Remember this bill was over 1000 pages and most members of Congress voted on it without fully reading it (how could they in less than 24 hours?). “the recovery package would have funded his state’s unemployment expansion for three years, at which point the state could — if it chose to do so — phase out the program.” This statement is true if you go by what was orally stated by members of Congress. But supposedly the actual bill, in written words, required a permanent change in state law. After the funding ran out they would indeed have to find a way to fund the newly expanded coverage. Let’s be fair people and not get our panties all in a bunch.

Louisiana is already a welfare state, so he’s going to continue to get more of our tax dollars than our own states do anyway. Or maybe the plan is to starve everyone or get them to move out so he and his developer pals can have the freedom to turn the state into an amusement park for the uber rich.

No one in the GOP gives a rat’s ass about anyone but themselves.

It is rather interesting that there are people here who actually believe that it is better for us sit on our hands and do nothing and “let the economy fix itself”. Wake up from your dreams, for crying out loud!

Some people rave about how tax cuts alone can get us out of the mess. Don’t forget that it was greedy and unscrupulous firms on Wall Street that speculated on fancy and creative mortgages that put us all in a tailspin. They made their money knowing that some, if not all, of the mortgages they were giving out would eventually default.

But to all who support the do-nothing approach to fixing the problem, I hope that you have your personal financial houses in order, not just echoeing the shout-from-the-sidelines obstructionist views that we have been hearing!

I hope that you have an alternative your “secure jobs” in case you get fired!

yeah rebub’s make me sick. they all of the sudden want to be conservative and fiscally responsible after spending us into an atrocious defecit. two wars that havent been won and have accomplished nothing but emboldening the enemy. now they are stronger in pakistan, gaining strength in afghanistan, and spreading through yemen. wow you did so well repub’s what a great job of taking down the enemy. i feel so much safer now. lets not forget the repubs buddies in the saudi royal family who are the largest spreaders of extremism. you wont see them criticizing their oil buddies though will you. and now we see their true agenda at home. we see how they really view the common folk of america. repubs are completely against regulating big businesses because we all know who pays for their campaigns. look how well business did with no regulation under repub’s rule. i think they were all working on this together. maybe it was intentional. collapse the economy. most of the filthiest rich will stay rich the poor will be destitute. maybe they hope the rest of us will die off, or kill each other fighting for what little resources are left. it wouldnt surprise me in the least. and to me i guess even socialism would be better than complete failure of the economy and watching the poor starve to death. is capitalism and free markets a model structure for success? well take a look around i think we can all say it’s a complete failure. plus they used to have caps on energy, on how much can be charged for power. there has always been some regulation needed to keep the rich from destroying the poor completely, out of greed. now we offer aid to people suffering and ofcourse repubs are aginst that too. they dont want to help those who are suffering. their motto is give more to those with the most. as you saw they were quick to want to cap middle class autoworkers pay before handing them a bailout. but when you want to cap millionaire bankers pay they all the sudden dont agree with that kind of government regulation. now that your capping pay for the rich we think theres a morale issue against pay caps and all of the sudden it’s an anti amercian practice. it’s very amercian i guess in their eyes to cap the middles class wage though. how kind of them. their true colors are really showing now. as far as i can see repub are great at doing the devil’s work. give tax breaks to the rich and keep aid money from the poor. or lets be more truthful steal from the poor and give to the rich. they are criminals who should be locked up for their corruption. they stole retirement from the people. they are quick to cut funding on anything that would help out the common good. education, welfare, medicaid, ssi, food and housing programs, even cleaner technology is a bad thing in their eyes. they support the rich, greedy criminals on wallstreet, but charity for the poor, starving, and sick is not a good enough cause to get behind. theres no humanity in their party left. they’ll never support more affordable healthcare, workers rights, and especially better education. the more simple minded, uneducated morons they can create in the u.s means more votes for them. it’s funny if a repub says he hates gays he can be accepted as a good christian across the repug party as well. ill tell you this hating anyone makes you a bad christian. im a christian and theres no message of hate from Christ. i tell you these people are the most disgusting bunch amercia has ever seen. even repubs at one time had some morales. as for reagan their knight in shining armor id like to bring up that he killed the fairness doctrine and im tired of hearing how great he was. because of that we have millions of brainwashed idiots who can only see one side of a coin. they think a penny has two heads for crying out loud. they will never be able to step back and see the whole picture. rightwing mnedia bias has become an epidemic. i compare repubs to a new plague on the earth that will destroy anyway it can, everything that is for the common good.

The Democrats are just as guilty as the Republicans. Barney Frank, Chris Dodd, Maxine Waters…..they pushed the CRA and loans to low income people who couldn’t afford to own a house and fought any changes to the CRA to correct what was going on. Ever hear of Nija loans? Stands for no job no income. Welfare checks were counted as income. So get your blinders off and look at both parties.
As for the rich paying their fair share of taxes…what planet are you living on. The quickest way for revenue to decrease is to tax it. Works every time. Why work hard to pay the government – federal, state, and local. (In New York City 40,000 people pay 50% of the taxes. There are over 8,000,000 people living there.) My husband was in his mid 50’s, in middle management and was part of a major cut back. He lost his job of 29 years, was part of three more lay offs in a 5 year period. We managed to land on our feet. It wasn’t easy but we did. We both are self employed. If you represent the majority in this country then we are in deep, deep trouble.
