House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) has created a YouTube video set to the tune of Aerosmith’s “Back In The Saddle” boasting that zero Republicans voted for the recovery package. The video is called “The House GOP is Back.” Watch it:
“Republicans in the House of Representatives are trying to mold success out of what is, at its core, a legislative failure,” notes the Huffington Post. Many conservatives have been rooting for the economic recovery package’s defeat, hoping to turn it into a political issue in 2010.
Ah, yes.. the old “moral victory”; “We lost. but we gave it our all!”
Methinks the House GOP better get used to crowing about those kinds of “victories” in the next few years. It may be all they have to brag about.
“Yay! We almost obstructed passage of the bill!”
February 16th, 2009 at 7:24 pmI’m sure we could put this little video to good use at election time. Bookmarked!!!
:-D
February 16th, 2009 at 7:27 pmSo now we have a new Social Darwinist in town eh? Good luck with that Eric…
February 16th, 2009 at 7:29 pmYou know, it amazes me how these people can spend so much effort in opposing this bill, and being so completely negative about everything. You would think, that with nearly $800 Billion on the line, that EVERYBODY, no matter how they feel about the bill, get together and make sure it is as successful as possible. The alternative is too scary to talk about.
It is also amazing, how, in the last 8 years, anytime someone opposed war spending, or proposed a different direction for this country, they were ay beast called unpatriotic, and at the worst, a traitor or terrorist.
WHAT THE HELL IS WRONG WITH THESE PEOPLE ?????
February 16th, 2009 at 7:32 pmCantor belongs with his idle (newt) at chimpy’s new slime pond at the pig farm in crawdad…Great location for them in the new layer that floats on top..
February 16th, 2009 at 7:32 pmCelebrating a unanimous vote against a bill that consisted 30% of tax cuts?
As for the playskool rock band, either you go pro or give your parents their garage back. I wouldn’t say it belongs in a legislative body.
February 16th, 2009 at 7:34 pmThe GOP using the real Aerosmith with the classic ass-kicker “Back In The Saddle” is akin to Chimpy’s on-going laughable (psuedo)cowboy look the past decade …………
It’s like taking Richard Simmons and trying to dress him up in combat gear………….
February 16th, 2009 at 7:35 pmhow about some pushback points to counter the b.s.
i see “golf carts” – those are actually road certified electric cars…
what else?
February 16th, 2009 at 7:36 pmAnyone seriously think Cantor paid Aerosmith for using their song?
Rock and roll just doesn’t match the republican personna. They should have used Autry’s Back in the Saddle. It fits them better.

With the likes of Rove , Craig , Haggard and Gannon , they’d be better ’served’ using a Wham or Frankie Goes to Hollywood tune ……..
February 16th, 2009 at 7:39 pmThere was a typo – it was supposed to read:
“The House GOP is Wack”
– Cantor is actually proud of being newtie-tewtie-fresh-n-frewtie’s sockpuppet, and better watch out for the ghost of Churchill, who I’m pretty sure will be burning him with cigars while he sleeps in the coming weeks.
p.s. let’s bet on how long until Cantor gets the letter from Aerosmith’s lawyers?
February 16th, 2009 at 7:41 pmCantor fancies himself as some sort of moralist – does he have a clue as to who Steven Tyler and Joe Perry are? This is worse than Reagan using ‘Born in the U.S.A.’ as a campaign theme! WTF?

February 16th, 2009 at 7:44 pmI don’t freaking get it and I have voted for over 30 years, and lost probably over 90% of the time. It passed!! It better F’ing work or Barry is the next Carter.

We point out that republicans did their best to curtail the stimulus plan, before voting against it. We also detail the spending in each congressional district, highlighting the inordinate amount of money sent to GOP districts, and what they did with it.

What I really dont get is why you would be SO proud of being SO stupid. Do you not get how incredibly ignorant you are?
February 16th, 2009 at 8:01 pmSuch foolishness and buffoonary! LOL – Keep it up Cantor, we’ll see how this plays out in 2012! This idiot seems to forget that if President Obama fails we all fail. We’re all in this mess together. Sink or swim bytches!

Talk about negotiating in bad faith – Republican’ts make gypsy used car salesmen look honorable.
February 16th, 2009 at 8:03 pmIsn’t it highly amusing that Cantor would use a song describing a cowboy going to a bar, picking up a girl and spending the night with her , with lots of sexual innuendo in the lyrics among the Old West images , and which was written by 2 of the most notorious and heavy heroin users ……….?

Bush era thinking. To what end? I think I have already pointed out that if it works the GOP gets hammered in the next elections anyway.

I’m a little puzzled by the GOOP’s tact on this one. If the GOOP had won the House in Nov, wouldn’t McCain have pushed for even MORe tax cuts? I could have sworn he ran on that – making Botch’s cuts PERMANENT.
So the GOOPers are all wetting themselves over the stimulus, but what, 40% is in the form of TAX CUTS… which seems to be their Holy Grail.
So in terms of new debt, Obama took on, what, approx $450BB, maybe a little more? And the GOOPers see this as “the end of the world as we know it”?
Yet they had absolutely NO PROBLEM w/ Botch running up $6 TRILLION plus in 8 years… simply… amazing…
So they demand all these changes to a bill they want nothing to do w/… then vote against it completely anyways… sooooo… when they go back to their districts to hand out the money, will they proudly tell their constituents, “Remember… all I wanted was more tax breaks for the rich… I VOTED against getting these extra unemployment checks and infrastructure jobs for all of you!”
And on top of that… Red States have been getting more back in Federal dollars than they pay out for years… so a lot of the money the GOOPers spend isn’t even theirs in the first place. It comes from states like California.
And this is somehow a VICTORY for GOOPers?
Man… I’m getting a splittin’ headache… anybody know where that bong from Saturday went to?
______________
Are you saying that if they had supported it they would share the credit? That’ll never happen.
Are you saying the GOOP would never share the credit?
You’re prolly right about that.
Remember… Obama extended his hand to them… and they promptly bit it.

February 16th, 2009 at 9:16 pmKeep a copy.
In ?1993? As reported in the news, Clinton’s 1993 recovery plan got blasted by Newtie and his Contract on America obstructionist cabal. Then Clinton’s years became a great economic 8 years.
Now once again, the dem comes in on the tail of the poor economy of the republican predecessor. The repubs are re-running the obstructionist playbook. Can’t wait for the economy to take off!
February 16th, 2009 at 9:19 pmWith no ideas or suggestions other than more of the same, the rethugs decided to just not cooperate, lie and say they were not appreciated and involved in the process, while conspiring to sit by and see if it fails hoping that the public will reward them for their incompetence. Did you hear Rachel Maddow rip Cantor a new one on his choice of Aerosmith’s “Back in the Saddle” for his video? After he threw a fit about the Janet Jackson wardrobe malfunction at the Super Bowl he uses a song with a decidedly non-family oriented bent.
Go read all the lyrics here:

That Newt… always taking the high road.
Obama TRIED reaching out to the GOOP… and they promptly bit his hand.
You seem to forget that Botch once had an approval rating in the 90’s.
Perhaps his drop in popularity was due to something other than “partisan politics”.
Or is this the GOOP’s new political tack… be as obnoxious, difficult and obstructionist as possible all whilst claiming “It’s nothing new… everyone does it”?

Some love Botch; others love SoccerMom; many love Darth; some worship Frewt; some love Con-the-leaser; some love Gonzo.

February 17th, 2009 at 3:44 amMy friends, what we have here is the ubiquitous right-wing activity known as masturbatory gloating.
As you may have observed, right-wingers have a powerful physiological need to gloat.
I’m sure you remember how they behaved after they stole the 2004 election. They had just committed treason agaist their fellow Americans…and they were gloating. That’s what kind of people we’re dealing with here. :(
But now, of course, there is nothing whatsoever for the Right to gloat about. Their levels are getting dangerously low. They must gloat soon or perish…
(I hope you’re appreciating the poignancy of this story.)
Anyway, when wingers are hard up for a good gloat, they will make up something to gloat about–and then gloat about it, in the same way a starving animal will eat a rock. This is masturbatory gloating. It’s a sure sign they’re screwed.
