Last year, Sen. Bob Corker (R-TN) was one of the staunchest opponents of the federal auto bailout, blaming the defeat of bailout legislation on the United Auto Workers (UAW). Last week, thousands of UAW members delivered valentines to Corker, protesting his anti-UAW positions. At a townhall in Columbia, TN yesterday, Corker lashed out at the Valentine’s Day messages, calling them a “tacky” and “classless” thing to do. Watch it:
They are your constituents, Mr. Corker.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:03 pmApparently they haven’t been able to reach you via more traditional lines of communication…
I guess the right to dissent has been removed from the Constitution….
oh wait! That was only the Goal of the Republicans, it never actually happened….
February 19th, 2009 at 12:04 pmWould you have preferred shoes?
February 19th, 2009 at 12:08 pmDid Sen Corker find it tacky and classless when the GOP offered up these Obama Valentines? Click on any of them for the nasty comments. By the way Senator, how is the coal sludge clean-up going?

February 19th, 2009 at 12:09 pmGeez, Bob…
Valentines and not bricks?
I guess when someone like Malkin posts peoples’ home addresses, ph numbers, et al on line so’s whack jobs can make death threats, that’s okay?
Amazing how thin-skinned some folks are, innit?
February 19th, 2009 at 12:13 pmGuy wouldn’t know class if it came and bit him in the ass…
February 19th, 2009 at 12:19 pmPeople are just misunderstanding TN dialect. There, “tacky” and “classless” actually mean “clever” and “hilarious”.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:21 pmAs a right to work state you naturaly hate unions,so you will gladly base your your opinion that it`s the UAW fault,we sir you seem to forget that you and your state gov`t gave millions of dollars in al sorts of aid to FOREIGN auto companies to come to Tennessee, so why not bailout our own U.S.auto makers who when compared to your foreign auto makers keep their profits here while they send their profits to their country.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:23 pm@ APEC not OPEC
ummm…wow. I would have never believed such a thing existed.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:23 pmYeah, asking workers to give up their unions and work for nothing with no health care is so “classy”
February 19th, 2009 at 12:24 pmWhat, exactly, is Corker objecting to? That he received a lot of mail expressing objection to his position? Or that these letters were in the form of Valentines?
If it’s the Valentines he’s objecting to, he should chalk that up to the time of year. If it’s getting any mail that takes issue with his positions, perhaps he should be in a different business.
Writing to those who represent us in Congress and expressing our views (as long as we aren’t making threats against them) is one of our treasured freedoms in this country. Exercising this right is neither tacky nor classless. Now, if somebody had done a Carrie Underwood on his car, that would be a different matter.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:26 pmHa ! (slaps knee) That’s a real corker !
February 19th, 2009 at 12:28 pmHe’s objecting because he’s an obstructionist. That’s what they do.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:29 pm(hey, what’s the big idea?? – “your comment is awaiting moderation”)
some sensitive trollie must’ve flagged me. What a wuss.
If “sl_t” can’t be posted, I’m out, for keeps.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:30 pmDr. Matt – that’s a great frameup of this whole union issue:
Anti-Union = Elitist.
It works, because it’s true.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:31 pmdid that guy say, at the end of clip, that CORKER said Snowe etal were ‘jackass[es]‘???
yeahhh… that’s “classy”…
February 19th, 2009 at 12:32 pmTenn. could have had Harold Ford, Jr. as Senator, but sneaky ads portraying him regularly visiting White women at the Playboy mansion did Mr. Ford in.
Tennessee, you get what you pay for. Pop the Corker & clean up your mess!

that cold be a holdover from hillary’s days… TP finally got ’shit’ out of the filter, but not ‘b!tch’…
and apparently not ’sl_t’…
let it go… copy before submitting, to be safe…
they did fix ‘analysis’ also…

I forget whether or not Corker fumed with outrage while those racist ads were playing down in TN? Did he dare call those smears “tacky” and “classless?”
February 19th, 2009 at 12:38 pmThanks Katy – I won’t feel picked on and censored now.

He wouldn`t want to appear hypocritical,…..oops to late.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:57 pmCorker calling anyone classless is….what’s the word?…there are two I can think of, clueless and hypocritical…and a third…hilarious!
February 19th, 2009 at 1:46 pmtacky and classless …
yeah, none of them had money in them.
February 19th, 2009 at 1:49 pmUnion workers should take a cut in pay and benefits when Congress takes a deep cut in pay and benefits and when Wall Street Bankers take a deep cut in pay and benefits. Fair is fair.
February 19th, 2009 at 1:53 pmthey should have sent him valentines with his daughter locking lips with that other chick. they could have picked them up anywhere.
February 19th, 2009 at 1:55 pmI still like the Iraqi shoe idea. Symbolic, aerodynamic…just a nice flying symbol of contempt.
I had considered suggesting something more appropriate but I’d rather throw a shoe than a used diaper.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:03 pmtombaker, you left last night just as tim vac admitted he was a closeted homosexual….you should revisit the buttars thread for a good laugh.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:10 pmwill do Fred – that sure was fun – neither he nor Daryll would respond to me at all.
Tim’s journey of self-discovery led me to a good point in my thinking later on – shouldn’t we all just identify as “humansexual”? that’d dispel a whole lot of prejudice and anxiety. The customary disctinctions of straight, gay, bi are all a little too simplistic, and are only useful when dividing and judging, so why use them?
February 19th, 2009 at 2:18 pmHe ought to tell us what a “classy” response would have been.
February 19th, 2009 at 2:29 pmWell, he should really know about classless and tacky. Isn’t that the current Republican Party platform, since they have nothing else?
February 19th, 2009 at 3:33 pmCorker saids he dedicated to help those GM workers in Springfield, he did not express specifically how he would do that.
Gee really? Of course he didn’t! Why? Because he DOESN’T CARE! BTW, anyone besides me notice that the only time you hear Republicans express care for workers is when they are talking about how the Employee Free Choice Act will “harm” them? I wonder why???
February 19th, 2009 at 4:44 pmAs I remember it, a few days ago TP had a video of a profanity filled, vitriolic on the unions that was released by the GOP.
Somehow, I just don’t think valentines compare.
February 19th, 2009 at 4:51 pmI wish we were a classless society. Unfortunately, we are very stratified.
Reminds me of Rodney Dangerfield asking the teacher to call him when she didn’t have any class.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:30 pmThese jerks make their wealth on the backs of labor, and in return give labor the finger every time.
February 19th, 2009 at 5:53 pmClassless, from a RepubliCon Stooge, who is leading the class warfare on the poor and middle class.
February 19th, 2009 at 8:31 pmThe party of the purple band-aid finds a valentine classless and tacky. Hey Bob, when did your party start hating working Americans?
