Sticks and stones folks. Every market analyst who saw this meltdown coming has suggested that throwing money at it would only increse the problems. That was when the stimulus was 350 billion. The market tanked and now we are going to throw more money at it? The market will behave like a spoiled rich kid with an allowance, there will never be enough money. You have to make the market correct itself. You want to spend money? They’ll take all you can print.

It is apparent to everyone by now, the package is a mess. The repugs have been able to successfully hang this around the Democrats necks. Not only will this spending fail to create jobs, it is going to be an albatross that leads to our defeat in 2010. I cannot fathom what the Dems were thinking. Letting Pelosi take the lead on this paqckage was a fatal mistake. President Obama should have crafted this himself through back channels. Instead, he let’s the most worthless speaker of the modern era generate a spending bill that has no chance. There is no “upside” in any of this. When the American people get the bill, and the majority already know this, they are going to Washington with pitchforks and torches.

I think today President Obama should sign the stimulus bill and add a signing statement. The signing statement should issue an order to every congressmen that has publicly stated that this bill is bad and so disasterous, will have to donate any money they receive in their state or district to a state or district that actually thinks it will work. We would welcome it in Michigan!

My friends, what we have here is the ubiquitous right-wing activity known as masturbatory gloating.

As you may have observed, right-wingers have a powerful physiological need to gloat.

I’m sure you remember how they behaved after they stole the 2004 election. They had just committed treason agaist their fellow Americans…and they were gloating. That’s what kind of people we’re dealing with here. :(

But now, of course, there is nothing whatsoever for the Right to gloat about. Their levels are getting dangerously low. They must gloat soon or perish…

(I hope you’re appreciating the poignancy of this story.)

Anyway, when wingers are hard up for a good gloat, they will make up something to gloat about–and then gloat about it, in the same way a starving animal will eat a rock. This is masturbatory gloating. It’s a sure sign they’re screwed.
