Bunning misspells Justice Ginsburg’s name in his apology statement.

Over the weekend, Sen. Jim Bunning (R-KY) predicted that Supreme Court Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg would be dead within “nine months” from pancreatic cancer. First Read reports that Bunning has now put out a statement apologizing for the remarks, although his office misspells the Justice’s name:

I apologize if my comments offended Justice Ginsberg,” Bunning said. “That certainly was not my intent. It is great to see her back at the Supreme Court today and I hope she recovers quickly. My thoughts and prayers are with her and her family.”

Another GOPig wishing death on a SCOTUS member. They are a loyal bunch, aren’t they? Party over country – and sanity.

  2. ralph the wonder llama says:

“I apologize if my comments offended Justice Ginsberg,” Bunning said.

So does this mean that if Justice Ginsburg recognizes that Republicans say stupid things in public, and thus is not offended, Sen. Bunning withdraws his apology?

    Why make an apology conditional?

Why not just say, “I apologize for what I said”?

Yeah, I don’t think Senator Bunting’s error was a mistake.

Oh Senator Bunning, why ever would you think that Justice Ginsburg would be insulted by the fact that you just predicted her imminent death? Sheesh! Live long and prosper Justice Ginsburg.

“I apologize if my comments offended Justice Ginsberg,” Bunning said.

Not that his comments were actually offensive. He’s just sorry if she took his comments at face value, because there is just so much nuance in “Cancer. The bad kind….”

  34. LibertyLover says:

What he meant to say was this:

“I am sorry that someone in the media reported this and people were offended enough by my comments to contact my office and give my aides such a ration of sheet that I had to issue this politically expedient apology that I hope will get me off the hook for saying what I really think.”

  35. DRxJ says:

As I am one who makes continuous, daily grammatical errors while posting, I can see what gunmitch is trying to point out.
However, I am also not releasing a public apology about a political figure. If I had to, or if, let’s say, I had to write an official business letter, I’d make damn sure everything was correct before it went to print.
As noted above, the “errors” from the right seem to be non stop.
Even if it was not purposeful, it would appear that no research and effort was taken about the apology, and thus lessens it even more, in my most humble opinion.

  36. LibertyLover says:

    GregM Says:
I believe this is the same Jim Butting that I rooted for as a little kid when he pitched for the Phillies.

Interesting. I wonder if he belonged to the players’ UNION? I wonder if he benefited from being a member of the players’ UNION?

  37. jacambece says:

Oh Noes!! The democrat party might be offended by a misspelling, meanwhile Mr. Rove is running free. Well ya gotta have priorities.

  38. eve says:

    typical non-apology

    “if I offended” translation:

“If you stupid people were offended by my brilliant and completely justified yet repulsive remarks, then here is my statement where I don’t really apologize for saying something outrageous because I’m really quite proud of being an asshat.”

  39. Curlew says:

If his “thoughts and prayers are with” Ginsburg why did this nitwit say she’d be dead in 9 months?

As time goes by I remain amazed at the amount of compassion exuded by those of the compassionate conservative party. These jerks are “pro-Life” also arent’ thaty?

    jacambece Says:

Oh Noes!! The democrat party might be offended by a misspelling, meanwhile Mr. Rove is running free. Well ya gotta have priorities.

Hey imbecile, it is a huge stretch to equate ThinkProgress to THE Democratic party.

  43. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

“I apologize if my comments offended Justice Ginsberg,” Bunning said.

Yeah, and if she happens to die in nine months he’s gonna be jumping up and down saying, “I told you so! I told you so!” POS.

Apparently not, or not for very long. Unions in baseball didn’t come around until 1968. He left the game in 1971.

As for his state. Currently, Bunning has a 43% approval rating and comes up for re-election in 2010.

  47. EugeneDebs says:

    jacambece Says:

There is no such THING as a Democrat party MORON. There is a DemocratIC Party and a RePUNKlican party. Since you are so ignorant you dont even know the name of the largest political party in the US I can say without a doubt you are a simpering moronic weasel. My GOD how can idiots like you be SO proud to be SO stupid?

  48. spencers mom says:

In the context of what Bunning was saying, he was attempting to reassure his audience that SCOTUS was about to get even more conservative because Ginsburg was about to die, opening up a liberal seat.

It’s that simple. And to actually apologize would be to admit that what he said was offensive, which to Bunning and his audience, it clearly wasn’t.

    F’ing pig.

    PEACE

  49. AntiPatriot says:

Maybe he means the since departed Allen Ginsberg. He would’ve made one hell of a Supreme Court Justice.

And you know those conservatives- date one man and write about it, and suddenly you’re a woman.

    jacambece Says:

    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

You are WOLD class stupid J. When Chimpy McShortbus left office the DOW was WELL below what it was under Clinton you moron. I get that you are ignorant. I get that you are a troll. I do however miss the days when people had the good sense to be ashamed to be as ignorant as you.

  51. DRxJ says:

What? The DOW is at record highs, just like when Clinton left office?

Oh, it’s that topsy turvy fantasy world of the right again, isn’t it?

Dammit. If a ever need a break from reality, I’ll make a quick trip to LaLa land of the right. (apologies to Grumpier Old Men)

  55. Keith says:

    jacambece,

The DJIA went up 350% under Clinton.
    W inherited it at 10,600.
You are always shooting off your mouth without the slightest idea what you are talking about.
And Clinton inherited 7.5% unemployment and took it down to 3.9%.
And Clinton created 22 million jobs.
W created 2 or 3 million jobs. I have not found a definite figure.

  56. tombaker says:

rhf – you caught me. just happens to work with stunt and bunning oh-so conveniently.

glad someone got my subtextual jokestering.

  57. Keith says:

Under eight years of W, DJIA went from 10,600 to 8,100.

Under Clinton, it went up 350%.

  58. tombaker says:

Keith – it’s that witch-protection salve that jacambece uses – works good, but the vapors get in your eyes, making it hard to read numbers…

  61. Keith says:

    tombaker,
jacambece is in the debt collection business. He likes Repugs because they bring about hard economic times—more buck for him.

Kinda like cunning little runts versus little running….

  62. Keith says:

    tombaker,
I have seen the ceremony Gov. Palin had to protect her from witches. That’s true–compared to jacambece’s fantasy.

  63. tombaker says:

It’s going to be funny when all the debtors he wants to collect his paycheck from have declared bankruptcy and have no jobs.

Jaca may just have to go find a job that requires him to work for his $.

    “jacambece”, hmmm… Portugese for “parasite”?

  64. Robert M. says:

Here’s hoping the mess the republicans have made of the economy causes sufficient “incentive” for Kentuckians to wake up out of their stupor and toss bunning and his compatriots out of office onto their ear.

Not all of us voted for him or McConnell. I think you’ll find that many of us from that state chare your philosophical views. (20 yrs. away in the AF tends to broaden your mind and allow you to see the issues from a different perspective.)

    Wouldn’t it be ironic…

  76. Lora says:

Well, what else should one expect from a “distinguished” Senator who has publicly boasted that he hardly ever reads newspapers and gets all his news (or was it “nudes?”) from Faux News?

  77. cvkathy says:
