Bush charging $150,000 and private jet travel for speeches.

bush-stupid-small.jpgNow that Bush has officially joined the lecture circuit, it seems he’s seeking to make good on his hope to earn “ridiculous” money. The Dallas Morning News reports that he’s charging $150,000 per speech and demanding a private jet to take him to the speech venue:

President George W. Bush may have left office with a historically bad 22% approval rating, but he’s still eager to impart his wisdom — for $150,000 a speech.

The former president will charge that hefty fee per pep talk — plus first-class or private jet transport for four — when he hits the lecture circuit next month with stopovers in Canada, the U.S. and other spots around the globe, sources told The News.

He does give the locals a discount, charging Dallas gigs a scant $100,000.

    ____________

Here is how the former president is described in the Washington Speakers Bureau’s online catalog:

“President George W. Bush served in the Oval Office for eight of the most consequential years in American history. Faced with challenges from a terrorist attack to a global financial crisis, he made difficult decisions that will shape the nation’s course and world affairs for decades to come. His leadership after the terrorist attacks of September 11, 2001, was an inspiration to millions of Americans. His policies, while controversial at times, kept the country safe for more than seven years and liberated more than 50 million people from tyranny.

“Working with leaders in Congress and elsewhere, President Bush also raised standards and accountability in public education, added a prescription drug benefit to Medicare that helped more than 40 million beneficiaries, improved air quality and made America’s energy supply more secure, designated more ocean area habitats for environmental protection than any predecessor, launched historic efforts to fight HIV/AIDS and malaria in Africa, and strengthened America’s relationships with strategically important nations like India, China and Japan. He shares with audiences candid insights on his eight years in the White House, his experiences with other world leaders, the nature of public leadership and decision making, and a wide variety of domestic and international issues.”

$150k? I’d actually pay that if, say, I could get him to show up at my local county fair and sit in a dunk tank while people paid $10 to throw shows at the lever.

Either that or set him up in a geek booth where people could watch him bite the heads off live chickens.

I’d make a hell of lot of money off that.

It’s not so much the price tag on Bush’s services — after all, Dubya can charge whatever he wants — it’s that people are apparently willing to pay it.

If I was going to fork over that much money for a speaker, I’d want that speaker to be so inspirational as to transform my life forever in a positive way. I’m not sure Dubya is up to that.

But if his audience feels they’re getting their money’s worth, who are we to criticize?

from david rubenstein of the carlyle group:

“But when we were putting the board together, somebody [former Nixon aide and Bush family retainer Fred Malek] came to me and said, look there is a guy who would like to be on the board. He’s kind of down on his luck a bit. Needs a job. Needs a board position. Needs some board positions. Could you put him on the board? Pay him a salary and he’ll be a good board member and be a loyal vote for the management and so forth.

“I said well we’re not usually in that business. But OK, let me meet the guy. I met the guy. I said I don’t think he adds that much value. We’ll put him on the board because — you know — we’ll do a favor for this guy; he’s done a favor for us.

“We put him on the board and [he] spent three years. Came to all the meetings. Told a lot of jokes. Not that many clean ones. And after a while I kind of said to him, after about three years — you know, I’m not sure this is really for you. Maybe you should do something else. Because I don’t think you’re adding that much value to the board. You don’t know that much about the company.

“He said, well I think I’m getting out of this business anyway. And I don’t really like it that much. So I’m probably going to resign from the board.

“And I said, thanks — didn’t think I’d ever see him again. His name is George W. Bush.”

Bush was the President and Commander in Chief

He ignored dozens of terror-attack warnings and most especially the August 6th PDB. Neither he nor Cheney nor Condi Rice took any action to mitigate the threat.

The principle theme of his ;egacy—as touted during his “legacy tour: os that he “kept America safe”—ONLY AFTER HE FAILED TO EVEN ATTEMPT TO DO SO.
Bin Laden’s nutcases killed the nearly 3,000 in the world Trade Center, but Bush, being warned DID NOTHING to try and prevent those deaths, despite having the power and the information that could have reduced the death toll.

From your perspective if OJ Simpson hacked off the head of one of your family members and got away with it, you’d be perfectly happy to pay to see a movie about the event directed produced and starring OK, and you’d buy the action figure too because hey, so what, the guy has to make a living the best way he can!

I’ll show you some proof that George W. Bush is a murderer:

    http://www.defenselink.mil/releases/release.aspx?releaseid=12520

The Department of Defense announced today the death of three soldiers who were supporting Operation Iraqi Freedom. They died Feb. 23 in Balad, Iraq, of wounds suffered when insurgents attacked their unit using small arms fire. They were assigned to the 5th Squadron, 1st Cavalry Regiment, 1st Stryker Brigade Combat Team, 25th Infantry Division, Fort Wainwright, Alaska.

    Killed were:

Cpl. Michael L. Mayne, 21, of Burlington Flats, N.Y.,
Spc. Micheal B. Alleman, 31, of Logan, Utah, and
Pfc. Zachary R. Nordmeyer, 21, of Indianapolis, Ind.

All three soldiers were murdered by George W. Bush. They were placed in harm’s way, and subsequently killed, as the result of a war Bush fraudulently started. Therefore, Bush is legally culpable for each of their deaths. That’s just three of over four thousand murdered Americans Bush is responsible for, not to mention over 1 million murdered Iraqis.
