Tom DeLay Channels Limbaugh: I Want Obama To Fail

Just days before the Inauguration, Rush Limbaugh famously declared, “I hope [Obama] fails.” Since then, some conservatives have been hesitant to embrace this view. Pat Robertson said, “That was a terrible thing to say.” “Anybody who wants him to fail is an idiot,” said Gov. Mark Sanford (R-SC). Responding to Sanford, Limbaugh reiterated his position yesterday, saying, the “hell we don’t” want Obama to fail.

One of those “idiots” adopting Limbaugh’s stance is former House Majority Leader Tom Delay (R-TX). In an interview with ThinkProgress at CPAC today, we asked DeLay whether he agrees with Limbaugh’s statements. DeLay said Limbaugh was “exactly” right to root for Obama’s failure:

TP: Do you agree with Rush Limbaugh that we shouldn’t hope for President Obama to succeed?

DELAY: Well, exactly right. I don’t want this for our nation. That’s for sure.

Watch it:

ThinkProgress also asked DeLay if the conservative movement feels “liberated” now that President Bush is out of office. DeLay responded that conservatives feel “liberated because they’ve got an enemy they can focus on,” referring to “the left.”

It’s not surprising that DeLay is hoping for the President to fail; he has been slandering Obama for months. “I tagged him as a Marxist months ago,” DeLay boasted during the campaign, recalling his earlier assertions Obama had an “old school Marxist, radical liberal failed ideology.”

In a separate interview with ThinkProgress at CPAC today, DeLay said that Obama is a “con artist.” Watch the video here.

Sounds to me like DeLay is asking for a bullet from Joe The Chickenhawk Plumber.

  2. The Dogfather says:

Well, it takes a true con to recognize a con artist, don’t it?

Get thee back to jail, DeLay…

  3. spencers mom says:

Absolutely no surprise there! Delay is, has been and always will be a tool.

Anyone notice how vewy, vewy quwiet Mittens has been lately? Must be out hunting wabbits! Or would that be varmints?

  8. citizen_pain says:

Delay, that pesky pest control guy… talk about failed ideologies. If this guy were around during the creation of our country, I imagine Patrick Henry or Sam Adams would have kicked his punk @ss all over the 13 colonies.

  9. wiley says:

It apparently doesn’t faze him that his “enemy” is the majority of Americans.

  10. Zooey says:

Zooey channeling Americans with brains: I want you in jail.

  11. McWars says:

    Con-artist!?

Obama is under indictment for money laundering?

  12. citizen_pain says:

Wiley: Very good point. I’d love to hear his answer if a reporter asked him if people who support Obama are his enemies, doesn’t that mean that roughly 68% of the nation are his enemies?

  13. AlexM says:

Even if Socialism succeeds, they don’t want it, which necessarily means that ‘success’ for conservatives is defined how their political ideology would dictate alone.

  14. WAYNEBRO says:

Delay’s just upset because they couldn’t sucker the President into nationalizing the banks.

They tried to get him to do that so that afterwords they could convince people he was a socialist.

Their plan was to talk him into doing it, then deny they ever had anything to do with it. Even in the midst of soundbites of Lindsey Graham and other republican leaders calling for him to do it, they’d just do like they always do and say “nuh uh”.

And some percentage of their base would believe them.

But Obama fooled them, and now they’re mad.

  15. jpopphan says:

Where is chickenhawk Not-Joe-Not-a-Plumber with his gun? Chickenhawk and traitor Tom Delay is denouncing the Commander in Chief!! Think about the troops!!! Oh, the troops!!!!

  16. The Dogfather says:

McWars: maybe he actually meant that Obama is a corn artist — you know, making pretty pictures by gluing popcorn onto paper plates, like Tommy D. did in his 1st grade class this morning?

  17. McWars says:

Why is it taking the courts so long to set his case in order? It’s been nearly four years.

By “Mittens”, do you mean Mitt Romney? I had to avoid him on both FAUX and MSNBC.

  19. DRxJ says:

    Oh dear lawd!

It truly is the USofRL (United States of Rush Limbaugh).
    All Rush, all the time.

What, do ya’ll get free OxyContin baggies with the reach around for Rush boy?

  20. RUCerious says:

And anyone listens to a bug sprayer why?

  21. ctcadguy says:

    Who is Tom Delay?

  22. mary says:

Had to avoid Romney on both FAUX and MSNBC this morning I meant. Well, actually, I just turned off the tv when I saw his face.

  23. aquarius2 says:

First of all that should be “former INDICTED Congressman”. Who the hell cares what this indicted and disgraced Congressman has to say? DeLay is one of the most despicable people to ever sit in Congressional chambers. His rants on Obama are partially due to his overall sour grapes attitude for being tossed out on his ear. By giving him even a second of airtime we validate his existence. Delay is one of those political hacks that make my blood boil.

  24. livelongandprosper says:

DeLay responded that conservatives feel “liberated because they’ve got an enemy they can focus on,” referring to “the left.”

Always has to be an “enemy” for the conservatives. They are incapable of doing anything unless there is an “enemy”. At least that is what they want their base to think. They find it quite easy to manipulate a frightened populace in order to enrich themselves. Pathetic and child like.

  25. Fred says:

Looks like troll jk has joined delay in the circular firing squad. Make sure they have live rounds this time.

  26. Bob says:

An idiot agrees with The Idiot, what a shock. Sounds like republicans need to stock up on ‘I’m with stupid’ t-shirts. No group is so proud to be ignorant and backwards.

  27. krystalviews says:

I WANT DELAY TO BE INFECTED WITH LEPROSY

  28. livelongandprosper says:

I understand that John Kerry, the shit and run troll, hasn’t the foggiest idea what a socialist is or how socialism is a big part of what has made America a great nation. He also has trouble with the concept that a failed presidency is terrible for America, even with vast evidence over the last 8 years.

  29. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

Why is this man not in jail? Why does anyone give him the time of day, including TP?

Fortunately for us and unfortunately for Mr. Delay a large majority of people in this country disagree with him. And fortunately for us (progressives) that the conservatives have become so tone deaf they continue to shoot themselves in the foot on a daily basis.

  30. raynman says:

Darn the intertubes for actually having not only transcripts of what Rush actually said, but they have clips of him saying it. Otherwise, it would be easy to just say that he was misquoted, but only a real fool would fall for that nowadays.

  31. IgnoranceIsNotBliss says:

Why in the hell isn’t this man in jail yet?

  32. ralph the wonder llama says:

I trust Troll JK can provide a link to an authoritative source to prove his assertion?

Maybe b-cup will be along shortly to explain how, when Delay said he agreed with the statement “we shouldn’t hope for President Obama to succeed” he meant something other than what he said.

I sure hope so, because I wouldn’t want to labor under any false impressions based on what people actually said.

  33. mk3872 says:

Funny how the right wing nuts can never get excited about anything that is GOOD for people. Instead they have to focus on ENEMIES (the left, Obama, Pelosi, Reid, abortion, gun regulations). Kind of the party of slime, isn’t it?

  34. dbadass says:

    Hi John Kerry:
I realize I have offered up this item in the past but still. I have been enjoying poached monkfish in drawn butter, a mixed green salad, sashimi tuna with a ginger soy dipping sauce, and u10 cocktail shrimp. It’s all so good! Wanna chat?

  35. Yankeluh says:

I would rather see Delay fail to negotiate his path to the hot tub and fall face first into a wood chipper. Gee, is that hateful?

  36. tombaker says:

  37. MapleStreet says:

One measure used in court is the believability of the witness.

Of course, Tom Delay is beyond reproach and totally believable. Holy, I tell you. Just plain Holy.

  38. 666lattes says:

    John Kerry,

    A) What, specifically, is wrong with Socialism?

    B) If Rush is hoping that it fails, is that based on a fear that it may actually succeed?

    C) What is at stake if Obama’s policies fail?

    D) Why would this be better than if they succeed?

    I’ll wait.

  39. LividLib says:

Not if he pursues anything… I hope HE fails.

It’s too bad he wasn’t referring to you, Troll JK.
You fail on a daily basis.

  41. Sachem says:

The con man video at the end of the post really pisses me off.

  42. ralph the wonder llama says:

Troll JK, when I make an argument or a claim of fact, I usually try to support it with a relevant link to an authoritative source. I find this helpful in demonstrating the strength of my argument.

    You feel otherwise?

  43. ralph the wonder llama says:

dbadass, you may have noticed that our friend’s doctor has finally settled on the proper dosage. It appears that his Trollette’s is now under control, but he’s not as doped up as he used to be, so he can actually respond when addressed.

Next step is to get him to respond intelligently. I think we’re gonna need more help than Big Pharma can provide for this one.

Why does the JK Troll have to bold his posts? And the Great Rishie? Wow. Can’t even spell his hero’s name?

Yeah, but is cred really necessary for a tackling dummy?

And don’t discount JK’s “troll cred”. He’s got that in abundance.

  48. Fred says:

jk troll talks like he is posting from the playground.

  49. gummitch says:

    John Kerry Says:

Hey lib wackos!! If you’re going to quote the Great Man (Rush) I’d suggest doing it correctly!!

The great Rishie said that he hoped Brotha O would fail IF (anyone understand what IF means????) he pursues his SOCIALIST policy!!

    UNDERSTAND???????????

You can always rely on a dittohead to come along and explain what Rush “really” meant. It never fails (unlike Rush and JK).

  50. kasinca says:

Is DeLay out on parole? He doesn’t need to tell us he wants the president to fail. We have seen his work and he has always wanted the government to fail. As an exterminator in Houston he swore he was going to Washington to get even for them regualting he chemicals he used to kill bugs. While there he became one of the most despicable bugs on earth. Why do criminals like him, Rush, and KKKarl Rove walk the streets?

  51. RUCerious says:

llama, I used to push around tackling dummies smarter than JK!

  52. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    John Kerry Says:
Hey Llama Boy (aka Man child with no job!)
Uh, why not TRY and be a big boy and go to the great man’s site or search for it yourself. It will do you good. I promise. Same for all you other out-of-work children who’re still living at home with mommy!

Because the original quote is no longer on the “great man’s” site. Fortunately for us people downloaded it off his site before he scrubbed it. He version he is now peddling is the one where he said “I hope his policies fail”.

Too bad for Rush and trolls like JK that it’s very hard to hide something on the internet.

  53. kasinca says:

If the GOP is listening to Rush, John Bolton, Sean Hannity, Glenn Beck, Joe the Plumber, et al for advise on how to take the government over, they are surely lost in the wilderness.

  54. belac says:

    Troll JK:
    There’s no ‘IF’ about it…

Rush:”I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: “Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.” Somebody’s gotta say it.”

Where’s the qualification in that statement?
    “Troll JK: I have Failed.”

  55. Barbera says:

Is it any wonder that advertisers line up to spend money on Limbaughs’ show? 2 of 3 threads on this site alone are promoting him again.

Too bad I can’t buy stock in the Rush Limbaugh show, it would be one of the few investments that would actually increasing in value.

Is it any wonder that Sheldon Drobny tried to off himself after wasting money on Rhodes and Malloy.

On Sunday, Nova received a letter from Mr. Gaulin asserting that the contract with Ms. Rhodes was terminated due to material breaches and other reasons. Ms. Rhodes had not broadcast for over a week prior to this time, a situation which was diplomatically referred to as a “problem” that was solely within Nova’s control to solve. A few days earlier, Sheldon Drobny, founder of Nova M, and a co-founder of Air America Radio, attempted suicide and is hospitalized in Chicago.

I wish Mr. Drobny a speedy recovery in hopes that he can waste the rest of his fortune trying to compete with Rush.

What is so funny about this is that Mrs. Rommster has an employee who is her “jewelry coordinator”. She has no idea what expensive jewelry she had sitting on a shelf in her walk in closet (bigger than most apartments) so she can’t tell the police what is missing. Good luck on filing an insurance claim Ms. Rommster.

  64. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    Barbera Says:
I wish Mr. Drobny a speedy recovery in hopes that he can waste the rest of his fortune trying to compete with Rush.

Progressive radio is never going to be able to compete with Rush as long as 90% of our MSM is controlled by conservatives. If it were a level playing field, I’m betting you would find progressive talk competitive with conservative talks. As a matter of fact, Randi Rhode’s show in Florida regularly beat out Limbaugh, whom she went head to head with.

The people who owned Nova M Radio made some bad business decisions and over extended themselves. I fail to see how that was Randi Rhodes or Mike Malloy’s fault.

  65. McWars says:

    MANCHILD?

If an intelligent, fact-based poster using proper grammar and punctuation and appropriate use of caps and bold is child-like like in JK’s empty-skull, I’d hate to read his profile of an adult.

  66. belac says:

JK- your link is to the television interview he did walking the statement back… up above at #61 is the audio from the original broadcast…

Tell me where the ‘if’ is in the statement we have audio of at #61.

    Thanks.

  67. McWars says:

Oh, uh, JK, that remaining brain cell of yours has a message to relay: IT WANTS A DIVORCE. OUT. GONE.

No strings attached. Just leave a micro-size opening in your skull for the movers to arrive.

  68. Fred says:

  75. ralph the wonder llama says:

Troll JK, why do assume I’m not capable of finding the information?

All I said was I find it useful for my purpose, when making a comment that makes a statement of fact, to provide to others an easy way of confirming the truth of what I’ve posted.

You apparently find it less important than I do.

    I wonder why that is.

  76. McWars says:

How about that address by our commander-in-chief at Camp Lejeune, troll? It’s about time our men and women in uniform once again feel appreciated and part of a ranging process.

  77. Barbera says:

  79. ralph the wonder llama says:

I wonder why Troll JK didn’t bold this:

I disagree fervently with the people on our side of the aisle who have caved and who say, “Well, I hope he succeeds. We’ve got to give him a chance.”

    or this:

“Okay, I’ll send you a response, but I don’t need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.”

    or this:

If I wanted Obama to succeed, I’d be happy the Republicans have laid down. And I would be encouraging Republicans to lay down and support him.

    or this:

Why in the world do we want to saddle them with more liberalism and socialism? Why would I want to do that? So I can answer it, four words, “I hope he fails.”

    or even:

I’m happy to be the last man standing. I’m honored to be the last man standing. Yeah, I’m the true maverick. I can do more than four words. I could say I hope he fails and I could do a brief explanation of why. You know, I want to win. If my party doesn’t, I do.

Sounds pretty unequivocal to me, but then, I am a member of the Reality-Based Community.

we pity the fact that you have to resort to insults at your whim because you have no argument except for Rush’s…

We pity the fact that Rush has sold you on the class warfare his class is perpetrating on you and the middle class…

We pity the fact that you are so brainwashed that you can only come here and spout off Rush’s talking points…

  83. ralph the wonder llama says:

Perhaps I’m missing soething, Troll JK. can you point out where he said “if” in any of the parts you higlighted?

The only use of the word “if” that I saw was in the following sentence:

Why do we have to accept the premise here that because of the historical nature of his presidency, that we want him to succeed? This is affirmative action, if we do that.

Doesn’t sound like his opposition to Obama and his hopes for a failed presidency are conditional at all.

He explained WHY he hopes Obama fails, but he never said that his opposition was conditional in any way.

  84. ucsbclassics53 says:

oh and your faux outrage won’t work, JK. Your ilk claimed that any criticism of the war on terror as a failed strategy was paramount to treason and hoping the country would fail. Now you want to just brush off Rush’s comments as free speech? You did not have the decency to defend any criticism of the Bush crime family as free speech…don’t expect any sympathy for your views here…even though you’re free to spew them all you want…

  85. sectionop92 says:

  97. Dissentingorder says:

Both Limbaugh and Delay are past their prime. Tne only way they remain relevant is be being shrill and outrageous (and that hardly qualifies as being relevant). I saw this interview yesterday. It was quite disturbing. Shouldn’t he be in jail for something? I don’t exactly remember.

Mathews didn’t do us a favor by not running for office. At times in the past he has seemed very much like a right wing shill. Now I know he is. He fawned over this guy. Unblievable!

How Mathews can allow this un-american bullshi* to be aired on his show without questioning it is appalling. I will never again watch his program.

I have an awful picture of Repugs alternating with goats in one huge daisy chain. Tom Delay, then a goat, then Rush, another goat, JK with two billy goat balls slapping his chin…. until one huge simultaneous orgasm and Jesus emerges from the foam.

While it’s an awful picture it does explain a lot of Repug behavior.

It’s not a lot of fun listening to the hate mongers spread their propaganda, and it takes a great deal of free time to debunk their idiotic “facts”, but it is a fight every progressive needs to be willing to fight. Clearly, we removed Bush and Cheney from power, and we know how to confront this fascist takeover of the Republicans, but we need to keep a few things in mind.

We are supposed to be the good guys. While I agree that the wingnut trolls are beneath contempt, simply insulting them over and over is counterproductive, and its more like the way they do business than how I hope we will do business. What I am saying is let’s not be the ones that lash out with personal attacks.

I know it’s almost impossible to be the bigger person when dealing with the radical element of the Republican party, but if we are going to prevent Republicans from ever regaining political power, we need to show that we are better, not just in policy, but in demeanor.

(ironic – I had to be the one to post the poop-flinging thing right after Levi’s call to the High Road – color me George Costanza)

  108. ralph the wonder llama says:

Levi, thanks for your thoughts. I’m sure you’re right, there are too many gratuitous insults directed at trolls, but speaking for myself, I generally try reason first and if a conservative is reasonable, I enjoy engaging him or her in discussion.

Sadly, few of the dissenting voices here are reasonable, and most are simply here to, as tombaker correctly points out “fling poo”. Once this personality profile is established, they become game pieces in spirited bouts of Whack-A-Troll™, which is the official site-wide pastime here.

  109. dasm says:

DeLay responded that conservatives feel “liberated because they’ve got an enemy they can focus on,”

Really, these repugnant Repubs could not be more unpatriotic if they really worked at it– oh, wait, they already do.

  110. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Intriguing link, joe cantwell.

Did you notice that the Sheriff’s name is Mike Adkinson? Even though he seems to be a good guy, his moniker has an eerie ring to it, don’t ya think?

  111. Above the Clouds says:

Is that the same disgraced, run out of town, former Republican House leader Tom DeLay?

  114. Levi the Oracle says:

    128 Republican’s Hate Facts says:

Conservatives are INSECURE WEAKLINGS that take ANY SIGNS OF POLITENESS as a SIGN OF WEAKNESS. Giving them back their OWN SH*T and INSULTING THEIR STUPIDITY and IGNORANCE is *UNFORTUNATELY* the only CURRENCY they relate to. If you can’t lash back at them for their PERSONAL STUPIDITY they don’t even UNDERSTAND or RECOGNIZE your posts.

While I really *appreciate* your sentiments and wish that it were effective and true – alas it isn’t. Just like a puppy that’s sh*t on the floor, these primitive conservative lifeforms only understand when you shove their noses in their own sh*t. Sitting and talking rationally about why they shouldn’t sh*t in the floor is as effective for the puppy as it is for the CONservaTARD. IT ISN’T! ;)

You gotta understand, the wingnut trolls are not listening at all. They already know everything they need to know to speak. They are modern propagandists. The Republican Party has taken propaganda to a new height, using brainwashed zombies to deliver their message.

Unfortunately for the Republicans, the people most susceptible to brainwashing are not particularly intelligent. They have been told not to argue with anyone. They just deliver their anti-American message of hatred and intolerance, and they move on to the next web site to spew the same exact message somewhere else.

It doesn’t matter if you are polite to them or insult them. They aren’t listening at all. It’s like screaming into the telephone when the Republicans did their robo-calls for the election. No matter how many times I screamed that I would never vote for a Republican ever again, the calls kept coming because no one was listening.

I recommend that people try to refrain from hard core personal insults, not for the sake of the wingnuts, which deserve to be called every name in the book a dozen times, but for the sake of the progressives that want to be informed and active.

  115. Levi the Oracle says:

Levi, thanks for your thoughts. I’m sure you’re right, there are too many gratuitous insults directed at trolls, but speaking for myself, I generally try reason first and if a conservative is reasonable, I enjoy engaging him or her in discussion.

I have been playing Whack-A-Wingnut for the last 8 years. I wonder if the rules here are similar. The wingnuts are always massively outnumbered, and they are always wrong about everything. Everyone piles on the wingnuts, who feed off the attention like flounder off the shit of the fish swimming overhead.

No matter how many times you whack a wingnut, they will always claim victory, even in the face of overwhelming defeat. They make up “facts” whenever it is convenient to prove their point. They are not at all interested in logic nor are they ever willing to admit they are wrong.

Battling wingnuts online is, however, a necessary evil, because men of good conscious must do what is right. It is our duty, as Americans, to prevent Republicans from ever regaining any political power. It is our duty to confront their lies and hatred publicly, online. All I want is to watch the Republican party dissolve into a historical footnote without having to act like they do.

  116. nanlichi says:

Ok Levi, you have onvinced me not to talk about goats and JK in an endless daisy chain, that’s just sophomoric.

I too, have tried logic and persuasion with the freaks and it’s like beating a brick wall. I personally have more fun poking fun at them. Of course they are not going to learn anything, they aren’t here to learn but just to stir shit.

The psychology of a troll who comes to a progressive site day after day just to suffer abuse is a curious thing. I personally think that they don’t really believe in the crap they post, that it’s the abusive attention they crave.

So I am doing my Good Samaritan Deed for the day by feeding them.

  117. Bozo The Neoclown says:

why isn’t tom dalady in prison yet?

  118. the brown acid says:

  119. Dabb says:

Do we really, honestly care what DeLay says? He’s a has-been, wannabe now. Let him give his speeches at the no-class Repub PAC meeting. The repubs have nothing else to do but to criticize and make jokes about the President and Dems. They should be meeting to decide what they can offer this country that this country will accept. ooops….no strike that….keep on acting like fools, Repubs.

  120. Joe the Philosopher says:

Isn’t it sad that the Republican Party has degenerated into the Party of Ignorant Thugs? That’s PIT for short.

I thought Tom DeLay was in Leavenworth.

  121. telestai2 says:

    John Kerry Says:
    (anyone understand what IF means????)
    UNDERSTAND???????????

Yes, Jake [as in "jakes," the slang term for toilet], we understand what “if” means. It’s quite handy for making subjunctive statements, statements of possibility. I shall demonstrate our comprehension for you:

IF a grasshopper had your brains, it would hop backwards.

IF your brains were gunpowder, you wouldn’t have enough to blow your nose.

IF you had one more cerebellar neuron, you’d have a synapse.

IF your mother had had a headache that night, we’d be spared your presence on TP.

    UNDERSTAND?????

  122. telestai2 says:

    Fred Says:

Looks like troll jk has joined delay in the circular firing squad.

Is “circular firing squad” a synonym for “daisy chain” or “circle jerk”?

  123. telestai2 says:

    Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

. . . conservatives have become so tone deaf they continue to shoot themselves in the foot on a daily basis.

Actually, at cpac, it was a “delay” basis.

  124. telestai2 says:

    666lattes Says:

    I’ll wait.

latte, I hope you brought a good book. You’ll have a long wait. Maybe we should see if dbadass has enough sashimi to go around.

  125. telestai2 says:

    LividLib Says:

and I want DeLay and Limbaugh to die slow and painful deaths sooner rather than later.

Not me. I’d rather see them live a l-o-o-o-ng time, lose their jobs, lose their health care, witness the on-going humiliation of the rethugs, lose their pensions/retirement funds as a result of rethug policies, and spend their declining years dependent upon the social programs which they’ve striven to eliminate.

  126. marwick says:

It doesn’t matter what anybody “wants.” Obama is failing. Look at the stock market.

It doesn’t help that you were born yesterday.

Things have been speeding down the toilet for about 6 months.

  128. youtube says:

If He fails , what you care Rush Limbaugh, Nothing happens to you, it will happen to us, But we will not forget about you and we will hunt you down lol.
How stupid some people can be like that. They want President of his country fails so his party can win next election or whatever.

  129. telestai2 says:

Hello, Levi–glad you’re on our thread. I look forward to more of your postings!

  130. telestai2 says:

Levi, I do agree about the necessity to retain the moral high ground by not engaging in rethugulous tactics. But a lot of the “attacks” you’re reading now result from troll attacks in the past; TP bloggers VERY seldom start the name-calling. We DO enjoy troll-trouncing–but we’re up front about it, which the neocons are not (usually).

  131. telestai2 says:

levi says: You gotta understand, the wingnut trolls are not listening at all.

Levi, we DO understand that! TP gives us an opportunity to vent frustration in humor, lest that frustration turn to despair or hate. Jesting with our blogmates and jousting at trolls refreshes us: from our blogmates, we gain a sense of community across the nation; from the trolls, we gain an opportunity to vent through humor–and, in the venting, we progressives teach each other almost daily, as we’re an eclectic bunch.

My own already liberal horizons have been considerably broadened, have become better defined, and have gained an even more factual underpinning just in the couple of months I’ve blogged on TP. TP is an education!

  132. telestai2 says:

Battling wingnuts online is, however, a necessary evil, because men of good conscience must do what is right.

So must WOMEN of good conscience! ;)

  133. wiley says:

These guys have Whack-a-Troll down to an art and a science. Should have been here during the election campaign. I am forever grateful to this website for making me laugh during a campaign that was excruciatingly painful for me.

  134. Jane E. Schneider says:

JK’s idiocy forces me to post this again:

Limbaugh told his listeners that he was asked by “a major American print publication” to offer a 400-word statement explaining his “hope for the Obama presidency.” He responded:

“So I’m thinking of replying to the guy, “Okay, I’ll send you a response, but I don’t need 400 words, I need four: I hope he fails.” (interruption) What are you laughing at? See, here’s the point. Everybody thinks it’s outrageous to say. Look, even my staff, “Oh, you can’t do that.” Why not? Why is it any different, what’s new, what is unfair about my saying I hope liberalism fails? Liberalism is our problem. Liberalism is what’s gotten us dangerously close to the precipice here. Why do I want more of it? I don’t care what the Drive-By story is. I would be honored if the Drive-By Media headlined me all day long: “Limbaugh: I Hope Obama Fails.” Somebody’s gotta say it.”
    —————

“Liberalism is our problem”? When so-called ‘conservative’ policies got us into the mess we’re in, and which voters rejected in November.

So, yes, Rush Limbaugh said “I hope he fails” when asked about Obama. And his bullshite about ‘liberalism’ is just that, bullshite. And, yes, Rush Limbaugh is still a big fat idiot.

BTW, at this point, I’m just flagging JK automatically.

  135. Jane E. Schneider says:

So must WOMEN of good conscience! ;)

    Hear, hear, telestai2!

  136. dbadass says:

    Hi Jane!
What about you? Are you a fan of oysters. I only have bluepoint and Isd Creek but I have a lot…

  137. Jane E. Schneider says:

Sorry, dbadass, I’m not a big fan of oysters. Clams, crabs, scallops, shrimp, I’ll eat. I know this is a big heresy for you, but I’m not a huge seafood fan.

  138. dbadass says:

Well I was planning on doing crab stuffed shrimp some to use stuff in the freezer. Oysters are like a fresh bite of the sea. It is just a brine thing…

  139. Jane E. Schneider says:

Save me some of the stuffed shrimp, please? Don’t waste that on JK!

  140. dbadass says:

I have some absurdly large shrimp which really need to get used. I’ll set a few aside for the two fo you.

I borrowed the 7th series from a friend so when this one is over, I am to bed/

  141. Jane E. Schneider says:

dbadass, 7th series of….? Let me know in the ‘morning’.

  142. dbadass says:

    The Simpson’s of course…

  143. labman57 says:

    So much for “Country First”.

The GOP has no idea what it stands for, and their leadership is totally devoid of fresh ideas to present to the American public. So instead they use the “shotgun” approach to politics–randomly attack Democrats and their policies, desperately hoping to hit something, anything.

So far, they’ve mostly just hit air.

  144. WestCoastLiberal says:

Why the hell is ANYONE listening to DeLay and why is he still a free man? Isn’t he supposed to be in jail with Abramoff?

  145. E Z Rider says:

DeLay responded that conservatives feel “liberated because they’ve got an enemy they can focus on,” referring to “the left.”

What I don’t understand is America has had an enemy to fight for years. Poverty, health care costs, an out of control president, loss of jobs, taxes just name a few.
Why don’t they focus on those items instead of focusing on the Democratic party.

DeLay was a piecee of shit when he was in office and stinks worse now

  146. Wang111 says:

Tom DeLay properly roots for Obama’s failure if Obama does not seek prosecution against George W. Bush for hate crimes.

George W. Bush committed hate crimes of epic proportions and with the stench of terrorism (indicated in my blog).

George W. Bush did in fact commit innumerable hate crimes.

    Bush was absolute evil.

Bush is now like a fugitive from justice.

    Bush is a psychological prisoner.

Bush has a lot to worry about.

Bush can technically be prosecuted for hate crimes at any time.

In any case, Bush will go down in history in infamy.
