On Sunday, the Washington Post printed a climate change denial column by George Will that contained several demonstrable falsehoods. Despite the loud chorus of critics pointing out Will’s factual flaws, Washington Post editorial page editor Fred Hiatt has refused to comment on the errors and the column has not received a correction. Will has another column in the Post today, but it too has no correction attached to it for his last column’s obvious factual mistakes.
Since conservatives really seem to believe they’re inventing their own reality as they go along, perhaps Will and Hiatt see no need to issue any correction for their newly minted “facts”.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:28 amSo the Washington Post has joined Fox News as having only passing interest in the truth?

George Bush
George Tenet
George Will
Is the name “George” derived from some synonym for “tyrant” or “wrong”?

George Carlin did his part to make the name better, but one man can only do so much…
February 19th, 2009 at 10:35 amAre we surprised? The arrogant, self-righteous Will issue a correction? Not unless he can construe the facts some way to make it seem he was never wrong. That may take a while – and public memories are short, so I don’t expect a word from him.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:36 amIt’s not news if it’s on 24 hrs a day.
It’s entertainment-based media driven by advertising revenue.
Check your brains at the door.

It is unfortunate that such a venerable and influential paper as the Washington Post, particularly the Editorial section, is becoming more and more of an old rag.
February 19th, 2009 at 10:56 amHere’s my letter to the Post:
Don’t you feel that the factual errors in George Will’s column on Global Warming merit a printed correction from the Post? It wasn’t just a simple typographical error, as it fundamentally altered the conclusion of the scientific data, which he used in support of his argument.
Shouldn’t a modicum of journalistic integrity be expected, even from opinion pushers like Mr. Will? The reputation of the Post should be of far greater importance than a bruised ego for one man.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:03 amHaven’t we pretty much determined that those on the right are constitutionally incapable of self-correction, or even taking facts other than what they believe into account?
It seems like a genetic defect at this point. Was Will fearful and easily startled as a child?
February 19th, 2009 at 11:16 amCirculation in the toilet, maybe ? Hummm…… wonder why?
Credibility deficit?? Newspapers’ most valuable asset in this multi-media era is…. c r e d i b i l i t y.
February 19th, 2009 at 11:44 amLose that – and you might as well fold.
Here’s to the Right’s glorious Self-Defeat!!!
Wish it was closer to happy hour.
February 19th, 2009 at 12:21 pmIf people have to start putting out actual facts on global warming then “An Inconvenient Truth” will be down to about fives minutes worth of material.
February 19th, 2009 at 8:09 pmThe Washington Post is typical MSM, the sooner it is shut down the better.
February 19th, 2009 at 8:36 pmWow. Such hysteria, such name calling and such a strident lament of shrill whines. You would think New York was already under 20 feet of water and Africa had turned into a frying pan emanating the stench of burning flesh. You would have thought the earth had warmed up over the past 10 years instead of cooling down to the point of the coldest winters in 100 years – as in China. Yes the hoax is over. It has gone the way of Rachel Carson, Paul Erlich, global cooling, GM foods, Y2K, green M&Ms, Bird flu, weapons of mass distruction and all the other apocalyptical nonsense.
