This morning on Fox News Sunday, Chris Wallace welcomed Sen. John Kyl (R-AZ) and Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) to discuss President Obama’s budget plan — with not a single congressional Democrat or White House representative present to defend it. Predictably, Kyl and Ryan attacked Obama’s budget (Kyl called it “terrifying”); Fox News gave Obama’s critics an 15-plus minute opportunity to slam the budget without interruption.

Later in the show, Fox News panelist Juan Williams defended parts of the plan — but only after Bill Kristol, Brit Hume, and Chris Wallace alternated taking shots at it.
Any media outlet that needs to continually proclaim itself to be “fair and balanced”; isn’t.
March 1st, 2009 at 10:46 amOh how shocking… **sarcasm (TP with more breaking news!)
March 1st, 2009 at 10:48 amActually, I’m not that concerned. The only people who watch FauxNews are the republitard 20%. Bringing on rationale, thinking Dems would probably make their viewers’ heads explode – and Obama would get the blame!
It’s like an atheist going on Smitin’ Pat Robertson’s 700 Club – the people you’re talking to don’t have enough brain cells to entertain different points of view.
March 1st, 2009 at 10:50 amOn a related matter, I found this today:
http://www.democraticunderground.com/discuss/duboard.php?az=view_all&address=389×5158396
Santelli’s rant on CNBC last week looks like a carefully laid plan by the rightwing which launched a “tea party site” started last year by the producer of a rightwing radio show (one which advanced the false Obama-Ayres connection) and seems to have been lying in wait for the opportune moment.
March 1st, 2009 at 10:57 amFrom Paul Krugman, who actually knows what he’s taking about:

I’m fully convinced after watching Bill Maher’s Religulous that if tehir parents had not informed them otherwise, that half the population would still believe in Santa Claus.
Glad education reform is one of Obama’s top 3 priorities after the current crises.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:01 amOk, so Fox News wants Obama to fail, his economic policies, social policies, foreign policies.
Reublicans have put forward only this: permanent tax breaks for the wealthiest segment of our society; abstinence only sex education; total ban on abortions; total ban on gay marriages; bomb the hell out of any country that doesn’t do out bidding (on borrowed, off-budget funds); no-bid contracts with no oversight; no regulation of the “free-market” but finance market failures with tax dollars which will be collected sometime in the future.
We are living the effects of the Republican Plan now. If they continue to get thier way, how does Fox expect to stay in business?
At some point, borrowing againt future tax dollars must grind to a halt. As jobs continue to be lost, fewer and fewer taxpayers must shoulder a greater and greater burden, just in reimbursing the “free market” for its failures. Eventually, that burden will be unsustainable, and the United States will be in default.
So, Fox News, Rush Limpbaugh, and the Republican Leadership which have joined Limpbaugh’s “ditto-heads” what are you going to do if you succeed and this country fails? Take the money and run?
March 1st, 2009 at 11:03 amThe wingnut brigade: When a party is in power the past eight years and controlled congress the majority of those years and ran the economy into the ground and over a cliff, they are surely experts to disagree with trying to go a different direction. FAUX has absolutely no credibility and that is why I never watch any of the fools they have on that comedy channel.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:04 amWhat these talking heads are actually upset about is that Obama’s budget makes health care, education, and alternative energy a priority. We know they all own stock in health insurance, legal drugs, gas companies, oil, and for-profit education.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:05 amI’m fully convinced after watching Bill Maher’s Religulous that if tehir parents had not informed them otherwise, that half the population would still believe in Santa Claus.

I’m guessing that you don’t want the news about the Tooth Fairy and Easter Bunny then? ;)
March 1st, 2009 at 11:09 amThere is a growing chorus of parrots of the rightwing who are calling for Obama to fail – they ignore that if Obama fails, so does America.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:14 amNot so long ago anyone who disagreed with the president was labeled a traitor, even though those critics never wished for him to fail – they were critical of his policies. Today these loudmouths are true traitors calling for the failure of America to survive this challenge today.
What do they think they will do with their money?
Thank you for watching Chris Wallace for me; I just wouldn’t be able to do it. I have such a visceral reaction to seeing his smirking simpering face; he’s right up there with the worst of them. It stuns me that anyone could watch him and believe they were being told the truth. Could the 20%-ers who still support the Republican Party actually appreciate being lied to? It’s hard to believe that the ‘willing suspension of disbelief’ can actually be stretched this far.
We’ve got to find a way to take the microphones away from these frauds. Let them stand on soap-boxes in one corner of the park and be ignored. There is a right to free speech, but there should not be a universal license to broadcast.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:18 am“What we have here is a failure to communicate” the real budget because Obama has had the BALLS to include the Boy Emperor`s Failed War in Iraq and Afghanistan cost and other failed policy`s of the Boy Emperor.

March 1st, 2009 at 11:22 amFrom the original source:
“Within hours of Santelli’s rant, a website called ChicagoTeaParty.com sprang to life. Essentially inactive until that day, it now featured a YouTube video of Santelli’s “tea party” rant and billed itself as the official home of the Chicago Tea Party. The domain was registered in August, 2008 by Zack Christenson, a dweeby Twitter Republican and producer for a popular Chicago rightwing radio host Milt Rosenberg…

March 1st, 2009 at 11:24 amit’s bound to get better… did i just hear george say that kkkarl rove was part of the panel???
Typical libtard stoopidity. You libs prolly want the gubmint to give out candy on Easter! You want to socialize jellybeans and put a hardworking entrepreneur like the Easter Bunny on welfare!!!
March 1st, 2009 at 11:28 amyup… there’s the slug rove…
March 1st, 2009 at 11:32 amat least katrina is there as a perfect foil…
Maybe at last I can get some folks onboard about my corncerns about the War on Easter…
March 1st, 2009 at 11:33 amYes, Katy, it’s disgusting. We need to strip these people of their credibility. This is why Karl Rove needs to go to jail for his defiance of a subpoena. This is why we must prosecute the criminals in the Bush administration. The words of convicted felons aren’t given the same credence.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:33 amYou can take away Santa Claus, the Tooth Fairy and the Easter Bunny, but keep your dirty paws off of the Leprechuans. Any attempts to mess with them will be at your own risk. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED!!

You’re right PW. Juan Williams is another strawman like Alan Colmes. He’s there to offer a weak, tepid, counter-arguments to the idiocy spewed by the rest of them – to temper a tiny bit of the most hyperbolic and thereby legitimize the rest of lies. I can’t stand the sight of him. He’s sold his honor for dirty money.

March 1st, 2009 at 11:47 amThis is all just a circle jerk of hot air. Here’s why -
No one, even the staunchest repuglycan, when unemployed, is going to turn down the jobs created by this program.
Then, they’re going to spend the money they earn.
So, this program is going to work. It may take a year or two, but we’ll recover.
Then these wuckfits will be saying it would have turned around anyway, business cycle, blah blah ad infititum.

March 1st, 2009 at 11:53 am“While Easter is Clearly Christian, I believe the Easter Bunny is Secular.”
The rabbit is secular, but the label of “Easter Bunny” is definately religious.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:55 amIf you google it, you should find that the “Easter” bunny was part of spring rituals by pagans as far back as recorded history. Much like the “Christmas” tree, wreath, etc.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:56 amSo, Mr. Badger, if Easter Bunnies are secular, are Badgers Buddhist?
March 1st, 2009 at 11:56 am“Vernal Equinox Bunny” would be secular.
March 1st, 2009 at 11:57 am“Easter Bunny” definately is not.

Sorry, I was channeling a conservative there for a moment. But I’m okay now. Whew. :)

March 1st, 2009 at 11:59 amBut they were not called CHRISTMAN before the supposed birth of Christ, correct. So when used in that context they are relgious icons.
rove is a very rude interrupter of discussions… he tried hard to bulldoze through it, but, as i’d hoped, katrina did a masterful job of keeping it real…
i hope she recovers… that had to be draining, even sharing space with that horrible creature…

March 1st, 2009 at 12:00 pmMillions of people pay Federal taxes weekly or bi-weekly from their payroll taxes. They expect Government to institute policies which will help enrich their lives — not reduce monies for school programs such as drivers’ ed, shop, home economics, drama, gym, school lunches, books, and even toilet paper. Anyone over 40 had the advantages of these good school programs which have now become defunct. This is not how good Government should treat their young people while spending billions of dollars on killing machines and wars. These Federal taxes individuals pay into should be then given back to them by investing in good roads, bridges, sewer and water systems, schools, clean air, something which has been lacking the last 8 years and futhermore lacking whenever a Republican has control over the government — it becomes non-existant yet a place of a pretty good salary, great medical for the GOP Party who come daily to work to obstruct and be the Party of No!
March 1st, 2009 at 12:04 pmRUCerious Says:

I’m not sure. Let me meditate on it.
March 1st, 2009 at 12:09 pmAngellight,

They are traitors to the cause. They should all be hung.
March 1st, 2009 at 12:12 pmJuan Williams?
Might as well make that 4-0 against Obama’s plan.

March 1st, 2009 at 1:02 pmFox becomes more irrelevant each day. Unless they realize they are only speaking to a very small percentage of Americans and change their Republican-only ways, the future will be very bleak for them.
March 1st, 2009 at 1:16 pmAs a constituent in Paul Ryan’s District I can tell you we are not all behind this supposed rising star in the Republican Party. He was nowhere to be found when they closed the GM plant in Janesville, WI ( his hometown district). His platform consists of no taxes, no abortions. The Democrats need to target his district and send this Eddie Munster look alike back home to Fred and Lilly.
March 1st, 2009 at 1:41 pmEven worse, they now want to give the Easter Bunny a hernia and I’ll just bet his health plan is inadequate.

March 1st, 2009 at 1:48 pmYou got to be a real dope to fall for faux news. They should have their license revoked!
March 1st, 2009 at 2:05 pmWhy is this news? Do we expect anything else? Does the public?
March 1st, 2009 at 2:06 pmWarren Buffett recently said in a speech “The 400 of us [here] pay a lower part of our income in taxes than our receptionists do, or our cleaning ladies, for that matter” Mr Buffett said that he was taxed at 17.7 per cent on the $46 million he made last year, without trying to avoid paying higher taxes, while his secretary, who earned $60,000, was taxed at 30 per cent. If the news organizations really want to report facts, the debate about taxes could be resolved by simply publishing (minus all personal information)returns for an adequate statistic sampling of that top 1%. Start letting the statistical facts speak – Main Street America is smart enough to draw the conclusions.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:18 pmNow that everyone knows FOX for what it is do people still watch?

March 1st, 2009 at 3:22 pmThat looks likes about two or three million watch MSM. How many people are watching something else? That will answer my question.

Another ratings Queen of course Fox STILL gets spanked by the networks AND a cartoon sponge. I hear Hitlers speeches were real popular too. I guess American Idol must be better than Shakespear since it consistantly gets higher ratings and Big Macs MUST be superior to Sirloin Steak since it sells so much more.

March 1st, 2009 at 7:47 pmWhy has the exposure and anger at Fox taken so long. Liberals have been enablers of this operation by not condemning it louder and far sooner. Obvious “Right Wing Propaganda” is not fair to many of our less curious citizens and as we have seen, dangerous for America.

March 2nd, 2009 at 10:14 amSo I guess this is a good argument for MSNBC firing Joe Scarborough and Pat Buchanan and never having anyone right of center on ever again. Same for CNN. (And PBS, NPR and C-SPAN…) It’s not like Republicans ever contribute anything valuable to the debate anyway. Why give them a platform over mass media? Where’s Noam Chomsky’s platform? Where’s my platform?
