Santorum At CPAC: ‘Absolutely We Hope That’ Obama Fails, ‘I Believe His Policies Will Fail’

Just before President Obama was inaugurated, hate radio host Rush Limbaugh declared, “I hope he fails.” Though some Republicans have distanced themselves from Limbaugh’s sentiment, conservatives at CPAC have fully embraced it.

In an interview with ThinkProgress today, radio host Mark Levin and former Sen. Rick Santorum (R-PA) added their voices to the chorus of conservatives hoping for Obama’s failure:

TP: What do you think about what Rush said about, I mean, do you hope, should we hope that President Obama fails?

LEVIN: Yes.

TP: Yes?

SANTORUM: If…absolutely we hope that his policies fail.

“I believe his policies will fail, I don’t know, but I hope they fail,” added Santorum. Watch it:

On his radio show yesterday, Limbaugh announced that its is a “dirty little secret” that “every Republican in this country wants Obama to fail, but none of them have the guts to say so.” “I am willing to say it,” added Limbaugh.

At CPAC at least, more and more conservatives are “willing to say it.” Appropriately, Limbaugh will be the closing speaker at the conference tonight.

Transcript:

THINK PROGRESS: What do you think about what Rush said about, I mean, do you hope? Should we hope that President Obama fails?

LEVIN: Yes.

TP: Yes?

SANTORUM: If…absolutely we hope that his policies fail.

TP: Ok.

SANTORUM: Because, well, we, I believe his policies will fail, I don’t know, but I hope they fail, I don’t know. But I believe they will fail.

Well of course the reich wing of the American Taliban hopes President Obama’s policies fail, because it will remind them how wrong they were and how their policies hurt America/Americans under their Fuhrer, George Bush!

  11. Daddy-O says:

I will never forget, as long as I live, the awful feeling I got when George W. Bush took office illegally in 2001. Never. Ever.

But never did I ever wish he would fail. On the contrary, I wished fervently that the term would pass as uneventfully as possible, like his dad’s did–sort of. Except for Gulf War I. And the recession. And the CIA spook links. And Dick Cheney as SecDef.

    Never mind.

  12. Del Capslock says:

I’d be interested in pulling the thread on what they mean by ‘hoping he fails’. What do they think success would look like? The stimulus works, and the economy begins to recover? And that’s what they are hoping doesn’t happen? It’s one thing to say “I know this stimulus package will fail to meet it’s objectives”, but another thing entirely, to say you hope it won’t meet it’s objectives. That puts you in asshole territory, because it implies you would rather throw the country under the bus rather than see your worldview invalidated.
Perhaps that is the heart and soul of conservatism.

  13. hanshiro says:

If Obama succeeds, that will be a double whammy to the republicans; the democrats will succeed where they failed miserably, and a black man will succeed where a bunch of butt-kissing, corrupt, blithering white yes-men will have been a complete catastrophe.

It’s the republican’s only hope and their solemn credo: Don’t create a better product, create a mediocre, half-@ssed product and block progress on better products. If a better product does somehow get through, hope it fails and start rumors to discredit its achievements. Republicans cannot operate on a level playing field.

It’s the republican way; like bush, they are underachievers who want to appear superior without all the hassle of actually working fairly for it.

  14. Daddy-O says:

  15. Witch1 says:

    A reminder, we still can’t fix stupid…Blessings

  16. texaslady says:

Too bad someone doesn’t point out the Budget wouldn’t have to be so big if infrastructure, FDA, EPA hadn’t been underfunded for 8 years and now it is catch up, if we can. Wouldn’t you like to try and point out to these loons facts and see what they would say ? Like the deficit bush has left which has to be paid for in the next few years along with the Stimulus ?

  17. trapper914 says:

I doubt many will backpedal initially, because Limbaugh gives them cover. Thinking they answer to him rather than their constituents will be their undoing.

Look at the poll numbers. Obama was up among even Republicans in Kos’s latest tracking poll. If the MSM reports every time a Republican “hopes Obama fails,” I have a feeling it won’t resonate too well.

  18. kasinca says:

Ricky “man on dog” Santorum. Need I say more.

  19. barfly says:

“I believe his policies will fail, I don’t know, but I hope they fail,” added Santorum.

What ever happened to conservative certitude? For the past eight years, they were absolutely sure about EVERYTHING. Now that it’s all imploded, they fall back on, well we hope his policies fail. By saying they hope he fails, they are announcing they don’t know anything.

It’s going to be awfully hard to regain that certitude, now that we have confirmation that they’re ignorant.

  20. Daddy-O says:

hanshiro, you’ve hit a nail on the head.

The Republicans and their base–the richest of the rich, the CEO class–had a business plan. It was: To loot the Treasury with no-bid contracts, endless war, fearmongering, a new McCarthyism, etc.

The business plan had a shelf life. It was never meant to be permanent; most criminal activities are not sustainable.

And now their party is over, and we’re footing the bill. As much as they’re whining right now, they have proven one thing: Crime DOES pay.

  21. texaslady says:

Republicans, conservatives have one thing in common if you know them, it is fear that the big bad boogy man is coming to get them and only a strong dad will save them.
Well there have been boogymen from day one and you need to save yourself not depend on someone else. They are such cowards.

  22. kasinca says:

I never wished W Bush would fail but he did by doing all the things that president Obama is trying to do differently. Go figure. Wingnuts just are no that smart. Face it.

  23. hanshiro says:

    8. Max-1 Says: Anyone ever see Star Trek? Anyone ever see members of the crew hope Kirk failed?

Only once, off the top ‘o me head, and that was the episode with Ben Finney, where Kirk was framed for murder.

    My geek side emerges…

  24. hanshiro says:

…and of course, Ben Finney was out of his fcuking mind…

  25. Wulf says:

I’m not sure I understand how this is different from… well, anybody else in the world. We all hope our opposition fails. That’s what it means to oppose them. We all do that.

Don’t fault Santorum for wanting Obama’s policies to fail. Fault him for having bad policies himself.

  26. stateofthedivision says:

AT&T and Google are only big corporate sponsors for CPAC.

    http://www.cpac.org/sponsors.html

I find this ironic as both groups are in a position to spy on people. Recall how revolutionary protesters at the RNC meeting were treated? Police in riot gear and canes.

CPAC speakers inciting revolution eat cake. Welcome to America, the land of the bizarre.

  27. stateofthedivision says:

Optimize a system for one part, the whole is suboptimized.

Optimize a company for CEO executive pay, the firm is suboptimized.

Optimize a country for a political party, the whole is suboptimized.

America has abysmal leadership in corporate board rooms and our hallowed halls of government.

60-80% of people want business or the government to cover more health care. This isn’t new, it was that way for years under George W. Bush. Yet the current political will stands to be watered down by K Street lobbyists. A pox on the house of Santorum and all tribal leaders.

  28. kali90 says:

this is actually good for us… the more these idiotic Repugs and right-wingers spew out this “we want him to fail” message the worse off they will be politically, I think.. they seem to not be thinking about this too much.. but well, these guys have never been known to be very keen thinkers now, have they?? what a bunch of sore losers, I swear…

  29. spencers mom says:

I hope they continue down this path of anti-Obamaism because it is driving thinking people away from the GOOP in droves.

I was out getting petition sigs last night (off-year judges election here in PA) and carried along voter regs for new/change registrations. Normally, I only canvas Dem voters, but with judges, we need to get both Dem and Rep signatures to get on the ballot.

Each time I went to a GOPer door and they were willing to sign (mind you, this is just to get on the ballot, not a vote) I also asked if they needed to make any changes to their current registration and used address, phone# and party affiliation as examples.

By just visiting around 30 household, both D’s and R’s, I reregistered two R’s to Independents. I’ll take it, because it’s a first step and is the strongest indication that R’s are not happy with their party.

    PEACE

The question is how long the losses will go on?

I thought it was unpatriotic to criticize the president during wartime. At least that’s what these CPackers said for the last eight years.

These fringe lefties have short term memory when it comes to things like hoping for failure in Iraq. That was ok, though.

I don’t know anyone who “hoped for failure” in Iraq. That is stupid.

You hope for the failure of an opponent in a zero sum game — whatever they fail to achieve falls to you.

That’s not the case here. Electorally speaking, yes. But we’re talking about policies failing, not electoral campaigns. Our nation faces an economic crisis, thought by most experts to be unprecedented in the last sixty years. Obama is the man whose policies will be employed to try to stem and even reverse the damage. If he fails, WE ALL FAIL AS A NATION.

That is what Republicans are publicly hoping for and trying to achieve. The failure of the nation. Way to go, guys.

  39. unbelievable says:

First of all, for an architect, you’re not so with numbers. it would be 40 to 20%…idiot. But in responding to your piyash Jindal like point, the last president to have 667% of the people oppose his policies was, uhhhh bush?

  45. ralph the wonder llama says:

  46. TheAntichrist says:

Being a republican must be a sorry existence these days.

Watching the CPAC conference is like watching a display at Madame Toussards House of Wax.
Old white men pontificating about socialism. That worked so well for them during the campaign against Obama.

Perhaps that failed strategy might work now.

What’s that satirical definition of insanity again?

It’s equally sad that the most articulate expostulator of the republican philosophy is a sweet faced 13-year old boy.

I, for one, am glad that we finally have an unabashedly progressive voice in the White House.

Instead of redistributing wealth upwards, it’s being spread downwards.

Oh how its wonderful that the gop has so embraced limbaugh. The hater of americans near and far, a traitor to his own country that he wishes to see fall to its knees. The same traitor who screamed not supporting the war in Iraq as un-american and hateful toward the troops. So what if americans are suffering, its their own fault, right? This once great nation is being dragged down by the very people who claim to be its’ true representatives. We should all burn a flag in limbaughs’ honor, take to the streets and show your support!!! The name Benedict Arnold does ring a bell, but what the hell, viva la limbaugh!!!! Let hate rule america once again, let the our country fall to the waste-side, after all we have no shame nor dignity. And all while we make a few million to pad our wallets as we trample upon the backs of our own.

    “Nobody said this”?

So if I could find a single person who said this, your tissue-paper argument falls to pieces, right?

You really think overheated hyperbole is the way to go?

Ah, well, I guess if you’ve got nothing else…

  49. kasinca says:

I was always against the invasion of Iraq. I am a Vietnam Veteran and I have never wished the military would fail. Being against a careless, unnecessary, immoral invasion is not wishing it would fail, it is facing realiity. Wishing the new predident failure after the policies of the CPAC retards over the past twelve years of trying them, is stupidity. When you dig yourself into a hole, stop digging. The conservative ways did not work. They failed. We elected someone who promised to do something different. Live with it, retards.

  50. unbelievable says:

The Architect Says: Nobody said this during the heighth of the war. How come? Oh, Bush is an (R). My bad.

Do you dispute its central truth?

  57. Wayne A. Schneider says:

SANTORUM: Because, well, we, I believe his policies will fail, I don’t know, but I hope they fail, I don’t know. But I believe they will fail.

Barfly was on to a good point. A few days ago, conservatives were positive our country was headed into the crapper because of Obama’s economic policies. Now, they “don’t know”? Why don’t they know? I thought everything they were saying about the results of Obama’s plans were bad things, and now, what, they think it’s possible it just might work? It might work, but they hope it doesn’t? Well, if it might work, then what possible reason could they have to hope it doesn’t work?

TP, please have your people press them more closely on this issue. WHY do they hope Obama fails? (Or that his policies fail?) Have them spell it out, not simply infer it would be good for them. Make them come out and say exactly why they hope Obama’s policies fail. You’ve got cameras there filming them. And they’ve demonstrated in the past they have no idea what a camera does. (They must not know; they keep denying they said things that are on videotape, so they must know what a camera does.)

  58. kasinca says:

Architect – you along with us will be paying for the wounded from bush’s lies for a long, long time. Think about that when you are hoping for failure for our country.

And so what do you call bailing out the airlines and the Carylyle Group when bush did it back in May of 2008 ? Are you aware of who has major shares in the Carlyle Group ?

    ralph the wonder llama Says:
You hope for the failure of an opponent in a zero sum game — whatever they fail to achieve falls to you.

But it’s not just that. An opponent’s success in one arena is usually interpreted as overall capability, leadership, intelligence, etc. It’s a matter of large governing philosophies.

The GOP is stuck now with the fact that they have to blame the last 8 years on either a) bad governing philosophy, or b) poor adherence to it. Are they wrong, or were they hypocrites? If Obama does well, GOP is seen as inherently wrong and can’t recover as easily. But if he does poorly, Conservativism itself can be vindicated while most Bush and some other individual GOP politicians can take the blame.

Which should Santorum be hoping for?

  66. unbelievable says:

The sad thing is that the vast majority of the chickenhawks have never served themselves including the drunken AWOL W and his five deferment VP. We are paying for that war for so long and it was completely unnecessary.

  69. ralph the wonder llama says:

I made the point that if Obama fails, we all fail as a nation.

The Architect (like George Costanza’s an architect, no doubt — must be our old pal Tracy__5) offered the rejoinder that “nobody said this at the height of the Iraq war”.

One might presume from this that The Architect recognizes the truth of collective impact and thus, if a national effort fails, the nation as a whole fails.

Thus, one might further presume that The Architect recognizes the anti-Americanism of wishing for the failure of the President’s policies in a crisis.

Welcome to the Good side, Tracist!

America needs good schools, our education standard all the way to college is way behind other countries. We have an infant mortality rate like a third world country.
So, your republican policies haven’t done much, now have they ? But I totally get, a republican’s mindset, all for me and to heck with my neighbor.

  78. Wayne A. Schneider says:

The conservatives really do have nothing. They claim they “hope” Obama’s policies fail. Well, if they know what words mean, then they are admitting the possibility that Obama’s policies just might be a rousing success. (But they “hope” they are not.)

Now, when we try to point out that the conservative policies of the past eight years are what led us into this mess, they quickly shoot back that Bush wasn’t “conservative”. (Then why did they all vote for him?)

They are convinced, without any evidence, that conservative policies will work better. They “hope” that what they are calling “Socialist” policies don’t work, but they claim that conservative policies have never really been implemented in this country. So how can they be so sure that their policies will work?

Every time we criticize conservative policies (tax cuts for the rich, and for big corporations), they claim the policies weren’t really conservative. (They even claim Reagan’s policies weren’t, at times, conservative enough.) Yet they still insist that a more conservative economic policy is what we need.

What the conservatives fail to understand is that every time we moved toward what they want (even if we didn’t get there entirely), the country just kept getting worse and worse economically. The economic inequality in this country kept rising. I don’t have to “hope” conservatism fails; it’s already proven to me that it will fail.

    The Architect Says:
How can I answer an idiotic question like that, bob
    ?

Well Archie, (Or should I call you Jughead?) you could start by explaining why you people who so fervently believed that the war you people started in Iraq was so essential to saving democracy, our culture and humanity that you chose to pay for it by throwing away the huge budget surplus given to you by bill clinton and then borrowed the rest from the Chinese (who are communists by the way) and now are complaining about President Obama’s plan for the all of us to pay the bill you people incurred.

    Oh archie????

If you can’t answer my question now that I explained how, maybe you respond to one of my other questions…like who is the skank in the video you link to on YouTube, or why people who watch that video also like to look at videos of britnany spears naked?

  87. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    The Architect Says:

    The Architect Says:
Pointing out the liberals sudden patriotism makes perfect sense, to me.

You’re still not making sense. What exactly are you claiming shows “the liberals sudden patriotism”? And what did any of this have to do with the Iraq War? Please make sense. Otherwise, you’re just being evasive (like your slimy namesake, Karl Rove.)

  88. hanshiro says:

An earlier poster, (Rich H?) observing the idioti of the bush-suck posts, opined:

Ladies and Gentlemen, I give you, “the architect.”

    Socialism has never worked.

These fringe lefties have short term memory when it comes to things like hoping for failure in Iraq. That was ok, though.

Really? So, 47-67% of the people oppose Obamas policies?

Why can’t you make your own money?

    This is America….

    Time for your nap.

Pointing out the liberals sudden patriotism makes perfect sense, to me.

The subtotal of his “wisdom” is exactly that, “say the stupidest sh¡t you can think of.” No followup, no defense, no debate, no sources, just move on to the next ignorant talking point. This is what’s known as a time-sucker/energy vampire.

Anyone who still believes the crap that he’s posting doesn’t get that the public overwhelmingly rejected the republian party’s incompetence and wants them out. “Out, damned snot! Out I say…Yet who would have thought the GOP to have had so much crud in them?”

  100. hanshiro says:

He will not engage, only annoy.

Like all his republican brethren. Whiny, dumb as sh¡t and screaming for attention.

  101. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Hey, Architect,

Are you actually going to point to the vote for the Iraq War by Democrats as evidence that they supported illegally invading a country that had nothing to do with 9/11 just to enact regime change?

Are you aware that the Bush Administration lied not only to Democrats but to Republicans, too? They called Dick Armey into their office and told him that Saddam had suitcase nukes ready to hand off to al Qaeda. It was a total bullshit lie, but since they wanted that invasion come hell or high water, they felt that lying was justified to get it.

Tell us, Architect. Do you have <em?any respect for the truth?

  106. McWars says:

Ending the Christmas party for the rich (circa 2001) is “class warfare” if you get all of your info from the networks.

Milulski, Tom Daschle, & John Kerry among others on October 9, 1998
    February 28th, 2009 at 1:17 pm

That means BushCo was supposed to find out FIRST, dingleberry.

You really want to go this way, huh?

  113. Pennsylvanianne says:

Of course every member of the GOP hopes Obama fails. It is their only hope of ever regaing the White House and Congress, which they deem more important than helping save our country. Just goes to show the lack of nobility in these jokers — and definitely a lack of ideas and solutions to our major problems. Hate, lie, bash and terrorize. That’s all they know to do. Working together for the good of Americans? They won’t do it.
The GOP said it was unAmerican to criticize Bush in any way after 9/11, but says it’s OK to bash Obama now. Hypocrites. Other Pennsylvanians finally joined with me in recognizing Santorum for what he is and voted him out of office.

  114. Wayne A. Schneider says:

…to respond effectively to the threat posed by Iraq’s refusal to end its weapons of mass destruction programs.

A threat that existed only in the Bush Administration’s mind.

You do understand, don’t you, that this was all a lie? That Saddam did not have WMD? That the sanctions were working (even Sec Powell said this)? You do understand all that, don’t you?

Do you believe that the United States should have a foreign policy based on preventive war?

  115. ralph the wonder llama says:

I’m going to stay out of any buildings designed by this “architect”.

If they’re as well-designed as his arguments, they won’t survive a decent rainstorm.

  116. Bobwurst says:

Archie, you really are a jughead aren’t you. Congress voted based on falsified intel from your deserter in chief. But so what. You still won’t explain why you won’t pay for the bill for this war. If it was justified, then there’s even more of a reason why we should pay for it. Maybe you missed that part because you were cruising the rest rooms at CPAC looking for larry craig.

  117. Bob says:

The sore winners quickly became the sore losers and now the former Senator is hoping things get worse. Of course now the false accusation becomes claiming everyone against the policies of the past eight years was hoping for failure when the reality was hoping to be wrong but constantly being proven right.

I hoped to be wrong eight years ago thinking we’re headed for disaster, but I had no idea of such colossal failure on so many issues.

Sadly, the constituents that support these traitors will find vindication no matter what degree of success is acheived. They can’t see that their policies are what got us in this mess, so why would facts and reality change their minds in the future?

  118. shoeless says:

Archie seems to be under the impression that the Clinton administration invaded Iraq. What ’s matter Archie, aren’t you proud of Bush’s war anymore.

  119. Bobwurst says:

Hey folks, I’ve got bette things to do, so I’m going to leave archie in your more than capable hands. Please make it cry.

  120. hanshiro says:

    127. Wayne A. Schneider Says: I think Architect is trying to make next week’s edition of “The Weak in Review” on Rachel Maddow’s show. All his “arguments” are just that – weak.

It’s worse than that. Republicans have a routine, consistent pattern of trotting out debunked crap every few months to re-introduce it to those who don’t know they’re full of crap.

It’s a cheesy ploy and one that probably contributed to their being unceremoniously booted from office. It’s an old tactic to get people to react and see if they remember why the crap was debunked.

Next up: Clinton’s fault for 9-11, or something similar.

  121. McWars says:

Do you really want to play that deck of cards, troll, that we have walked in lockstep with the dems who voted for this disaster?

You do know that once the commander-in-chief is handed the authority to proceed with war, he/she has the authority to STOP the war?

After the massive blood-shedding, no timetable, no coherent strategy, Bush refused to order the troops home.

  122. shoeless says:

    ralph the wonder llama Says:

How long before the first troll is scheduled to interpret for us what they really meant?

Well, we have no idea to whom Santorum was referring.

SANTORUM: If…absolutely we hope that his policies fail.

See, Ricky used a pronoun. He could have been talking about anybody’s policies. There is just no way to know.

  123. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Architect,

None of the people you are quoting had first hand evidence that Saddam had any WMD, or any active WMD programs. Former generals whop went on TV were being told by the Pentagon what to say. (Fact.) Most Members of Congress (from either party and in both Houses) did not read the full, classified report on pre-war intel. Most based their public comments (the ones you are quoting) on falsified reports that exaggerated the danger for Iraq. Intel that suggested Saddam “might” be trying to do certain things was changed to Saddam “is” doing certain things. The intel they released was a bunch of lies and distortions, so any public comments (or votes for war) ased on those lies and distortions cannot be used as a sound argument that the invasion was justified.

But you refuse to believe that, so what’s the point in anyone listening to you?

    Like I said, “weak”.

  124. tombaker says:

Hook us up with some clips from “The Path to 9/11″, Mr. Architect??

  125. Bobwurst says:

    The Architect Says:
    But so what.

    bob waives white flag……:)

I was going to go but this is too funny to pass on. First of all, when someone “waives” something, they pass, or forego it. So yes, I am “waiving the white flag” in that I am indeed forgoing the ‘waving” of said flag.

  126. tombaker says:

Do you feel powerful when you pretend-win arguments on blogs, Mr. Architect?

    Really?

  127. Zooey says:

I can’t decide if it’s cute or just sad that the troll thinks it’s taunting us.

    :-D

  128. tombaker says:

    Kind of Exley-ish m.o., imho.

  129. Bobwurst says:

Archie, perhaps you could point to some place on the thread where you actually, rebutted a point. (And to save you some time, rebutting doesn’t mean replacing a butt).

  130. shoeless says:

Bill Cohen is a Republican. What do you expect from him? He was even more fooled by Bush’s lies than most. Again, Archie where did you get the idea that the Clinton administration invaded Iraq? I remember 1998 very well, and I’m pretty sure there was no invasion.

  131. tombaker says:

rhf – you think it’s muckdog?

  132. ralph the wonder llama says:

Tracist the “architect” thinks he handed someone’s ass to him?

That’s almost as funny as his claim that Democrats started the Iraq War.

But at least he recognizes that Republicans who hope for Obama’s failure are traitors to their country.

If he takes away that little bit of progressive wisdom today, we can let him have his other delusions.

  133. dbadass says:

Seems I am on the architect’s ignore list…
    Bummer…

  134. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    Architect,

You haven’t handed anybody’s ass to them. You haven’t intelligently proven a single thing you’ve said. All you’ve proven is that Members of Congress were sufficiently duped by Bush to support his illegal invasion of Iraq. And even when they did give him the authority, he was supposed to do certain things before the invasion which he refused to do.

The War in Iraq was illegal. Period. It was also completely unjustified. Period.

  135. tombaker says:

    selectively clipping quotes proves what?

nice parlor trick, if you run with a slow enough crowd, i suppose.

  136. Bobwurst says:

    ralph the wonder llama Says:
Tracist the “architect” thinks he handed someone’s ass to him?

Ralph, it’s a republican, it believes in the magic of it’s own words: if it says it, it must be true…

  137. barfly says:

    The Architect Says:

“I am absolutely convinced that there are weapons…I saw evidence back in 1998 when we would see the inspectors being barred from gaining entry into a warehouse for three hours with trucks rolling up and then moving those trucks out.” — Clinton’s Secretary of Defense William Cohen in April of 2003

    Kapow! :)

So absence of evidence = evidence?

    That one missed, Archie.

  138. Zooey says:

Well I can’t rotate my right foot in a clockwise direction while writing an imaginery 6 in the air but still I can mess with your head if I want to…

  142. shoeless says:

So now it’s John Kerry and Ted Kennedy who invaded Iraq. I thought it was the Clinton administration. Archie, you’ve got to stop shifting responsibility for the invasion of Iraq between all of these Democrats. You are getting everyone confused.

  143. barfly says:

    Trifecta!

On evidence provided to them by Bush. Strike two…

  144. tombaker says:

“messenger” is a bit of a stretch, for someone delivering years-old recycled news.

  145. Bobwurst says:

Archie still won’t explain why he’s a deadbeat who won’t pay his bills, regardless of whether the war was justified or not, or who supported the war or not, we’re paying for bush’s choices now and archie isn’t man enough to man up.
If he’s not going argue rationally the least he could do is provide us with more malaprops.

  146. McWars says:

    Kapow! :)

That would be the thumping sound of your remaining brain cell, “HELP! Let me out of here!”

  147. had enough says:

Wishing President Obama to fail is a wish for the failure of America.

How obvious is the hatred for America going to get from these righty whack jobs?

They just continue to give the dems more campaign material for election ‘10 and ‘12 with this wish for failure.

  148. barfly says:

Not to many people refer to Rove as the Architect, now that his party has been marginalized. His last prediction failed horribly – didn’t he plan on voters rejecting permanent war?

  149. spencers mom says:

Archie’s argument fails to reflect the lies upon which the Democrat’s lucid and thoughtful responses were based.

  153. gummitch says:

Not to avoid wasting time on a troll, or anything, but:

Reading Charles Krauthammer is generally a great purgative. Like a blind squirrel, he finally managed to find a nut yesterday and wrote a column that didn’t require him to froth and bay at the moon.

Obama made clear Tuesday night that he intends to be equally transformative. His three goals: universal health care, universal education, and a new green energy economy highly funded and regulated by government.
    [. . . .]

But just picking winners and losers is hardly sufficient for a president who sees himself as world-historical. Hence the carbon cap-and-trade system he proposed Tuesday night that will massively restructure American industry and create a highly regulated energy sector.

These revolutions in health care, education and energy are not just abstract hopes. They have already taken life in Obama’s $787 billion stimulus package, a huge expansion of social spending constituting a down payment on Obama’s plan for remaking the American social contract.

Obama sees the current economic crisis as an opportunity. He has said so openly. And now we know what opportunity he wants to seize. Just as the Depression created the political and psychological conditions for Franklin Roosevelt’s transformation of America from laissez-faireism to the beginnings of the welfare state, the current crisis gives Obama the political space to move the still (relatively) modest American welfare state toward European-style social democracy.

Of course, Krauthammer isn’t happy about any of this, but I think he presents a remarkably clear-headed view of President Obama’s agenda. And I like it.

Thanks for saying this so well Wayne. And when we all grow bored with Archie he will claim victory. Kind of like how the house republicans claimed victory when they voted in such a partisan fashion against the stimulus bill.

  160. angels81 says:

I’ve been reading all the posts and have a question for the troll. Archie, with all your BS about who said what when, I ask you… Were are the WMD? What happened? Did they all just disappear into thin air? It was bush and his necon thugs who said they were there what happened? Why was your fearless leader so full of shit? I’ll wait for your answer.

  161. Bobwurst says:

    Wayne A. Schneider Says:

This one doesn’t have a solid grasp on logic, or language, or math for that matter. In his favor however, he can spell better than most of his ilk…

  162. shoeless says:

This is a perfect example of how these right-wingers operate. Archie is blaming the Iraq War on the Democrats who were lied to, while absolving the liars in the Bush administration.

Now, they are blaming the homeowners who were taken advantage of by predatory lenders, and whose jobs were shipped overseas by greedy CEOs, while granting a pass to the corrupt a-holes who pocketed trillions of dollars from their ponzi schemes.

  163. alpuz3 says:

  164. tokin librul says:

I wanted (and still want) the GOPuke caucus to be struck with mortal paralysis.

Does that make ME a traitor?

  165. Wayne A. Schneider says:

And when we all grow bored with Archie he will claim victory.

Which would prove, Bobwurst, that trying to intelligently persuade us that he was right and we were wrong was never his “goal”. He’s just trying to drive us away. Sadly, he will succeed, because after a while, it just gets boring constantly proving him wrong. That’s his measure of “victory” – not in being right, but in being wrong enough to make people get sick of arguing with him. It’s a form of mental illness, and I hope he gets the help he so desperately needs soon.

  166. upside99 says:

The good news out of all this is that with the Rusher in charge of the Repug party, dittoheads like Archie will be the minority party for decades to come.

This is a perfect example of how these right-wingers operate. Archie is blaming the Iraq War on the Democrats who were lied to, while absolving the liars in the Bush administration.

It also claims that it’s patriotic to want obama to fail because liberals were unpatriotic when they wanted bush’s war to fail.

  168. Bobwurst says:

Tokin, if you wanted to see bush get shot in the head then yes, you are a traitor.

  169. Zooey says:

  170. shoeless says:

    Bobwurst Says:

What? It wasn’t Bush’s war! Bush had nothing to do with the invasion of Iraq. I heard it was Ted Kennedy and John Kerry who did the Shock and Awe thing.

  171. labman57 says:

The GOP has no idea what it stands for, and their leadership is totally devoid of fresh ideas to present to the American public. So instead they use the “shotgun” approach to politics–randomly attack Democrats and their policies, juvenilely call Obama names (”Socialist!!!”) in a feeble attempt to stir fear and hatred among the masses, desperately hoping to hit something, anything.

So far, they’ve mostly just hit air.

  172. angels81 says:

Zooey, He’s down on the ranch with his buddy George.

  173. Wayne A. Schneider says:

    alpuz3,

Thanks for providing the link that “Architect” was too cowardly to provide. The author’s argument proves nothing. If all those people quoted had done their own independent investigations and came to the conclusions they publicly stated, then there might be validity to the argument that “everyone thought Saddam had WMD”. But they didn’t, because they couldn’t. They relied on “evidence” provided by the Bush Administration, and that “evidence” was not objective. It was constructed for the purpose of duping people into believing that invading Iraq was necessary (even though it wasn’t.)

Pardon me, but I thought that domestic spending had in it list of priorities investment in our kids.

Indeed, the United States has for decades sought to play a more permanent role in Gulf regional security. While the unresolved conflict with Iraq provides the immediate justification, the need for a substantial American force presence in the Gulf transcends the issue of the regime of SaddamHussein.

I like (but often fail to follow) a “three strikes and you’re out” guideline: a troll gets two comments that are nonsense, baiting, attention seeking and after the third I switch from debate to whack-a-troll and/or talking about rather than to the troll. I do not want trolls banned however if they are giving us the opportunity to put forth our arguments.

(parentheses work well, too – it’s a signal that the comment is directed at the goodly posters and not the troll (and I think it means they can’t hear me, too)) aggravates them particularly, to know a back has been turned to them.

  198. angels81 says:

    From James Wolcott:

O, pray, let this be so.

At Contentions, a little birdie poops into Jennifer Rubin’s ear:

Here at CPAC a well placed source with knowledge of the Republican Senate Committee plans tells me that Larry Kudlow is “considering” a Senate run against embattled Connecticut Senator Chris Dodd.

Yes, the same Larry Kudlow who natters about “mustard seeds” nightly on CNBC and was the chief evangelist for the Goldilocks economy (a.k.a., “the greatest story never told”), and who, in 2007, following the Capitol Hill testimony of then-rookie Fed chairman Ben Bernanke, hyperventilated:

Senate Democrats like Christopher Dodd and Chuck Schumer kept harping about income inequality and wage stagnation, trying to change the subject from the excellent economic news and to pave the way for a tax hike on the top, most successful American earners. But wages are booming. And the rest of the inequality story is so much statistical illusion and faux arithmetic. (Just ask Washington economics scholar Alan Reynolds).

    [snip]

America’s bull market economy stands at the epicenter of the newly-capitalist world market economy. Therefore, it is no surprise that America’s stock rise is being emulated around the world. This is called economic leadership.

The reality is that non-inflationary growth and rising living standards are occurring all around the globe. For this, thank the spread of American-style, free-market capitalism. Some call it cowboy capitalism, but I prefer to think of it as prosperity capitalism.

Record wealth is now being created among a hundred million plus investors in the U.S., including union and public employee pension fund holders who are 60 percent invested in the Bernanke bull market. This, even though they rail against stock market wealth and business in general, and still don’t get it that their retirement wealth bread is being buttered by the fabulous expansion of the portfolio value of the ownership society.

Stocks are the best barometer of future business and economic health. They are signaling that the wealth of the nation currently and prospectively looks excellent.

    [snip]

The recessionists are wrong. The bears are wrong. The pessimists are wrong. The doom and gloom crowd is wrong.

We are witnessing the Bush/Bernanke boom. It is still the greatest story never told.

Let’s start a “draft Larry” campaign. If the RNC was actually stupid enough to support him financially, his loss would drain RNC coffers, and perhaps cause another repub candidate to fail, from lack of aid.

  206. ralph the wonder llama says:

A little troll post mortem, if you will:

Interesting evolution of the troll’s argument. He first complained that “Socialism has never worked”.

When that was demolished, he moved on to try to attack the notion that Republicans were unpatriotic for hoping for failure. He did this in a fateful way: by claiming that progressives all wished for the Iraq war to fail.

This wasn’t very effective, in that it indicted his own side and essentially acknowledged that Republicans who hoped for Obama’s failure were, in fact, hoping for the failure of us all. But he was committed to it.

Nevertheless, his next move was rather odd. Cleverly challenged on Republican willingness to wage war yet unwillingness to raise taxes to pay for it, our friend began producing cut-and-paste comments from prominent Democrats seeming to support taking action against Saddam.

The troll failed to note that these statements completely undercut his earlier assertion that the Left wanted the Iraq war to fail.

    So let’s review:

the troll went on the attack but soon inadvertently admitted that a) Republicans are traitors and b) liberals did not “all wish for Bush to fail”, while at the same time making no ground on any front, and posting one of the Top Five lamest troll responses of all time.

Quite a morning for our friend.

part of text of 2/28/09 address
… the part that has the righties panties in a knot:

I realize that passing this budget won’t be easy. Because it represents real and dramatic change, it also represents a threat to the status quo in Washington. I know that the insurance industry won’t like the idea that they’ll have to bid competitively to continue offering Medicare coverage, but that’s how we’ll help preserve and protect Medicare and lower health care costs for American families. I know that banks and big student lenders won’t like the idea that we’re ending their huge taxpayer subsidies, but that’s how we’ll save taxpayers nearly $50 billion and make college more affordable. I know that oil and gas companies won’t like us ending nearly $30 billion in tax breaks, but that’s how we’ll help fund a renewable energy economy that will create new jobs and new industries. In other words, I know these steps won’t sit well with the special interests and lobbyists who are invested in the old way of doing business, and I know they’re gearing up for a fight as we speak. My message to them is this:

    So am I.

The system we have now might work for the powerful and well-connected interests that have run Washington for far too long, but I don’t. I work for the American people. I didn’t come here to do the same thing we’ve been doing or to take small steps forward, I came to provide the sweeping change that this country demanded when it went to the polls in November. That is the change this budget starts to make, and that is the change I’ll be fighting for in the weeks ahead – change that will grow our economy, expand our middle-class, and keep the American Dream alive for all those men and women who have believed in this journey from the day it began.

    Thanks for listening.

So you’re arguing that it’s a matter of biology, and not a matter of choice?

Well, physiology, yes. I don’t think it’s “biology” in the sense of it being necessarily genetic. (Not necessarily.) I think it’s more like somewhere along the line, their fears took over their minds and they refused to stop, calm down, take a deep breath, and think. Every single one of their justifications for doing what they think we should do is based on an unsubstantiated fear that something that disgusts them might happen if we don’t do what they say. Some conservatives are, I believe, born with a predisposition toward letting their fears rule their thinking, but I think the rest are probably just bitter and hateful towards liberals. (Many of the more rabid right wing “thinkers” are former lefties, and they seem to have the most hate-filled rhetoric. Think David Horowitz and his ilk.)

Something went horribly wrong (as in anti-social, or psychotic) in their heads, and they started believing in Conservatism.

Not quite, barfly. I believe that there is no “one size fits all” explanation for why people become conservative. Some are born with a genetic pre-disposition to let their fears rule their thinking, and some started thinking that way because of something traumatic in their lives (physically or emotionally).

Whether they were born that way, or came to be that way later in life, there is something wrong with them. Either way, they are letting their fears do their rationalizing for them, and that’s why they are always wrong. And that’s why Hope will win in the end.

Maybe I should have just done a little crack like Obama??? I could perhaps see that utopian run government you all do.

Till then, I will keep my money, guns and bible in safekeeping till you try to take them.

Oh and by the way…I am a 29 yr. old Conservative (not a thawed out 50 year old)- the son of an alcoholic father – payed for my education through military service and waiting tables – worked my ass off and now am in the tax bracket that Obama calls rich.

In addition to funding the interstate highway system and other federal transportation programs, it sets a new record for pork-barrel spending, earmarking $24 billion for a staggering 6,376 pet projects

    (via Americablog)

A new nationwide study (pdf) of anonymised credit-card receipts from a major online adult entertainment provider finds little variation in consumption between states.

“When it comes to adult entertainment, it seems people are more the same than different,” says Benjamin Edelman at Harvard Business School.

However, there are some trends to be seen in the data. Those states that do consume the most porn tend to be more conservative and religious than states with lower levels of consumption, the study finds.

“Some of the people who are most outraged turn out to be consumers of the very things they claimed to be outraged by,” Edelman says….

The biggest consumer, Utah, averaged 5.47 adult content subscriptions per 1000 home broadband users…

Eight of the top 10 pornography consuming states gave their electoral votes to John McCain in last year’s presidential election – Florida and Hawaii were the exceptions. While six out of the lowest 10 favoured Barack Obama….

Residents of 27 states that passed laws banning gay marriages boasted 11% more porn subscribers than states that don’t explicitly restrict gay marriage….

States where a majority of residents agreed with the statement “I have old-fashioned values about family and marriage,” bought 3.6 more subscriptions per thousand people than states where a majority disagreed. A similar difference emerged for the statement “AIDS might be God’s punishment for immoral sexual behaviour.”

Let me just add, BAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHAHA! Anyone surprised?…anyone?….

  317. curmudgeon says:

The closing words of Lincoln’s Gettysburg address: “…and that government of the people, by the people, for the people, shall not perish from the earth.”

Fast forward to July 27, 1988, when Ronald Reagan, addressing the Future Farmers of America, remarked, “The ten most dangerous words in the English language are ‘Hi, I’m from the government, and I’m here to help.’”

So, we are to be afraid of a government which is “of the people, by the people and for the people”? And at the same time, we are told to have no fear of megacorporations whose only concern is maximizing profits, regardless of the cost to others?

A government that is “of the people, by the people, and for the people” is only considered dangerous by those whose interests are diametrically opposed to those of the people. The anti-people crowd were duly recognized during George W. Bush’s comments on October 20, 2000, about the “the haves and the have mores. Some people call you the elite. I call you my base.” For a refresher, go to: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=mn4daYJzyls

    Food for thought:

“Where the people fear the government you have tyranny. Where the government fears the people you have liberty.” — Thomas Jefferson

“The shepherd drives the wolf from the sheep’s throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty.” — Abraham Lincoln

Translation for the latter quote: “The shepherd (i.e., those who truly represent the people who elected them) drives the wolf (i.e., the elite, whether they are wealthy individuals, corporations and/or goverment officials using their position to enrich the other two) from the sheep’s (i.e., the people’s) throat, for which the sheep thanks the shepherd as his liberator, while the wolf denounces him for the same act as the destroyer of liberty.”

That seems to be their only plan for anything. If their is a reasonable republican on this thread, I’d like to hear your point of view for what the republicans’ vision for our country really is. I distinctly recall standing in front of the television and watching the first bombs fall in Iraq. I believed and continue to believe that this was in unnecessary, ill-advised war. At the time, the President and his administration led the nation to believe that American troops would be wecomed as liberators (reminiscent of the end of WWII), the fighting would be brief, and that putting Iraq to rights would result in commercial activity (mostly sales of oil) so bountiful that Iraq would have money to spare and would be able to repay the US for the expense of liberating their nation. Predictably (but sadly), things didn’t quite turn out this way.
As the first bombs fell, Mr. Architect, I prayed that Mr. Bush and his advisors had information and wisdom I lacked, that some good would come of the war, and that our country would continue to live up to our hoped-for image of promoting and defending liberty within our borders as in the world. As much as I believed and still believe this war was the wrong choice, I hoped for success. Why would I do this? Because failure would hurt my country. And it has.

Limbaugh, Maykin, and other right-wing extremists would wish to see countless additional Americans lose their jobs, their retirement savings, and their homes, or witness more innocent lives lost at the hands of political extremists, merely so that they could sit back and gloat and the GOP would have a better chance of winning seats in Congress in the next 2 election cycles.

    Bush was absolute evil.

Why is it the stupidest people imaginable think only THEY are patriots. I mean besides the FACT they, like YOU, are bone ignorant? Oh thats right Rush told them so. Go soak your head. It wont give you any much needed braincells but it might make you feel better.

  453. Truth is not relative says:

President Obama’s policies on defense, economics, health care, taxation, international relations, and morality are so wrong, and the results, if his policies are enacted with a complicit Congress, will be so devastating, that in 40 years, it’s likely you will have difficulty finding anyone who admits to voting for him. Spew all the vitriol you want now; time will tell.

  454. Rick J says:

Hey let’s not get to excited. This new Prez told you exactly what he was gonna do if elected “Bring Change.” And that is what he and the Dems are doing. Within a year the United States will be a Socialist country simular to what you see in Venezuela. Banks, Auto industry, Big Oil, all large processed food manufacturing and of course media will be nationalized. And by then the House and Senate will be pushing to reverse the Constitutional admendment concerning “term limits,” ala, Hugo Chavez. Soon, anyone who opposes or speaks out against this administration will find it harder and harder to hold a job, bye gas, allowed to have kids in school. Already the Obama adminstration has eliminated school vouchers funding for Wash DC kids which has allowed them to go to private schools. Obama said he would bring change. Well he is bringing change. Get use to it. You ain’t seen nothing yet.

  455. yeswewill says:

The “Rush Gush” will get old and fast.

Most of the party are middle class folks, like myself, who can recall when one working parent homes were sustainable. When the average family had the ability to vacation & save money to boot.

    Not so today.

Many of us are awakening to the assault on the middle class under the Republican rule of the past 28 years.

The “Gushers” like this joker are the front line soldiers in the war on the middle class.

  456. cptpettigrew says:

Welcome to the new U.S.S.R., the United States Socialist Republic, and our “Great Leader” Chairman Obama, Commissar Biden, and the head of KGB Deputy Holder. No guns, no press (only Pravda), and no dissent, or else GULAG for you !! This is the “Change” you can believe in, tovarich (comrade).

OK we get that you are stupid. We understand you are a moron that lets radio screechmonkeys do your thinking FOR you. What I want to know is are you so delusional that you think these ignorant baseless assertions become true just because you say them or post them? I mean you do know you are a moron dont you?

  458. EugeneDebs says:

    cptpettigrew Says:

You ignorant brainwashed morons ought to read the newspapers. I know Rush didnt tell you but the cold war is over. You could find someone with a normal IQ to look it up for you. See we arent socialists. YOU are fascist idiots but that doesnt make us socialists. Try to rent a clue before you return to embarass yourself again.

  459. EugeneDebs says:

Where did the troll explostion come fron and how in the world did so many of them get SO stupid?

  460. lolmar says:

“Its has just been two months and and these idiots are bashing President Obama for what george junior left behind. Pres. Obama has done more in two months than what george junior destroyed in eight years. These guys are real losers along with the rest of cpac. They really have no purpose in this administration or the next.”

I’m just curious, will this be the standard excuse for the ENTIRE 1 term, or will it be switched to “its Reagans fault” later? All aboard the failbama express!! Next stop, bottom of the cliff!!

  461. dbadass says:

Truth is not relative? That’s a bold yet unsupportable stance

  462. brmx says:

Chimps are dangerous. We’ve had a chimp running amok in the white house for the last eight years throwing feces everywhere and on everything. Apparently Santorum and the chimps other Republican trainers are just going to sit on the sidelines and take pot shots while Obama and his team step in and attempt to clean it all up.

  463. Overit9 says:

These CPAC extremist nut cases want the US to fail to they can “rescue” the country. HELL NO. They’re neo-fascists disguised in suits and ties. And they’re getting more desperate daily. They want the US to fail. They’ve exposed themselves as being Unpatriotic and unAmerican. Their true colors are apparent for all to see. They’re spewing toxic waste every time they speak ,write or communicate any sad, small warped idea /belief /thought. And they have NO original ideas/solutions to correct problems in the US. That is pathetic. And shows they have no relevant place in the discourse of current American life.

Well that’s what all of you said about the last president so I don’t see why I can’t say it about this president.

Unless you’re all racists of course.

  467. killermoose says:

I thought the GOP slogan during the election was “Country First”. I must have missed the bit after that saying “Unless We Lose… Then Screw the Country”.

  468. breadline1 says:

rush the fat ass bimbo is a dope headed nazi who without daddys money would be totally unknown to anyone except his drug dealer. why any business firm would pay him to run his sh3t spewing mouth is beyond me. what amazes me even more though is that anyone in america would take anything that comes out of his dope injesting trap seriously. he’s the kind of mental defect that if he could would argue with god that the color scheme of earth was too liberal. eat drugs and die, rush! make the world a better place for the rest of us!!

  469. baldyross says:

As usual coolade drinkers take everything out of context.
The context is, “we hope Obama fails in his push to socialism”. Who cares though, drink up.

  470. lm945 says:

GOP Plan A: Do everything possible to sabotage the stimulus, while vociferously crying how bad it is and hoping it fails. They will then ride in on their white horses, rescuing America from the evil Democrats, gaining for themselves a majority and dominance in Congress and control of the White House for all time.

GOP Plan B when the stimulus succeeds: Vociferously crying as they spend the next 40 years wandering the wilderness, wondering what happened.

  471. jj15683429 says:

You brainwashed dem’s are the worst hypocrits that ever existed! It was you and your news media cronies that sabotaged (often outright traitors), lied, conspired, and much much worse from the day your precious Gore LOSSSTTTT his bid to be president. And even in that election, there were an estimated 395,000 who voted for Gore that were either DEAD, voted twice or created fake ballots and fake HANGING CHADs. Talk about hypocrits being covered with slime and crap screaming about someone else who has a dirty shoe because they stepped in some of your s%%%!

  472. jj15683429 says:

And who among you are soooo clean?? You idiots are too blind to understand that THE CONTEXT WAS THAT HE, AND ALL NON-SOCIALISTS, HOPE THAT OBAMA’S AND THE PELOSI-REID CAMP EFFORTS TO CONVERT THE U.S. ECONOMY AND GOVERNMENT TO 100% SOCIALISM WILL FAAAAIIIILLLL! Can that be made ANY CLEARER??

  473. rclakeman says:

It’s amusing really, you’ve spent 8 years hoping bush failed, now suddenly it’s un american to disagree with the President’s policies? I’m not rich, I’m barely middle class, and I’m a Republican. Obama’s policies will fail, they must fail, or we will have taken the final steps toward socialism. The stimulus package isn’t going to stimulate anythng but a prolonged recession, it’s economics 101. The only way out unfortunately is to let the market bottom and regroup. We are simply throwing good money after bad right now. Health care? The government can’t run anything effeciently and health care is no different. Hell, look at Medicare and multiply by 100. Obama’s agenda is to take from the supposed rich and give to the poor. There’s a name for that isn’t there? and it’s not Democracy. Do I hope Obama fails? Hell ya. Do I hope America succeeds? Double hell ya!!!

    RC Lakeman

  474. frenterprz says:

All of you Democraphead kool aid drinkers need to be rounded up and institutionallized. Obama will ruin this country and when people have had enough, you better choose the right side.

You Liberal idiots think your the anointed ones but all of your hateful posts here show two things.
    1) Your all full of hate.

    2) Your all scared.

We Conservatives aren’t going anywhere. The country will need us to repair the damage you Liberal morons are causing.

    Deal with it.

  477. Politicians R Corrupt says:

Does anyone believe that the Obama Plan will work? Just because he says so? You need to dig deeper behind the media propaganda.Even the CBO Congressional Budget Office report from 1-1-09 says it is not a good idea. Do you really believe 3-4 million jobs will result?
Go back a few years ago and did you also beliveve it was right to invade Iraq…did you believe there was weapons of mass destruction…I for one did not believe this and wrote to the newspapers and my elected officials.Any one who opposed the war was painted as un American…99% of our elected officials were spineless and did not oppose Bush. So now you believe Obama….Go ahead and drink the kool aid and keep watching ESPN….ZZZZZ
Bush did a horrible job with the economy but to now double our national debt is not the way to fix it. Markets will correct themselves in time. No amount of fed $$ will correct any faster. All of us and our kids are just going to pay for this down the road in 10 years and the situation will even be more dire.
The US government was not created to take take care of you and me financially.

  478. frenterprz says:

Mollyrambo57, looks like you have been under the influence of kool aid for too long. It is not a matter of IF Nobama fails, it is just matter of when. You can go back to rocking in your chair and sucking your thumb now.

Too bad these guys haven’t tasted the bread from a bread line yet…but they will
