Today on ABC’s This Week, Karl Rove slammed the cost of President Obama’s new budget. The Nation’s Katrina Vanden Heuvel quickly fired back at Rove’s newly-discovered sense of fiscal responsibility, observing that Rove and President Bush “helped plunge this nation into trillion dollars of debt”:
VANDEN HEUEVEL: But, Mr. Rove –
ROVE: Call me Karl.
VANDEN HEUVEL: It’s laughable for you to talk about fiscal responsibility from someone who helped plunge this nation into trillion dollars of debt, through tax cuts for the very rich and a war we never should have fought. And also starving the beast. Starving government has been a Republican role in terms of government. And, therefore, when George asks why government hasn’t functioned, people have not seen the role of government improving the conditions of their lives for decades.
Watch it:
Pollster Stan Greenberg also chided Rove. “It’s a remarkable lecture considering the performance,” he said.
I just love intelligence in a woman.

March 1st, 2009 at 2:27 pmShe rightly tore KKKarl a new one. I applaud her for that because I was seething when I saw him on the panel this morning.
With the body and voice of Porky the Pig, RoverBoy belongs on the Cartoon Channel (or FoxSnooze . . . oh, I guess those are the same thing).
He really had his back up against the wall trying to defend himself and GDumbya for their eight years of criminality and incompetence. Plus that, he kept interrupting her. He is one obnoxious a**hole.
If he has time for the Sunday news programs, why can’t he honor a Congressional subpeona? I guess the Sunday gig pays better.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:28 pmGreat smackdown from Katrina! Rove can shove it up his ass.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:31 pmThis guy has guts to consider Katrina in Bush admin’s favor as if they did excellent job during it.
What does Rove thinks people of this country are ?
March 1st, 2009 at 2:34 pmCall me, Karl. Or Ishmael… the only survivor of a sunken ship.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:37 pmKatrina is always prepared with facts to back up her arguments. Rove was his usual: bluster and interruption, distortion of facts.
I wrote to TW today to complain about Rove’s appearance.
I suppose the right have so few leaders in the party that they have to resort to has-beens like Rove, Lintball, Gingrich, Delay et al, along with proven-failed neocons who made some appearances last week.
Media chiefs spend too much time fawning over republican politicians and satisfying themselves, when they should be listening to the finally-awake American public and providing them with what they need.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:38 pmWhen I saw Karl on TV this am, I said “Judith Miller” and changed the channel. I’m glad someone boxed him in the ears, when he should be in jail.
Spineless Democrats.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:39 pmPut Rove in the Dock and will get his thoughts from there, what a loser
March 1st, 2009 at 2:39 pmUntil Shrub apologists like the porcine Rover are permanently kicked to the curb by the corporate media and denied a forum from which to spin their lies, there will be little hope for real change in this country.
Whatever happened to reality?
March 1st, 2009 at 2:39 pmRove belongs in jail; with the traitor, war criminals Bush and Cheney! Why is Rove on TV, rather then behind bars? The American people better speak up or there will be no American restoration, only more crimes from this gang of liars and thieves. Allow these criminals to run free and you get more RepubliCon crimes.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:39 pmWe have a new troll at #7? A Fox Noise viewer who doesn’t know a reporter when he sees one.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:40 pmPut Rove in the Dock and we will get his thoughts from there, what a creep
March 1st, 2009 at 2:40 pmI missed some of the discussion this morning — did anyone question Rove about his contempt of Congress?
March 1st, 2009 at 2:41 pmHurricane Katrina! So Karl was behind leaving the hospital with the highest death toll from the Lessons Learned report. George W. omitted the Carlyle Group’s LifeCare Hospitals and their 24 deaths. He failed to cite Tenet Healthcare’s 10 more fatalities in Memorial Medical Center. A year later Jeb Bush landed a high dollar board slot at Tenet. Explain that, Mr. Rove and preferrably under oath.
March 1st, 2009 at 2:44 pmLast time I checked, Rove is just another one of those High School Graduates that thinks they know anything about the economy… a dirty tricks guy that has been elevated out of his station in life…he may have money, but he has no class.

March 1st, 2009 at 2:54 pmThere seems to be more talk these days about how the Bush administration wasn’t really and truly conservative. That he didn’t really represent conservative values and that’s why he spent like a drunken sailor. (sorry to all the sailors out there)
I think this is a vulnerable area for the repugs. The charge that they lost credibility as far as screaming about how much the government spends, thanks to the Bush administration, hurts them.

March 1st, 2009 at 2:59 pm… Dumb pitches.
I think they’re both right Both Democrats and Republicans have spent us into bankruptcy
March 1st, 2009 at 3:00 pmSORRY TROLLS, the $1 trillion dollars in unaccounted Pentagon spending, the trillions in irresponsible tax cuts, Americans having to choose between food and medication, violent swings in gas prices, over a trillion in war spending, $350 billion unaccounted for in tarp funds, the trade deficits, a cash-strapped VA, and on and on — that is on YOUR watch.
The financial disaster is already there — YOU caused it.
The damage YOU caused necessitates social spending to help the nation recover. It pays for itself, unlike the over-billed fees to Halliburton.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:00 pmmary Says: I think this is a vulnerable area for the repugs. The charge that they lost credibility as far as screaming about how much the government spends, thanks to the Bush administration, hurts them.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:01 pmRove was instrumental in the attempted destruction and desecration of our country.
WHY THE FUKC is he not behind bars, or in front of a firing squad?
March 1st, 2009 at 3:01 pmI mean, that’s what it comes down to, right? It isn’t fiscal responsibility, it’s about their hatred for social spending.
Social spending is cheaper and pays for itself. It’s the best way to be in debt, because the results will cover the balance.
How has the MIC spending paid for itself? It hasn’t — it’s only made the social spending more costly. It’s hands-off and wasteful.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:05 pmI thought that Ms. Vanden Heuvel and Mr. Greenberg delivered a pretty effective smackdown of the points Rove and old irrelevant Will tried to make. They did a great job in content and delivery.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:06 pmSo just like back in sixties where we had a space race with the soviet union we now have a spending race between repubs and dems? No one will win this one we all will lose.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:07 pmHow does Rove keep appearing in public without someone smashing his face in. Rove bears as much responsibility for the Iraq war as Bush, Cheney and Rumsfeld. In 2002 it was Rove who instructed GOP candidates during their campaigns to support going to war in Iraq.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:08 pmNo, only the republicans spent us into bankruptcy. Obama can and will reverse the downward spiral. You know that, you just don’t want to admit it because you are a republican trying to make yourself look better by making others look worse……won’t work.

Mary,

Oh, I would say that most so-called Conservatives totally cheered Bush right along on his spending! But, there were some that have been complaining for years. Here’s William F. Buckley, for example, in July of 2006:
“I think Mr. Bush faces a singular problem best defined, I think, as the absence of effective conservative ideology — with the result that he ended up being very extravagant in domestic spending, extremely tolerant of excesses by Congress,” Buckley says.
People who defend the ‘right’ by saying that Bush wasn’t really a true Conservative are probably feeling defensive I would think.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:11 pmFrom 1996 to 2008 the Republicans had their dream. Control of Congress and from 2000, control of the executive branch. They did their best to establish all of their ideas. So in 2008 we have a country that went from a budget surplus to a massive deficit.
And now they are trying to sell the idea they didn’t get to implement all their ideas? I don’t even want to know what that might include. I just want them gone.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:16 pmThis is from the Cato Institute (they’re considered Libertarian, right?) from July 2003:
“Conservative” Bush Spends More than “Liberal” Presidents Clinton, Carter
The Bush administration’s newly released budget projections reveal an anticipated budget deficit of $450 billion for the current fiscal year, up another $151 billion since February. Supporters and critics of the administration are tripping over themselves to blame the deficit on tax cuts, the war, and a slow economy. But the fact is we have mounting deficits because George W. Bush is the most gratuitous big spender to occupy the White House since Jimmy Carter. One could say that he has become the “Mother of All Big Spenders.”</em>
My bold.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:18 pmGood for Katrina. Its nice to see someone who can articulate reality for a change being put next to Karl Rove. (what’s he doing on This Week anyway?).
Its laughable to hear Rove talk about the dollar figure President Obama has to throw at THEIR problem as if that somehow discredits the President, particularly considering Bush just threw over a trillion dollars at the problem last year without even stipulating how it should be spent, and Rove had no qualms with that.
What Rove is saying here is simple.

If we didn’t have trillions of dollars of debt and collective minds over the last eight years working to reduce the role of government in improving the lives of Americans just to give in to the demands of big business, we wouldn’t need the trillion dollars in spending.
Hands-on is hell of a lot cheaper than hands on. Keep government effective, and it will be cheaper. We didn’t have to be in this rut.
The ideological fireballs will say “Well, whose name is on the $1 trillion in spending?” The real question is, “Why is this spending necessary and why did it come to this?”

March 1st, 2009 at 3:25 pmLet’s see… Bush left a deficit of $1.3 trillion… so your argument is that Obama will increase it to $3.9 trillion?
That’s a new figure. haven’t seen anyone else claiming that.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:25 pmBut, by 2007 we started to hear things like this:
Bush: A Born-Again Conservative?
President George W. Bush spent Monday morning cautioning a group of young CEOs about excessive spending. It was clear that his statement was primarily aimed at Congress — a warning that he is serious about vetoing Democratic plans to add $22 billion to next year’s budget for education, health and veterans’ programs. But Bush’s fighting words aren’t just about the current battle over spending — they are as much about his efforts to shape his legacy as a committed fiscal conservative, all prior evidence to the contrary.
I’m sure that the fact that we had a Democratic Congress by then was just a coincidence.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:26 pmFox News Rules Says:
By tripling the deficit?
Ask Octomom for a multiplication table and you will have the deficit figures from their leadership years.
It’s odd — republicans spent eight years on tax cuts for the wealthy, corporate tax cuts, over-inflated payments to contractors, asking for nearly $200 billion twice a year to pay for the quagmire, tarp money and other money to the corporate boardrooms, all that in addition the Fed Reserve spending.
But when money comes up for We the People to keep this country strong, their defenses fire off.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:47 pmNot to mention the 1.7 Trillion dollar surplus (half of it in cash) that Bill Clinton handed to Bush when he took over.
What happened to that?
Oh yea. Rather than spending it on infrastructure, jobs creation, technology, green technologies, etc, he divided it up into tiny insignificant amounts (remember your 300 and 600 dollar checks?) and handed it out till it was all gone.
Because remember, republicans have to prove their philosophy that government doesn’t work, so they can’t go around spending tax dollars on things that might actually make people think government does work. That would be self defeating.

March 1st, 2009 at 3:51 pmThere’s a difference between personal finance and government finance. As a rule of thumb, wars of choice are a lot more expensive than cars. You can’t always make an argument out of personal experience. George Bush kept his personal finances in order but never did the same for the country’s finances.
I think there’s a causal analysis you refuse to accept.

Yes but your point isnt a point its a false equivalence. Raygun and Bush BOTH added more to the National debt than all other preceding presidents COMBINED. No Dem has EVER done that. Both parties could do a better job but they are NOT the same and do NOT share equal blame.

Top Defense Officials: Iran Has Fissile Material for Nuke, but No … FOXNews
US: Iran has enough material for bomb Jerusalem Post

Yes what they are doing is fear mongering they are blurring the distinction between fissionable material and fissionable material enriched to the point it can be USED as a weapon. They have enough uranium now to make a bomb ONCE they enrich it to around 90% what they have is enriched to about 8% and there is a lot of high tech unhidable steps in between. So they have ENOUGH material they CANT use for a weapon and are still quite a ways away from a weapon and no evidence they are TAKING those intermediate steps.

ok i see the infrastucture spending but millions of dollars to save a field mouse?
____________
Ooooooooo… something both near and dear to my heart and that I know a little about.
First of all… there was no specific monies in the stimulus bill for “saving a field mouse”. It’s just another embarrassingly transparent right wing lie.
http://www.mercurynews.com/peninsula/ci_11696283
Steel, however, said the Washington Times story is incorrect.
“There is no language in the bill that says this money will go to this project,” Steel told the San Jose Mercury News. “There are large pots of money in the bill that go to various agencies. One of those agencies said the salt marsh harvest mouse project is something we’d do if you gave us the money.”
Pelosi spokesman Drew Hamill agreed that funding for the mouse is not in the bill, and said she did not lobby for it to be on any list.
Then where did the $30 million figure come from, if it’s not in the bill? It turns out that $30 million is the total amount that the California Coastal Conservancy, a state agency, recommended more than a month ago to numerous federal agencies, looking for lists of “shovel ready” projects as part of the stimulus bill planning.
Get SOME FACTS into your opinion, fool.
Second… as far as that mouse you’re wetting yourself over. It’s the salt marsh mouse, and it’s considered an endangered species, and just one of dozens, if not hundreds, of plants, animals, birds, fish, etc, etc, that would benefit from the restoration of 16,500 acres of old Cargill salt ponds on the SF Bay, the “largest tidal wetlands restoration project on the west coast.”
This – restoring the salt ponds – is about so much more than just a field mouse. It’s about helping restore and protect the SF Bay, which is also crab fisheries, herring fisheries (MONEY, dumb dumb… MONEY!!! WOO HOO!!!)… water quality, quality of life for over 5 million people who live in the area.
The Bay is also an important stop over for multiple MILLIONS of migrating birds every fall and spring. The Bay is one of the great natural resources of this country and the whole F-in’ world.
I’d recommend you actually take the time to LEARN something about what you want to criticize before posting. You won’t come across as such a buffoon.

Who said it’s MORE bad debt? Oh… YOU did.
March 1st, 2009 at 3:59 pmSure you are. Just a “concerned” one , right?
A. Most experts are saying that the spending package isn’t large enough.
B. If you had two nickels to rub together you’d know it takes money to make money. Every “successful” business person knows that.
C. The wisdom in saving specific species is lost on those who can’t think beyond one or two moves down the board. Our ecological system is how you eat. Without it, you don’t eat. While you may not see the importance of a specific mouse or insect, the fact is they all play a specific function in the ecological chain, and the disappearance of one can cause a ripple effect that goes all the way to the American farmer, and your dining room table.

Well… that’s a nice attempt at a rhetorical dodge.
If you can’t refute a valid rebuttal to your silly uninformed opinion, just change the subject matter. You weren’t talking about starving people. You were ridiculing a mouse, on non-existent grounds.
Like GOOPers EVER care about the starving poor. Ask Jindal, B about that, when he’s busy turning down money for unemployment benefits.
I’m not even sure why you think that reply makes sense. Of course, if we do protect our environment, including our fisheries, and our economy does come back to life, we will be able to feed ourselves, and our poor, huh?
Saaaaay… here’s one way to save money in this country. Let’s cut off those leeching Red State Welfare Queens… you know, the ones who constantly get more back from the Fed than they pay in. March 1st, 2009 at 4:14 pmIts the great lie.
FACT:
In 2007 only ONE percent of Americans with mortgages were not paying them.
ONE PERCENT.
NINETY NINE percent of Americans WERE paying their mortgages.
But on the news, you heard staggering default rates that convinced people that practically everyone was defaulting on their mortgages. And currently, over NINETY EIGHT PERCENT of all Americans owning homes are CURRENT on their mortgages.
Once we look at the actual numbers (Courtesy REALTY TRAC) we see that the hype about “TOXIC DEBT” was designed to do one thing and one thing only.
Take the onus for this problem off the heads of the lenders and congress, and place it back on the heads of the American people.
Congress and Bush removed lending oversight when they opened up the Sub Prime markets, which in turn permitted lenders to lend in the sub prime markets and manage their own projected losses in these markets. And naturally they underestimated those losses. Why? So they could lend more money of course.
So they projected losses in the Sub Prime markets not much higher than they projected in the prime markets, and then when the actual increased rates of default in the sub prime markets came in, they found themselves without sufficient capital to cover these losses, just as foreign investors found that the US Mortgage backed securities they were purchasing were actually overvalued as they contained a disproportionate number of sub primes rolled in and packaged as primes.
This isn’t rocket science, although some try to paint it as such. In a nutshell, this wasn’t caused by the American people borrowing outside of their means.
It was caused by lenders, LENDING outside of THEIR means.
A situation made possible thanks to deregulation and the reduction off lender oversight.

I don’t know. But you and other trolls are missing the point. The republican party not only ruined our economy but has taken the rest of the world down with it. They are not content with destroying the standard of living in the US but across the world as well.
Their vision is for every american to live like we work in Florida picking fruit. They have wanted us to be so far in debt that it’s like having to buy our food from the company store. And so we’d be in debt forever, virtual slaves to the ever shrinking right wing fanatics (not the base – the uber rich) who would have us work as slaves while they build palaces.
It’s no joke. And any middle class republican that votes for these bastards needs to wake up before everyone in america rents a company shack and makes 11 cents an hour.
I know it’s sounds crazy, but come back in a few generations and see whats happened if we’re not able to get america back on the right track.

That 2% of the population that makes The United States of America even possible. Without them we’d all be commie socialists.
March 1st, 2009 at 4:44 pmToxic debt is a lie. There’s always bad debt. Its why lending is a “risk” industry.
In 2006, out of all US mortgages only 0.58 percent were in default.
In 2007, that number more than doubled. To a whopping 1.03 percent.
And in 2008, it came close to doubling again. To 1.84 percent.
Meaning over NINETY EIGHT of all US mortgages, are good.
Those are not my figures. Those are from Realty Trac.
And while everyones focusing on certain sectors, specific markets, and monthly figures, the overall figures provide us with the real picture.
Toxic debt is not our problem. Americans ARE paying their debts, the numbers prove that overwhelmingly.
Lenders like Countrywide didn’t adequately factor in the higher risk of lending in the sub prime markets, and THATS where the problem originated.
Lenders, underestimating losses and thus lending outside of their means.
Don’t let the “CONCERN TROLLS” like X1 (Backup) sell the lie.
This wasn’t us not paying our bills. Americans are not deadbeats. Think I’m wrong? Step outside your front door and look around. Are you neighbors moving out of their homes? Are the foreclosure signs all over the place?
Of course not. Because the foreclosures were over hyped by greedy lenders misrepresenting their losses and congress trying to cover their asses for helping lenders to escape accountability.
And naturally they are trying to place the onus for the problem back onto the heads of the American citizens.
Don’t let them.

You don’t get to choose to invade a sovereign country on the back of our ancestors. This country is worth fighting for, but our leaders are responsible to choose the battles worth fighting.
Also, it’s kind of futile to host military operations to defend a land and be OK with the same land in decline — funds supporting military presences all over the world that could be used to keep the homeland strong, domestic/social spending.

Our eldest will graduate in two months; we’ll have two in college for several years to come — as one leaves, another one begins.
But back to this year’s graduate: He and his classmates nationally will have a more difficult time landing jobs than any year for at least the past 25.
Why?
Well, Karl Rove would claim it’s because of 9/11 and Katrina. After I’d tell Mr. Rove where to put that claim, I’d point out to him that his miserable efforts of politics-over-country have helped land us in this pitiful economic mess, which is seeing more layoffs than in years. Those lucky enough to still have jobs aren’t in a position to retire.
Rove. Belongs. In. Jail.

March 1st, 2009 at 5:34 pm(I’m so slow in responding that I’m missing a beat with each posting — my apologies.)
The reason to “compound” it, is because we can’t sit around and wait and hope that conditions improve themselves. We’ve seen what happens with a lack of control and positive direction.
Instead, we must invest now in the areas most lagging: education, health care, energy, the country’s infrastructure.
These are real and reasonable goals. In the same way that every business closing has long-extending negative ripples, every positive venture will contribute in ways that we will appreciate as a country in both the short and long run.
That’s why we need to “compound” the problem now. So that we can address the problem and begin to solve it.

Because you are going out of your way to be extra polite to all the men here, while ignoring all the women, until someone pointed out the discrepancy, and then you made an unwittingly condescending reference to the next woman who posted a comment to you.
I don’t know whether you’re overtly racist or not, I made that point to highlight how rude you were to Patty, and the rest of the women who post here on a regular basis. March 1st, 2009 at 6:44 pmAnd to bring it full “sir”cle,
x1 “nobody likes me, everybody hates me, might as well go eat worms.”
March 1st, 2009 at 6:45 pmT. Boone Pickens told this story on c-span today, about his 90 year old neighbor…who lived in the same County all his life, and never felt comfortable leaving home.
So…says T. Boone…you must have seen Lots of Changes in this county over your lifetime of 90 years.
Yeah…says the neighbor… and I was against every Damn one of ‘em.

March 1st, 2009 at 6:45 pmTRoS, the first step is admitting you have a problem…
March 1st, 2009 at 6:46 pmGive Rove a fiddle and a talking horse.
March 1st, 2009 at 6:47 pm.
OMG!!!
You walk away for two hours and the TROLLS x 1 run away with the board…
Q U E S T I O N:
Dear x1(aka “registered” Democrat)
Since when does it make sense to come to a progressive blog inhabited mostly by liberal Democrats and rant and rave about liberal Democrats?
… Oh, it doesn’t count if you proclaim that you’re registered…
… With the AKC?
.
March 1st, 2009 at 6:49 pmI predict, and I ask ALL military men and women to raise their arms and do what they know they must do to Karl Rove, Donald Rumsfeld, George Bush, Dick Cheney, Wolfowitz, John Yoo, David Addington, Perl, Kristol, Norquist, Condi Rice, Bibee, and the primary signatories to the PNAC. Jeb included. Raise your arms, now that you have the practice and expertise.

Well… I do need a sponsor, bobwurst…
March 1st, 2009 at 6:51 pmsir you have repeatedly mocked me let me ask if a foriegn invader landed in this country would you fight for your land?
<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<<
He is mocking you because you are being stupid and have watched Red Dawn too many times. Exactly WHAT great Navy is going to land a couple of hundred thousand people on OUR shores after, apparanly, evading the most dominant Navy in the world namely mine. Let me ask YOU if Martians came down and offered us a 20 trillion dollar gift to settle our debts should we take it? THAT scenario is roughly as likely are YOURS.
March 1st, 2009 at 6:57 pmWell first I felt bad because I wasn’t here to help wrangle trolls but now I’m sad because clearly you grand folks didn’t need me … sniff, sniff …
Job well done soldiers. Carry on.
March 1st, 2009 at 7:06 pmhey TRoS!
Let’s go out and do sum troll-whackin’! Howzabout it?
(ralph glances around, notices people staring at him)
… what?
Why’s ever’bodee lookin’ at me like dat?
March 1st, 2009 at 7:08 pmx1 Says:
So just like back in sixties where we had a space race with the soviet union we now have a spending race between repubs and dems? No one will win this one we all will lose.
So genius, can you tell us what Bush bought for us (you know the USA) with the 5.5 trillion he spent increasing our national debt to 10.5 trillion in 8 short years?
At least the spending President Obama is proposing is an investment in the USA, not in no-bid contractors, vanity wars and making the rich richer and the poor poorer.
March 1st, 2009 at 7:21 pmx1 Says:
i’ve showed you all nothing but respect and you shown me nothing but personal attacks…the proof is in the page above you…no i’m not a liberal democrat but a democrat and if what you people have shown me i don’t want to be a liberal democrat.
If you are a Democrat, then I am the Pope.
March 1st, 2009 at 7:33 pmBilbo, your Holiness:
Where’s a good place to buy red shoes?
March 1st, 2009 at 7:43 pmKarl Rove and Rush Limbaugh – twins separated at birth?
March 1st, 2009 at 7:46 pmIt must be corporate economics. Rove must be helping the MSM ratings, and the ratings feed the MSM.
It is quite possible that MSM owners and shareholders want ratings at any cost. Shame on you! As long as this sad truth remains, mr rove will be broadcasting his version of reality out to our wide-screen, HD TVs. These shows really must come with a warning and a rating system the way fiction programming does- seriously!
March 1st, 2009 at 7:55 pmtraj,
twajie at the cpac thread?
i’ll check it out.
thanks dude.
:)
March 1st, 2009 at 8:20 pmHello… My name is TRoS and I’m a Whack-A-Troll™ addict…
and you’re in good company…
i just knew by the numbers when i returned what was going on…
at least the concern trolls seem to have enough sense to absorb some of the correct information provided…
i could be mistaken…
March 1st, 2009 at 8:46 pmi just read the article that marie remarked on earlier today…
it’s a must read… and i can imagine the plot will thicken soon…
Ape-Man Says:
It must be corporate economics. Rove must be helping the MSM ratings, and the ratings feed the MSM.
it could be…
from that article:
[...] it’s clear what is at stake for the Koch oligarch clan and their corporate and political allies – fighting to keep the hundreds of billions in surplus profits they’ve earned thanks to pro-rich economic policies over the past 30 years [...]
So today’s protests show that the corporate war is on, and this is how they’ll fight it: hiding behind “objective” journalists and “grassroots” new media movements. Because in these times, if you want to push for policies that help the super-wealthy, you better do everything you can to make it seem like it’s “the people” who are “spontaneously” fighting your fight. [...]

March 1st, 2009 at 8:58 pm400+ comments ftw
March 1st, 2009 at 9:37 pmKartina destroyed Rove. The expression on his face was worth all the diamonds in South Africa. He could not believe a woman destroyed his bull shit. His weak bull crap just didn’t fly with this woman of high intellect and total honesty. Karl, you have had your balls cut off. Not that that they were very big anyway.
March 1st, 2009 at 9:53 pmRove and all the rest of his confederates have an absolute contempt for the truth and for the people of this country. The only thing they’re interested in is power, and they will stop at nothing, nothing to regain it. If they get it, they will have absolutely no idea of what to do with it.
March 1st, 2009 at 9:58 pmChubby little Karl, who has been the playground bully for 8 years gets knocked on his ass by a girl. Thank you Katrina.
March 1st, 2009 at 10:58 pmThe main thing Repukian scum have been hammering in the media since 3 months before Bush left office…
….rewriting history…
….they didn’t do it…
….it’s someone elses fault.
March 2nd, 2009 at 12:09 amLeave it to Karl – he still thinks the people are in some ‘reality based’ world where what he says is ‘truth’
March 2nd, 2009 at 1:53 amHumpty Dumpty is off the wall Karl.
March 2nd, 2009 at 1:55 amralph the wonder llama Says:

March 2nd, 2009 at 2:31 amAnytime I can see Katrina Vanden Heuvel lay the smackdown on Satan it’s a good day.
March 2nd, 2009 at 3:05 amAnyone notice roveroolala keeps talking while no one listens……then does it again…….and again…….
March 2nd, 2009 at 3:47 amWas there ever a time when his sounds meant something?
He sounds like the head coach of nobody.
What would you call someone with this?
That would mean being a loser is an upgrade if he were given that chance.
Morning John Kerry:
March 2nd, 2009 at 9:40 amSeems like some yogurt and granola might be best although I can pull together some really good poached fresh eggs if you prefer. Now what exactly does this Rush fellow Rule. Folks I know don’t do AM. I remain curious about what appears to be an infatuation with the bold function. Might you offer an explaination?
Thanks and cheers-
The USA is becoming a laughable and lawless state, a failed state so to speak, to have a crook, a war criminal and a traitor like Rove walking freely and unapologetic ignoring a Congressional subpoena, talking on TV like he is above the law. If the USA was a serious place this man should be have being hanged for treason a long time ago! Obama said he would restore America’s credibility abroad… well Mr. Oabama, for that to happen you must prosecute or have prosecuted the Bush/Chenney administration officials involved in War Crimes and misdemeanors. Rove is on this list, somewhere under Rice!
March 2nd, 2009 at 9:44 amNow you see why the likes of Rove, Hannity, Coulter, Limbaugh (and the rest of there ilk) hide behind the shill of Fox Noise or the security “blanket” of a microphone…..
they cannot stand-up to the mainstream media because they are EXPOSED for the bull-shit they attempt to perpetrate as any semblance of fact or logic for that matter.
March 2nd, 2009 at 10:03 amJohn Kerry Says:
——————————————————————————–
Van Den what???
WHo the hell is this clown?????
RUSH RULES!!
=============================================================
the bottom feeding, knuckle dragging, reichwingnut fringe.
There I fixed it for you, John.
March 2nd, 2009 at 11:46 amSo Rushpo and the CPAC came up with a plan for more of the same? They like what the last eight years brought us and they do not want the new president to try something new to see if it works? Is that the plan they put forward? Just keep going over the cliff instead of trying to turn the wheel. Is Rushpo still doing drugs?
March 2nd, 2009 at 11:49 amContinue down the same failed policy road = 100% of failure
Try change by doing something different = 50-50% chance of recovery
Which is the best bet?
March 2nd, 2009 at 11:51 amWay to go Ms. Katrina! The look on Rove’s face was goddamn priceless.
