Pence: ‘You Bet’ We Want Obama’s Policies To Fail

In recent days, increasing numbers of conservative activists and commentators have followed Rush Limbaugh’s lead in rooting for President Obama to fail. Now, it seems the House Republican leadership is getting on the bandwagon.

On CNN this afternoon, Rick Sanchez asked Rep. Mike Pence (R-IN) — the Chairman of the House Republican Caucus — if he agreed with Rush Limbaugh’s claim that “all Republicans want Barack Obama to fail.” Pence at first demurred, calling Sanchez’s question a “nice try.” “I know what Rush Limbaugh meant,” he said. But after listing off several caricatured aspects of Obama’s economic recovery plan, Pence said, “[Y]ou bet, we want those policies to fail”:

SANCHEZ: Did you hear what Rush Limbaugh said, “the dirty little secret is all Republicans want Barack Obama to fail?” Very direct question to you, Sir. Do you want Barack Obama to fail?

PENCE: Come on, Rick. Nice try. I know what Rush Limbaugh meant. … Everyone like me, Rush Limbaugh and others who believe in limited government, who believes in conservative values, wants the policies that this administration is bringing forward, higher taxes, massive increase in government spending, a huge increase in the role of government, in our daily lives, departure from traditional values. You bet, we want those policies to fail. Because, Rick, we know big government, increases in debt, the micromanagement of the economy out of Washington, DC is a policy that will fail.

Later, Sanchez asked Pence, “But if [Limbaugh] said something you disagreed with, would you call him out?” “I call them like I see them. Rush Limbaugh knows that.” Watch it:

Pence’s admission that he — and anyone “who believes in conservative values” — would like to see Obama’s policies fail is a direct contradiction to what House Minority Whip Eric Cantor (R-VA) said on Sunday. “I don’t think anyone wants anything to fail right now,” Cantor told ABC’s George Stephanopoulos.

Cantor’s suggestion that Limbaugh was wrong, however, does not appear to have been heartfelt. When contacted today by Greg Sargent, Cantor’s office refused to comment on whether or not the congressman did, in fact, disagree with Limbaugh in hoping for Obama to fail.

Finally, it’s troubling that Pence claims to know what Limbaugh really “meant” when he said “I hope Obama fails.” After all, Limbaugh refused to tell Sargent whether or not it would be “a good thing for the country” if Obama’s economic recovery plan were to be a success. It seems that if Senate Republicans haven’t decided they want Obama to fail, House Republicans sure have.

    You mean more massive than the price of Bush’s Little Middle-east Adventure? Paid by loans from China?

    More government in daily lives? This is precious coming from the party that brought All-Communications-Surveillance, All-Of-The-Time.

    You bet you’re a putz, Pence. Drill here, drill now and let the air out of your head.

    Bush did the same thing, other than raising taxes on his wealthy corporate friends, and Pence cheered.

    A pox on the red house.

  4. rainsan says:

    Yeah, big government was really en vogue when Clinton was in office. You know with that surplus and everything. It was horrible.

    Please, STFU, Pence!

    As the Republican party sinks slowly into the sunset (riding on the belly of Rush), it is with a fond farewell that we remember the Grand Old Party and their history. Better to keep the real GOP in mind rather than the pathetic caricature of what we see today.

    The only problem is how will a one-party system (the Democrats) work if they have no real opposition.

  7. WAYNEBRO says:

    So what is this like 30 republicans rallying to the “We want the President(an thereby the country) to fail” line by Rush Limbaugh?

    And the press still takes them seriously why exactly?

  8. lokidog says:

    One of the President’s policies is to bring our troops home from Iraq safely.

    Telling to see the GOP doesn’t want that to succeed, isn’t it?

    Time to start asking them why they want our troops to die.

  9. barracks9 says:

    Like Palin Watch, is anyone keeping a list of all the Rethugs who are traitorously echoing the words of Rush? Totting up that ledger will cost them dearly in 2010 and 2012…

  10. kasinca says:

    They said it and I accept it. The GOP hates the USA and are the enemy. Since they are the minority, they should be treated as any enemy to the country and shipped to Gitmo and waterboarded accordingly.

  12. The Dogfather says:

    Whether they say they want the President to fail, or are trying to be too cute by half by saying they want his policies to fail, it doesn’t matter. The outcome is the same — the American economy and our way of life do not recover from the current abyss under either scenario.

    So what they’re really saying is “I hope the United States of America fails” (or, if you prefer “I hope the United States of America doesn’t recover”). This whole “I hope Obama’s policies fail because I know they will fail” that Pence and other Rushpublicans are spewing makes absolutely no logical sense, and avoids the real question: Why do Rushpublicans want the USA to fail?

  13. spencers mom says:

    Okay, I’m not accustomed to offering sound advice to GOPers, but if these men want to appear to have some kind of backbone, they need to stop folding and groveling every time Rushbo calls them out for not being completely loyal to his extremist agenda.

    An overwhelming majority of Americans dislike Rush, or see him as just an entertainer, so for all of this GOP leadership to keep falling to his/her knees whenever Rushbo calls them out makes them look really weak.

    Really, really weak. And unpricipled. So I guess I’m hoping they’ll keep up the good work!

  16. aquarius2 says:

    This is getting way beyond the spending bills or tax bills, it is becoming a revolution of one party defeated at the polls, refusing to accept this defeat. Republicans from several states are now talking sovereignty, yep that’s right, sovereignty.

    I have always maintained that Republicans get ahead because they can scream louder than their opponents and flood the media with talking points. Right now they are flooding the media with the president will fail and are doing what ever it takes to bring about this failure.

    Enough is enough. The Democratic Party had better take heed that once a lie is repeated often enough it becomes “truth”. Sitting back and letting Obama shoulder, alone, this media circus is hurting any thoughts of economic recovery not to mention trashing all things covering democracy.

    One of the reasons that Social Security was passed back in the 1930’s was because wealthy people got tired of seeing and stepping over the homeless poor people. They wanted the government to do something and it did.

    As I have stated on my blog, Limbaugh is undereducated because if he really knew what he was talking about, he would know that Americans are losing their jobs and their homes and that he, too, will be seeing and stepping over homeless poor people on his way to work. For these other Republicans to follow the lead of Porkulus Limbaugh, it is an indication of their stupidity and demonstrates that they, too, are undereducated.

    Not to mention the Dept. of Homeland Security, the biggest, most costly expansion of government I’ve ever seen. Billions of dollars being sent to each state, with mandates to allocate funds to small municipalities, villages, hell even one-horse towns for them to beef up their security.

    Okay, the biggest, most costly may be overstating. I’m not sure but Medicare Part D (drugs for all, costs be damned!) could have cost even more than DHS.

  44. Cats r Flyfishn says:

    Undereducated Rush has been receiving a great deal of press lately and the Republicans are marching in lock-step with him. Several weeks ago, President Obama told the Republicans that they should not listen to Rush and what do they do? They Limbaugh dittoheads. This is good for the Democratic Party and it is good for President Obama. Too bad for the GOP. They walked right into a trap. No, they ran right into a trap.

  45. Xisithrus says:

    Contrary to popular myth, every Republican president since and including Herbert Hoover has increased the federal government’s size, scope, or power–and usually all three. Over the last one hundred years, of the five presidents who presided over the largest domestic spending increases, four were Republicans. Include regulations and foreign policy, as well as budgets approved by a Republican Congress, and a picture begins to emerge of the Republican Party as a reliable engine of government growth.

    Herbert Hoover

    * Increased federal spending38 percent (current dollars)
    * Passed the Agricultural Marketing Act (welfare for farmers)
    * Passed the Hawley-Smoot Tariff
    * Waged war on drugs (alcohol)
    * Passed the Reconstruction Finance Corporation (pork and corporate welfare)
    * Passed massive tax increases

    Dwight Eisenhower

    * Increased federal spending30 percent
    * Created Department of Health, Education, & Welfare (and spending)
    * Put Earl Warren and William Brennan on Supreme Court
    * Helped install Shah Pahlevi in Iran (smart, real smart)
    * Extended Socialism Security to 10 million additional persons
    * Started American involvement in Vietnam
    * Passed federal highway legislation
    * Created NASA
    * Started student loan program (aka, program to raise college tuition so no one can afford it)
    * Kept federal counterfeiting to a minimum, causingyou to lose only 9 cents off your 1952 dollar(Source: The Inflation Calculator)

    Richard Nixon

    * Increased federal spending70 percent
    * Created EPA, OSHA, and CPSC
    * Started “affirmative action”
    * Imposed price and wage controls
    * Made your 1968 dollarworth just 78 cents by the timehe left office
    * Proposed minimum national income

    Gerald Ford

    * Knocked 8 cents off your dollar in just two years [He didn't WIN (Whip Inflation Now]
    * Increased federal spendingthroughoutterm
    * Reduced spending on federal prisons by pardoning Nixon
    * Overall, not too bad for a Republican and better than…

    Ronald Reagan

    * Increased federal spending53 percent
    * ElevatedVeteran’s Administration
    * Added 250,000 civilian employees
    * Created drug czar’s office
    * Escalated war on drugs
    * “Saved” Social Security by increasing payroll tax
    * Lowered the value of your 1980 dollarto 73 cents

    GeorgeHerbert WalkerBush

    * Increased federal spending 12 percent
    * Signed the (litigious) Americans with Disabilities Act
    * Managed to knock 13 cents off the value of your dollar in just four years
    * Just said “Yes” to new taxes

    Republican Congress

    * Held your dollar’s loss in value to a mere 11 cents[Newt and the (1995-2000) gang]
    * Increased federal spending and taxes collectedeach year
    * Eviscerated ancient right of Englishmen and Americans–habeas corpus
    * Flunked the acid test of economic sanity–raising the minimum wage (mandatory unemployment law)
    * Passed Freedom to Farm Act (at taxpayers’ expense, that is)

    Fred – My assumption is that independents who would have normally voted for a more conservative candidate could see no difference between the left and right. I think that many were caught up in Obama’s soaring rhetoric and had such a bitter taste in there mouths from the last 8 years. Many were convinced by elements of the media that Iraq was a mistake, rightly or wrongly, and wanted us to make a “change”. It is funny though, that now that Obama has the reigns, he will be utilizing the same withdrawal program that was already laid out for him by the previous administration.

    dbadass – if someone will buy it from you voluntarily why are you forcing me to pay for it? Why not sell it in the free market?

    Tell you what, I’ll answer after you answer the question posed to you. Oh hell I get the sense that you might not be the type that will bother to take responsibility for your words so I will just tell you.

    I am selling it on the “free” market. That changes little the fact that I support the artists of my society because the offer things which benefit us all

    Never said that it did. I will tell you though that If I had a choice of either using 1 trillion to grow an inefficient and corrupt government or use 600 billion to try and foster a new Republic in the Middle East, I choose the later.

    What about spending a trillion dollars on an inefficient war that was based on lies in the middle east by giving no bid contracts to cronies while not provided basic services to our troops? Services like fresh water and edible food, services like showers that won’t kill you.

    Instead spend that 600 billion on badly needed infrasture repairs, which will put people to work all over this great country, people who will spend that money in our stores further stimulatinng the economy while making commerce easier becuase roads won’t destroy trucks and bridges won’t collapse. And spend that money on school buildings and text books and scholarships so everyone can learn, and have a chance at the American Dream?

  80. Bobwurst says:

    Taxcuts for all starters, eliminate capital gains for at least 3 years. During that time, implement the Fair Tax

    I think that many were caught up in Obama’s soaring rhetoric and had such a bitter taste in there mouths from the last 8 years.

    I think you are right about this and nothing else that you have said. I think bitter is an understatment and you just go ahead and tell yourself whatever you have to so you can sleep.

  82. Bobwurst says:

    independent989 Says:
    Also, legalize or at least decriminalize marijuana. Reduces costs on system, increase revenues with taxes.

    I agree with this, try selling it to your buddies on the right…

    “Taxcuts for all starters, eliminate capital gains for at least 3 years. During that time, implement the Fair Tax.”

    and that’s why your side has suffered stunning loses in the last two election cycle. it was the very recipe you just suggested that got us into this mess. do you think the american people are stupid?

  84. independent989 says:

    alpuz3 Says:
    you aint subsidizing squat, independent989. You’re neither an “Independent” or wealthy.

    Alpuz, I will let your comment speak for itself.

    Dr. Hussein Matt

    For some reason reich-wingers are too ashamed to admit they are a republican. They always hide like cowards under the “I’m independent” umbrella.

    Hussein I am fiscally conservative and socially fairly liberal. Call me what you want. I believe that both of our parties are full of corruption. Politicians looking out for politicians. We need to have more than 2 parties involved and one day we will. I just hope it is not too late.

  85. Xisithrus says:

    Gurantee the 5-8% of mortgages that are in trouble. Economy would bounce back quickly

    I dont see how thats going to happen when the banks that are being bailed out have some 600 trillion in CDS or CDO debt [assets] thats gone bad. Thats the real problem and its why banks are hoarding money.

    They highly over leveraged system is insolvent. Humpty Dumpty fell off the wall. The kings men cant glue his greedy butt together again.

  86. Yamunation says:

    Um, adding the word “policies” or “stimulus package” after the word “Obama” doesn’t all of a sudden mean you are distinguishing between the president and something else. If you want his policies to fail, that means you want Obama to fail, and that means you want the country to fail and that means you are anti-american.

    Period.

  87. dbadass says:

    What the hell. independent989 asks a few questions. I answer them. I ask one and independent989 avoids it. And then these folks wonder why they don’t get more respect around here. What gives independent989?

  97. dasm says:

    Republicans: party over country no matter what. Wanting the president to fail? Traitorous, according to their own hysterics during the last 8 years. So I guess each Republican who hopes for failure of the president is a traitor. By Republicans’ own definition of traitorous- before Obama got in, that is. Now that Obama is president, maligning him, insulting him, lying about his policies, and hoping for failure — well, it’s just fine now. Limbaugh says so.

  98. Fred says:

    Proud, I think you got it all wrong. Us watching rush and the gop implode is kinda like when you drive by a car wreck and you can’t help but look…..morbid curiosity.

    We wanted them injured a long time ago and now they have fallen on their own sword. It’s really rather delicious. The irony runneth over….heh.

  100. gummitch says:

    Proud Says:

    From Bush derangement to Rush derangement. I believe both houses are under dem control and your messiah is in the White House.

    “Rush derangement”? This from a tool who refers to the President of the United States as “your messiah”? Stupid as well as hypocritical.

  101. Arctic Ghetto says:

  106. dbadass says:

    Hi dorothy76:
    What exactly are you talking about? I look forward to discussing this with you further.
    best-

  107. dbearton says:

    Dorothy, you shouldn’t worry about your rights. Thanks to the Druggie Rush and the RepubliCons, you have already lost your mind.

  108. ProgressiveCitizenry says:

    I’m glad they’re concerned about the well being of the country, instead of their party’s political power. Goodness knows Obama’s policies couldn’t possibly do any worse than theirs have; hell, I’d rather have Ron Paul for president than any more of those blowhards.

    Let’s hope they can start thinking beyond themselves. Maybe we could even remember back to a time when we promised to do things to make the world a better place, like, say, promising to honor the UN Millennium Goals back in 2000. Global poverty is still a huge issue and can be solved with so little effort or money.

    The Borgen Project (www.borgenproject.org) has some interesting insight into addressing the issues of global poverty, something we can remedy easily and sustainably.

    Some interesting figures to ponder:
    $30 billion USD: The annual shortfall to end global poverty.
    $550 billion USD: The annual US defense budget.

  109. Purple State says:

    dorothy76 Says:

    You democrats just wait until your rights get taken away. It will start with the 2nd amendment and then free speech.

    You know, I heard the same thing when Bush became president. As far as I know, I’m still talking.

  110. Winski says:

    Pence and the rest of his NeoNut brethren do all they can to spew platitudes but have ZERO substance behind what they say. If we took just ONE of their talking points that’s old and tired, let’s say limited government in the financial markets right now…how long would the Dow Jones Market Index remain ABOVE ZERO – maybe two weeks?? OK, I’m being too pessimistic – three weeks.

    These people are EMPTY. They ave NO IDEAS about what to do going forward. Liars as repliers to Obama’s speech should tell you all you need to know. Rush and his freak show is just icing…

  111. dbadass says:

    where the hell is astegga? Is it just me or has the Borgen Project taken my advice and chosen to change strategies. I’ll tell you what Borgen Project tell the truth regarding this odd coincidence and I might actually give you that dough I spoke of.

  112. gunner says:

    The new Pigbaugh-led GOP CPAC marching orders are:

    * “Obama must Fail”
    * “American Policies must Fail”
    * “We Do Not Need Policies” (Rush rebuked Newt)
    * “Winning Elections is all that Matters”

    So “Country First” was merely another convenient campaign lie, obviously, as you pretend to ignore the carnage you created and instead adopt the new GOP war anthem to hope, plot and push American Policies for recovery and rebuilding our Country actually towards failure

    Those plans are exactly the opposite of your own Party’s Policies that always and most recently have all been designed to destroy America, Government, the Middle Class and Economy and all proven to exactly ….Fail?

    If actions do speak louder than words; Republicons all love failure, suffering, war, killing, debt, poverty and hate by selling it during election time under the demonically twisted mask of the opposite …“compassionate Christians”

    If every instinct the Republicons have is wrong, then the opposite must be true.
    Republicons have turned American into George Costanza..!

  113. dbadass says:

    Hey dorothy76:
    It is okay we can talk. Just explain what you mean and we can chit chat about it. I don’t have much use for “firearms” but I do like that 1st ammendment dealio. Well that isn’t really true. There is this rocket launcher I have had my eyes on for awhile now….

  114. dbadass says:

    dorothy76,
    Was it something I said? You did come here to discuss important topics and issues like rights right?

  115. SnoBird says:

    Semantics. . . Anyone who wants the President to fail wants America to fail. Apparently a failed America is good for the GOP.

    Heh? America is hurting. If a policy helps Americans, why the heck would you want it to fail?

    Again, disagree with the policy, put forth a better policy, but DO NOT HOPE that policies designed to help floundering Americans in an economy that you created means that Americans must fail if you are to ensure your political betterment!

    Americans must fail if you are to succeed?! WTF?!

  116. SnoBird says:

    Oh yeah, the “bail out policy” is not a cafeteria plan. You cannot accept some and disregard the rest. “Yes” says Boehner, I want a rail system that runs through my district, but, Louisiana absolutely should not accept ongoing unemplolyment funds for its perpetually out of work . . . on second thought, nor should I. I refuse to accept unemploymnet funds that i can later reject because that is Socialism, as my people starve, can’t send their kids to college and stiffle my side-walks with unemployed.

    By denying unemployment benefits, the unemployed will move to other states that do offer those benefits, thereby lowering by unemployment statistics. Those freeloaders won’t go to red states they’ll go to blue states. Screw them.

    Unfortunately, Boehnerd the cry-baby, those unemployed will flock to your state to build the pork-barrell infractusture you so cry about.

    Obama’s plan must be comprehensive, take one take it all. If you reject it in part, you get none. No high speed raid road for you Mr. Boehner.

    Also, it must be a clawback. If you worked in any capacity for Countrywide or any other mortgage provider, you cannot, nor can you wives, children or business associated purchase subprime mortagages or foreclosures. I think I’ll start a clawback website, any company or individual that profited in any way from the subprime market must simply adopt the mortgage, in its entirety, of any foreclosed upon mortgagee.

    Fraud is a terrible thing, whether it’s upon the Federal government that bailed out your employer as a consequence of your wrongdoing, or the poor overly ambitious home owner that accepted the terms of your no down payment ARM term mortgage. Yes, Hell yes, there are plenty of us unemployed professionals out there ready to claw back your ill gotten gains. If Obama is worth half his tout, he’ll get regulators on this crime before the attornies pounce. I suspect, we’re ahead of his game.

  117. dbadass says:

    I’ve got crabcakes John Kerry….
    How do you think this might end?

  118. labman57 says:

    It’s one thing to say that you fully expect Obama’s policies will fail if you do not share his philosophy about the role of government in the economic recovery. It is quite another matter to WISH for his policies to fail, because this will result in increased unemployment, more business failures, more home foreclosures, and more older people without the security blanket of their pensions and retirement accounts.

    Why would you WISH for that? Simply so that you could smugly sit back and gloat? Is the GOP that cold and indifferent to the suffering of their fellow citizens? Is their mantra going to continue to be: “I’ve got mine. To hell with everyone else!” ?

    This is why the extreme right of the GOP is increasingly becoming irrelevant to the majority of Americans. There is far too much at stake to wish that ANYONE fails.

  119. dbadass says:

    Perhaps the immediate assumption that the bold use of the bold is an attention getting device has us barking up the wrong tree. Perhaps we have us a real serial killer like genius. Let’s think outside the box. Other than attention why would someone always do the bold thing? Sure they are looking for a certain style and delivery but still other than attention, what might explain this?

  120. dbadass says:

    That is a valid point and one I needed to her. In my line of work it is easy to get carried away. Shit between Nick Cage and Denzel they must be a dozen feature films about profilers of oddballs… Often the profiler gets too much inside the mind of the profilee

  121. dbadass says:

    Are you out of school yet???

    And by school what do you mean? Me? I am a life long learner….

  122. dbadass says:

    why is “dbadass” so hard to spell?

  123. Alecto says:

    GOP should be killed.
    Yes, the people.

  124. dbadass says:

    I SAY AGAIN
    WHAT MIGHT EXPLAIN THIS?

  125. dbadass says:

    139:
    Do I have to announce again that…
    I OWN JOHN KERRY?

    So just keep your meathooks off…

  126. dbadass says:

    Sorry I ment to bold #140. My screw up sort of blew the joke.

  127. kasinca says:

    Those free marketers like Pence have so much to cling to…you know since it worked so well so far. Free market economics and deregulation had a little to do with this latest crash and burn.

  128. dbadass says:

    Sorry Trajan75IQ
    There still call me cruiser down at the car club…

  129. wickedlittledoll says:

    Wow. The GOP just keeps getting more and more desperate. When are they gonna finally stop b**ching and start actually contributing actual ideas?
    http://democralypsenow.blogspot.com/

  130. dbadass says:

    Shit!!! “There” has to be “They” and even still it is sort of obscure

  131. green says:

    I have read all the posts this time and I sit here astounded. The one who calls himself Independent would rather waste trillions in Iraq, destroying people and property, and running up huge debt that serves no one. He does not want to invest less money in our country, for our people and our future. This makes no sense. Please someone, explain the rationale this whack jobs are attempting to sell.

    And then this loon who calls himself proud comes along and calls our President “the messiah” and spouts off that “you won control of the government…” See, this is just a game for these folks – it’s all about winning or losing – not bettering our country for everyone. Besides, we are all the government – it’s We the People, For the People, By the People – or is that too much socialism for the likes of that one who calls himself proud.

    And to top it off…….sheeeesh…..this Dorothy character and her suggestion that all our rights are going to be taken away. HEY YOU, wake up — they already were under your chimperor W — or were you not paying attention? Have you not heard that our country has been living in a dictatorship for the last 8 nightmarish years? Where were you and all your concerns?

    Where do these people come from? Are they for real?

  132. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Trajan, I have to call you on this. I believe it was I who drew out John Kerry.

    In fact, I made an announcement on another thread when Troll JK responded for the first time (at least, it was the first time I ever saw him respond).

    I’m taking credit for that one.

    Although I still think the real credit goes to his doctors who finally settled on an effective drug cocktail.

  134. dbadass says:

    Alright, I’ll admit tht he cited others before I. Still without the nourishment I offered along they way, John Kerry would have suffered a less than bold demise long before you local hooligans could have lured him from my nest

  135. green says:

    Oh, and I forgot about the one who calls himself John Kerry the BOLD. He’s already failing? How can that be after one and a half months? – and this one no doubt thinks that Georgie was a success – Talk about sore losers — that one, John Kerry. Those GOOPERS sure know how to grow a bunch of ignorant, useless and space occupying piles of shite. And there you have it!

  136. kasinca says:

    GOPers are going against the most popular president ever. What do they think they will gain? They are trying to keep the bottom feeding, knuckle dragging 28% together because they have lost the middle minded and the open minded of the party. All they have left are the haters.

    WHO OWNS JOHN KERRY

  139. green says:

    dbadass,

    I THINK YOU DO!

  140. dbadass says:

    Where do these people come from? Are they for real?

    green can you do me a solid and not get a million others asking the same questions which are at the basis of my work? I am not even close to ready to publish. Come on. My fututre depends on this thesis…

  141. green says:

    dbadass,
    hee, hee, hee……I support your work and wish you great success in cracking the nuts.

  142. ralph the wonder llama says:

    Get yerself some rest, T75. You’ve had a busy few days.

  143. MrBrown says:

    Will someone please explain to me what these
    “traditional values” are that these wingnuts spout about?

    Last time I checked, the actual tradition in this nation is that we progress from what we have at the moment. You know, like how we progressed beyond slavery, allowing minorities to vote, allowing women to vote, and allowing women to chose what they do with their OWN bodies.

    Our nation’s truest creed is “A more perfect union”. We keep striving for perfection, even though we know its unattainable…

  144. NOLIESPLEASE says:

    “Capital must protect itself in every possible manner by combination and legislation. Debts must be collected, bonds and mortgages must be foreclosed as rapidly as possible. When, through a process of law, the common people lose their homes they will become more docile and more easily governed through the influence of the strong arm of government, applied by a central power of wealth under control of leading financiers. This truth is well known among our principal men now engaged in forming an imperialism of Capital to govern the world. By dividing the voters through the political party system, we can get them to expend their energies in fighting over questions of no importance. Thus by discreet action we can secure for ourselves what has been so well planned and so successfully accomplished.” USA Banker’s Magazine, August 25 1924

    It’s funny how the Repugs keep insisting on laws that help those want to distroy America….including bankers!!!!

  145. a0d7fzz says:

    Add Pence to the list of traitors!

    (UATWMF)

  146. MikeSar says:

    Clearly, these good American citizens want America to fail. They follow the old tradition “My Way or No way” that was drilled into them over the last 8 years.
    They know who will support their reelection campaigns, for example, those that get “EARMARKS” and “NO BID” Contracts. Of course they will take the taxpayer money and give a portion to the Officials to get them re-elected and continue sending them more, and more, money. In system studies, they would call this a “Closed System” except the money flows is split between them and their Lap Dog.
    Good News! We know who they are and we can throw their words back at them, let’s find out how voters feel about it.
    The hardest part in a battle is to ferret out the enemy of the people, they have done that for us, let’s practice ways to throw their words back at them.

  147. milaninthesun says:

    The loyal opposition has clearly showed their true colors. There is a group that has clearly profited from the Bush presidency. This reminds me of the days after Clinton won the Whitehouse. Both times the RNC flatly stated there would be no cooperation with the President or the Democrats. The big difference with Obama is he can draw on the Clinton years for guidence. Lets see, we have the opening up of American accounts in Switzerland, the Britons have singaled the opening of American accounts in their territories and investigations of Halibertion to name a few. This may explain why the RNC is screeming blood murder. Finally Obama is a skilled polition with plenty of seasoned advisors. The more the RNC screams the closer the truth is. These are curious times.
