Palin buried in debt, may launch a legal fund.

The Anchorage Daily News reports that Gov. Sarah Palin (R-AK) owes more than half a million dollars “to an Anchorage law firm that has defended her against ethics complaints, and she may create a legal fund to pay the bill.” In her written response to the ADN, Palin described the charges that have cost her so much money as “baseless” and “ridiculous”:

Still trying to portray herself as a populist, Palin said that because of the “blood sport some are playing today” in politics, it seems that only the independently wealthy or those willing to spend their income on legal fees to defend their official actions in office … can serve.”

I really don’t give a rat’s ass what Palin does. I wish she would just go away.

  2. tom says:

Failin’ Palin is blaming Obama for her ethical lapses and legal debts? The Pentacostal Pork-Barrel Princess of Wasilla needs to take a personal inventory methinks!

This is just what happens to slimeballs like her. They abuse power, carry out personal vendettas and get themselves in hot water.

  3. pax says:

stupid story……..we need to ignore her and the memory of her failed bid for vp.

  4. youtube says:

She probabyl spent those money for becoming a vice president now it is a time to pay back Palin.

  5. spencers mom says:

Oh, she didn’t want to use public funds to defend her and Todd against their private, malicious vendetta. But she would have if she thought she could get away with it!

Lucky for Princess Wasilla, there are plenty of dolts with plenty of cash willing to bail her out.

    PEACE

  10. hanshiro says:

Why do conservatives cry “socialist” as a pejorative….except when they need a handout?

Isn’t this tantamount to socializing her losses, poor choices and bad behavior; supposedly anathema to the ‘conservative’ credo?

    Where’s Santelli on this?

  11. Hoodathunk says:

Sara, when you indulge in bad behavior and then accept something that puts you in the public spotlight (and under the microscope), you can’t be surprised. You did the shenanigans so quit blaming others because you got caught.

It’s the punchline from the old joke…’when you are in sh*t up to your nose, keep your mouth shut.”

Rebecca LoboMaybe if bible spice wasn’t a crook she wouldn’t have so much trouble defending herself. You know if she could just say, open the books and let them look. Heh.

  13. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

That is too funny. She quotes the start of the Troopergate problems as when someone from “the Obama campaign” started making inquiries. Sorry Sarah, your Troopergate problem was there way before you were picked by McCain to be his barbie doll VP.

I have a question. Would it even be legal much less ethical for a Governor to pay her legal bills out of Alaska funds to defend herself against ethics charges?

You know that the trolls have hit the bottom of the barrel when the best they can come up with is a gaffe our President made. She is also missing the point that this President sincerely apologized for his gaffe not giving the typical Republican’t apology of “I’m sorry if what I said offended anyone”.

Exactly hooda, you don’t hear about them having to defend and whining about it do you? If she was clean this never would have happened.

    Sound GOP policy.

Hey guys, this explains a lot — it explains why right-wingers are incapable of sincere apologies.

It’s because they think they are worthless.

  41. dbadass says:

So there you are Ms. Lobo
Will we be engaging in conversation today or just saying stuff to get negative attention? I would really like to chat with you. Would you like to pick the topic if Ms. Palin’s gooofiness doesn’t suit you? Reagan’s support of terrorism is one I have suggested but you seem scared of it. Yoor attitudes towards artichokes has been offered but even that seems to scare you. Are you here for discussion or do you have a different agenda? I think we all know the answer to that …

Or was that the “mistake” you were referring to? When others mistake a Republican’s words for something offensive?

How about Ms. Palin’s daughter’s inability to be virtuous? Just pick a topic. Failure to engage me makes you look really weak and inferior and I wouldn’t want you to look weak and inferior. Would you?

  50. Trollspotter says:

Apparently, over at the Olbermann-hate site, Rebecca Lobo/Archie B/Mr. Pathetic recently called for the banning of a poster he didn’t agree with, arguing that this fellow was “only here to disrupt a peaceful blog.”

Total hypocrisy, considering his behavior here.

But, of course, that’s how he sees the world. He thinks it’s cool to lie, smear and sock puppet… but on blue blogs… because they’re blue.

Anything a Democrat does should be condemned because it’s a Democrat, and anything a Republican does should be excused as long as that Republican doesn’t have a history of siding with Democrats. That’s the complete extent of his political philosophy.

    Funny stuff, Olbermann-obsessed troll.

  51. dbadass says:

Here’s what Sarah Palin said about knowing she was going to give birth (or Bristol was about to) to a Down Syndrome baby:

“Not knowing in my own heart if I was going to be ready to embrace a child with special needs…I couldn’t talk about it.”

“I’ve never had problems with my other pregnancies, so I was shocked”

“It took a while to open up the book that the doctor gave me about children with Down syndrome, and a while to log on to the Web site and start reading facts about the situation.”

Anyone else get the feeling Sarah Palin has also told the ole “Special Olympics” joke one time in her life and is being a hypocrite by going after President Obama?

Also, she didn’t want to tell the kids that they were going to have a brother with Down Syndrome. Huh, now why would she do that if all children are ’sent by gawd’ and are precious as Sarah believes? Is it because she was going to give Trig up for adoption or was hoping for a miscarriage? Could be.

  82. Morgan423 says:

Okay Sarah, deny everything as you might, there is a reason why you had to hire squadrons of lawyers. In your heart of hearts, you know this is the case, and that you’re the true cause of your situation.

My advice: if you don’t want to continue to pay lawyers, perhaps you should stop engaging in unethical and unlawful acts.

In the meantime, please shut the hell up. There’s enough whining going on among politicians without you adding more to the noise.

Rebecca is one of those typical trolls who lives under the front porch of the RNC waiting for her daily hate-snack. When she gets her food, she comes to a liberal blog and typically will come in lashing out at the liberals, but when a liberal lashes back and says something like, ‘You can such arse you f**king twit’, Rebecca acts as if she is the innocent victim in all of this!

Uh Rebecca? Either stick a sock in it or pull out your George Bush-shaped dildo. Your choice.

  95. joe cantwell says:

    Dr. Hussein Matt Says:
    Zooey Says:

It’s a bit early to be playing the victim card, isn’t it Becky Loon?

It’s never too early for the radical reich, especially since Archie has been up for 22 hrs straight trolling liberal blogs.

    that’s good.

  96. Fred says:

    Zooey Says:
It’s a bit early to be playing the victim card, isn’t it Becky Loon?

Actually she played it earlier but no one cares. She flagged a bunch of us and then said she didn’t because only righties believe in freedom of speech. She forgot she lied and that palen had tried to censor library books.

It was about time to expect it though wasn’t it?

  97. Bilbo Hussein Baggins says:

    Levi the Oracle Says:
I am interested if anyone has a link to radical Republicans sending death threats to octomom. I am not sure why they would have done this. I assume it has something to do with the “right to life” fanaticism of the religious fundamentalists.

No, it has to do with the fact that she was on the public dole when she allowed herself to be inseminated with 8 fetuses. Don’t forget, the Republicant’s love the fetus, but hate the child.

  98. Hoodathunk says:

Dear Rebecca has definite special needs. She needs to spawn conflict. Notice how he/she/it hides out when things quiet down and then suddenly reappears to toss some gas on the fire? Avoids actual debate or discussion? Poor dear crazed Becky.

  99. KayInMaine says:

    Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:

    KayInMaine Says:
Anyone else get the feeling Sarah Palin has also told the ole “Special Olympics” joke one time in her life and is being a hypocrite by going after President Obama?

The sad thing is that a good part of the stimulus education funding she is trying to turn down is money to fund programs for special needs children. Didn’t she once say, while running for VP, that if she was elected parents of special needs children would have a friend in the white house? I guess that only applied to her being VP. As governor of Alaska, not so much.
    March 21st, 2009 at 12:46 pm

Yep! She’s in the process of cutting MORE money out of education and for those with special needs. She’s all about the children. *gagging myself with a snow shovel*

Of course, if her white ‘normal’ children need new clothes from Abercrombie & Fitch, she’ll use the money from her SarahPac to buy them. But if Trig needs new clothes, she goes to a thrift store or Goodwill. Guaranteed.

  101. Zooey says:

Kay, I’m simultaneously grossed out and laughing my ass off.
    :-D

Haven’t you heard? All the trolls are now “independents.” That’s the new code word for Limbaugh cock-swallowers.

  102. Hoodathunk says:

Zooey, why would anyone want to actually claim to be a Republican these days?

    No more nickles.

  103. OutstandingInMyField says:

    Bilbo Hussein Baggins Says:
Didn’t she once say, while running for VP, that if she was elected parents of special needs children would have a friend in the white house?

She sure did, she’s a hypocrite. I was offended by President Obama’s remark, just as I’m offended every time someone calls someone a “retard” or makes a “short bus” remark. I can accept his apology because I believe he means it, and because I know he will work to keep funding available for the programs that my son needs to become a productive member of society.

Hell, why do you think she got on that plane when she knew she was in active labor with a Down Syndrome child? That could have been a real tragedy for the Palin family. **wink**

If she was pregnant, she was either hoping for “medical miracle” resulting in a miscarriage so she could say, “Awwww, that was too bad. Gawd wanted it this way” or she wasn’t pregnant and rode home that day feeling as good as she did when she became the Governor. See? It’s Sarah’s call, but so far she’s not willing to release Trig’s birth certificate and the Mat-su hospital where Sarah said she gave birth to Trig is no longer posting birth announcements. Gee, I wonder why. Most likely Bristol did a home birth with Trig at Auntie & Unkie’s house if you ask me. ;-)

  107. Badger says:

Federal help for Special Needs Children is a big Deal.

The law requires that ALL Children, regardless of their “special Needs” get to attend school.

This is a civilized approach , but these “Special Needs” are Expensive, and really Cost Financially strapped School districts a significant part of their Tax Money.

The Costs of Special transportation, special teachers, special facilities , etc. come at the expense of a school districts Budget.

Federal aid to this problem helps spread the costs among the nation as a whole…but that’s socialistic , so Gov. Palin is against it…even though Alaska Schools probably Are Not.

Let Gov. Palin try to Defend her position .

  108. Fred says:

    Hoodathunk Says:

That is funny, I find that all of the conservatives I know suddenly say they never supported bush but they want to blame both parties for the economic meltdown…..funny.

  113. Levi the Oracle says:

    111 Dr. Hussein Matt Says:

Your concern troll act is pretty lame and obvious. You can suck my arse, you f**king twit.

My concern troll act? Just because you live in a world where ALL Republicans are “low life scum” dos not mean that every progressive is that narrow minded. I have noticed Republicans like to invent their version of reality but apparently that is not reserved exclusively for Republicans.

I understand why you hate Republicans, but you need to learn to control that anger. I am not some wingnut concern troll, I am a very progressive independent, who happens to be well aware of the fascist takeover of the Republican Party. I am insulted you would group me with the propagandists, just because I realize that not all Republicans are “low life scum”.

If you want to insult me by calling me a f-ing twit, and telling me to suck your arse, you can believe I will hound you the way dbadass hounds archie and company. You don’t want me to open this can of whoop ass boy.

For my opening salvo, I will request, for the second time, that you provide evidence that anyone has sent death threats to the octomom, and further evidence that such death threats came from a Republican. If you are not willing to provide such evidence, then you first need to post a retraction then an apology. I always expect wingnuts to back up their crap so you damn well better expect to back your up.

    *puts his fists up*

  114. blistex11 says:

Frig Palin. She’s ethically challenged and I hope her legal fees drown her.

  115. blistex11 says:

From the headlines this week regarding Simpleton Sarah rejecting the stimulus money for education, I’d say her days are numbered and she’s going to be slapped with another lawsuit by educators in Alaska in the coming days.

She’s going to need more than a legal aid fund to pay those bills.

Frankly, she needs to be recalled from office if she violates her oath of office as Governor by NOT representing the needs of the people with regard to the stimulus.

  116. blistex11 says:

And, since Paleface is insistent upon making a public and embarrassing spectacle of herself, it’s time for the internet to begin pressing Alaskan legislators to impeach her.

  117. Levi the Oracle says:

    31 Dr. Hussein Matt Says:

pro-life reich-wingers sent death threats to the ‘octomom’. Lowlife scum….all of them.

I am still waiting to see if Dr. Dussein Matt is going to back up his claim or insult me again.

  118. dbadass says:

    Rebecca dear,
What is your major malfunction? Do I frighten you? You need not be afraid. All I seek is intelligent discussion. Can you do that? The problem is that I will make you look foolish everywhere you go unless you stop acting like a total jackass and have a nice chat with us all.

I suppose you were too young to remember annoying suburbia kids on their dad’s cb radios but you are falling into that same adolescent trap

  119. Jim says:

Never have I seen a politician who believes herself (or himself) to be a victim as much as Sarah Palin does. Every public statement she makes is a complaint about how unfairly she’s been treated by the media, by Democrats, by the McCain campaign, by the Republican Party leadership, etc. She believes she’s infallible, I guess, so she has to believe in this narrative of victimization in order to accommodate her worldview.

What is your major malfunction? Do I frighten you? You need not be afraid. All I seek is intelligent discussion.

dbadass, I know you’re aware of this, but “Rebecca” is not capable of intelligent discussion, by all indications, and so “she” may indeed need to be afraid of it.

  125. Jackie says:

She was riding up with Uncle Ted, Oil Companies and evening using God to get over. Now it’s time to pay Satan for what he gave her. With her daughter Bristol having two kids and no job or education. Levi skipped out of the deal after he lied for her during the campaign. Denying the citizens of Alaska their Stimulus help. Helping Levi’s drug pushing Mom with her criminal charges. Oh yes bimbo Sarah forgot her husband the drunken First Dude was found guilty. Now where’s John the Maverick McCain when she needs help. McCain dumped his own daughter and is doing what he does best as a memory lost victim, he can’t remember who Sarah Palin is. Uncle Ted is finished and looking for a friend. With Alaska at 9.1 per cent unemployment the citizens of Alaska need a Govenor.
She might ask those wing nuts who followed her for money as the RNC is still explaining to those who donated why Sarah went on a Family shopping spree with their money. Sarah said see can see Russia from her window she might yell to them for a donation for her legal fees. I saw Putin would give what he can to help.

    dbadass Says:

you are falling into that same adolescent trap

That’s because he’s an adolescent. Seriously, Archie B’s thinking process, if you can call it that, is all about hating anything liberals might like and liking anything liberals might hate.

Like how an angsty, hormone-crazy teenage girl tries to make a show of liking the things her parents’ hates just to try and piss them off.

Now that I think of it, Rebecca really is a good name for the Olbermann-obsessed troll.

  128. ljm says:

And, this is an example of how she would handle the national financial crisis….show some ankle and beg.

  130. Hoodathunk says:

For what is worth, I have read the posts of both the good doctor and the oracle and I have found them to be much more on the same page than not. Maybe I’m too much of a greenhorn but I do know that misunderstandings happen.

You sure are acting like a troll…

If you judge me as a troll because I asked someone to prove what appealed to me to be an unlikely claim, then you are just as bad as the Republicans. If Dr. Hussein Matt was telling the truth, I want the link to it so I can use it on another site. Personally, it sounds just like the type of propaganda I hear from the Republicans.

I have learned to question everything and judge for myself is some claim is true or false. I am certainly not going to take Dr. Hussein Matt’s word for it. If he wants to back up his claim, good for him. If he wants to insult me, he better be ready for the gates of hell to open.

  136. Trollspotter says:

Actually you have already lost and you look loke a total asswiped loser but whatever.

  170. ralph the wonder llama says:

Dearest “Rebecca”, may I present posts from Hoodathunk (160), joe cantwell (198) and Trollspotter (199) as apocryphal evidence of my claim that “we all know” your varied history of troll names and predilections.

Of course, if you demand that my obviously hyperbolic statement be held to rigid literal standards — i. e., that I prove that literally “We all” know this, then I’m afraid I might have some trouble meeting this level of evidence. But you would be setting up yourself and any future comment you made to the same standard of proof, so I doubt if you’ll insist on such an extreme benchmark.

We declare, save her from Satan,” the pastor said. “Make her way my God. Bring finances her way even for the campaign in the name of Jesus. … Use her to turn this nation the other way around.”

ralph. you’ve obviously got a valid point, but you see how the lawsuits could also be used as Palin describes?

I think there are two sides to the issue. I assume the answer is to somehow balance the rights of both parties.

Keep in mind that an ethics board found that Palin was guilty of violating the law. If she was so concerned about how much money she would have to spend to clear her name, she shouldn’t have broken the law.

As for your second point, this is pure nonsense, backup. It would appear that you have fallen into the right-wing trap of believing that not only are there two sides to every story, but that both sides have equal validity. They do this because, quite often, the right wing will use lies to make their points. So they want people to believe that in any dispute, it’s just a matter of opinion on who is right and who is wrong, and that it has nothing whatsoever to do with facts. No matter what the right wing says, facts matter.

And you don’t compromise with Wrong. There are those who want to do the right thing and those who want to do the wrong thing, and there is no reason in the world why we should compromise with the people who want to do the wrong thing.

  217. Hoodathunk says:

It seems Becky and backup have withdrawn to Troll Central for new instructions.

Wayne. I appreciate your efforts even though I know we disagree on most things. Although I disagree with you often, I respect you. And you have changed my mind on several things and moderated my thinking on others.

    You raise the bar here.

I understand the idea that loser pays could impact those with valid cases to not pursue them because of the fear they might have to pay. That’s a problem.

If Palin is guilty, under loser pays, she would pay.

I also think that just as a valid claimant could be dissuaded to pursue a lawsuit, people wanting to financially harm someone could by initiating frivolous lawsuits, not for justice, but for payback.

Wayne (and often times, ralph and some others) have shown me the merits of what progressives stand for. I came here believing some of those ideals and adopting some others over time.

Tensions between McCain and Palin camps come to light

Reporting from Phoenix — Sarah Palin left the national stage Wednesday, but the controversy over her role on the ticket flared as aides to John McCain disclosed new details about her expensive wardrobe purchases and revealed that a Republican Party lawyer would be dispatched to Alaska to inventory and retrieve the clothes still in her possession.

If we had loser pays, maybe there would be less of these kinds of lawsuits. Or at least, fewer claims that the lawsuits are politically motivated to be financially damaging.

How about all those frivolous lawsuits claiming that President Obama wasn’t born in Hawaii. Who should pay for those?

Please do… I could use a good laugh.

Not one single solitary person bit. Not even one person commented on it. I’m so disappointed in my conservies. LMAO!

Throw Palin in jail for ethic violations.

  270. The Moderate Squad says:

How come Palin has not been censured for the ethics violations found by the state commission during the campaign?

  271. CVille Dem says:

Does anyone question the basic premise that 150 Freedom of Information requests took more than ONE MILLION DOLLARS TO PROCESS? I mean, aren’t there people employed in the government whose job it is to process requests of information? Even if they had to hire a person for each request, which would be absurd, why would they get paid five figures to give out one piece of information.

Sara Palin doesn’t know how to speak without lying and she isn’t even smart enough to lie convincingly. Too bad for her; she would have been a perfect candidate for the Bush cabal; too good for our country — she is hopelessly incompetent, ignorant, and a dopey liar.

Be careful about LYAO… w/ yer head so far up it, yer liable to give yerself a bloody nose when yer Cheney hits the floor.

Gov.Palin is playing her supporters like a violin. First, get that she is in debt reported, then imply that it was Pres.Obama’s fault tapping into their hate for him. They respond by sending her money to pay off her legal fees. Divisive tactics will not work in a general election. Another thing, timing. After keeping a relatively low profile,Porfolio comes out with unflattering article. Since then she has tried to control the message. Many conservitives read this magazine.

There is a barrier to entry for politics that includes paying respect to honesty, integrity, character and leadership. Not observing these requirements but engaging all the same is very costly and caribo barbie must pay for her hubris.

  279. JollyRoger says:

Really now, what else would you expect from America’s Welfare Queen? She won’t accept any Federal dollars that might give some freezing and starving Alaskans a little hope-but she’s never had trouble using OPM for her and her family. Whether it’s using the RNC credit card for silk boxer shorts from Sak’s, or using State of Alaska funds and vehicles to feed, clothe, and taxi around her family, the Wasilla Hillbilly has always been a mooch.

  280. curious says:

With what Palin has denied her constituents in the way of stimulus for education and health etc., she has the nerve to want these same people to pony up for her defense fund. Truly if she had balls they might be brass.

Someone called her Dick Cheney in drag. Whatever she is, I hope she sinks like a rock under the debt. If the people of Alaska do not unload this bomb then they really are to stupid to warrant sympathy. If she stands on her porch, maybe she can see her failure to get re-elected instead of Russia.

    SARAH
(sung to the theme of “Flipper”)

They call her Sarah, Sarah, her beehive is frightening,
No one could be, as clueless as she,
And we know Sarah, lost an election that stunned her,
    Interview blunder, on the T.V.!

“Ya Betcha” we saw, how vapid was she,
Yet she saw herself, as darn “Mavericky”,
She talked of a bridge, off to nowhere,
Referred to herself as a tough “Mama Bear”!

They call her Sarah, Sarah, in need of enlightening,
No one you see, was impressed with she,
And we know Sarah, lacked strong college education,
Unwed procreation, was more up her tree!

  284. mattmcb says:

Who would contribute to that fund?
