Now the package is 42% tax cuts instead of the 30% that was in the initial bill. If he started off with zero, there would be ALOT less, and hopefully more dollars for infrastructure.
February 10th, 2009 at 9:44 amSlick move on Obama’s part.
Goading the Cons into either; backing themselves into a corner and blocking the bill – Result Cons will get the blame for further losses and going deeper into depression. Or, If they capitulate and support the bill and its not successful – They share the blame; “You guys negotiated the bill and voted for it” its as much your work as ours !”
Cons are lose either way.
February 10th, 2009 at 10:28 am“Hi, this is Obama. The problem the way I see it is that I should never have trusted the Republicans. Now I have learned a valuable lesson to exclude them from any discussion ever again. They are not being bipartisan by agreeing to everything I demand.”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:13 am“Hi, Obama again. I figured out how to end the war in Iraq. We’ll take all the troops and relocate them over to Pakghanistan. Then they won’t have to come home to unemployment.”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:14 am“It’s me again, President Obama. This economy is so bad that it’s practically a depr…. a depress… a catastrophe. And if anyone starts calling it a depression, then I want you all to know that it was George Bush’s fault. I’m batting cleanup.”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:15 am“Hi, me again. There’s absolutely no pork in this stimulus package excpet for all that nuclear stuff that’s going to states where Republicans have Senators. So you see, it’s those Republicans who are doing business as usual and not all the Democrats. Like the way I can say nuclear without messing it up?”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:18 am“I’m back. You want tax breaks, they’re in the package. But we all know that tax breaks can’t solve a depre…. a catastrophe, but I’m such a nice guy I put them in there anyway.”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:19 am“It sure is nice to be here in Elkhart IN, and I know a lot of you who used to build motor homes and commercial trailers are hurting right now. So here’s what I’m going to do. I’m going to give you a nice highway overpass on US-31 just five miles from here. See how that’ll help you get back to work? We’ll get to it just as soon as all those construction crews finish up the Dan Ryan in Chicago where I come from. Then you all can take US-31 south and get the heck out of here. Won’t it feel nice to go back to work?”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:23 am“I was just talking to my new Treasury Secretary, and I can tell you that he is smart. We’re going to all those toxic loan assets, and put them in a new place called ‘Big Bad Bank’. Then, we’re going to find some dummy to pay off all the bad debt in the ‘Big Bad Bank’ so that the real banks won’t have to. Now let me see… who could we find to stick it to with the “Big Bad Bank’ debt? I wonder who it will be, hmmmm?”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:27 am“One last thing before I go. Business is BAAAADDDD, and government is GOOOODDDD. I know, I know, you’re going to say that government is only a consumer and doesn’t produce anything. You’re probably thinking that all wealth is created in the private sector and that taxes are just an anchor to growth. Well that’s because you’ve been fed a bunch of lies by people like Ross Limbo. I’m here to tell you that government is your only friend and that private citizens should be allowed to own nothing personally. Now go to the light… go to the light… go to the light…”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:32 amTrickle up economics of the GOP since Reagan have proven to be a failure. Even Henry Ford understood that workers need to make enough to be able to afford the products being produced. Having all the money and power in the hands of a few is not a workable economy, unless you are willing to accept feudalism.
February 10th, 2009 at 11:38 am“Some people say that we can’t afford to do anything at this point. On the other hand, these are the people who voted in lockstep to bankrupt us. They are the bad spouse who buys lots of cocaine with our joint bank account and then complains that I never take them out for sushi and punches me.
But, deep down, I know they love me, and so I’m going to give them a really great Valentine’s Day present, and even if they throw it in the trash I’ll know that things are getting better.”
February 10th, 2009 at 11:42 amAt least President Obama is making an effort to get our government and our economy back on some sort of sustainable track after the last eight years of speeding toward the cliff.
February 10th, 2009 at 11:54 amPersonally I’m all for taking a scalpel to the testicles of the obstructionist Repukes who are so proud of their zero knowledge. They have a right to be as stupid as they want to be until they start to force their views on the rest of us. The election is over.
February 10th, 2009 at 11:58 amRepukes are going to have to learn how to work with someone who doesn’t necessarily march lockstep with all their ideas. However, it has been my idea that very few Repubpricks are capable of learning.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:03 pmQ: How many Obamunists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: None. It’s enough to hope that it gets changed.
Can anybody who voted for Obama and his “Change” tell me what you’re so happy about?
Last night sounded like the same old BS…Obama is just more eloquent with his delivery. Add in the tax cheats and liars on the cabinet….not really the change you were looking for is it?
February 10th, 2009 at 12:04 pmIt certainly is refreshing to have arrogantly ignorant son of privilege out of office.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:11 pmRemember the hollow slogan that repukes used to chant, “Country First”? To be accurate, they should chant “Greed First”, like lemmings as they run the country’s economy over a cliff.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:18 pmJB….wtf…Isn’t not paying your taxes a very greedy thing to do? Especially when you want my tax money to pay for your food stamps?
Please stop living in the past…Bush is gone…good riddance.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:31 pmGet a new whipping boy.
I pay my taxes and the little bit that goes for food stamps is well spent compared to the vast sums poured down the rat hole of war of choice in Iraq. Too many cops, too many prisons, too many subsidized corporations that can’t compete without avoiding paying their fair share. Are we a Country or just a bunch of greedy phucks trying to get over on one another?
February 10th, 2009 at 12:44 pmAs far as I can tell, we will be living with the wreckage of George Bush’s conservatism for a long, long time. And considering the conservative desire to always blame everyone else but themselves for policy disasters, all the more important to highlight the bunch of clowns that got us into this mess in order to discredit attempts to create more disasters and leverage these myriad catastrophes for their gain (see: Katrina, also privatization of military).
And finally, as you showed with you clever little class warfare lob on food stamps, George Bush’s mentality of setting American upon American for political gain is still alive and well in our polity, so all the more important to continue whipping that boy and the other boys who continue to try to tear this nation apart just so they can win a few more seats in the House.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:45 pmRepubpricks want to live in this fine country and enjoy all the benefits that come with living here, but they don’t want to pay their fair share of the expenses. Greedy selfish ignorant.
February 10th, 2009 at 12:51 pmThe only problem with Obama second-guessing himself in public is now everybody’s going to start second-guessing his second-guessing.
.
“Hi, this is They_call_Mr_Tibbs again. I think I’ve invented a new rhetorical comment method that prevents legitimate challenge and debate. Since leading questions doesn’t work and feigning ignorance doesn’t work, I’ll just put my words in Obama’s mouth. That’ll do the trick! Because God forbid I should post an opinion with my name on it, I’m too afraid that some mean old ivory-tower-educated elitist liberal might use their ‘logic’ to beat me up.”
.
tommyrot Says:
Q: How many Obamunists does it take to change a light bulb?
A: Two. One to change the bulb, and one to fight off the Republican trying to smash the new bulb.

I suppose what I could have done is started off with no tax cuts, knowing that I was going to want some and then let them take credit for all of them. And maybe that’s the lesson I learned.
Hind sight is always 20/20. Ah if we could just go back to last week and do things over.
It is important to make the correct decision the first time when you’re the President of the greatest country on the planet.
Refreshing? you bet. It show’s that he is just a man and he can’t walk on water. He should look at those who surround him and fire the ones who couldn’t see this revelation when it meant something.
February 11th, 2009 at 10:16 amAnyone can be President when your followers applaud you for being wrong. Obama gets KUDO’s from them every time he says “I was wrong”.
Kinda sounds like George Bush doesn’t it?
Liberals. No double standard there? Right?
February 11th, 2009 at 10:21 amObama loves that camera does’nt he? Maybe some day he will go to work. TARP II coming up. 2 Trillion dollars this time.
Hey where did I put my wallet?
February 11th, 2009 at 10:24 amHey guys.
Shouda, coulda, woulda.
Ha Ha Ha
Smile for the camera’s, smile for the camera’s. He hasn’t shown me much so far.
What happened to “Code Pink”. Why did the Washington Post stop reporting the casualty lists after Jan 20?
Obama killed a few of our boys yesterday.

Gotcha there didn’t he.
It’s now being run by the third Clinton administration now with a figurehead who can’t seem to get things right the first time around.
February 11th, 2009 at 10:45 amjay, what is the hard-on your right wingers have about Clinton? Oh, never mind. I don’t want to overtax your one working brain cell.
