The Washington Post’s Chris Cillizza reported this week that Fox News’s Greta Van Susteren’s husband, John Coale, is one of “the figures charged with guiding [Gov. Sarah] Palin’s political image in Washington” — raising questions about a conflict of interest in Van Susteren’s reporting on the governor. Today, Van Susteren said on her blog that her husband is not a “paid adviser” to Palin but that he has “helped her” in the past:
I am getting lots of inquires about my husband John Coale — no, he is not a paid adviser to Governor Palin and never has been. And no, he does not want a job with her or with the other women he has helped. Yes, he has given Governor Palin advice and helped her. He met her through me when I interviewed her. … I did not meet her through him. I have gotten interviews with her not through him but through our staff on OTR. It is that simple. … Some people get so bent out of shape by what they imagine. Go figure.
The original post by Cillizza is no longer online. When contacted by ThinkProgress, he said that his blog is having technical problems right now, and the post should be up again shortly.
Ah FOX news! Straddling the line between unethical and illegal. So her husband isn’t a “paid” adviser. Much like the treasonous Karl Rove not being a “paid” consultant for McCain while selling his bullshit on FOX during the elections.
March 20th, 2009 at 10:47 amSo that’s why Greta stalked Palin last year, and Palin let her…

Interesting statement coming from someone working for FOX news. Your entire format is practically from what you all imagine.

Unbelievable, you beat me too it. The stalking ability Greta displayed was disgusting.
March 20th, 2009 at 10:53 amFox continues to be the mouthpiece for the Republican party. They don’t even try to be neutral. What a bunch of baffoons!
March 20th, 2009 at 10:59 amWhy can’t fox just come out and say, Caution!: “We are the republican network and to hear the neo-con/conservative spin on everything, listen to us….”
March 20th, 2009 at 11:04 amGreta, STFU.
Greta Van Cisterne is nothing but a failed lawyer who became a failed reporter who now is a failing screeching head for the cancervative echo chamber. I’ll put my money on Chris Cillizza over Greta 100 times out of 100…
March 20th, 2009 at 11:04 amIs “baffoon” a baffled buffoon?
March 20th, 2009 at 11:04 amThe other day I flipped over to Faux and they were showing a melee in progress as the octomom tried to get out a car with two of her poor little ones and the Faux airhead was going on and on about how they couldn’t believe there was no security to protect her from the mob…meantime, of course, Faux’s cameras were part of the mob.
March 20th, 2009 at 11:06 amIs conflict of interest OK only if you get paid for it?

You forgot “failed facelift recipient”
March 20th, 2009 at 11:07 am(Yes, that’s snotty and sexist, but hell, it’s Friday…)
#8, thanks for pointing out my spelling error, today, I may be the buffoon! It did give me a good laugh at myself though, and on a Friday, I needed that! Have a good day!
March 20th, 2009 at 11:11 amI don’t quite get this part of Greta’s statement:
Yes, it has some people all obsessed and spreading rumors — it is no doubt the enemies of the people who got so upset when my husband has helped Speaker Pelosi and Secretary Clinton and spread the opposite rumors.
He’s “helped” Pelosi and Clinton?
March 20th, 2009 at 11:11 amThis is kind of a classic dodge. Since there is no campaign right now nobody is getting paid. She hasn’t announced she is running for a national office so there aren’t even any jobs to vie for. Nevertheless, Greta and her husband are Sarah Palin’s P.R. machine. Of course, FOX isn’t going to complain.
Dino Rossi played the same game here in Washington. There was no doubt he was going to run for Governor again last year after his narrow loss several years ago. He raised a ton of money for his PAC and made campaign stops that skirted campaign finance and public disclosure laws since he had technically not filed as a candidate yet.
March 20th, 2009 at 11:18 amI don’t know about anyone else, but I always thought that Greta’s obession with the Palins was creepy.
March 20th, 2009 at 11:19 amThis is my favorite part of the Republican Meltdown Show. Watching their reactions when they get caught with their hands in the cookie jar. Sweet.
March 20th, 2009 at 11:20 amThe big news here is that someone married Greta. Before or after plastic surgery is the question?
March 20th, 2009 at 11:32 amPalin, Greta? Who are these people and why would anyone care?
March 20th, 2009 at 11:34 amafter seeing a picture of Greta’s husband there’s little wonder that she has a lesbian crush on Sarah

Creepy? She’s an outright STALKER. It probably has to do with being one of those mongoloid Scientology retards.
