Yesterday on his Fox News television show, Glenn Beck professed his deep concern for Beverly Eckert, a 9/11 widow who died in Thursday night’s plane crash in Buffalo. “After the attacks, she became a vocal activist for families of 9/11 victims,” Beck said in praising Eckert. “She pushed for the 9/11 Commission. She demanded answers from the government, and helped win the passage of the Intelligence Reform law.” David Neiwert recalls Beck’s earlier screed against the families of 9/11 victims:
You know, it took me about a year to start hating the 9/11 victims’ families. It took me about a year. Um, and I had such compassion for them and I really, you know, I wanted to help them, and I was behind — let’s give them money, let’s get them started, and all of this stuff. And I really didn’t — all the 3,000 victims’ families, I don’t hate all of them, I hate about, probably about ten of them. But when I see 9/11 victim family, you know, on television, or whatever, I’m just like, ‘Oh, shut up.’ I’m so sick of them. Because they’re always complaining. And we did our best for them. And again, it’s only about ten.
With a group of other relatives of people who had been killed, Ms. Eckert traveled to Washington for a meeting with elected officials. They heard all the reasons why a country at war should not lay bare how its defenses had failed. “I’ll never forget it,” Ms. Ashley remembered. “Beverly said, ‘Are you going to stand here and look me in the eye and tell me we are not going to have an investigation into the death of my husband and the relatives of all the other people in this room?’” A commission was created. Ms. Eckert and other family members went to the White House for the announcement and to learn who would be running the investigation. “We were just so relieved,” Ms. Eckert told Washington Monthly. “And then Bush brings Henry Kissinger into the room. I couldn’t believe it.’” When the families and others demanded that he disclose the foreign clients of his international consulting firm, Mr. Kissinger withdrew. The government stalled the commission’s investigators, balked at permitting testimony from officials like Condoleezza Rice, and tried to cut short the inquiries. In every instance, the commission, stiffened by the nonnegotiable insistence of the families, forced the administration to retreat. Ms. Eckert attended just about all of the sessions. “She had this rare ability to separate the part of her that was grieving from the part that was rational, objective, analytic,” said John Farmer, who served as senior counsel to the commission. With other families, she kept going back to Washington to press for enactment of the 9/11 Commission reforms. Last month, they met with the chairman of a commission on weapons of mass destruction. In early 2005, she sent an e-mail message from a boat in Florida. “Somehow,” she wrote, “I feel more at peace with Sean’s death, having had the opportunity to help change our government — hopefully, for the better.”

The US government has given Citigroup $45 billion in direct cash injections while guaranteeing another $291 billion of the banks toxic (worthless) assets. Citi’s cost to the taxpayer now totals $336 billion.
Think you over paid? You did. The entire market capitalization of Citigroup is only $19 billion which means that anyone can buy the entire company and assume full control for $19 billion. Taxpayers have paid Citi almost 18 times what the entire company is worth, while receiving no control, voting rights, or even an ATM fee reversal!
Bank of America is a similar story. $183 billion in injections and guarantees of worthless assets on a company that can be bought and controlled entirely for $27 billion.
Bank of America and Citigroup have already cost the US taxpayer a whopping $519 billion.
To put things in better perspective, at $519 billion, you could completely own and control General Motors, Alcoa, American Express, The Disney Corporation, McDonalds, Home Depot, Hewlett Packard, Merck, Du Pont, Boeing, Caterpillar, Intel, 3M, and Kraft foods while still having a cool $6 billion in cash left over.
Nearly half of a trillion dollars has gone to Citigroup and Bank of America alone. The government has overpaid by more than 11 times the total value of the two companies and has absolutely nothing to show for it. The taxpayers receive no dividend or interest payments, have no ownership or control, and are at the mercy of paying back interest and fees to organizations running on public money.
Think about that while you hear more about the “Nationalizing the banks” campaign being sold in the media. How much more are we to pay for these companies?

He went on a months long tirade that ALL single mothers should put their babies up for adoption. Finally some deluded listener contacted him and offered up her 16 year old daughters love child for the Becks to adopt. Poor child.
One time he advertised for weeks that he was going to take his crew to an abortion clinic and broadcast the actual procedure. People on both sides of the issue pleaded with him to not do it. At the end he said the woman backed out. Then he said it was a hoax all along.
At that point I contacted every one of his advertisers I could. One of them wrote me back and said that they had already decided that they would not be renewing their contract. Some didn’t write back, but I noticed that a few disappeared.
This scum needs to not be on the airwaves. If you don’t know how disgusting he is just listen for one week. He makes Limpballs seem like a nice guy. Then contact his advertisers and insist they drop him. Hit ‘em in the pocket. I beleive in free speech but this guy is nothing but a wingnut propagandist and we do have laws against propaganda in this country (although they’re not enforced, obviously).

Bush criminal cabal. With Richard Cheney squarely in the middle of the entire thing. Followed by tireless, ruthless and illegal efforts to cover it up. Investigations were sidelined, thwarted and tainted by none other than Bush planted operatives that actually led and sat on the commission. One or two or three or four oddities could be perhaps understood. But wholesale revision of and altering of the facts, witnesses and evidence is simply too much to try and believe.
Until and if a new, credible and completely thorough re-investigation is conducted, the relatives, all Americans and the rest of the world will NOT know the truth about what happened on that hideously dark day. It is not nearly enough to know or hope that sometime in the distant future the truth will finally be known. The perpetrators of this murderous wound to humanity should have to face punishment now. Nearly all of the suspected guilty have blatantly demonstrated in many ways they care not about shame, disgrace and humility. They MUST be punished now. Not in the history books of the future. Decency and sanity deserve nothing less.

Actually there were questions raised by engineers. However it was difficult to analyze the steel since Rudolph Guliani almost immediately carted it off and sold it to China, avoiding close scrutiny. He is suspect in the eyes of many as being complicit in whatever happened behind the truth.

Could it be he was comparing them to the many that went through the same grief at the lost of their loved ones, and endured the pain more discreetly,and did not think they needed to profit extravagantly in a monetary sense for their lost.
