Right-wing ‘tea party’ protest in Orlando features signs calling for the impeachment of President Obama.

After accepting illegal and unethical behavior for years from President Bush, the right wing has finally come around to advocating for the impeachment of a President. On Sat. March 21, more than 4,000 people gathered in Orlando for a “tea party” protest to denounce what they called “wasteful Washington spending.” The Orlando Sentinel quoted one attendee saying, “They need to shove that bum out,” referring to Obama. The signs that were distributed said “Obama Bin Lyin’ IMPEACH NOW”:

The “tea party” protests nationwide are being coordinated by the conservative public relations firm Freedom Works, which is run by former Majority Leader Dick Armey (R-TX). The tea parties are also being supported by Newt Gingrich, through his organization American Solutions For Winning the Future. Members of Congress, such as Rep. Jean Schmidt (R-OH), have appeared at previous rallies. In addition, Fox News’ Glenn Beck promotes the protests, and has launched a website publicizing the events.

What are they protesting? Taxes? Their taxes were LOWERED under the Stim Bill to less than during the Bush W admin.

Are they all execs making over $250k protesting the marginal tax rate hike of 4% back to 1993 levels?

Oh, right, I read the rest of the story … It’s more ginned-up baloney from Armey, Gingrich, Bech & Malkin. Sort of like the Drill Baby Drill success, eh?

    _____________________________________________________________

Doesn’t matter — these idiots don’t even know the meaning of the word.

But those of us who DO know the meaning of the word can’t help but notice how cheapened it’s become, to the detriment of justice in general.

During Nixon’s time, impeachment was reserved for serious crimes and misdemeanors by the president. Articles of impeachment were voted on by House Judiciary Committee members who truly believed Nixon had abused his power. By the time these articles were to be voted on by the entire House, both parties were set to support them, and Nixon resigned.

During Clinton’s time, impeachment was used as a political tool to bring down a president purely for political reasons. The whole affair was never anything but extremely partisan.

The Clinton impeachment managed to cheapen the process so badly that the option was taken “off the table” for various Bush/Cheney abuses of power, since any effort at impeachment would be viewed as petty and partisan.

Now, the term has become so meaningless that citizens now call for it merely because they don’t like a president’s policies (or they have been told not to like them, even if they don’t understand them) — whether or not there’s any belief the President has committed a crime is irrelevant.

It’s kind of like “Democrat Party” — these are just idiots showing off their lack of education.

  31. Briseadh na Faire says:

Question – how does President Obama’s actions rise to “high crimes and misdemeanors” when he cannot initiate a bill of revenue?

Under the last 8 years of republican rule

Bigger government and less regulation (the cause of our current fiasco)
Lower taxes for the wealthy and token gestures for the middle class (those ridiculous stimulus checks etc.)and a huge increase in the federal deficit (taking war costs off of the budget, etc.).
Less freedom in the name of “freedom”(domestic spying, indefinite detention, etc.).

  44. unbelievable says:

“less government” means more big business, and we see how well that worked out. Obama was dead right – it’s not about the size of our government, but the quality of it.

“less government” also ignored the Preamble of the Constitution which clearly calls for a competent govertnment to protect the people, ensure justice and our general welfare.

“less government” in a democracy, where we are the government, is self-defeating.

    ____________________________________________________________

“Ambush”? You’re kidding — right? An ambush is a surprise attack. An ambush is unexpected.

Are you trying to tell us that Cramer had NO IDEA why he was asked onto the show? Was Cramer truly unaware of the criticisms Jon Stewart had already given CNBC in general and his show in particular? Did Cramer think Stewart just wanted to get his views on what teams would make it into the NCAA tournament?

You’re right that Cramer wasn’t prepared. He should have been, and he has no excuse for not being prepared. But we can’t call it an “ambush” merely because Stewart did his homework and Cramer didn’t.

  54. backup says:

Nope. They didn’t do it because they didn’t have enough votes.

They can’t make the case to the American people?

If Bush is guilty of criminal wrong doing, the Congress has a moral obligation to pursue it.

Democrats hold the White House, the House, and the Senate. Obama has high approval and Bush high disapproval.

    What is stopping them?

    A lack of evidence.

I understand the partisan desire to believe in Bush criminality. But, that’s all it is; partisan desire.

  55. unbelievable says:

Dr. Hussein Matt Says: Reich-wing revisionists for some reason “think”, or just desperately want to believe, that the Democrats had some overwhelming powerful majority from 2006 to 2008.

  56. backup says:

missmolley. come on. Stewart’s show is on the Comedy Channel.

What Stewart did to Cramer was nowhere near comedy.

    It was a tongue lashing.

It was a tongue lashing not because Cramer and CNBC weren’t doing their jobs, but because Cramer and Santelli were questioning the President.

Cramer went to the Daily Show expecting a Leno experience and got more of a Springer type treatment.

  58. unbelievable says:

backup Says: If Bush is guilty of criminal wrong doing, the Congress has a moral obligation to pursue it.

Yes they did, and that’s EXACTLY why the Republicans lost their power – for abusing it. They are now the minority party for failing to do their jobs. We fired a lot of them.

    You can’t impeach Bush now. He’s hasn’t been President in 2 months…

There’s enough evidence. There just weren’t enough votes because Republicans played partisan politics.

The American people wanted Bush impeached. But we don’t control that directly. Only indirectly by firing Republicans in 2008. Should be more in 2010.

Also backup, it is extremely funny that you can read Jim Cramer’s thoughts as he agreed to go on Stewart. Did Cramer miss the montage of CNBC clips that precipitated his appearance on the show? WTF is your disconnect man? There was no ambush, and if Cramer was surprised by what happened, then the fault for that is solely his.

Oh I see, it is alright that bush & co spent America into debt with the $10 Billion a month, no bid contracts, overbilling from Halliburton and KBR, insurancy lobbyists running wild, deregulation ruining the economy.

But impeachment for President trying to improve education, healthcare, environment and infrastructure. Which would NOT need huge amounts if maintenance had been done in the last 8 years instead of war.

  100. Hoodathunk says:

Impeachment (same source);: to charge with a crime or misdemeanor ; specifically : to charge (a public official) before a competent tribunal with misconduct in office.

The President is supposed to lie? Slick Willy got called for lying to Congress about a personal act that involved 3 people. GW got a free pass for lying (and admitting it publicly) about an action that cost thousands of lives.

One is a misdemeanor, the other gives felony a bad name.

The Republican’t party. You know, the one that threatens it’s members if the go off the reservation and think for themselves. The party of the “hive” mentality. Too bad for them that they don’t recognize themselves. The last PEW poll (taken a couple of days ago) shows that this partisan party is falling apart at the seams:

There are no signs in the poll that Republican congressional leaders are benefiting from the public’s concern about major economic policies. In fact, approval of Republican congressional leaders has fallen from 34% in February to 28% currently, the lowest rating for GOP leaders in nearly 14 years of Pew Research surveys. Republicans, in particular, have become less supportive of their party’s leaders in Congress: just 43% of Republicans approve of their job performance, down from 55% just a month ago. By contrast, nearly half of Americans (47%) approve of the job Democratic congressional leaders are doing.

Even their own members are abandoning them.

  102. texaslady says:

  109. backup says:

And the “tongue lashing” you refer to didn’t seem to me to ANYTHING to do with Cramer and Santelli “questioning the president”. It was about them cheerleading investors and the public at large into steering their money into a market they should have known was about to head downwards.

mary. ask yourself this question: was CNBC the only financial news that didn’t call the current financial crisis?

They weren’t. The difference is Santelli (who opposed the bailouts of banks when they were proposed by Bush) opposed the bailout of homeowners proposed by Obama. And Cramer (who was an Obama supporter) began to disagree with Obama’s business policies on his show.

The connection between Santelli and Cramer questioning the President and Stewart’s attack of CNBC in particular; is obvious.

    – Actually, President Obama’s approval ratings remain quite high, with numbers consistently in the 60’s and even 70’s.

“I was the first to predict impeachment would soon be on the table.”
    – I doubt that, because the sour grapes crowd has been predicting impeachment since Obama was elected, without even waiting for the inauguration. Some have probably been predicting impeachment from the time Obama clinched the Democratic nomination. Of course, your prediction has yet to come true, as impeachment hasn’t been on any “table” that’s meaningful. A tea-party of 4,000 people blinded by hatred isn’t a valid “table”. Oh, and one more thing — when these people are doing their best to conflate President Obama with a known terrorist, you have to wonder how much of their ire is fueled by bigotry. Did they decry “wasteful Washington spending” when Bush was pushing TARP?

    “God Bless America!”
    – Amen. Because America seems to have far too many people like you in it, it needs all the help from God it can get.

Now whether they could be proven, though the evidence is pretty clear, is another matter but its just WRONG that no case to impeach him existed. There are still those political considerations. By your logic since no one was prosecuted for the St Valentines Day massacre then no murders were comitted.

Americans have had enough of the pos Obama. I was the first to predict impeachment would soon be on the table. God Bless America!
    >>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Americans have had enough of ignorant brainwashed morons like YOU. You are a worthless piece of garbage without a shred of decency. I predict you will be blowing syphilitic lepers later on today on the docks. You are stupid. You are a punk and you are a troll. If you REALLY love America then go live somewhere else THAT is the best thing you could ever do for our country take your diseased, ignorant self to another country and inflict your stupidity on THEM.

  185. Rodeskawler says:

Is it any wonder why we succeeded in bringing about and winning the Revolutionary war and later on the Civil war when you understand the intellect level of the same people that opposed real patriots during both?

I saw a t-shirt today that said, “Southern by the grace of God” Of course the shirt had an “I wish I was as good as black people”, aka rebel/pro-slavery flag on it.

I was thinking, “Southern by the grace of God. Penniless and unionless by the grace of Republicans.” There should have been a Salvation Army or Goodwill flag next to his beloved loser flag.

  186. Rodeskawler says:

I don’t doubt for a second that the Retardlicans plan to impeach Obama should they ever get their majority back in the House, since those that disguised themselves as Democrats in the Senate recently came out of the closet to oppose Obama after America finally thought we had enough real patriots in power to quash the fascist coup and found the Republicans still had their “make Harry stick his pin head back in the sand” filibuster numbers.

The problem is, I don’t see America becoming that stupid in the next 8 years, but I have been wrong before.

  187. Rodeskawler says:

Welcome to the Special Olympics of politics.

  188. milaninthesun says:

Obama is going to fail; Obama is a socalist; Obama is a Muslem; Obama is a spent and tax Democrat; Impeach Obama for his wicked ways. The Republicans are in a lot of trouble and slash and burn is the only way they have to score points. The polls are indicating the RNC may be having a problem with this approch because their numbers keep slipping.
I had the good fortune to discuss these circumstances with an old time high ranking Republican. His view of Obama was optimisticly pragmatic, sounds like Obama himself. His view of his own party was a leaderless bunch with no plans, not capable of providing a loyal opposition for the countries.
If they continue to polorize the country in this time of crisis, they may even loose support withih their own party ranks. You can go on about the Bush years, and I agree. The real question is whether the Rebubilcans can produce a leader and formulate plans to bring to the bargining table. The country is in desperate need of the Republicans to start acting like a real political party. I don’t care what kind of cash they have on hand, this is still a democracy and if they continue down this road they will pay. The Clinton impeachment is still fresh in a lot of voters minds.

  189. dbadass says:

    hi milaninthesun
    you talk silly

  190. dbearton says:

I don’t pay any attention to the ignorant and stupid, they and their tea party are a sad, perverted joke; but Dick Armey belongs in prison for bribery. What is wrong with the Justice Department, letting these crooks, like Armey, run free.

  191. Patriot46 says:

Revolutionary War was not fought over Tea or taxes. It was fought because we wanted to print our own Money, (Continental Script)

  192. roosterman says:

Do you guys even care what happens to the levels of debt the Bush- Obama bailouts will create? We are throwing our kids into the fire for what? Tim Geitners buddies at Goldman Sachs? The bigger conspiracy here is the generational theft
by Bush/ Obama in favor of the NE Banking Interests.

  193. roosterman says:

Oh by the way Obama dropping like a rock with the center independants that elected him.

  194. Quizmos says:

Give them guns and liquor. Please!!

  195. billionbucks says:

so very very pathetic. These people’s brains rattle around in their heads too much.

  196. Joe the Philosopher says:

Unfortunately for the Republican protesters, their “tea party” was held in front of the Orlando Institute for the Criminally Insane, not the courthouse, where it was supposed to be held.

And they’re knocking the President’s map.

  197. Joe the Philosopher says:

    Just a footnote:

Apparently, the protesters confused a “Boston Tea Party” with a “Mad Hatters Tea Party.”

  198. dachinman says:

I had no idea there were that many redneck hill billys in Florida

  199. jhnwlk says:

Oh please, oh please, oh please, Republicans…DO start an impeachment movement in the House right now. With Obama’s approval in the mid 60s and yours in the crapper, I can’t think of a better way to once and for all destroy the right wing strangle hold on your party. It will destroy the Republican party as we now know it, for which the country will be eternally grateful. It’s time for a new party, maybe with the old name, maybe not. But it’s time for the wingnutopians to go create the Galt Party or the TeaBag Party or whatever loony fringe hate-group party they feel like making and being relegated to the fringe of society where they belong.

  200. middleamerica says:

It s a damn shame that you all feel this way about your fellow americans (I feel the same about the other side too)I’m a middle if the road type guy. I listen to both sides and what do I see…. nobody’s listening to each other because their “idiots” or “unamerican” or so on and so forth. We are doing a good job of helping our elected leaders to do anything they want and we defend them even if at our core we think its wrong because its OUR party and we’re not going to let anybody throw dirt at our party right or wrong. We are all americans and our forfathers and mothers shared their blood on the battlefields and their sweat and tears in factories and farms to make this country great. So this is how we repay them by destroying each other from within.

Signed a Demopublican (Vote the man not the machine)

Oh and americans is not capitalized for a reason.

Mike Luckovich of the Atlanta Journal-Constitution called this on January 18, 2009. See this URL:

  202. jjackv says:

Wow, quite a few folks on here are calling the kettle black. You people are blinded by your party affiliation and could care less about bettering a wounded nation. You sound a lot like the Republicans four years ago and four years prior to that. Partisan politics are getting really old, and I really see no “change” whatsoever. As far as these folks being racist…I see multiple people on here that feel free to make fun of whitey. Is that not racism in itself? Ah, double standards…weren’t many dems calling for Bush to be impeached as well? Ah, double standards…Dems having issues with wiretapping? Ah, double standards…Fusions Centers-coming to a town near you!

  203. cartertecjr says:

    Yeah for socialism!! No wait..what?

  204. woteverrrr says:

You people scare the hell out of me. Your saying we have taxation WITH representation…..do you even know what that means. You think because we will be paying outrages taxes to pay off this “bailout” and because it was done by the president that is the representation that is needed?? So I guess you don’t mind working for nothing….or are you all just some of those people already living off of the government. Gee, what better way to gain control over the entire population….keep em poor and needing MORE government. NO THANKS….YOU ALL NEED TO WAKE UP AND STOP BEING SO BLINDED.

  205. jeff mayton says:

OBAMA HAS NOT PROVEN HE IS A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN ARTICLE 2 SECTION 1 OF THE CONSTITUTION OF THE UNITED STATES OF AMERICA CLEARLY STATES THAT YOU MUST BE A NATURAL BORN CITIZEN TO HOLD THE OFFICE OF THE PRESIDENT OF THE UNITED STATES… HE IS GRANTED THE HIGHEST SECURITY CLERANCE ON EARTH DO YOU THINK MABE WE SHOULD LOOK AT THIS A LITTLE CLOSER??? ALSO MY FAMILY BELIEVED OBAMA WHEN HE MADE IT SOUND HE WAS GOING TO BRING HOME THE TROOPS RIGHT AWAY… OH WELL WHAT ARE JUST 3 VOTES…. AND HIS POSITION ON OBORTION ALLOWS HIM TO KILL THE UNBORN AND STEAL FROM THEM AT THE SAME TIME…..NOT TO MENTION HE IS THE FIRST PRESIDENT TO EVER DO COCAINE ….IM NOT SURE IF THIS IS PROGRESS

  206. broohaha says:

    Kranzy and Jeff,
Obama is the central point of all this mess we are in now. No one can blame Bush for all this massive spending. Oh by the way we were safe from 911 till Obama stole-bought the election. Though you are spot on jeff that The USA Constitution is the truth and Obama is a Constitutionalist lawyer! So sad that Obama is an imposter in accordance with the Constitution! Force him to comply then, we the people will verify all his profile! Nuff said! OBAMA COMPLY WITH THE CONSTITUTION OR RESIGN OR GET THROWN OUTTA OFFICE!!

  207. mizvargas says:

Let the retarded teabaggers throw their crap into the ocean and waters and get arrested for polluting. This is frikkin ridiculous…whos really protesting? just some rich people pissed off that they cant buy that fancy new airplane or yacht when there are poor people out there that can barely afford a new pair of shoes or the shirt off their back despite the fact that they bust their asses for their money and yet are labeled lazy by a political party who caters to the rich and doesnt give two shits about em. heres what i have to ask…where were you when bush was havin people tortured and making life harder for the regular people of this nation? probably sittin pretty not carin about anything but yourselves but when someone needs you to give a little you shit yourselves and throw a little tantrum like a child….GROW UP AND THINK OF THOSE LESS FORTUNATE…STOP THINKKIN ABOUT YOURSELVES

  208. Susan4usa says:

Is it true obama admitted to using cocaine?? If so it doesn’t say much about good judgement on his part and it most deffenitly sends a bad message to our youth, this is unexceptable and must not be tollerated if we except this kind of behavior now what will we except in the future? Couple this with the bad decision to lie to the american people about bringing our troops back home ,it appears as if a pattern is developing… also the bad decision to hang around terroist that bombed the pentagon is outrageous!! and the most unpatriotic act in the american political history…
