O’Reilly Lies: I Always Let People Explain Themselves Or Appear On My Show Before Harassing Them
The harassment I experienced at the hands of Bill O’Reilly’s henchmen this past weekend was unfortunately not the first such incident by the network. Other victims include the New Yorker’s Hendrik Hertzberg, Gov. Jim Douglas (R-VT), the Atlanta Journal Constitution’s Cynthia Tucker, and the Columbia Journalism Review’s Mike Hoyt.
On Aug. 24, 2007, O’Reilly defended his harassment machine:
As you may know, “The Factor” occasionally sends out producers to confront people who will not answer serious questions about controversial things they do, like judges giving child rapists probation, for example.
Now, some object to displays like these. But we feel they’re a vital tool in holding public servants accountable for their actions, and we do not go after people lightly. We always ask them on the program first, or to issue a clear statement explaining their actions.
For the record, I am neither a public servant, nor was I ever contacted by Fox News for the opportunity to issue a statement or appear on the O’Reilly Factor. Similarly, O’Reilly lied on-air after Watters’s ambush of Hertzberg, claiming that he had invited the journalist on the show. (He hadn’t.)
We have now contacted multiple people at Fox, including Watters himself. We have yet to receive a response from anyone at the network.
During that same August 2007 show, O’Reilly even asked Watters if he feels “afraid” during his ambushes. Watters joked, “No, I’m just afraid to come back empty-handed for you.” O’Reilly said that Watters was becoming a “big star all over the world.”

I think mostly is that Amanda tried to belittle an organization that would use Bill O’Reilly after some comments that she referred too that was taken completely out of context. By doing so she make the foundation look foolish and could hurt their outreach program. I believe she did this not thinking about what her actions may cause, I believe it was spurned on by hatred for Bill O’Reilly. I am a victim’s advocate and have been doing this work for over twenty years. The easiest thing for those “not victimized” is to blame the victim. This gives those not victims (yet) control over their lives; “this wouldn’t happen to me because..” “I would never go there…” “or do that…” therefore we can blame the victim. She did something we would not do, so we can feel safe and maybe be safe. Yet most victims of violent crime are victimized in their homes.
It is all about control. When one is the victim of a violent crime, it is a loss of control of one’s self and the control is gained by another whose objective is all about power and control.
O’Lielly is a power and control freak; he is a perpetrator of violence and a criminal. He should be treated as such and shunned from civilized society.
The trolls here (misguided and flailing) now want to blame Amanda for calling him out on what he is – it is simply another victim blaming tactic and a need to keep oneself safe from the likes of the O’liely’s of the world. If that’s all you heard, then you missed what he said that was offensive, and that is that it was the victim’s fault that she got drunk and was raped and murdered. He chose to highlight that the girl that was murdered, was out drinking, using and fake id, walking in a bad area at night and not only that she separated from her friend and was alone. He stated she didnt deserve what this creep did but there is a point where you have to protect yourself and have show some responsibility for your actions like Mel Gibson. Mel Gibson abuse of alcohol has cause him a lot of his problems and he needs to take responsibility for driving drunk and the words he used in describing a race of people. In Bills eyes they girl did not show in responsibility in her actions which lead to her death. He in no way said she deserved what she got or “had it coming”. If you get drunk and lie down on train tracks and get killed there is a degree of responsibility on your part for your own death. Bill also used those two examples to show how we as a nation are wanting to shirk are responsibility for some things or situations we get ourselves into too. Personal responsibility is gone. Now the girls situation on Bills show had nothing to do with Alexia and how she was victimized. Alexia had taken common sense actions to prevent it from happening yet it happened anyway. Amanda deceivingly used that radio show to try and hurt Bill and in doing so hurt an organization that is trying to help victims. How ironic that the very thing she points at Bill for doing she did by accident and now doesn’t want to take responsibility for it and just say “Im sorry”

First, let me compliment you on your excellent writing and journalist skills. I never pay attention to who writes for Think Progress until Bill O’Reilly is chasing them with ax.
You have to understand that you’re dealing with a mental case, Ms. Terkel. I knew Bill in Camarillo Hospital. He, Glenn Beck and I shared a room (the staff called it a room. We called it a cell). It was during this period that Bill revealed to me that he had fantasies about hurting people. Just with words. Not his fists, he said. I refused to take my medications unless I got another roommate. Anyway, I don’t know why they let him out (his yelling bothered me), but he may be one of those patients who has to go back every six months or something like that. The doctors there aren’t real subtle about telling patients they’re nuts.
Bill’s a likeble enough guy if you’re into sledge hammers. It also helps if you like to pull the wings off flies. I remember Bill saying that he didn’t care if anyone liked him. Anyway, no one ever liked him anyway so he didn’t have to worry about it. And I wouldn’t if I were you.

You are right. This website is filled with primarily young immature people. Most of them from Digg.com—a cult of left wing bots.
Younger individuals are more net savvy and likely to be indoctrinated into liberalism (like thinkprogress) due to the cult-like nature of massive city populations which don’t exactly make one feel comfortable opposing what people around them have been born and bred to believe. When you turn the TV to a MSM channel people ought to find it odd how everyone is in lockstep agreement on every issue with perhaps the exception of moot concerns.
